“TL;DR amazing rustic decor with equally amazing new American-style food to match I came here on a weekday to hang out with some friends and was recommended by the attendant in their adjoining coworking space that the chicken sandwiches were the choice to make and it definitely didn't disappoint. Keeping it short and simple, I rarely ever crave new American cuisine since it's a hit or miss and some are good but most are mediocre with a price tag that isn't palatable, however, Bivouac was a clear exception The chicken sandwich was great, it was juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The bun was lightly toasted inside and the cheese paired with the arugula and pickled onions were a blissful pair. The pickled onions cut through the fattiness and the arugula added a nice slightly bitter flavor contrast that I enjoyed Food aside, the decor was also well aligned with there themed location next door, the seating we had was a swing in a c-shape and moved all the c-shaped bench together which added a bit of thrill. It felt similar to a childhood experience and felt like one of those swings you'd have in your grandparent's yard or something similar Overall the setting and food were something I would come back to, if the interior was the only hallmark of this place I would likely not come back but the food from everyone I was with seemed to suit their taste buds well and equally fill everyone up“
“this place is very good. amazing options for vegetarian and in general. the food is amazing and pretty healthy too. the service is impeccable and they are always asking me if i’m doing okay and i just find customer service like that to be superb. and they have craft soda! the kind of soda that doesn’t make you feel fat when you get it and is just the better soda options altogether. definitely on the pricey side with my ordering coming in at 15 dollars every time but for the quality i think it’s worth it.“

“Lovely spot for brunch! The quality of food and service was outstanding. Very happy with our latte and lemonade drink choices, as well as the food. One of us had the French toast and the other had the turkey Benedict. The turkey Benedict was really unique and delicious. French toast was tasty and fresh. The staff is so friendly and everyone seems genuinely kind. We will be back! There are many things on the menu I have my eye on to try.“

“Beautiful heated outdoor patio and dog friendly. One thing I dislike is that cocktail drinks are about 4oz and paying $15.00. Service is a little slow , they kinda forget about you. “Came here for lunch with a coworker and had their nachos and their fish and chips. I also ordered the chicken wings which were really good. The nachos were good and so were the toppings. The fish and chips were good and came with brussels sprouts that were pretty tasty. The staff is friendly here and the ambience is cute. Will definitely come back again to try more of their menu. “This review is long overdue. Buckboard BBQ catered a team dinner for Granite Hills Football. We hosted 95 people after practice and hands down this was one of the best experiences for the boys. The food was INCREDIBLE. The boys got seconds and thirds of all the options and the serving staff was phenomenal. Bonus Buckboard was generous enough to provide dinner for our boys at a cost we could afford. Thank you for the wonderful food and team dinner. We have frequented the restaurant many times since then and every dinner was amazing. El Cajon has a GEM in Buckboard BBQ.“

We had the french toast, which really seemed to be bread dipped in whipped eggs and milk, and grilled in oil. It lacked sweetness and cinnamon. “We went to Smokey and the brisket on a Friday with my husband's family, we all have various wants and desires and Nicki handled all of our very different things with grace and professionalism. From our crying child about a cheese pizza to our grumbling bride working on her veil (at a BBQ place I know not the best idea but I was trying to get it done before Sunday) his family had flown in and were starving. She was fast and considerate to us and all around made that experience. Even joked with me about how a chicken sandwich without pickles was a crime against chicken sandwiches everywhere. Service can be a little slow when dining during busy times and sometimes getting a table can take a few minutes. “I got the mac buffalo chicken fries and loved them theyre pretty big. In my opinion meant to share. There wasnt much cheese on it, and the cheese tasted like a nacho cheese instead of a mac n cheese, cheese. But its fast food so Im not sure what I was expecting.Also tried the pulled pork mac n cheese fries. Didnt like the barbque sauce mixed with rhe nacho cheese sauce, didnt know it would come with barbque. Last restaurant i got pulled pork mac, the pork came and held up flavor on its own. I will ask for it without barbqueue sauce next time.Still give it a 4/5 rating overall. Clean place, unique drink selection, easy to find, not much parking and drive through was closed.
