“I like coming here for a quick lunch. It’s affordable price for Chinese food around Marin County. Generally, the food portion is not consistent here. Someday I will be lucky to get big portion, while most of the time the portions are generally very small.
The foods mostly hot & fresh at this location. It would be nice if the customer services here are more nicer.“

“Shrimp noodle roll - excellent
Glutinous rice & chicken dumpling - excellent
Crispy shrimp & meat tofu skin roll - good, would have been excellent if it's a tad saltier
Siumai - good but not outstanding
House special pan fried noodle - good with premium proteins
Dry-fried string bean - ok, a bit overcooked
Coffee-glazed baby back pork ribs - not good, the sauce was ok but the ribs had very little meat and not crispy enough on the outside. Koi Palace makes a much better version.
The prices were on the expensive side for dim sum. Service was excellent. Waiting to get into the (only) restroom required lots of shuffling to make ways for staff going in/out of the kitchen and cashier's stand.“

“The Peking duck was fabulous and juicy! We got a half, which we were surprised how little it was. We should have had a full. You have to reserve the duck before you get there.
We had a meat roll I think it was. It was amazing! My friends mom doesn’t like spicy so we got this roll. Highly recommend! Lots of veggies and excellent sauce!“

“Honestly, incredibly solid, quick and tasty meal for the family.
$10 kids plates that a plated on a kid friendly plate with a protein, veggie and carb.
We get the cucumber salad which is fantastic and can divide a main with salad.
Total out the door is just about $60 which for a family of 4, isn’t terrible and leaves us all happy.“

“Checked out Dumpling Zone and really liked it. Their choice of dumplings was a lot to choose from and they came out hot, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot.
The place feels simple and laid-back, and the staff kept things moving quickly. Solid little spot for a casual meal“

“The staff was very friendly and the food came out super quick! We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, the eggplant tofu, and the cashew chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was perfectly crispy with the right balance of sweet and sour. The eggplant tofu wasn’t soggy, it had a perfect texture and flavor. The cashews in the cashew chicken was addicting. The portions are also a good size. Would come here again!“

“Very yummy experience - would recommend the beef noodle soup, onion and egg pancake, and cucumber salad. Noodle portions are huge and food comes out quickly. We went on a Saturday at noon and were seated immediately, ladies serving us were very sweet. Note that it’s cash only. Highly recommend, we will be back!“

“There’s so many authentic Chinese places in San Francisco, but it’s hard to find the American-style Chinese food I grew up with in suburban Georgia. I finally found it here, this place really hits home for me. The general tso’s chicken is delicious, and so is the hot and sour soup. They have a great value lunch special, it’s $15 for the whole combo including rice, soup, and egg roll.
If you’ve been looking for good American style Chinese food in San Francisco, this is the best I have found yet. I will definitely be coming back!“

“San Tung is famous for a reason—the food is absolutely delicious. Their signature dry fried chicken is crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Every dish is made with care and served hot and fresh. The restaurant is busy, but the service is efficient and well-organized. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in the USA.“

“Really good 小笼包. Chinese owned, operated and staffed. You’re getting the real deal here. Beef noodles were pretty decent too. One thing I like is that unlike most Chinese eateries - the MSG here isn’t too strong. Pig ear salad were alright, could do with a bit more kick in flavour. Overall - a great meal and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for good Chinese food.“

“California-style Cantonese cuisine! I really like the decoration style here, which always makes me feel better when dining here. The golden lotus chandelier and the gold and silver wire lamp are definitely the best decoration! 👍The pastries here are also worth mentioning! Pineapple buns, wife cakes, black sesame banana cakes with miso sugar!“

“I'm just trying places that are supposed to have good hot and sour soup. The one here is vegetarian with strong sour flavor. I like the addition of seafood mushrooms to it. The white pepper flavor is strong. It's pretty good and priced at about $9.50 +tax for a 2 quart container that is not quite full.“

“forgot to take pic of dumplings but got the Napa cabbage and pork dumpling ($12.99 for 14 dumplings) which is such a killer price! Love how you can tell the dumplings are house made (the dumpling dough is chewy and comes out steaming) and goes so well with soy sauce and chili oil.“

“Great food, service, and location. Clean, bright, with large glass windows looking out on Columbus and Broadway. Exceptionally clean bathrooms, which is uncommon in this business, and so definitely got our appreciation! We made reservations, so there was no wait.“

“I think this is the best hot pot restaurant I've been to in California. Very clean and spacious with an attentive, thoughtful and kind owner/server. There are lots of options for the hotpot, all are available, and none are overpriced. One important detail for me and other people with allergies is that it's peanut-free, so I can even enjoy suspiciously peanutty things like sesame paste without worrying. I would definitely come back and take friends.“

“I am obsessed with Mulan Malatang! I love all of their toppings - especially the bamboo and money bag dumplings. The owner is so sweet and it has a very homey vibe. It’s a great place for a solo dinner or with friends. My favorite is the pork bone both, extra spicy. Hits the spot every time!“

“Benson and his wife are amazing and I'm happy to say that me and my family are regulars with them. We don't go there as often, but when we do, we always order from them. From time to time me and my father would have lunch there and chat with Benson and his wife. They're great folks and hard working. The restaurant is great, food is great, and the neighborhood that they're located in is great. Cozy and quiet, not too crazy, bustling but just enough to know that you can enjoy your food without rushing out the door.
Benson, or his wife, if you're reading this, you guys are great.“
“What a great find! Generous portions, friendly and cheerful service, fairly quick service, and very, very reasonably priced! The salt-pepper prawns were large and perfectly crisp. Dumplings were large and full of filling. Dry green beans were a hit with the teens and my husband! And pan-fried noodles had plenty of beef and vegetables. Will definitely return to this restaurant the next time we visit SF.“

“We stumbled upon this place while exploring Chinatown as tourists, hoping to try some authentic Chinese food. The restaurant was packed, which gave us a good feeling, and it definitely did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The beef with broccoli was tender, the noodles were delicious, and every bite felt homemade. Great portions, friendly service, and an authentic atmosphere. One of our favorite meals in San Francisco. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real, delicious Chinese food!“

“Great option for interesting vegan Chinese food in the Mission, they have menu items that are different then the typical Chinese fare. Appreciate that items are clearly labelled if they are vegan or can by made vegan. There are a good variety of options for vegan apps and mains.
Got the vinegar peanuts which were really delicious, difficult to stop eating them, very addicting with the vinegar flavor.
The mapo tofu with mushroom was good, not as spicy as expected. The star of our meal was the cabbage with pistachio milk. It's more of a pistachio cream type sauce on top, and the sauce becomes milky as it mixes with the juice that comes out of the cabbage. The cabbage was amazing, very flavorful and delicious with the pistachio sauce, would definitely get this again next time.
Service was quick and there was no wait at ~8:30pm on a Thursday night.“

“This place absolutely rules, everything I’ve ever had here has been great. I’d highly recommend the grilled meats, especially the pork - it had a wonderful charred flavor and crispy edges without being at all dried out. Will be coming back again and again.“

“Great place for home style Cantonese comfort food. Good quality and value. Portion sizes are generous. Service is quick and efficient. Sunday evenings are packed for family dinners. Mid week it was relaxed as locals came and went to grab their takeout or grab a quick dinner. Every dish was spot on. Check out the Crispy Skin Chicken or Curry Beef Stew.“

“Came here twice for lunch, and the food has been uniformly delicious. The service is friendly. At lunch time several tables were occupied by single dinners talking (loudly) on their phones for most of the meal which is why I bumped down one star for atmosphere.“

“I personally think this is the best Human restaurant in Bay Area. My husband being a Hunan native said this is the real authentic Hunan flavor. The portion is also pretty big for the price. “Really enjoyed the Mala spicy fish fillet mixian! The broth was the highlight deep, flavorful, and super comforting. The fish tasted fresh and tender, and the noodles soaked up the flavor really well. The restaurant felt clean and cozy, and the service was friendly. There was no long wait when we went. The prices are reasonable too. Definitely will come back!“

“This is my first time trying this place. I arrived at 10 and it wasn't that busy yet. I ordered 4 different types or rice rolls, preserved duck egg congee and soy milk to go for $45. I tried one of the rice rolls and the soy mil before leaving. I enjoyed the food so much! I like how they have a small sauce station where you can add different sauces and sesame seeds.
I can eat rice rolls several times a week. Looks like this will be one of our regular spots!“

“My favorite hole in the wall Chinese food I crave for when it comes to dumplings. They do fried or boiled.
It’s about the wrapper… fresh made and ingredients inside that counts.
They do good Americanized Chinese food too… best tender kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef.“

“Classic Chinatown spot that delivers solid, honest Chinese comfort food. We ordered several dishes — a spicy noodle broth loaded with bean sprouts, scallions and chili oil that had real depth; a wonton noodle soup with generously filled dumplings in a clean broth; a sautéed offal dish with red onion and chili that was bold and well-seasoned; and what appeared to be a hot & sour soup with good body. Everything came out hot and fresh. The menu is trilingual (Chinese/English/Vietnamese) with a wide variety at reasonable prices. Service is efficient in true Chinatown style — don't expect pampering, do expect the real deal. A reliable stop if you want to eat well without fuss in the heart of SF's Chinatown.“

“If you go to The Happy Crane for one thing, make it the Peking duck — it's the star of the meal, hands down. The lacquered skin arrives shattering-crisp and mahogany-dark, sliced into neat squares that crackle the second you bite in, with just enough rendered fat clinging underneath to keep it rich without being greasy. The meat itself is tender and well-seasoned on its own, so even the slices without much skin still hold their own.
What really elevates it is the spread that comes with it: paper-thin house-made wrappers, a rich hoisin-style sauce, and a beautiful spread of julienned scallion and cucumber alongside jewel-toned pickled plum wedges for a tart, palate-cleansing contrast. Building your own wraps at the table turns it into an interactive, genuinely fun course rather than just a plate of meat.
I'd actually met Chef James previously at a collaboration dinner at Nisei with Chef David Yoshimura, so I was curious to see his cooking in his own space — and this meal did not disappoint. His hand is precise and confident across the board.
We rounded out the meal with several other dishes, all well executed:
Beef shin & celery root — deeply savory, glazed and fragrant with herbs, comfort food elevated
Firecracker shrimp — whole prawns with a crackly, herb-flecked shell, a fun and messy start to the meal
Maine sea scallop dumpling — delicate steamed wrappers crowned with glistening ikura, elegant and briny
Crispy maitake cheung fun — silky rice noodle rolls with crisp mushroom and chili crunch, a great textural contrast
Chasiu iberico pork jowl — awesome. Tender, fatty, char-kissed pork under crisp apple and fennel, one of the standout bites of the night
Every dish showed real technique and thoughtful plating, and the staff matched that quality — warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout the meal, which made the whole evening feel even more special.
But it's the duck that will bring me back — it's easily some of the best I've had in the city, and worth the trip on its own.
Perfect for a special dinner or anytime you want to treat yourself to a proper duck course done right. Highly recommend requesting the duck in advance if they offer it, as it's clearly the kitchen's showcase dish.“
