“Today was first time dining here with my wife and what a surprise very nice place with very delicious food , great service and some charm to it . We were in the area shopping in Trader Joe’s and went on google maps to see if there was any food near by . Kotobuki came up and we just headed straight there . We ordered bento boxes and everything I mean everything tasted fresh and amazing. We will be back !“

“Honsan Sushi is truly AMAZING!!! Likely thee best sushi I have ever had! The Dragon roll was absolutely superb, incredibly fresh with an impeccable presentation. I loved the black forbidden rice cooked to perfection. I did not miss the white rice one bit or its higher glycemic index. The Eel Hand roll was equally as impressive and absolutely delicious! What a wonderful dining experience! The location is very convenient, and I especially appreciate that they are open until 10:45 PM—perfect for a late dinner. The atmosphere is warm, relaxing, and beautiful.

A special thank you to the manager, Gary, and the wonderful staff, Charlie and Nikki, for making my birthday so memorable! They went above and beyond to celebrate with us and made me feel very special. 🎂❤️

“My family and I usually love Jizake and have been to this place multiple times over the years. However after last nights dinner not sure if we will come back. The first issue is that the server forgot to bring us 3 of our appetizers. I also noticed that my hot sake wasn't very hot and that they have trimmed down the size of their rolls. During the meal it became obvious to all of us outside that they were using a wifi speaker and whoesever phone it was hooked up to must have been moving around since the music was going in and out. Lastly while asking for the check I instructed the server to take the appetizers off our bill since we didn't receive them. He said he would and when he came back I was given a hand written bill with the break down. To his credit those appetizers were shown but not charged. I totaled up each line item and everything seemed correct as the subtotal was $170 with tax total should have been $183.17. However after taking my credit card he came back saying they totaled our bill incorrectly and apologized. Our new printed bill after charging my credit card didn't show the pricing break down for all the items but it appears that they added back in the money for the appetizers as with tax it came to $196.11 plus tip. By this point we just wanted to leave. After getting home we started not feeling so well. We don't usually have any bad reactions to sushi so maybe it was some sort of cross contamination issue. Either way I would caution everyone while eating at this establishment.“

“After several visits for both lunch and dinner, I can say with confidence that the food here is excellent and the place is spotless. And I mean that sincerely. The dining room is clean, and even the men's restroom was immaculate. Nothing kills an appetite faster than walking into a restaurant bathroom that smells like dirty mop water. Not the case here.
Our server was extremely attentive. Move your dish an inch and it was cleared before you even noticed. That kind of service matters.
Honestly, I struggled to find a single negative thing to say about the food or the experience itself. So I want to be clear: if a neighbor asked me where to find good, close sushi in Ladera Ranch, I would send them here without hesitation.
But there's something I've been thinking about since walking out, and maybe other people feel the same way.
Half the fun of a sushi bar has always been the connection. Knowing your chef. Picking up a conversation where you left off last time. The kind of familiarity where you end up buying your chef a drink because that's just the relationship you've built. It's one of the things that makes a neighborhood sushi spot feel like a neighborhood sushi spot.
That experience doesn't exist here. The chefs are skilled and clearly focused, but there was no eye contact, no conversation, and from what I observed, heads buried in phones between orders. It felt almost like a policy. And maybe it is. Maybe that's intentional. But it's a noticeable absence.
The food doesn't even have to be perfect for a place to earn that kind of loyalty. Some of the spots people drive across town for built their reputation on the relationship as much as the rolls. I miss that.
So: great food, great service, spotless restaurant. Absolutely worth going. I just hope someday the sushi bar feels like a sushi bar again.“

“I grew up in Laguna beach my whole life and would always pass by here but never got the chance to eat here. I finally decided to stop by for lunch.

The service was quick, friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken karaage bowl which was good. I saw the other food being made and served to other patrons and it looked delicious.“

“Sashimi is a sushi restaurant located at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Dimension Drive. It appears to be run by a Korean family and is a popular spot among the locals. They have a sushi bar, but we opted to dine at a table. Steve greeted us and was not only friendly and helpful, but his service level enhanced our overall dining experience.

We tried a number of dishes during our visit. Among my favorites were the Veggie Tempura, Salmon Nigiri, Lake Forest Roll (I appreciate that they allow substitutions so I subbed spicy yellowtail in place of the spicy tuna) and Special Carpaccio S. The Spicy Salmon cut roll was nothing special and tasted more like a California Roll. The Yellowtail Cheek was good, but it was more meaty and less tender than I've enjoyed at other Japanese restaurants. My wife ordered the Pink Lady, but I prefer my sushi with rice. All in all, we enjoyed our Sashimi experience and I'd recommend checking it out if you're in Lake Forest and in the mood for raw fish at a reasonable price.“

“We absolutely love this spot. Parking is easy first of all. Street if you’re lucky or go in the garage under the building and they validate for you! Then most importantly the food. Consistently amazing! We eat here like once a month and it’s always perfect. Everything is delicious and high quality. We lived in Japan and are picky with our sushi and this place is fresh enough to meet the mark. The pressed sushi is delicious. Our absolute favorite is the yellowtail jalepeno sashimi. Omg I could eat 4 plates. Shishito peppers or edamame make a great starter and are super fresh and cooked perfectly. Wine is always good- nice selection of sakes too.“

“Sushi bear is so good! I was craving oysters and thought about going to Honda-Ya but the line was too long. I wandered in on a Thursday night and was kindly greeted and seated quickly. Ordered the kamamoto oysters which hit the spot. I also ordered the sushi combo which came with a Hawaiian roll, everything was fresh and delicious. The staff and chef were so kind. “I never learned how to eat sushi until a few years ago. It all started here. I only cime here for the Aliso Viejo Roll. I tried to explain this roll to other sushi spots but no one compares! So delicious. The staff is so sweet and always remember us when we go. Im weird apparently amd live my plain edamame with butter and the guys cut a sliver for me without asking! “Such a cute spot next to UCI! The interior decor is gorgeous — such a vibe! They have beer, sake, and COFFEES! Everything on the menu looks soo good. Many of the rolls use the same ingredients so that’s an area for potential improvement, but didn’t take away from the experience.

Service was great, our server was very kind and attentive. I didn’t love that water for the table was already sitting on each table when we arrived, it looked like it had been there all day. The ginger and wasabi was a similar situation, it didn’t look fresh, but when we requested more the server immediately replaced it!

It was so quiet and chill in this area, and they have outdoor seating as well where families were hanging out. Very mellow and cute.

“I was most impressed with the forbidden rice rolls: ichiban, black widow, and Kamakazi rolls. Unlike most black rice, the rice was not hard but still soft like white rice with a nutty taste to add to the flavor profile. I also loved the fried onions on top of the Ichiban and Black Widow which really added flavor and texture. The Kamakazi had a nice chili oil to it which was pretty creative.
