“I haven't ordered the food here yet BUT I have stopped in for the boba many times. They have such a unique boba tea menu from mango pomelo sago to tiramisu lattes along with regular boba tea options as well. I'm way more impressed with their boba tea menu and quality than Boba Guys right across the street. There is also a convenient little kiosk at the front where you can input your order which is nice if you're an introvert, are indecisive, or have anxiety ordering things (lol). My only complaint is that I've tried ordering the boba online for pick up a couple of times and the system hasn't worked for me. I'll input my order, get ready for check out, and as soon as I input my card and press finish it says "oops there is an issue". I tried a few different cards (and know my credit cards are fine) and it still does this. Not sure if that's an issue on my end with internet, etc. but it's happened a couple of times. So I'll mostly just order in person and it's fine. The restaurant side has a mom and pop family feel to it. I'll have to try the food sometime soon!“

“I have tried many Chinese restaurants and this by far is one of my favorites. Not only do they give you huge portions unlike other Chinese restaurants. Their dishes are delicious they have so much flavor and I've never been let down once. For their spicy dishes I'd order extra spicy because they're regular spicy dishes aren't that spicy to me but I also love spicy food and I'm very tolerant to it. If you've never tried this place you have to try it literally it's one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Bay areanow next on my list is the Mongolian beef chowmane which I'm sure I won't be disappointed.“

“If you live work or visit this area you need to go here more often. This place is Hands Down, the best value in the area. Their lunch specials are fantastic you get a main dish, with option of steamed or fried rice or chow mein with it and a soup and of course the fortune cookie for a bit over 10$!! I had veggie chicken stir fry and the hot n sour soup. The soup had strips of sliced carrot, bamboo, fungus tofu and egg. The stir fry had the most delicious sauce. It's called white sauce. Idk what is in it but it's very flavorful. Excellent umami! This is a five star place because of the value ingredients location and the kindness of the staff. Also, I ordered to go and it was ready in less than 10 minutes!! Try this place, you'll love it! I wish this place all the best, they deserve it! ❤️“

I recently visited this welcoming place whose staff was both prompt and attentive, and started with a nice Hot and Sour soup and some crispy and freshly made appetizers - Gyoza and Spring rolls. I followed up with the best Chicken salad I've ever had, the chicken tender and crispy and the vinaigrette perfectly tangy! This clean and spacious restaurant and its simple and tasty menu is a true find in downtown San Carlos and already does a brisk takeout business. “The culinary expedition to 'Smoked Heaven' was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite of the tender, slow-smoked brisket melted in my mouth, releasing a symphony of flavors that were both complex and comforting. The smoky aroma, infused with a subtle hint of hickory, enveloped the meat, enhancing its juiciness and depth of flavor. The accompanying homemade BBQ sauce, with its perfect balance of tangy and sweet, complemented the brisket beautifully, elevating the dish to new heights. The sides, particularly the creamy coleslaw and savory baked beans, were delightful, offering a refreshing contrast to the rich, smoky meat. 'Smoked Heaven' not only delivers on its promise of authentic BBQ excellence but also excels in creating an unforgettable dining experience that leaves you craving more.“

“If you're looking for a good takeout style Chinese restaurant, this place is the spot! The food is really good and the portions are really large! Unlike other sit down restaurants the food comes out in a timely manner and despite how busy it is, the waiters come around and serve everyone. The only downside, I would say, is the size of the restaurant. The place is small and so bringing a large party (larger than 6) is probably a no go. “Visit time stamp: Monday, 032524 at approximately 1230. As we rolled up there was a small line just out the door. This establishment offers take-out only. It's tiny; don't expect a red carpet. Everyone is standing. You order from right to left (you'll see). The base platter starts with either chowmein or fried rice or half & half. From there you can order 1, 2, or three add-ons. Right off the bat, the chowmein base was huge already and I mean humongous. The grub here is deeeelish with gut busting portions. Their food is hot, freshly prepared and is served up by three very efficient women who understand English better than me. They are paying attention and go out of their way to fill the white styrofoam 3-course container, leaving you to think, '...there goes my diet.' On the side (not part of the lunch deal) I ordered 6 pot stickers that were moist, golf ball sized and very delish. Additionally, I ordered a couple of BBQ pork steaks that were wonderful. What a feast. Staff efficiently bags everything so your drive back to the office doesn't end up in a disaster. I highly recommend this establishment. I cannot imagine any other restaurant matching Rickshaw Corner in portions , price or tastiness of food...I'm not kidding you, those pot stickers are the size of golf balls. Cheers.“

The squid was cut as thin as (actually thinner than) bamboo chopsticks, just like angel hair spaghetti. Enjoyed batter. Really good batter. Excellent batter. $14 batter. The string squid was used just to hold deep fried batter together. Nobody ever thought of this unique cooking technique. New invention in the Chinese culinary world. “Order: * Pork Xiao Long Bao * Lamb & Carrot Dumpling * Sliced Beef & Ox Tripe in Chili Oil * Cucumber Salad * House Special Beef Noodle Soup Pros: * Beef Noodle Soup. Great broth flavor and the beef was cut in to bite sized pieces and cooked well enough that the connective tissue was tender and easy to break down, which I find to be so hard to find in the Bay. * Both dumplings were tender and flavorful. The XLB had plenty of soup and the lamb was not gamey. * The sliced beef and ox tripe was cuz so thin that what would normally be too tough/chewy for me was actually pleasant to snack on. * Food came out fast and the servers and kitchen staff were very friendly to us. We sat by the kitchen, which was fun because it was just a huge glass partition where you can see them make all the dumplings from scratch. * Plenty of seating and a fairly spacious interior. Easy, plentiful parking. Cons: * The skin on the dumplings still falls short of DTF, but then again, I've not found any other spot who makes it like them. They're still my gold standard in the Bay. Comments: * 4.5 stars if I could. It's hard to tell someone, "wow, you have to go here," but at the same time, everything was delicious and I really could not find any fault with my experience. If I'm thinking of going for dumplings and beef noodle soup in the mid-peninsula, this will probably be my first thought.“

“Our recent visit to Mingalaba offered a mixed dining experience with both highs and lows. Starting with the appetizers, the vegetarian samusas impressed with their crispy texture and flavorful filling, perfectly complemented by the accompanying sauce. The house special noodle was good, have good coconut curry flavor, but small portion size and a lack of chicken. The mango lassi stood out as a highlight, delivering a smooth and refreshing taste. Conversely, the Burmese iced tea, while enjoyable, failed to leave a lasting impression, resembling standard Thai tea flavors without any unique twist. Moving on to the entrees, the pan-fried string beans with beef proved to be mediocre, with the beef lacking tenderness and the string beans overshadowing it in terms of flavor and enjoyment. Conversely, the pumpkin yellow chicken emerged as the standout dish of the night, boasting flavorful components, although the chunky texture could have been improved with smaller ingredient sizes. An unexpected mishap occurred with the rice order, as regular rice was substituted with coconut rice without any discernible coconut flavor. Despite the culinary ups and downs, service remained a highlight, with an attentive server enhancing the overall dining experience. As we dined on the outdoor patio, ambiance was standard, offering little to comment on. In summary, Mingalaba offers a varied dining experience with both hits and misses. While certain dishes shine, others fall short of expectations, making it a decent option for a meal but not necessarily a standout choice.“

“This has become our go-to dumpling spot in the Peninsula. I have been looking for an authentic Northern Chinese dumpling restaurant around the San Mateo area for years. So glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem! Although it is a "no frills" vibe old Chinese restaurant, it's always packed for lunch on weekends, so I recommend going early before peak lunch time to get a table. We have come here 1-2x a month since we discovered Town of Dumpling“

“Although I don't particularly like Lanzhou Ramen, I wanted to try something new, so I came here today. I ordered traditional Lanzhou beef noodles and braised beef noodles respectively. The texture of the noodles is smooth, the braised beef has a rich and delicious flavor, and the soup base is not too heavy on MSG. Overall, I am satisfied. A few parts of the noodles were not completely opened, but the impact was minor.Although I'm not particularly fond of Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles, I wanted to try something new, so I came here today. “Enjoyed crab ragoons, honey walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef (not spicy), scallop chow mein, and hot tea.No alcohol selection seen, nor offered, but I didn't ask. Each dish was absolutely amazing. I can appreciate what other reviewers are saying about the particularly amazing chow mein, rich flavors in each dish while light on salt.Small cozy place with rich visual environment.Between fast friendly service, flexibility on dishes, simple menu, amazing taste, and price, I look forward to going back soon.Vegetarian options: Menu items are separate from protein selection, so you can pick any dish and ask for a vegetarian protein.Dietary restrictions: Anything spicy can be made not spicy upon request.Parking: Street parking, easily found a spot in this residential neighborhood.Kid-friendliness: Our waiter was kid and engaging with our 7 year old with a select pallette.Wheelchair accessibility: Appears to be ADA compliant. “The fried chicken is cooked well, but the flavor is a bit light. The baked pork chop rice has more rice than toppings, but the taste is good. The milk tea lacks a strong tea flavor and is mediocre. Overall, for afternoon tea, the price, taste, and service are decent. The chicken breasts were fried well, but the taste was bland! Baked pork chop with rice, more rice but less food, but delicious. The milk tea doesn't have enough tea flavor, it feels numb. As for afternoon tea, the price, taste, and service are all of a high standard.“

“Chef Wang's is a nice little spot serving up delicious Chinese Korean cuisine. We ordered the Seafood Combination, Salt and Pepper Fish, and Jjampong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup). The Seafood Combination was deliciously umami with plenty of the wok flavor. It included scallops, sea cucumbers, shrimp, and plenty of choy so definitely a great dish to share. Salt and Pepper Fish was fried nicely and had a beautifully crunchy texture. This peppers were not as spicy, so we added a few sprinkles of white pepper to bring up the heat. A nice cook on it nonetheless. The JJampong portion here is huge and can definitely share between two or three people with plenty of noodles to go around. The soup is adorn with zucchini, cabbage, onions, shrimp, clams, and small slices of pork. The broth is ever so spicy, not too salty. I am used to the broth having more of a seafood flavor, but this one definitely had more of a vegetable broth taste. Service was nice and attentive, but restaurant was a bit more empty as we had arrived mid day. Overall, there was plenty of flavor in the fishes, good portions, and we can't wait to come here again to try other dishes as the menu is quite unique given its combination of cultures.“

“We love the chicken chow mein. Kids love the bbq pork chow mein and fried rice!! It has that nice taste to it. Love it. We also enjoy the hot and sour soup. The Mongolian beef plate isn't that spicy and is great and flavor as well. It's more or a quick take out place. I usually place my order there and usually my order is done with 15 min.“

“Honestly unexpectedly good food. The dumplings are top notch. “It's easy to get walnut shrimp right. It's sweet, and nothing too fancy to get too wonky. But chow fun is definitely a different animal. Add prawns into that and it has the possibility of everything going sideways. This restaurant though had both of those dishes down pat. Even the Rangoon is better than I've had at most places. Honestly a super good meal, well priced, and good portion sizes. The BBQ bun did seem a bit doughy but everything else was so good it didn't affect my score at all(Plus doughy just means they actually cook them there, rather than frozen Robert Sysco food.)I'm posting a picture but do know I ate quite a bit first. I was hungry and I didn't plan on sitting around, IG-ing my shrimp dish. There was a ton more shrimp, I promise.Great job. Great food. Good prices and good portions.“
