“An absolute SF classic that lives up to the hype! The English cut prime rib was perfectly aged, tender, and juicy, spun tableside from the silver dome cart—pure theater. Loved the Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach, and that massive baked potato. Cocktails are strong and old-school. The retro vibe with white tablecloths feels like stepping back in time. Reservations essential, but it's worth it for a special occasion meat-lover's feast.“

“We dined in for a late lunch as a family of three. The yelp waitlist indicated a 10-20 minute wait and we were surprised to receive a text 5 minutes later.
Food came out hot and fresh. We ordered the Juicy Pork Bao, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Zha Jiang House Special Bean Paste with Mince Pork, Boiled Pork and Chive Dumplings and Fried Tofu.
While there is no separate kids menu, our thirteen month old loved his food so much that he stayed in his high chair for the duration of the meal.

“Perfect place for quick bites before symphony concert. Didn’t get a table when we walked in at 6:15 despite the fact that there were many empty tables. We were guided to the bar. Food was very tasty and the only issue was some of the peanuts in the tea salad were not fresh. Also when we felt the steak was too raw and asked if the dish could be cooked a little more, the guy who delivered the dish was obviously upset but he did take it back to kitchen after mumbling something about California law which we were not sure what he was talking about. The steak came back perfect. Hen of the wood/fried maitake mushrooms is a must try. Overall we enjoyed the meal and spent $135 for two people ordered two nonalcoholic drinks, three appetizers and one steak main dish. Portions are on the small side.“

“The food was amazing. We had a vegan version of the pumpkin chickpea curry and the tofu chow mein. The curry felt unlike typical curries which are heavy and oily. The chow mein had a wonderful toasty aroma and a blend of vegetables. The tofu was fantastic too. The only small negative was that it was very noisy.“

“I visited Mashita Galbi Jjim on a Sunday evening around 6 PM with a party of four, and to my surprise, there was no wait—we were seated right away. With only two staff members working the floor, the restaurant still managed a steady rhythm of service. The space itself is inviting, with a high ceiling that makes it feel airy, a clean bathroom (always a plus), and a generally cozy environment that sets the stage for a comfortable meal.
For food, we ordered two dishes: the pork tonkatsu and their signature galbi jjim. The tonkatsu arrived quickly, golden and crispy, delivering the kind of satisfying crunch and savory bite you’d expect from a well-executed cutlet. The galbi jjim, however, was a different story. It took about 30 minutes to reach our table, which seems to be the norm based on observing other tables. While the wait did build anticipation, it also disrupted the pacing of the meal. When it did arrive, the flavors were solid—rich, hearty, and braised with care—but not quite at the level of depth or complexity I’ve had elsewhere. Personally, I still prefer Daeho’s version, which leans more memorable in both flavor and overall experience.
Service was professional and efficient given the limited staff, though not particularly warm or engaging. It felt more functional than personal, but everything we needed was taken care of without issue.
In terms of ambiance, Mashita balances casual comfort with a slightly polished feel, making it a nice spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
Value-wise, the restaurant is fairly priced for the quality and portion sizes. While the food is solid and the dining experience smooth overall, I didn’t find it compelling enough to make this my go-to spot for galbi jjim.
Final verdict: 4/5. A reliable option with cozy ambiance and decent execution, but not quite distinctive enough to stand out in a city with strong competition.“

“Been coming since they first open and I know and read it’s hit or miss on service depends on the day and person working but for my years of experience I’ve always enjoyed it. As long they get the usual food I order right and on time, on top of that food and dessert is good than this place is a four star for me. They don’t need to check on us or serve us like kings or queens because it’s a Hong Kong dessert house people. It’s not Gary danko with a $$$$ sign. The price is good. I usually get the egg puff which is better than all egg puff location even eggette. The HK milk tea is good but not as good as honk kong, fried garlic chicken wings, soy sauce wings,ham egg sandwich and mix fruits. Oh their green tea ice cream is a no no but vanilla is fine. They use the same batter for the waffle as the egg puff which is so yummy! Moving on that’s my usual order which has kept me going here for years. Wish they open earlier but I know they cater to the late people.“

“Got the jian bing guo zi (burrito) for $14. Came with egg, scallions, crunchy lettuce, hoisin, sesame, mayo, and choice of chicken, beef, pork floss, or sausage (can pick 2 out of 4). Ordered via a very clear self-service menu and ready in 5 min. Came out piping hot and precut into two halves, perfect for sharing. Heavy sizable portions. “A no-frills place for authentic comfort Chinese (and a few other non-Chinese but still Asian) dishes that is very convenient for those arriving late at SFO airport (they open past midnight). Walking distance to a few hotels or to a bus stop along El Camino Real, which passes several hotels in the area. I ordered the beef rib pho and fried oysters. I was satisfied with my meal and the beef rib was tender and flavorful. If ever I arrive in SF late at night on another trip, I won't hesitate to eat at this restaurant again.“

“This is just as bomb as it was years ago when I lived here. Get the garlic edamame. I admit I am biased. I prefer Asian food to all other food. I lived in Asia.. The banh mi sandwich is on point. The food was amazing. All the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. The flavors were well balanced and complex. Generous portions at such a reasonable price.
Highly recommend the spicy braised beef noodle soup with the signature housemade noodles. The noodles were cooked to perfection with a nice bite and chewiness without being doughy, and were flavorful thanks for the rich broth. The soup has a kick which was entirely welcome and the spice paired well with the sourness, cutting through the heaviness of both the beef and the wheat noodles. Will definitely be back to enjoy more!

“Try the steamed rice rolls. We tried the beef brisket rice roll and chose the green onion and mushroom toppings. These are made fresh and took about 5 minutes to cook. The brisket was tender and tasty and if you like spicy food make sure to add the jalapeno soy sauce. This was delicious. Value-wise this was good. Orders are larger than ordering at dim sum restaurants.

The crab and mantou rolls can be had here are only available in few places in the city that serve Singaporen chilli crab. The sauce was nice and tangy. We got the tamarind one not the pepper sauce but I think they have both.
The otak otak was ok.
Sambal was also ok.
The laksa was very bland. Not enough coconut milk in the broth.
Overall one or the few places to get Singaporean food in SF. But if you want a lower price point prefer Dabao Singapore.“

“A Chinese friend introduced to this place many, many years ago, rediscovered it recently. Been there a number of times since, food good, prices low. Contrary to some reviews, I do not find staff to be rude, in fact they are friendly and approachable, esp when you are return customer. Husband and wife run the place, they are there all the time, work hard, long hours to make a living. I would recommend to anyone looking for a family restaurant with authentic Chinese cuisine!“

“Kayah is another location of the Burma empire in SF. The location is quite nice, right next to the Chase stadium and hospital. The service is excellent, our server was attentive and took great care of us, answering questions about dishes in detail.
The good is where this place really falls short. We found the dishes to be quite bland and sometimes undercooked. We ordered the spicy noodles, which were not spicy at all and the noodles very very al dente. The several tofu dishes we ordered tasted identical, the paratha curry had very little flavor, it was just very disappointing. The saving grace was the tea leaf salad and the garlic eggplant dish, both were quite tasty. But for the price, I really expected more, both in quantity but especially quality.
We really wanted to like this place but will not be coming back.“

“I love this damn place! I am from LA County and just HAVE to stop here at some point whenever I visit. I usually get the shao mai, beef roll pancake, or the pork shrimp dumplings w/ chives. Recently tried the pan fried Shanghai dumplings and enjoyed them. That honey flavored grapefruit drink? Maaaaaan SO GOOD. I usually get two of those because they are just so tasty and refreshing.“

“Ordered delivery for Chicken and Cabbage bowl with extra chicken + green smoothy. It was so DELICIOUS! As a healthy eater and meal prepper I struggle to find healthy eats while traveling. This had the perfect blend of healthy and tasty. I am also glad I went with extra chicken (a single serving wouldn’t have been enough). If you are looking for a protein rich meal I recommend adding on. I would say with the extra chicken serving. This will now be my go-to place for delivery.

“I saw someone sharing this dish and that’s what made me order it. But omg this is a HUGE Portion. It actually says serves 1-2. It is delicious! Not as spicy as it looks. Full of assorted seafood and some thinly sliced pork. The noodles texture is PERFECT.
