New American Restaurants in San Jose, CA

“What a freaking gem. This spot gives off serious LA or NYC vibes right in the heart of downtown SJ. The decor alone deserves a shoutout: stunning tall ceilings, gorgeous wood and metal accents, natural tones, and even a couple of olive tree centerpieces that ties it all together in a sleek, contemporary way. If you need a date night spot, try to lock in a reservation here.

The elevator bar is probably one of the most unique features I've ever seen, shuttling bottles of liquor from the downstairs bar to the loft bar. The loft area wasn't open yet, but I could already picture it being the perfect place to pre-game and soak in the energy from the restaurant below.

The food is dialed in. New American with a Mediterranean twist. The open kitchen concept is a nice touch, letting you watch your dishes as they're being prepared. Highly recommend ordering family style to share. The octopus is an absolute must--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The lobster pasta was decadent - pricey, but you get huge chunks of lobster that makes it worthwhile. We also ordered the monster ribeye topped with some insane butter, cooked medium rare. If you have a group of 4 or more, do it.

The drinks were fantastic, though more subdued in flavor compared to their other concepts like Paper Plane or Mini Boss. I'd recommend dinner at Eos & Nyx, then cap off the night with a cocktail at one of their other bars.

This is a game-changer for downtown SJ. It really reminded me of Bavel in downtown LA, one of my favorite restaurants ever. Excited to see this place finally open!“

“Yard House is the perfect spot for beer lovers and foodies alike! They have an impressive selection of draft beers, offering something for every palate. The place is massive and usually packed, creating a lively and energetic vibe. Their late-night happy hour from 10-12 PM is a great deal, making it even more enticing. We absolutely loved their iconic onion ring tower and found all their appetizers to be delicious and well-prepared. The drinks and overall atmosphere make it a fun spot to hang out with friends and enjoy a great evening. Highly recommend!“

“Food was excellent! Flat iron steak was done med rare as ordered. Chicken with cranberry sauce and brussels sprouts was perfect. The delicious apple/caramel bread pudding definitely enough to share. The atmosphere is an older converted garage but it is well worth going for the food!

“First and foremost Ben made our night wonderful. While we’ve been to this location back when we were kids, and now we’re bringing our kids, and the food has been tasty each time, tonight, it was Ben. Non alcoholic beer, mocktail, cream ale, the calamari was good, the pastas were tasty, Gorgonzola salad was bomb….but again, after all of that, tonight…it was Ben. His communication, timing, friendliness, and care for us is what will bring us bank….it would be absolutely awesome if more dining liaisons were like Ben. Thx to him, bravo!“

“One of the cornerstones of San Pedro Square with its Nuvo -French cuisine and moderate pricing. Today I had the Caesar salad and a tri-tip risotto (the day’s special). My buds had a steak which “was the best I have ever had”, the carbonara, and the bruschetta. Although I didn’t have room today, their creme brûlée is to die for. Give this place a chance!“

“Food is nothing short of amazing. Large menu and especially good for vegetarians and those who are into healthy options and unwilling to sacrifice taste. Really good kids menu. It's crowded and loud on Friday night, so you'll need a little patience if you go then.“

“I love coming here for a slice of pizza, however tonight was the worst experience. They told us they were not making the pizza we wanted and then proceeded to bring that slice out after we order a whole pie. The picture of that pie is displayed and the presentation was deplorable. Additionally, they did not give the full fixens as requested. Whoever is on staff for Sunday nights needs some help because this is not the same group I am used to on other given days.“

“This spot is tucked away and is definitely worth it the small walk to get to it. The inside and outside vibes are great, the music selection is perfect, the food and drinks are amazing, and our pup loves to chill here.

Although you can walk in, I highly recommend making a reservation to ensure you get a seat!“

“Greeted warmly as i entered and met a friendly smile at the register. It was my 1st time at this location, Almaden, and very surprised by the great variety of offerings. I went with the portobello mushroom panini and tomato bisque soup. YUM YUM delicious 😋 Looking forward to coming back with my squad and trying different items. Come check this!“

“Good consistent food across the Aqui restaurant chain. This location is no exception. Very tasty and fresh food offerings. It also has a nice casual ambience, very open and bright.“

“I had the Chicken Mix Bowl with the smokey chipotle sauce and it was AMAZING. I am allergic to dairy, gluten, and soy so being able to not worry about that with my meal was so nice. I also have ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) and have a really hard with certain textures, usually chicken is really hard for me to eat but I had no issues with this chicken!! The texture was consistent all the way through, pulled apart really easily, and was just overall amazing. The portions are really good and the food is very flavorful. I'm really happy with my meal. Thank you guys for the amazing food. I highly recommend this place!!“

Cool atmosphere, plenty of standing and sitting room both indoors and outdoors. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their drinks both on/off menu if fairly good. However, a few cocktails were either extremely sweet or extremely sour to the point of them being barely drinkable.“

“I’ve eaten here twice with a wide sampling of dishes and Devine is absolutely mind blowing. Their mixtures of flavors is truly a beautiful form of art……and I don’t think I’ve ever said that about any restaurant! Goat cheese and caramel? It’s now a go to for our own charcuterie board at home……Herb infused brittle and cheese? I need to have more! It is truly perfection! Last night we enjoyed their four course meal (i highly suggest two people get their own and split, there’s two choices for the salad/soup, main, and dessert, you don’t want to miss out on anything!). Every bite we took had us stop in awe. Devine is a gem! We even loved that the employees/owners come with laughs and personality. It’s a fun and light environment that added so much more to our experience. As the place got busy, our waiters didn’t waver in his attention for anyone! “I recently visited Four points By Sheraton and had the pleasure of being served by Ignacio . From the moment I sat down, their warm and friendly demeanor made me feel right at home. They took the time to recommend drinks based on my preferences, and their knowledge of the menu was impressive.

What stood out most was their genuine kindness; they engaged in conversation, asked about my day, and made sure I was enjoying my experience. It’s rare to find someone who not only serves but also creates a welcoming atmosphere.

“Wonderful Experience at Trails Pub in San Jose!

Trails Pub in San Jose is a gem that should not be missed. Whether you're looking for a delicious meal, a relaxed atmosphere, or a great selection of drinks, this place has it all. Nice beers on tap, loved the Smithwicks. My partner had Dragon's Slayer. We wanted to play darts, and you can just request darts from the amazing bartender.

I can't wait to return and try more of their offerings.“
