After a bucket of balls at the driving range, this is where you want to be. If you think you deserve something fancier, you will get suckered by Luminarias next door. Don't do Luminarias… they will let you down. Stay at M Park Cafe. I'm a local, and that's my recommendation.

“My kids knew of this place and suggested it. There is a drive-thru with workers working the line of cars. We opted to park and order at the walk-up window. There were no lines at the time we arrived, thankfully.

The menu is simple. Five choices with drinks and extras. Catering is available. Cashier was courteous and patient. My name was called after a five minute wait, not bad.

Overall the food is good, environment is comfortable, and staff is great.

“While looking for a new place to have dinner with friends, I stumbled upon Girl & the Goat. They had great online reviews, so we decided to give it a try. The wax beans were a standout - snappy and bright with serrano chile, toasted hazelnuts, and a tangy Frenchie vinaigrette. The garden lettuces were crisp and well dressed with radish vinaigrette, fresh dill, walnuts, and shallots. Good vibe, happy staff, great mix of flavors. The orange wine pairing tied it all together. “After our Altadena house burned down, we relocated to Barker Block and absolutely love being so close to Manuela. We used to have a fire table like yours, so dining here always carries a sense of home. Last night we brought friends, and they said, ‘This makes it hard to go out to eat in Monrovia—our restaurants cut corners with cheap ingredients and fast turnover.’ What your chefs create is the opposite: dishes with not just incredible flavor but extraordinary texture and detail. Their expertise is off the charts, and I highly recommend.“

“Backbone was an incredible dining experience from start to finish. I started with the tuna tartare, which was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and had an amazing balance of flavors and textures. From there, I had the corn agnolotti, which was easily one of the highlights of the night. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the delicate, flavorful sauce complemented the sweetness of the corn beautifully.

For my main course, I had the steak and fries. The steak was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor, while the fries were crispy and seriously addictive. Everything on the plate worked perfectly together.

I finished with key lime and scoop of coconut sorbet, which was just as impressive and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted every bit as good as it looked.

What made the experience even better were the people. Every employee I interacted with was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The chef was also incredibly nice and personable, which added such a special touch to the evening. You can tell there’s real passion behind what they’re doing, both in the kitchen and in the way they treat their guests.

The attention to detail at Backbone really stood out to me. The atmosphere was stylish and inviting, the service was exceptional, and the entire meal flowed perfectly from one course to the next.

Backbone is absolutely a restaurant I’ll be coming back to. From the tuna tartare and corn agnolotti to the steak, dessert, and amazing hospitality, the entire experience was outstanding. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while and an easy five stars. Highly recommend!“

“Been coming here for a while. They're always pretty attentive, nice, accommodating. The place is usually clean. Get seated relatively quickly. Food is good. Happy hour is worth it. Large selection of beers. Not many gluten-free beers tho, and they're not part of happy hour.
1 star less cuz i went to the restroom before the food arrived and 1. the restroom smells hit me well before getting to the door. Felt bad for the people sitting near them. 2. The kitchen is next to the bathroom, so overall, it makes it a little un-appetizing.“

“Outstanding experience dining here. Our server was incredible, super knowledgeable, confident, and clearly not their first rodeo with gluten-free dining. They knew every single dish inside and out, proactively pointed out shared fryer cross-contamination details, and clearly walked us through which items were fully gluten-free outside of regular soy sauce (super helpful for anyone with different tolerance levels). Finding a spot where the front-of-house understands dietary nuances that well without making it feel like a hassle is rare. Fantastic food, top-tier service, and total peace of mind. “I am a major foodie always on the hunt for the best hidden gem in LA and this place it’s truly so special. The best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to hands down run by the kindest all family staff. So much love in this food it is sensational. The summer squash and corn, Chilaquiles, enchiladas, horchatas and Flan are sooooo good. All of these dishes were the best versions I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend more.“

“Stumbled upon this place after googling Cajun food in Pasadena. Looked good so I went in. Food was great. They are not breaking new ground on unexplored culinary territory or anything, it’s southern, but it’s done well, quite well actually. Everything had loads of flavour, the fried chicken was salty and wonderful. The bbq shrimp was pumped up with creole seasoning. The angel biscuit was a nice and fluffy biscuit, pretty good, but I found myself wishing it was as served with some honey butter or some sweet element. Salty honey butter would be great. Oh and great prices on the food too.

The service was fine, friendly, attentive, etc.
the restaurant was very bustling too, I swear everyone in there was yelling, made it quite hard to talk to the people I was in town seeing. But oh well. You can talk after.

“Last Friday, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary, and it was truly the best restaurant experience I had in a long time.

The food was delicious, and the scenery was relaxing—even the hummingbirds seemed perfectly in harmony with the beautiful surroundings.

What made the experience especially memorable was the exceptional hospitality. The acting manager last Friday, Julio (if I remember correctly), was outstanding. The way we were welcomed and cared for made us feel genuinely valued and special.

“My wife, daughter and I had a very nice dinner at Lingua Franca on Friday evening. I love the outdoor setting next to the LA River, in LA's Frogtown neighborhood, which is a very interesting and under-rated part of LA. The service was very friendly, food was really excellent, and I'm happy I chose the place for our Friday evening family dinner. With the music they play and the Frogtown location, it is a bit of a hipster place, but we felt very comfortable and welcomed there and we are definitely planning on returning.“

“This is a really neat historic spot, a craftsman home bulit in the 1800's in S. Pasadena repurposed into a restaurant. The vibe is cozy and welcoming. It's like your meeting with friends at someone's home but with professional service, where everyone can just relax and enjoy each other's company. My first visit was with a few girlfriends years ago for their happy hour which runs m-f, from 4-6pm. Since then I've come back for their brunch, and recently dinner. All visits have been memorable and exceptional all around.
They are known for their craft cocktails. My friend had to drink called Latina Medicina and substituted vodka for tequila. It was a citrusy, refreshing drink, beautifuly presented with a large square ice cube, which apparently takes 3 days to make. My husband had the Alien Pool Party cocktail, also refreshing and very fun! We had a lot of laughs with that one. So if you've never been here and are looking for something different, then I recommend you give him a try.“
