“People barely talk about this spot. So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. They’re right by a golf course so it’s super pretty and people are really nice. I got their matcha latte, Korean corn dog, galbi bibimbap, and kimchi beef soup to try.
The strawberry matcha was sweet had bright strawberry flaves with mellow matchay notes and was nice and milky. If you’re not into cafe like drinks they also have a cooler full of other fun drinks to pick from too. The corn dog came with some crisp corny tortilla chips and salsa and was topped with sweet ketchup, gooey cheese, was coated in crispity crunchity panko breadcrumbs and had an a bit sweet fluffy bready batter filled with half mozzarella and half a spongy fish sausage. Course we gotta mix up the bibimbap that had a not spicy chili flavor gochujang sauce, crunchy nutty lettuce, tender grilled veggies, pickled yellow radish, an egg, and perfectly sweet, savory, grilled, galbi short ribs that were just pure deliciousity. The kimchi beef soup came with a side of rice and pickles and HAD A BUTTON of jiggly soft tofu, crunchy kimchi, and tender beef, all in a savory, a bit spicy, tangy, kimchiy broth. More people should be talking about this spot cuz it’s pretty good.

“My kids knew of this place and suggested it. There is a drive-thru with workers working the line of cars. We opted to park and order at the walk-up window. There were no lines at the time we arrived, thankfully.

The menu is simple. Five choices with drinks and extras. Catering is available. Cashier was courteous and patient. My name was called after a five minute wait, not bad.

Overall the food is good, environment is comfortable, and staff is great.

The wax beans were a standout - snappy and bright with serrano chile, toasted hazelnuts, and a tangy Frenchie vinaigrette. The garden lettuces were crisp and well dressed with radish vinaigrette, fresh dill, walnuts, and shallots. Good vibe, happy staff, great mix of flavors. The orange wine pairing tied it all together. “Totally unexpected find in generally sleepy Montrose! Delighted we found Backbone after living here for 15 years and missing having an elevated meal close by. We shared one appetizer (corn agnolotti) and two entrees (NY strip and ribeye, tai snapper) and all of the food was delicious. The corn agnolotti was al dente and a mix of sweet (corn) and buttery and lemony (sauce). Both the steak and ribeye were tender and flavorful, and the snapper was moist and served with a delightful charred kale. Ask for bread to sop up the agnolotti sauce! Staff was friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our meal!“

“After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

The food was delicious—I especially enjoyed the fried chicken strips and another dish whose name I can't recall. We also ordered beer, and it tasted great.

The two drinks we ordered weren't worth it, though; the beer was the better choice.

Parking downstairs is convenient too: it's free for the first 90 minutes, and $4.50 per hour after that.“

“So this yard house is right next to crypto arena and the peacock theater. Just be aware that there's an event going on at crypto arena that the happy hour is not in effect. So call ahead and make sure that it is but the main reason I go there is for there incredible deals on happy hour appetite and they also have a late night happy hour. So if you're in the area and there's nothing going on, you can always get the same deals with late night there. They seem kind of expensive when you think about it but when you actually see what you get, the quantity is so large that it's ridiculous like their regular chicken nachos is $18. Half price with a half hour special is $9.50 yet when you get it, it's a $20 plate so you get it for truly half price. You can never finish it so bring friends cuz if you order a couple appetizers even their pizzas you're not going to finish it if you just one person so bring a group. Have a good time. After we had all our flowery-needs yesterday I asked my wife to Yelp "best breakfast in DTLA" and it popped up - the Poppy & Rose - and we were standing in front of it. I must say two things: I did not find the ambiance too appealing and they you could hear through the open door it was extremely loud. Still, we gave it a try - and I can tell you: it was delicious. Our server - one you would describe as the typical California surfer boy - was extremely charming - so despite the so-so ambiance (the vibe of this place was great though) and the noise we will definitely go again. Would we make a 30+ min detour just to eat here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five out five): again, oh yes!“
