“Apparently this shop opened in September, but if you didn't know that, it would be easy to think that it was a pandemic-inspired business. I've been wondering lately how I could take my little girls out for a treat sometime without taking them inside a shop. Then I learned about the Village Corner. It's a tiny little corner of a shop and currently functions as a to-go window. The door is roped off and the owner takes your order from the other side of the rope and hands it to you. And with Ross Common right there, it's easy to find somewhere to hang out to eat your snack. I think they have a variety of snack items, but there big seller is probably the Lappert's ice cream. We got ice cream cones and the owner was flawless in her contact-free presentation. She scooped the cones without touching ice cream or cones and then placed them in a cone holder so that there was no chance of contact between her and the customer.“

“I love the Pump Espresso Bar. Love it. In fact, if I was lucky enough to work from home, I would work from the Pump. The inside is super cute, and it is oddly calming as soon as you walk in. This is saying a lot as I am one of the most high strung, overly driven humans and calm is not in my vocabulary. Lots of great coffee options, and they are all so good! The barista that helped us last time was fantastic and I want to give her all the kudos. She let me taste test their pumpkin syrup and she mentioned that they make it in house. I ended up going with the cardamom latte which seems to be the only drink I get at the Pump Espresso Bar. I keep telling myself to branch out and try a different beverage.Lots of food options that look delicious. “Went for a morning drive to Sausalito from San Francisco. I hadn’t been to this town in ages & wanted to revisit this charming town. I googled places for breakfast & Fred’s looked promising so we headed there. There’s a small shared parking lot next to the cafe & plenty of street parking.It’s a small cafe with some outdoor seating & it was pretty busy on Saturday morning. We were seated at a large shared table with two other people. They didn’t mind & neither did we. Extensive menu- I’d read the most popular items are the lemon ricotta pancakes, egg plate with sweet bacon, deep fried French toast & the Swedish, but looking at fellow customers plates who’d ordered some of the dishes, I decided I could not eat such large portions! I went for the single berry waffle & my husband ordered the veggie omelette. The waffle was delicious; only wish the syrup they served was realMaple syrup. I don’t eat the fake stuff so I skipped it. The omelette was very nice & came with toast & hash browns. We had ordered cappuccino & laughed when we saw the size of the “cup” - almost like a mini bathtub! I’m fussy about my coffee & this one just ok.Overall, a nice little place to enjoy breakfast before walking down to the marina & town center.“
“Red Whale has brought hipster coffee to San Rafael. If you are a coffee aficionado and you haven’t been here yet, you need to be. I love a good latte and Red Whale does not disappoint. Their lattes can easily hang with the likes of Blue Bottle and Equator. And if you are a drip coffee or cold brew person, these guys look legit. They have a wall of glass equipment dedicated to making cold brew (it’s worth going just to see that wall!).There has been as much thought put into the space as they have put into their coffee - with a room dedicated to coffee paraphernalia and a lounge room equipped with a seating area, record player and vintage pinball machines. One thing to note is if you’re in a rush, you may or may not get your coffee quickly. Sometimes the regulars like to chat up the baristas which can slow things down a bit but the coffee is definitely worth the wait.“

The temperature was a bit on the warm side but not overly hot. The milk was just slightly too thin. Even for a cortado I like a bit more air in the milk, not to the consistency of a cappuccino, but the cortado shouldn't taste slippery.Espresso quality, 5/5. I'm not sure what is in their espresso blend, but it stands up to milk really well. It's malty and nutty, but not overly roasted.Ambiance, 3/5. Just average. Boldness of a dark roast with the complexity of something much lighter, this may be my new #1 all time.Regarding the service here, when I placed my order, I got a phone confirmation (sorry, I can't remember who called) and she was such a sweetheart. “It's all about the service here. The point of drive-thru coffee is convenience, right? (And coffee). And somehow Java Hut managed to make this convenience even more convenient. I drove up for the first time the other day. I had maybe one or two cars ahead of me. And an employee (or maybe even the owner) came up to my window to take my order, then brought it out and took my cash before I even made it to the order window! And on top of that, he gave me a dog treat for my dog, who was sitting in the passenger's seat. And not your run-of-the-mill milk bone, but a real, meaty jerky treat. I try to find places with walk up windows, since I pretty much always have my little dog with me (plus I still avoid bringing my not-yet-eligible-for-vaccination 3 year old to indoors spaces), so I was particularly pleased to see that Java Hut also has a walk-up window with pleasant looking covered patio seating. Coffee is Starbucks equivalent, I think, so not, say, Equator or Ritual, but a nicer, more pleasant, convenient, and local experience than Starbucks. And we enjoyed the scone!“

“THIS IS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE DRIVE-UP IN DOWNTOWN NOVATO. I go here every morning before work. It's great. The baristas are super nice and very friendly. Coffee is very, very good. I honestly think I like the seasonal flavors at Marin Coffeen Roasters more than Starbucks'. The toasted marshmallow lattee is to die for. Its not candy coffee like Starbucks. Marin Roasters strikes a perfect balance between flavor and coffee, so youre still tasting coffee as well as flavoring. Pastries are also surprisingly good. Coffee is the same price as Starbucks.As far as "atmosphere", I go to the South Novato Blvd location which is a drive-up so there isnt really much atmosphere to be had to begin with which is why my atmosphere rating is 3 stars, but its still pretty cute. Do NOT take the 3 stars for atmosphere as a negative, its literally just because this specific location is a drive up building. The coffee place before them was also a drive up. The building they happen to occupy is specifically designed for drive up coffee. Also, they take walk-up orders and have dog treats. I don't know why they wouldn't do walk-up, but its still worth mentioning cause you can grab a coffee and a treat for your dog if you're on a walk.The Ignacio and San Anselmo location however ARE sit down cafes, but I've never been there. Judging by pictures, they look very nice and are the place you want to go to if you want to sit down and aren't just picking up coffee and a pastry to goTLDR the coffee is fantastic, I like it more than Starbucks, and the people are great. Go there. Support local and enjoy some of the best coffee in town.“
