“Food was great but our server did not seem to care that we were there. The only time she came to our table was when we initially sat down and when we had to ask for our check. Unfortunate because I usually love Wabi and had friends in town. Their only comment that it was one of the worst serving experiences to date.“

Unfortunately Jonny Won (?) left couple of years ago but the current Chef is more than capable of upholding this restaurant's glowing reputation for exceptionally fresh ingredients and superb cooking skills. My only advice is to stick to fish and leave the meat dishes as, although nice, are not quite "wow" as they used to be.“

“Come here for happy hour! Mad we missed it by a half hour. Happy hour 5-6 and 8-9. Most of the rolls and apps and drinks are on the happy hour menu at a very discounted price. Rolls on happy hour are like 13 instead of 18 or 19.

The edamame app was huge, plenty to share. We were 3 and couldn’t finish it. And it was super fresh with a good amount of salt on it which I like. The rolls were fresh and delicious. I liked the shrimp tempura and ultimate salmon roll. The garlic ninja roll was good too. Those were my favorites. The salmon crunch roll was too spicy for me. The plum wine was very sweet. The matcha beer just tasted like beer but was colored green. I guess there was matcha in there too but I didn’t taste it.

It was quiet on a Monday night. I made a reservation but didn’t need to. Very casual place and wait service was very friendly. Lots of robots also roaming the street and picking up orders :)“

The staff was kind, checked on us just the right amount, and had baskets that sat beneath the table so purses didn't sit on the floor. The cut salmon sushi roll was fresh. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had in my life. The fries weren't crisp but the flavor made up for it. If I was from here, I would never shut up about this place. But since I'm not, a passionate Google review will have to do.“

I know fresh and quality sashimi/sushi and this probably the freshest I've seen in a long while. The owners are super sweet, top notch service and the restaurant interior is so clean and comfortable. Again the quality of the fish was above the norm.“

“I used to love going to Planta when I lived in Canada, so I was genuinely happy to discover they have locations in California too. It’s fast, creative, and satisfying — definitely not your average vegan fare. The bar is impressively stocked, offering great cocktail options that complement the food well. However, the service left a bit to be desired. We had to wait quite a while for our drinks, and our server barely checked in throughout the meal, which took away from the overall experience. Still, if you're looking for high-quality vegan food with bold flavors and great variety, Planta is absolutely worth visiting. Just cross your fingers for better service. Furthermore, Shin does his best to impress every customer, while describing the dish and even showing pictures of the fish prior to preparing. The omakase fee is extremely competitive and the saki list is top notch. All items are seasonal and well chosen by the chef. You will probably taste some seafood that you have never tasted before. Please try Sushi Miyagi, and I guarantee that you will be booking another reservation right after you leave.“

“Great sushi place with high quality fish and great service. I would highly recommend the crispy rice with tuna and the Tuna Lemon roll. Fish was fresh and melted in mouth. The hand rolls and nigiri were also great, but I mainly struggled to enjoy certain cut rolls like the Moon Roll and Spicy Salmon roll. While they were still delicious, there was a little too much mayonnaise which made it hard to enjoy. However, other cut rolls, which are not as mayo dense, such as the Tuna Lemon roll, were incredible and flavorful. Overall, I would come back to try the sashimi and other hand rolls. But for the time being, other sushi places with similar price ranges provide equally as favorable rolls with less mayonnaise“

A steak I say! Great service, clean and fun/funky environment, and fresh sushi at the right price! If you’re shopping on Melrose, give em a try!“

I was so pleased to see that the special wood countertop has not been changed. The food is very special but the alcohol pairing is even more special. So if you are planning to come here, make sure you get the alcohol pairing. It elevates the food to a whole different level. The chef and the staff are extremely gracious and that makes for a phenomenal experience. The Sake is some of the best I have ever had. We started the food with a beautiful barbecued smoky tilefish in a homemade tortilla. It was absolutely delicious and it set the tone for the entire meal. Some of the highlights were the Astrea Caviar Toro, the abalone soup which came after the Awabi-abalone, the kegani-hairy crab, uni-sea urchin, and the A5 Wagyu beef was the most phenomenal beef I have ever had. I was concerned that the food would not be enough to make us full but to my surprise, by the end of the meal we were pretty full. My husband does not enjoy sake so they recommended different wines that he really enjoyed. This was a very expensive dinner, but this is a once in a lifetime experience. I would only ask that chef Yamamoto adds to the courses to justify the price. I highly recommend this restaurant for a very special evening.“
