“I've lived in East Los all my life and this has got to be one of the best Chinese foods.I just get the pleasure of it being almost time travel.Anyways, I got the chow mein with beef and broccoli and teriyaki. With a Thai tea Boba. The best part of my meal was how fresh the noodles felt and yet I know that it was the last of it on that huge tray. The Thai tea Boba were soft but not too soft. ? I'll be coming back for more ?“

“I briefly visited LA and my dad and I got dinner here. We walked from Union Station; it is a nice walk.
The restaurant has a calm, relaxing ambiance. Our server was friendly and attentive. We were given tea before our meals which was a lovely touch!
I cannot remember what my father got, but I remember what I got very well: the Salted And Pepper Japanese Tofu. And boy, was it DELICIOUS! Portions are large too, which is nice. And I kid you not, it has been months since our trip to California and I randomly start to crave this dish every once in a while. My only regret is not taking a photo of it!
I will certainly be returning for that wonderful Salted And Pepper Japanese Tofu the next time I'm in Los Angeles!“

“The best beef noodle soup take out I’ve EVER had… for as long as I can remember being in USA. It gets an A+ from me. Literally zero complaints. Good noodles, fat and tender pieces of meat, good broth and veggies. I don’t follow trends but I hope this place is poppin’ off. Dumplings are yummy too.“

“This is one of my top 5 places in LA. The service is amazing, super friendly and kind. And the food, IS SO GOOD. The tea smoked duck, homemade tofu and sesame chicken are unbeatable (to name a few). Jade wok is always in our rotation, we come here at least once a month.“

My kids were surprised at how tasty everything was. Healthy too! We will def be back often!!!! If they have it, the lotus root salad is a must! 3 cup chicken is amazing, wontons, etc… I want to try the wood ear mushrooms next!!!“

“I like this place. $13.99 per pound of food. You get to choose all your toppings. I recommend going heavy on the meats and light on the carbohydrates. That’ll be the best bang for the buck. They also have frog meat if that’s your lingo. I tried their beef bone broth and I like it a lot. I’d come back again.
**UPDATE**
Just a heads up. If you can’t eat mild this place won’t be for you. They can’t alter the broth. The only option is the tomato broth which is no spicy.“

“Surprised by the best kung pao shrimp I’ve had in my life. Fresh julienned ginger, scallion, garlic; a brown sauce that showed care and layered attention - not some slapped together mass processed food. The young lady serving was kind, precise, and sat to clean green beans in any down time. Reminded me of my family in India, the women’s hands busy all day with preparation,
with the food from the earth.“

“Interior very cute, prices reasonable. I love the food options. They have something for everyone. My favorite was the intestines and beef belly. Everything was flavorful and there was a cup of chili flakes if you want more spice. I would go again. There are several check in offers as well.“

“This meal was the highlight of our LA trip! I don’t know what kind of sorcery is afoot here but this little spot manages to be so much more than the sum of its parts. I felt so welcomed from the moment I stepped through the door and I liked that they have you order and pay before sitting down, it makes the dining experience more relaxing and low key. Loved how short and sweet the menu was, the chef has incredible restraint and a crystal clear vision. Every single thing we had was incredible, the best hk french toast and bolo bao I have ever had, and omg the scallion roll and dumplings. I don’t know what it is about this place but I’m still thinking about that meal days later. Also, the dining room made me feel like I was in a tvb serial from the early 90s which is the highest compliment.“

“this is a must try. it is one of my favorite places in the SGV and is easily the best sichuan restaurant i have ever been to. i strongly recommend the zajiangmian, and all of the cold dishes. the sliced pork with garlic sauce is standout. i have not tried much else from their menu yet, but i would feel confident ordering any dish. the portions are generous and the pricing is fair. if you like sichuan food, get in your car right now and get over here. it’s worth it.“

Vegetarian options: Not the best location for this.
Parking: Right outside the shop.“

“The best Chinese food I had in a long long time. We have been with six, sharing different dishes - a blast. Share the soup! Highly recommended. Thanks for reading my comment. Now, if you are curious enough about my "rating scheme", here's "the moment of truth. I am a music photographer who has traveled the world with the world's greatest musical talents (Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, and Rammstein, to name a few) for almost 40 years. When being asked "Where do you live" I tended to ask "in hotels". At my peak, I "shot" 250 shows a year. Will say: been there, saw and tasted it, and a lot, as I may say, and much to the dismay of my doctor who is in my back to lose a few pounds. Quite a few, as I may add, which is why my wife and I walk ten thousand steps per day, where- and whenever we can - and explore a lot of new exciting places - places you may oversee when just driving by. While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked at how people use their "power of the word" to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all-time favorite restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French place does, as I may add). Or I just read "Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish." Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers boxed to take home? As a dog owner, I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "You give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea... I hope you agree. So If I had a say on this portal, I would offer just to see the ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this does not correspond to "The Ritz". At first, I assume that a restaurant is clean, they do not greet you with a gun - and they deliver whatever they promise. I do not give stars for things that are expected. In my rating scheme, three or more stars are awarded if they actually exceed my expectations. Four, if I am sure I will come back. To achieve five stars, I must be willing to take a detour of thirty minutes or more to go again. Thank you for reading this.“

“Good stuff, lots of variety. Noodles were of course good, I got the tomato and eggs soup because that what my dad always got, and the three topping noodles. No complaints. Green beans were good too. My buddy I went with used to come here a lot pre pandemic and he says it's not as good. Even so, I was happy, and want to try other dishes on the menu, so I'll be back.“

“As far as the atmosphere and decor, this place feels like it's been preserved in the nineties. I find it to be charming, but I am also not coming here for the ambience. I'm coming for the food which is delicious! The menu is a treasure trove of Cantonese-American classics. They have the best sweet and sour pork: perfectly balanced, not swinging to one or the other side of the sweet-sour spectrum. It's not overly saucy or heavy. Just great. Portions are generous so you'll have plenty of food to take home.“

“I ordered fried beef river, shrimp dumplings, and beef tendon tripe. All levels are good. The beef river is not greasy and has the flavor of a wok, and the beef is fresh and tender. Many Yijia LA restaurants make shrimp dumplings, but this one does not. The skin is thin and the shrimp is tender. The beef tripe is steamed just right.“

“I love this restaurant so much! It’s never as full as I think it should be; maybe people are intimidated by the DIY element? (It’s a build-your-own malatang / mala dry pot kind of spot.) The flavors are authentic and spicy (but you can dial down the spice if that’s not your thing.) there’s also a cash discount if you pay with cash.
Parking: There is street parking in the neighborhood as well as a dedicated lot behind the restaurant (free).“

“This restaurant is very affordable, every dish looks big and is packed with great flavors.
If you come to this place with a group, there is a mandatory tip so don't get surprised by that (it will be included in your check).
I got various items from the menu, some of the highlights were the garlic and shrimp fried rice and the Chinese sausage fried rice.
The service was great and included tea. My party kept drinking hot tea and the waitress was always on top of it and refilling it. Even when we finished our meal and we were just chatting amongst each other, the waitress still offered tea, it was a very nice gesture and made us feel welcome to stay more.
Pending on how much you eat, I recommend getting the number of plates = the number of people in your party. If you cannot finish everything, they offer boxes to take out the rest of your food. I recommend dining in, it is clean and spacious.
The only bad thing is that some members of my party went to the bathroom and it was not clean, one of them even said that it ruins part of the experience. For the owner: Please clean the restroom, it would have been a perfect experience.“

“Wow. This place is so nostalgic!!! First of all the hainan chicken is perfectly cooked. Even without using the dipping sauce, it is incredibly tasty. A good portion too. LOVE.
And we took home two gallon sized bags of frozen dumplings and wontons. They were easy to pop in a boiling pot and taste so good. The fillings were generous.
We will absolutely be back to this mom and pop shop. One of the owners ran the front of house and she was so sweet. Such a gem in Monterey Park.“

“I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“

“I try few plates and soups.. the beef noodles soup is giving you should try that, I definitely not like the pork noodles smell and flavor but is the only disappointing of the food of this place.. the most of the plates are so tasty and in a good portion… about the costumer service they are not a big help cause they don’t give recommendations or even help with your options.. or probably it was just the person who attended me… there’s parking in front, close to the E line train station. Little and cozy place.“
