“Gum Tree Shop & Café is a small café and shop just a short walk from the Strand in Hermosa Beach. It’s been around for a while and feels very much like a local neighborhood spot.

Parking was easy right out front, which made the visit even more convenient. The café has outdoor seating, and you can sit with your coffee and feel the ocean air, with a steady flow of people and dogs passing by.

We ordered at the counter and had coffees, avocado toast with fruit, and a breakfast burrito. The food was fresh and straightforward, and the service was friendly and efficient.

The attached shop is a nice addition, with a thoughtful selection of home goods, cookbooks, and small gifts — an easy place to pick up something for a birthday or housewarming.

It does get a bit chilly in the morning, so bringing a light layer helps. Overall, a reliable Hermosa Beach stop for a casual breakfast or coffee after a walk along the beach.“

“I don’t have a single bad thing to say about Cafe Bonaparte!! My boyfriend and I are spending the weekend in Hermosa for his birthday and we’ve come to this cafe 3 times and we plan to come again before we leave. Everything was so so good. The bacon, egg and cheese croissant literally made my eyes roll back. All of the pastry’s are fire. Everyone who works here is super kind but especially this one girl (kinda tall, body tea, blonde hair w/ low lights??? And black claw clip). I don’t know her name and clearly don’t know her at all but I could just tell she was a girls girl. She was great and her vibes were amazing. Okay love you bye🤍“

“Great white is an amazing place. I’ve been there for dinner and lunch. The breakfast burrito is my favorite in all of LA but the dinner experience, the atmosphere is very fun it’s the perfect spot for casual family friendly dinner where the food is amazing The burger was delicious and so are the fish tacos. finally, the banana bread for dessert was so tasty.“

“The sweet and Saby’s burrito was good - like a 7.6/10. It was hot but lacked texture. Need to griddle the outside.

Unfortunately, we ordered in the restaurant at 9:30 and had to wait over an hour for our burritos. It was absolutely chaos inside with DoorDash and uberEats people yelling about their orders every second. They need to dedicate a specific area outside to to-go orders.

“The food is amazing. But what I like the most is the atmosphere. We decided to seat outside. Lovely cute chairs, quiet and breathy. Same deal for the inside. Food was tasty and portions very good in size. We got savory crepe - Crepe heaven special with egg, turkey and cheese. Very good balance of stuffing and crepe. The crepe itself is delicious. Not too dry or chewy. Sweet crepe was loaded with fruits, we’ve opted for condensed milk instead of Nutella. Two crepes to split between two people. We also got coffee and coffee was not bad. I am very picky with coffee but their coffee was surprisingly good! Highly recommend! Pictured strawberry banana crepe with condensed milk.“

“I was looking for a bagel spot because my normal spot was closed. The shop is small but it was easy to order early morning (7am) on a weekday.

There are several pastry options - I got the Sourdough bagel with a yummy salmon cream cheese!

“Fabulous hyper-farm-to-table food by a creative chef, on Main St in Santa Monica. I’ve tried the Gazpacho, the many Danish Rye toasts with what is fresh that day: eggs, salmon roe, avocado or ....? They also have baristas that make all type of drinks. My fab place to indulge healthy and fresh“

Got their email with the new seasonal drinks including this Orange Blossom latte that I just have to try. Ordered it from home on their app as I head out for work yesterday, get there, head straight to the counter, it's not there. All good, I'm only 5 mins away, I see it's already packed in here this early in the AM, so it's just not ready yet. I sit to wait... tick, tick, tick, time goes past, commute out there's getting worse, time to clock in's getting closer, where's my coffee? One of the baristas calls me up to the counter and she's like: What'd you get? I tell her and she says I don't have a ticket for that. I tell her, No I ordered it on the app. I go to look, and Dang, still unpaid in my cart. Line at the counter's long so I reorder on the app right there on the spot, go sit back down. Tick, tick, tick... tick, tick, tick... Girl calls me back up to the counter: I still don't see your order... No, you saw me order it. Pull it up on my app and Fuuu, I ordered it for Hill St in DTLA, this is Slauson. I look up and she says: Don't worry about it, you don't have to drive all the way over there, I gotchu. I dropped $5 bucks in their glass tip jar on my way out. Ain't no way Starbux up the road would've done that. I wish I'd gotten her name, but if you're reading this, you have no idea how much you made my morning yesterday. Thank youuu! And that OBL was so good.“

“As a Chicago resident, I am thrilled to have found Rockenwagner Bachelor Sourdough at my local Target! It is hands-down one of the best sourdough loaves on the market. My daughter actually makes amazing sourdough from scratch, which I love, but it is not an everyday luxury. “First time at this Cafe. Super nice atmosphere the people are great! My dad always says “that’s what makes a place good”. The food was very good (sorry no pics) but I ordered the Wildflower Two’s (eggs over easy w/ham and potatoes (not greasy) and rosemary garlic toast. Our server Andrea was super nice! Reasonable prices and the best 80’s music ever!! Nice little gem 💎 they also have outside seating with a super nice breeze!!“

“So much to say… but ultimately, Colossus in Long Beach is WONDERFUL!! The BEST BLT I’ve ever had. Because they use high quality ingredients! Their Soft-Scrambled Egg Toast is divine. And everything is beautifully fresh. I love their country bread, baguettes, olive cumin bread, dinner rolls… but I have so much more to try Their pastries are scrumptious: Pecan Sticky Bun, Cardamom Bun, Kouign Amann, Financier, Marzipan Croissant, Sea Salt Brownie, OG Chocolate Chip Cookie. It’s all amazing and I’ve brought a number of friends to show off this incredible Belmont Shore Bakery. On Friday nights Colossus serves pizza into the night. Again, high-quality ingredients make their pizzas delicious. Plus they have interesting and unique combinations. They are tip free because their starting wage is $21/hr. Great customer service. Cute little space with some lovely specialty spice mixes, food items, merch, and wine. Indoor and outdoor seating, and they serve tasty coffees and teas. Colossus feels like a little bit of Europe on 2nd Street.“

“A delicious made from scratch falafel in a great sandwich. Friendly staff. Since my first review I have returned and tried their Chicken and Cheese sandwich. Even better then the falafel sandwich! It is a chicken salad sandwich with lots of yummy chicken salad and Swiss cheese. I had their regular French fries 🍟 Very tasty. Again the staff was very friendly and helpful. Did I mention the tasty chicken?😋😋“

At first they were really nice and reactive but then they just disappeared and ignored my messages ! I asked them 3 times to answer me but nothing….. I have never seen that in the US ! “We stumbled upon this little café by chance while driving from the airport — and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! I honestly envy the office workers who get to have this place nearby every day.

It's a small café, but everything they serve is top-tier culinary art — the sandwiches, coffee, and salads are absolutely delicious. And the soups… just wow! We tried the pumpkin and broccoli soups — both incredibly tasty and nourishing. My 7-year-old son usually won’t touch broccoli, but he loved their broccoli soup and ate it with great pleasure.

We've only been there a couple of times over the past year, but it’s definitely on our list for every future trip to Los Angeles. Can’t wait to come back!“
