“First: Restaurant has several options for seating - booths outside that are charming, a covered inside garden area with booths and tables which is where we always sit, or inside at the sushi bar, the regular bar, or the inside tables. Second: Staff are delightful - very professional, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Third: Food is delicious. We always order the crispy rice with spicy tuna, the yellowtail special and the Tiger King sushi roll. Nobody does these dishes better! Bar creates great drinks. Parking: You can usually find street parking on Rose or a side street if you don't mind walking a block or two.“

“From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, stylish, and inviting—perfect for a night out. We kicked things off with drinks, and I had a Hugo Spritz—light, refreshing, and the perfect way to ease into the evening.

We went with the DineLA menu, which was a great way to sample a variety of their dishes. For starters, we ordered the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and Vegetable Tempura—featuring zucchini and asparagus. Both were beautifully presented and full of flavor, especially that crispy rice, which had just the right balance of spice and texture.

For the mains, we chose two standout rolls:
🍣 The Kinney Roll, which combined salmon, yellowtail, spicy tuna, serrano, truffle ponzu, avocado, and sesame oil—an absolute explosion of flavor in every bite.
🌱 And the Rio Roll, a vegetarian twist on sushi, which was just as thoughtful and delicious.

One highlight? The fresh wasabi—seriously next level. It had a brightness and heat that really woke up the palate.

Now, for dessert, we tried the Tres Leches and a Matcha Tiramisu. Unfortunately, this is where the meal fell a little flat. The desserts didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience—we found them underwhelming and lacking that wow factor.

Service-wise, the staff was incredibly attentive, and everything came out quickly and smoothly. Big kudos to our waiter who made us feel well taken care of.

🎯 Final verdict: Overall, Owa delivered on flavor, ambiance, and service. A few missteps with dessert, but I’d still give it a solid 7 out of 10. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and craving Japanese with a creative, modern twist.“

“The best neighborhood sushi restaurant 🍣

I absolutely love Hama, and it’s made my top 5 list of recommendations for a few reasons.

A) The rolls are unique, and always fresh. You’re not going to have a bad bite here.
B) lots of ambiance and dining options. Dining solo, come. Date night, come. Large group, come. Hama has space and they use all of it very well. Just don’t be surprised if on a nice day you’re packed table to table on the side walk. Share a bottle of sake and have a few beers, this is the kind of place you can settle in and enjoy your time.
C) Esther, the owner, is the star. Personally greeting each guest, while keeping a watchful eye on the whole ship. She’s the heart beat. She is the conductor of good times, delicious Japanese bites, and a sanctuary so sacred you might even catch the rich and famous enjoying their time.

Highly recommend to anyone, for any occasion. This is a great LA restaurant!

They could have said, "welcome, someone will be with you shortly".My friend had to walk up and ask if we find a spot or wait for someone. They said we need to wait for a hostess (not friendly at all). The hostess was nice and so was our waiter, THANKFULLY. The hand rolls and nigiri were also great, but I mainly struggled to enjoy certain cut rolls like the Moon Roll and Spicy Salmon roll. While they were still delicious, there was a little too much mayonnaise which made it hard to enjoy. However, other cut rolls, which are not as mayo dense, such as the Tuna Lemon roll, were incredible and flavorful. Overall, I would come back to try the sashimi and other hand rolls. But for the time being, other sushi places with similar price ranges provide equally as favorable rolls with less mayonnaise“

Sushi is a casual restaurant with attentive and friendly servers and sushi chefs. The fish quality is exceptional and fresh. Their delicious miso soup is a MUST TRY! The lunch menu has a wide variety ranging from sushi to bento boxes. Hands down Brothers Sushi is worth the splurge.
