“You can't top Dj's Chinese Cuisine in Larkspur. The lunch specials are indeed a good value for a Marin restaurant, and I'm all about disorganization. Plus, Joanne's been serving up plates and sass as the resident waitress mama for decades. She's like Flo from the 1970s sitcom Alice, minus the English - or rather, she's saying it all in Chinese. Funny, tough exterior, gem of a person once you get to know her.“

“This place is by mill valley in, it is really authentic Chiense food ! (I’m Chiense and I know this is a very authentic north Chiense food). Very clean and fast services. Order from Kiosk make it easy. In the few days we here we had mapo toufu, Mongolian beef, eggplant and toufu, fry noodles, and the sweet sour soup is amazing!!! We pretty much here everyday other than July 4 it closed for American 250. Very friendly services. I highly recommend mapo toufu so yummy! Price fair all dishes under 20$. Will visit again! “Bring cash! Self-seating, so bring someone to save your spot or grab the bar seating against the wall. Order at the counter, your number gets called. Condiments are up front except Sriracha which is at every table.

Came on a Tuesday for a late lunch and it was still packed — clearly social media is driving a lot of tourists here for the rice rolls. Got the Rice Roll Express Roll out of curiosity but wished I'd gone with the Shrimp Feast instead. Not bad, just not my favorite. Also wasn't asked about my optional topping and ended up with cabbage by default, so speak up when ordering.

We ordered several dishes — a spicy noodle broth loaded with bean sprouts, scallions and chili oil that had real depth; a wonton noodle soup with generously filled dumplings in a clean broth; a sautéed offal dish with red onion and chili that was bold and well-seasoned; and what appeared to be a hot & sour soup with good body. Everything came out hot and fresh. The menu is trilingual (Chinese/English/Vietnamese) with a wide variety at reasonable prices. Service is efficient in true Chinatown style — don't expect pampering, do expect the real deal. A reliable stop if you want to eat well without fuss in the heart of SF's Chinatown.“

“A popular local spot in Chinatown. This place is always packed, you will have to share tables with other people, and almost everyone here speak Chinese, so I think this place is authentic enough. The menu is very very affordable, each noodle soup item costs less than $10, and the most expensive shareable side order only costs $20. This is a steal in San Francisco.
We tried almost every signature dish, like beef brisket, curry fish balls, wonton and steamed pork & liver. Food portion were huge, you have to come here hungry.
My most favorite? Probably wonton and beef brisket. I think it's best to order wonton noodle soup (to get the light & sweet broth) and brisket dry noodles, because beef brisket itself is a bit fat and greasy, so you need something light to pair with it.
Overall, 9/10. Just remember to bring some cash with you when dining here.“

However, I ordered delicious food and enjoyed it when I got home.
I was grateful that the friendly staff told me about nearby parks where I could eat and explained things well.
There is also a parking lot, so park comfortably.“

“Great restaurant serving delicious comfort food of the days growing-up in a Chinese home near a Chinatown. I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service of the days gone-by. I enjoyed the clay-pot rice with chicken and the clay-pot rice with meat. They are not fancy dishes but it does remind me of days my grandfather made the same dishes. The pot of Oolong tea made the meal a lunch. The amount of food served was great — the leftover was enought for dinner for the both of us. Price was good but it is cash only. Looking forward to returning during the next trip to Chinatown San Francisco.“

“My sister and I hosted our fun & fab 4th annual Chinese Rickshaw Extravaganza banquet for 30 guests at the charming Garden Restaurant at 716 Kearney St. in San Francisco’s Chinatown on May 13, 2026 which is across from the Portsmouth Square Parking Garage.

Our private room was decorated with Chinese paintings and handwritten gold Chinese characters for good fortune and double happiness on red banners.

Our menu included appetizer: honey barbecue pork. Soup: egg drop soup. Entrees: Peking roasted duck with buns, double lobster with ginger & scallion, dry fried green beans in black bean sauce, glazed walnut prawns, mixed vegetables, & chicken fried rice. Dessert: sesame balls, orange slices, and fortune cookies.

Multiple guests remarked, “Each year the food seems to get better and better. It’s very delicious and the quality of each dish is excellent.” Everyone nodded in agreement.

Our wonderful restaurant manager , Justin, created a senior-friendly menu which we greatly appreciated and all declared, “We’ll be back next year! Thank you, Garden Restaurant! You rock!!”“

“I've been going to this place for my lunch for the past 3 and 1/2 years whenever I'm in the area definitely stop by here The customer service is good food is delicious and always hot but one thing I will say is if you want this for a good lunch definitely want to come before noon and after about 1:00 or 2:00 otherwise there is quite a line the Kung Pao chicken is the best. During the week can't speak for the weekend but definitely worth trying The only other place that comes close is lams kitchen in Mill valley“

“Following recommendations, we tried takeout. Be aware it takes longer than average. I ordered 4 items at 5:40 and pickup time was 6:15-6:30. I was there at 6:20. It was bagged & waiting with many other orders. There were few diners. It looked quite basic & not appealing as a destination unless bringing young children. The owner was gracious and friendly. The small wonton soup could feed 2. It was very good, tho there was a slight aftertaste of oil. I’m used to chow mein noodles being very thin. Theirs is like spaghetti—good, but not what I expected or wanted. Orange chicken was tasty. The broccoli beef had a delicious sauce over extremely tender beef and huge pcs. of broccoli. I asked for no garlic without much hope. No garlic! I was happy👍🏼 Very generous portions with no stinting on meat or fish in entrees. My one real criticism is the size of the cuts. Veggies require a knife as they’re double-size. Very awkward when eating soup. I don’t know if this represents Ping’s style or an overwhelmed cook who hasn’t time to properly prep. It’s a glaring kitchen misstep that needs correcting.
Would I return? Absolutely. Fresh and plentiful, even if I disagree with ingredient prep.“

The chicken itself was juicy and scrumptious and the garlic noodles had a great consistency to them. I didn't try the donuts, but the apple fritters were a great size and I definitely want to try one the next time I'm in the area. Employees were friendly and inviting, which is key for me as a return customer. And the prices are wonderful - currently 8 dollars for three items! While the selection isn't as wide as other Chinese joints (especially in Chinatown), it's great if you're craving Chinese food and want some some quick and cheap takeout.“

“On a holiday retreat, and after so many big and expensive meals over the Christmas and Chanukkah holidays, we were thrilled to discover Ming's tucked away off the Main Street in Tiburon. Though GPS took us there, it was still somewhat hard to find. But we percevered Tiny and no frills, but bright and colorful. A birthday party was going on in the corner. A husband and wife and their little girl enjoying a feast across from us. Lots of people coming and going for takeout. But our server, took our order and delicious hot plates of food begam to appear. Potstickers, Wonton Soup, and Kung Pao Chicken plus a bowl of rice. It was all wonderful and enough to take home for dinner the next day. Likely, the best meal of our three-night stay. It's the simple things that matter most.“
