“Gum Tree Shop & Café is a small café and shop just a short walk from the Strand in Hermosa Beach. It’s been around for a while and feels very much like a local neighborhood spot.

Parking was easy right out front, which made the visit even more convenient. The café has outdoor seating, and you can sit with your coffee and feel the ocean air, with a steady flow of people and dogs passing by.

We ordered at the counter and had coffees, avocado toast with fruit, and a breakfast burrito. The food was fresh and straightforward, and the service was friendly and efficient.

The attached shop is a nice addition, with a thoughtful selection of home goods, cookbooks, and small gifts — an easy place to pick up something for a birthday or housewarming.

It does get a bit chilly in the morning, so bringing a light layer helps. Overall, a reliable Hermosa Beach stop for a casual breakfast or coffee after a walk along the beach.“

“I don’t have a single bad thing to say about Cafe Bonaparte!! My boyfriend and I are spending the weekend in Hermosa for his birthday and we’ve come to this cafe 3 times and we plan to come again before we leave. Everything was so so good. The bacon, egg and cheese croissant literally made my eyes roll back. All of the pastry’s are fire. Everyone who works here is super kind but especially this one girl (kinda tall, body tea, blonde hair w/ low lights??? And black claw clip). I don’t know her name and clearly don’t know her at all but I could just tell she was a girls girl. She was great and her vibes were amazing. Okay love you bye🤍“

“Great white is an amazing place. I’ve been there for dinner and lunch. The breakfast burrito is my favorite in all of LA but the dinner experience, the atmosphere is very fun it’s the perfect spot for casual family friendly dinner where the food is amazing The burger was delicious and so are the fish tacos. finally, the banana bread for dessert was so tasty.“

“I was looking for a bagel spot because my normal spot was closed. The shop is small but it was easy to order early morning (7am) on a weekday.

There are several pastry options - I got the Sourdough bagel with a yummy salmon cream cheese!

“Not close to my first time getting coffee here, I've also come for various events, but its my first time leaving a review, because I couldn't not do so for this. Got their email with the new seasonal drinks including this Orange Blossom latte that I just have to try. Ordered it from home on their app as I head out for work yesterday, get there, head straight to the counter, it's not there. All good, I'm only 5 mins away, I see it's already packed in here this early in the AM, so it's just not ready yet. I sit to wait... tick, tick, tick, time goes past, commute out there's getting worse, time to clock in's getting closer, where's my coffee? One of the baristas calls me up to the counter and she's like: What'd you get? I tell her and she says I don't have a ticket for that. I tell her, No I ordered it on the app. I go to look, and Dang, still unpaid in my cart. Line at the counter's long so I reorder on the app right there on the spot, go sit back down. Tick, tick, tick... tick, tick, tick... Girl calls me back up to the counter: I still don't see your order... No, you saw me order it. Pull it up on my app and Fuuu, I ordered it for Hill St in DTLA, this is Slauson. I look up and she says: Don't worry about it, you don't have to drive all the way over there, I gotchu. I dropped $5 bucks in their glass tip jar on my way out. Ain't no way Starbux up the road would've done that. I wish I'd gotten her name, but if you're reading this, you have no idea how much you made my morning yesterday. Thank youuu! And that OBL was so good.“

“We found this place by accident and decided to try some açaí right away and I’m so glad we did. I have to say. if you’re looking for a real Brazilian superfood açaí experience, you’re going to love this place. It’s one of the best açaí bowls I’ve had outside of Brazil. “I just moved into my apartment in Mar Vista, and I walk to work at Venice Beach. This bakery is on my way and very close to my apartment, so I decided to try it. Let's just say it's now my morning routine before work. The cheese danishes and pretzels are amazing, and the service is very efficient. Everyone is really nice, and there is a blonde girl who works there and she is super friendly. This is definitely a must try for anyone visiting or living in or near Mar Vista.“

“Lovely place. Unfortunately for us, we've been passing this restaurant by for years, as there is almost always a small crowd waiting outside for a table. However, today we took a chance, parked on the street near the restaurant & ventured inside. -- The decor is not fancy, but the atmosphere is friendly, light & inviting. And, the smells coming from the kitchen, as well as the custom coffee drinks was enticing.
-- Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, explained several dishes, answered questions we had about drinks, menu options, made solid recommendations, and easily took our orders. -- The drinks arrived fairly quickly, followed a few minutes later by our requested orders. Our meals were hot & freshly prepared as ordered (& had not been left sitting under warming lights.) The items we chose were very tasty, the fresh fruit cups were chilled & appeared to be prepped shortly before the meal was served. Very nice. Long before we had finished eating, we'd decided we would be returning to this hidden little gem on PCH to adventure further into the menu & sample some additional treats prepared by the chef & staff. “So much to say… but ultimately, Colossus in Long Beach is WONDERFUL!! The BEST BLT I’ve ever had. Because they use high quality ingredients! Their Soft-Scrambled Egg Toast is divine. And everything is beautifully fresh. I love their country bread, baguettes, olive cumin bread, dinner rolls… but I have so much more to try Their pastries are scrumptious: Pecan Sticky Bun, Cardamom Bun, Kouign Amann, Financier, Marzipan Croissant, Sea Salt Brownie, OG Chocolate Chip Cookie. It’s all amazing and I’ve brought a number of friends to show off this incredible Belmont Shore Bakery. On Friday nights Colossus serves pizza into the night. Again, high-quality ingredients make their pizzas delicious. Plus they have interesting and unique combinations. They are tip free because their starting wage is $21/hr. Great customer service. Cute little space with some lovely specialty spice mixes, food items, merch, and wine. Indoor and outdoor seating, and they serve tasty coffees and teas. Colossus feels like a little bit of Europe on 2nd Street.“

“A delicious made from scratch falafel in a great sandwich. Friendly staff. Since my first review I have returned and tried their Chicken and Cheese sandwich. Even better then the falafel sandwich! It is a chicken salad sandwich with lots of yummy chicken salad and Swiss cheese. I had their regular French fries 🍟 Very tasty. Again the staff was very friendly and helpful. Did I mention the tasty chicken?😋😋“

“This location can be a little confusing as it is next to a church, but they have a parking lot in back. They also have two dosages, one is like a lounge and the other is the actual restaurant
The service is wonderful and I even received a hug from the owner.
I had thecombo pho with brisket, beg round and tendon. It was so delicious. The broth was clean and not oily. A nice large bowl, almost overflowing. A really nice plate of veggies, including culantro.

My brother had the chicken porridge. It too came in a large bowl with a nice plate of veggies too.

Upon sitting you're served a nice large cup of iced jasmine tea. I also ordered the iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk. Delicious!

“I had the cornbread muffin. It's not bad but it's missing something. Definitely would eat it with a bowl of chili though.Ordered a 20 oz iced vanilla latte with oat milk and that was perfect. Smooth, bold, not too sweet. Coffee is solid here, I'd say it's my go-to Inglewood spot when I'm in the area, I saw the menu and read there's an Issa smoothie and there's only one Issa in these parts and I miss Insecure SO MUCH! I'm not from here and was working on the area so to see this is a Issa establishment made me smile and it's a total vibe. The decor and clearly they're playing the Untitled album by Sault right now which sets them apart from most coffee spots. Love it here! Was able to find parking on the side of the building for a quick stop. The girl that took and made my order was also a vibe and I loved that she was honest with me when I asked about the Issa (it's good just pricey). For the cost of one smoothie I was able to get my coffee and pastry. Definitely coming back!“

“We stumbled upon this little café by chance while driving from the airport — and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! I honestly envy the office workers who get to have this place nearby every day.

It's a small café, but everything they serve is top-tier culinary art — the sandwiches, coffee, and salads are absolutely delicious. And the soups… just wow! We tried the pumpkin and broccoli soups — both incredibly tasty and nourishing. My 7-year-old son usually won’t touch broccoli, but he loved their broccoli soup and ate it with great pleasure.

We've only been there a couple of times over the past year, but it’s definitely on our list for every future trip to Los Angeles. Can’t wait to come back!“
