“My favorite soondubu place! Korean restaurants don't usually have much vegan banchan but Surawon always has plenty of options, usually at least 4 out of the 6 or so banchan are vegan. My favorites are the firm tofu and seaweed. The mushroom, seaweed, and veggie soondubu, as well as the japchae, bibimbap, and pajeon can all be made vegan, and everything is excellent. Service is quick and friendly!Vegetarian options: Plenty of clearly labeled vegan options on the menu“

“My favorite Korean spot in Los Angeles. Did some research online for good kimchi and discovered this place. Their kimchi is fantastic, but then I also discovered this entire meal. This is perfect comfort food. Sunday mornings. Rainy afternoons or pretty much anytime you need something soupy in your life.“

“The soup taste, quality, quantity, and side dishes including crab are definitely the best. However, I could be stressed because I was busy, but I felt bad when one of my aunts was unfriendly. Other servers brought it to me, but no matter what I asked for, they wouldn't give it to me... Still, this is the best soup in Koreatown.“

“Wow! The best marinated pork ribs! Come on down to Jin Ju. It isn't an all you can eat spot, but you can't beat the quality. My friend and I decided to try the prime beef and the marinated pork ribs (which is their speciality). Both meats were very delicious. They pretty much cook your food for you. The beef was cut into nice cubes. They were cooked at a perfect medium rare. The prok ribs were also cut into pieces, as well. There was a good selection of 10 types of banchan: fishcake (eomuk bokkeum), sesame broccoli, kimchi, potato salad, cucumber kimchi (sigeumchi-namul), stir-fried glass noodles (japchae), korean spinach, pickled onions, bean sprouts (kongnamul), pancake (yachaejeon), and radish kimchi (kkakdugi) . And honestly, this spot has one of the better quality banchan sides. The japchae had so much flavor, and the potato salad was also good. I appreciated that they offered the pickled onions, which goes really well with the marinated pork. My friend was also excited that they had korean spinach, which most places don't have at all. We also ordered the red pepper paste soup. It was so good! Rick and full of flavor. There's enough seating for 2-6 people to each table. It's not too big of a spot, so if you're trying to get away from the long lined spots - this is the spot to be. Service is quick and friendly. There is free parking in the lot if you're lucky. If not, you can find free street parking.“

“I want to start out saying I never take the time to write reviews, but I want this place to thrive and stay around forever. Phenomenal fusion food, awesome and unexpected presentation (the ramen is served under a smoky bubble!!), friendly and helpful staff. Top stuff. Can't recommend enough. Will be going back.Vegetarian options: vegetarian ramen broths!! In our world of seemingly only meat-flavored ramens, Redwhite Boneless Ramen really stands out with it's delicious vegetarian-only dishes packed with delicious fusion flavors.“

“After seeing some vids about how great the mul naeng myun is here, I had to come try with my family. My sister and I got the mul naeng myun and my grandma got the sagol dduk mandu guk (ox bone soup with rice cake and dumplings). The broth of the naeng myun was clear and crisp, but a little bland, I had to put in a lot of the mustard paste and vinegar to increase the flavor. Overall, I liked the thinness and texture of the noodles, but the flavor of the soup was nothing too out of the ordinary. The banchan though... deserves a standing ovation. The side dishes were fresh, well seasoned, and Korean grandma approved. I think I preferred my grandma's rice cake soup to my naeng myun, but I would be willing to come back and try their other dishes. We got a pajeon (chive pancake) on the side as well, which was crispy and came with a lovely soy sauce on the side. The waitresses were also very attentive and kind. The restaurant was nearly empty when we walked in for a late lunch on a weekday. Overall a great experience :)“

“Loved this place! Super fresh ingredients and very friendly staff. Ordered the Nam Tok Salad, the Chicken Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) and the Isaan Larb Kua. Everything was really tasty and the server was great about explaining the spice levels. The Nam Tok and the Isaan Larb Kua were especially delicious because of the use of lime juice -- that tangyness paired with the spiciness and the savoriness in both dishes was a winning combo. In terms of spice level, I'd say that I usually like spicy food and handle it well, and the Medium was just right. There are additional chili sauces available if you want to dial it up a little bit. Very generous portions and I was honestly quite stuffed. The price is also ridiculously low and I have to say this is one of the most amazing value Thai places I've ever been too -- the pad kee mow was $12.99 for the chicken version!! They were making pickled chilis on one of the side tables, which is one sign you know this place is legit -- when they make their sauces and condiments from scratch, by hand. Really looking forward to my next visit here.“

“The only authentic Mongolian food you can get in LA. Dumpling (fried and steamed) are my favorite!!! Also you can try an actual Mongolian bbq here, not the mall bs haha try it for yourself and also support small business because why not I order from them at least once a month and it's been very consistent“

“The table was dirty when we first got the seats… and I expected a good quality of the meat but it wasn’t..and my dishes came out really late, i can tell they unfroze the meat in the oven.. and the ban can was so salty…i know it’s cheaper compared to other Korean restaurants, but I would rather pay more and get better “

“Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't too packed. We got seated and were served water, kimchi and some pickled cabbage dish. I wanted to order something with a little kick to it, so I tried the Knife cut noodle in spicy chicken broth. I thought it was good, however it wasn't really spicy. Felt like it lacked just a bit of flavor in it. The overall place was clean and brightly lit up. Customer service was great. Would probably come back to give something else a try on the menu.“

“Been going here since before the Pandemic and it's always great! However, today they asked us to see our Vax Cards and Id's, that was a little uncomfortable. If I was the owner, I'd loosen up on that and not do what you're told. It's your business and it's on its last legs. It was much better when YOU called the shots and not the Government. Otherwise foods usually good and authentic.“

“This is still my favorite place for cold noodle. I have been at this restaurant for at least 20 years now. It still tastes the same. I always order cold noodle and bulgogi. Compared to 20 years ago, they did expanded the place to fit more people. They still serve the same ban chan side dishes. Although they increased the prices, I still will come back. I love this place. Parking is hard to find when it gets crowded. So be aware.“

“Came here during a weekday around lunch time. Service was quick and kind. I had the khao soi and it hit the spot. Broth was flavorful and it had the right amount of noodles and meat. Lots of steady foot traffic from people that seemed to me on their lunch breaks so you know it's a good spot. Check it out for some good Thai food!“

“The mango sticky rice here is so good! The mangos were really fresh and there were plenty of slices that came with the dish. The crispy bits on top are also an unexpected yet delicious addition and pair well with the sticky rice and sauce. “#Best bossam and delicious Korean food in LAAmong Korean foods in LA, one of the foods that is hard to find is pig's feet and bossam. Gobau House here is the place that conquered LA Korean food with just bossam. It is a long-running restaurant that has been around for over 30 years where you can enjoy not only bossam but also a variety of delicious menu items such as seafood and green onion pancakes, kimchi pancakes, tray buckwheat noodles, cheonggukjang, and soybean paste stew.I've been a regular here since I first settled in LA in 2007, and it still has a great reputation.#atmosphereAlthough it has a slightly dark atmosphere, it is always full of customers and there are many servers to handle the large number of customers, making it a lively and noisy place. Looking at the customers, many of them come for family meals and many come for gatherings. This is a place where you can feel the quality of the food and its abundance.#side dishThe side dishes here are really delicious. When you're in the United States, the importance of side dishes and how much you crave them are amplified... but when you come here, that thirst is quenched. The slightly spicy soybean paste was especially delicious, and both the kimchi and seasoned vegetables were satisfactory.#BossamFirst of all, the visuals of bossam are rich.Assorted Bossam comes with boiled pork, jokpyeonchae, and steamed skate, but the portion is so huge that I have never been able to order one yet.Instead, in the case of regular bossam, pickled cabbage, pickled cabbage, pickled pickled radish, salted shrimp, seasoned dried radish, and pickled jalapenos are provided along with the bossam. The pride of this restaurant is pork that is gently boiled without any odor. The lightness of pork was well preserved without the use of herbal medicine. Here, my favorite conditioner is <Jeot Shrimp>. Instead of salted shrimp with a lot of water, it is a good idea to remove the water from the shrimp and add seasoning to the shrimp, which captures both the flavor and texture of the shrimp. Pickled jalapenos are a godsend, perhaps a last resort solution that takes advantage of American characteristics. Jalapenos provide a sweet and spicy flavor that goes well with bossam.#cheonggukjangCheonggukjang is especially difficult to cook at home in the U.S., but I always order Cheonggukjang when I come here. It used to be really delicious, but after returning from living in Korea, the soybean paste-like and sweet taste felt a little awkward. But it still tastes good. You can enjoy Cheonggukjang in a variety of options as they provide a spoonful of vegetables to mix with the rice.#ribPlease grill Korean-style ribs, not LA ribs. The seasoning is just right, the grilling is good, and the ribs are above average.Of course, it is much more delicious than BXX soft tofu.#Kimchi pancakeIt's not sophisticated, but it tastes like it was baked at home. It's a shame that it's a little oily, but the taste of jangtteok with red pepper paste and the freshness of kimchi are in perfect harmony.Overall, it is the best Korean restaurant that is not inferior to Korean food, but it feels even more upgraded with American characteristics. When you miss Korean food, you won’t regret going to Gobau House!!Super highly recommended!“

“This is an absolutely no frills restaurant with about 5 items on the menu, but they do them well. The monta (aka manti, mante) is the star of the show. Unlike other places that take a shortcut by using wonton skins, this place makes the dough from scratch and it really makes a difference. In addition to the baked monta, they also do a soup version in either tomato or yogurt. Their sou boereg ( Armenian cheese lasagna) is good also. All monta is cooked to order, so it does take a few minutes for your order to be ready, but it's totally worth the wait. Have an appetizer while waiting. You can also visit their sister restaurant in Pasadena, though it's tiny with only two tables on the sidewalk.P.S. I read some reviews saying that monta is supposed to be made with phyllo dough. Uh, no. I helped my mom and grandma make monta from scratch and they use the same dough you'll find here. And I was born in Lebanon, my grandmother was a Genocide survivor. So they know how to make it.“

“It was my first time dining at Thai Central. It is a gem in East Hollywood for a Thai food. The food is very tasty. We ordered a few things, Kao Clook Ka phi, Boat noodle, and Papaya salad - the was delicious. And awesome service - from getting our order in and getting the food from the kitchen to our table. I like the cleanliness of the restaurant. We dropped the lid of something on the floor , and the server took the lid from us, he cleaned it and brought it back - impressive. Very nice and friendly servers, great food!“

“Heard so much hype about Soban so I wanted to try it out. The inside was a lot smaller than expected so try to come when it's not busy or make a reservation before. The dishes were really flavorful and I totally understand why there's so much talk about Soban. I demolished the braised black code which was my favorite, and I'm not usually a big fan of fish. The flavor of the fish was to die for and even the veggies were cooked perfectly. The braised pork ribs were also good and the stew was probably my least favorite. The price is pretty hefty and I can't say it's worth the crazy price tag, all three dishes came out to be around $160 and the four of us shared the three dishes. I think less is more here because the banchan is also really good and fills you up. Service was a bit slow but maybe it's because I went during a slow time and there was only two staff in the front. Try it out if you love traditional Korean dishes and authentic flavors!“

“This has been my go-to place for Korean comfort foods for almost a decade! I bring my closest friends and family here to enjoy the fresh abalone congee and various Korean soups. They hit especially hard on colder nights. The restaurant, which has held its ground since 1974, is rather unassuming, simple, with all focus put into the food. Some of the other restaurants might seem more popular and crowded, but this is the true gem of Koreatown. Aunty Kim is such a sweetheart! She puts her heart and soul into every aspect of your experience. She treats everyone just like family and creates a friendly ambiance for everyone to enjoy. The menu might seem like it has only a few options, but trust me when I say, these are POWERHOUSE dishes that are absolute perfection. The parking situation can be rather intense, so it's best to use the Vallet service or pray for street parking.“

“How can you not love a restaurant that both of your children compare other Ramen restaurants too? And I have tasted warm and think it is excellent and delicious and consistently. I've been there now at least a half a dozen times. Parking in the rear or limited street parking. No reservations but it is easy seating. I've never had to wait but then again I go a little bit later around 730 to 8:30 PM. The Ramen is excellent, the tonkatsu as well as the spicy version. Tasty Gyoza. The future taste fresh and the broth is delicious. This is a go to restaurant prior to the Monday night jazz at the Riviera 31 Sofitel hotel just a from this restaurant perfect! “This was an excellent meal. Merci the hostess who served me and took my order was very nice and attentive. The food itself, excellent. The salad that I got was sooo good. The dressing is some kind of sesame dressing and it was fabulous. Usually restaurants treat their salads as an afterthought and give you something basic with ranch, but not Kai ramen. The salad, wow.The ramen was also excellent. The broth was great and full of flavor and was nice and warm (temperature and heat wise, I got medium). The dish had a lot of different ingredients which kept it exciting throughout.Excellent experience, will be back again!(Parking lot fills up quick and is small, plan accordingly)“

“You know this is a good spot since the korean ahjummas and ahjussis flock to it. It was truly an experience eating here. The mandoo is perfect. I have no complaints. It was garlicky, gingery, incredibly flavorful, with a thin but chewy skin. The kimchi is the kind of bright red that you know just by looking at it, it will def not disappoint. And this is not even the best part. The best dish of all was the chicken kalguksoo. Workers were sweet, attentive, and they even have a fly door entrance which every restaurant should have. - yuk gae jang was good imo. Although too much of it can get old because the broth was sweet.
