“I've been coming here since their old location since 2002. I come for the food, and the sense that these are my "aunties" making the food. I don't know another place that sells pork belly banh mi, but here. If there is, I doubt it would fill up the sandwich as much as they do here. The duck salad and lotus root salad is so refreshing too!“

“Pho City is hands down the best Vietnamese Pho sopt in the greater Sacramento area. It's not just a cool restaurant to dine in, it's great if you want to take away your food as well. The beef pho is the best dish in my opinion, but the chicken soup/pho is just as good. The egg rolls are exceptional. This place came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I recommend to you figure out there. One minor knock is that it is the most excitement pho in Sacramento. But, it's worth every cent.“

“Meeting a friend for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, she recommended we come to Southside Super. I had never heard of this place or dined here before so I was excited to try something new!

When we arrived, it was fairly crowded, but we managed to place our order at the register and snag a seat inside. Unfortunately, having arrived later in the day, all of the hot and cold to-go items were sold out.

I decided to try the chicken pho from their made-to-order menu. My friend ordered the spam fried rice. The food came out relatively quickly, and you can tell that it is absolutely made with the utmost care, love, and highest quality of ingredients.

This was hands-down some of the best chicken pho I have ever had in my life. I will definitely be coming back to Southside Super, especially earlier in the day to try some of their grab and go items, as well as more of their menu.“

There was some confusion bc of the language barrier but we ended up getting some free and very tasty soft tofu pudding. I want to go back soon to try the “egg” rolls and get noodles. I forgot cash so I had to go to the atm at the store across the parking lot. Everyone who worked there was so nice to us too!“

“Cashier has been a long time employee of this outfit and is always friendly. TK noodle has the best noodle soup! Whenever I can get out there, I always order my favorite combination rice noodle soup and it never disappoints. Prices have gone up, but it has to keep up with inflation I guess. We shared the broccoli beef, chicken fried rice, and chicken egg drop soup.

The broccoli beef was phenomenal! In addition to the broccoli, we noticed bok choy, carrots, baby corn, and onion in the mix, which all perfectly complimented the dish. The sauce was delicious.

The chicken fried rice was really good - a pretty basic dish, but we enjoyed it a lot. Some places use vegetables cut larger than I like, but these were a good size.

The soup was also really good. My only issue was there was a LOT of tofu, which I can't eat much of due to a minor allergy, but I was able to just pick the pieces out. The broth itself was amazing.“

We got banh hoi with pork and mi quang. Wanted banh xeo but sold out, wish we got banh beo as well.
Mi quang noodles weren't super strong turmeric flavor and the texture was just ok, but gave a lot of meat and fair value. Everything was hot and filling.“

“10/12/2021 Recommend? Yes. Let's get straight to the point: BEST VEGAN BUN BO HUE. That's it. I'm Vietnamese and since my vegan journey of more than 2 years I haven't been able to find a satisfactory bun bo hue. My favorite ones ever have always been in Viet Nam at a little stall in the market or the neighborhood house that makes it to sell. Here I ordered bun bo hue and cha gio. Do take my review with a grain of salt because I had been hungry for daysssss, well really just 1 day because I was on a train. Lol. The bun bo hue here comes with a paste and you should definitely add it to your bowl. It has banana blossom as a veggie to add, but in addition to that I would also love some morning glory. The broth was well seasoned and not overly sweet like a lot of over bun bo hue and the mushrooms, tofu, and "meats" have well absorbed the flavor of the broth too. The cha gio (eggrolls, spring rolls) were fine. I didn't hate it, but I didn't think they were extra great either.“

“I came here for lunch with a fellow coworker. First time here at this Cafe. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but the inside looks well put together. The decor and dining area looks charming and inviting. Seating is self serve.

We got a table and was greeted almost immediately and provided menus to look through. Our server was nice and polite.

The menu options are simpler compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Upon ordering our food arrived hot from the kitchen with about 15 minutes.

The food came out tasty and very delicious. The egg rolls were crunchy and yummy. My vermicelli noodle with chicken and shrimp turned out well.

Between the lunch order and the two Vietnamese coffee and side order of egg rolls total came to be about $65 with tax and tip which is on the higher side for lunch for two.

Wonderful Cafe is great place to stop by for a quick bite to eat. It’s a charming little place as others have said. Expect great service but be prepared to pay a higher premium for the food. The food won’t disappoint. Will definitely stop by again and try out some of the other items on the menu.

“Stopped by for lunch with some coworkers and the food was fantastic. There Pho bowls are great, the small is huge. Plenty of toppings provided with the bowl. Chicken wing appetizer came out crazy hot in a good way. The take a bite and you see the steam floating off the wing for awhile. Even dressed in sauce the breading was still very crunchy. “A great place for banh cuon. They offer a large variety ofnitems on their menu. Even the banh cuon has many different selections. The portions are very generous, and they include other items on their combo plates. Service is very fast, and the place is very clean. “Probably the best Cơm Gà Hải Nam in the Sacramento area. The ginger-infused fish sauce was absolute perfection—fragrant, balanced, and elevating every bite of the tender chicken and rice. Service was impressively fast, and our server checked in on us several times, making sure everything was just right.

The portions ran slightly on the smaller side, could be an opportunity area. The décor was warm and inviting, adding to the overall dining experience.

I'm happy to find that not only has the restaurant improved their decor but the food has also stayed consistently great! We've stopped in for a family dinner several times & we are never disappointed. Every dish we have tried was delicious! For a family of 5 the price is reasonable. “Tay Giang is the only place in Sacramento that serves up DIY catfish spring rolls, and is great when you're craving something healthy and different.

Grilled Butterflied Catfish DIY Wraps (Spring Rolls) 4/5*
Tay Giang's version is ok and can satisfy my cravings, but it is a copy-cat version of the original slow-baked catfish from Southern California. It seems the catfish here is deep-fried, I believe to cut down on the wait time, but I still prefer the original Vietnamese version where they can take up to 45 minutes to slow roast the catfish. Still, this version is tasty with strong marination and slather of scallion/peanut oil. The deep frying creates a lot of crispy pieces for added texture to your spring roll. But warning.. if you order the small catfish, there isn't much meat and is mostly fried crispy parts, so I recommend the medium fish. Like all Vietnamese dishes, it comes with loads of fresh veggies and herbs. I also like that they provide the flattened vermicelli noodles (banh hoi) instead of rice noodles. They also give you a variety of sauces: tamarind fish sauce, regular fish sauce, and freshly chopped chilis to spice up as you'd like.

Authentic Catfish Claypot 5/5*
Catfish stewed in a peppery carmelized sauce. They didn't have the usual boiled egg with it, but this dish was bursting in flavor. Sweet, salty, savory, and lots of black pepper with hints of spice from the rest chilis. Best eaten with rice to soak up all the sticky sauce and flavor. This dish sends me back to my childhood days.

Bun Bo Hue 4/5*
Flavorful and lots of meats and veggies. I'm not a spicy eater, so I thoroughly enjoyed this BBH. Most other places make it too spicy right off the bat, but here they let you add your own spice. The noodles are springy and broth is perfectly salted to enhance the beefy flavors.

Banh Xeo 1/5*
Don't get this. This was terrible. The batter was so thick and deep fried, inside had too much bean sprouts and onions and not enough pork or shrimp. I've never seen onions in a banh xeo before and it was weird. The batter was what really ruined everything. Banh Xeo is supposed to be thin and crispy, but this was thick and crunchy.

I've also tried their pho here and it was decent but not memorable. The star here, of course, is the catfish spring rolls. They do have an extensive menu though, serving a variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes and well as vegetarian-friendly. They've gone thru tough times during the pandemic and I've seen vandalism and broken windows, but I'm glad they survived the pandemic, because this is the spot when it comes to Vietnamese catfish dishes. I'm hoping they stick around for many more years; we often frequent Tay Giang for dinner.“
