“I do not take the word “perfection” lightly. Yet, I mean it when I say that Shang Noodle is the embodiment of perfection in Chicago. Not just Chicago, this may very well be one of the finest meals I have ever eaten in the entire world. The staff were warm and inviting, service was incredible.

I am from out of town. I will miss Shang Noodle the second I step out the door to leave. I would make plans in the future to Chicago just to stop by for a dish at Shang Noodle.

“Had a great meal at Lao Peng You in Chicago! Two of us shared the Dan Dan noodles and the pork & chive dumplings, and it was the perfect amount of food for both of us. The Dan Dan noodles were packed with flavor, had a nice kick of spice, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The pork & chive dumplings were delicious.

The food was authentic and flavorful. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.“

Quesadilla was hot fresh and tasted great good cheese to chicken ratio. Salsa was watery so I feel like it didn't pair well with the quesadilla, more like a hot sauce.“

“I have loved Shanghai Terrace for more than 20 years. For the first time I was disappointed by the food. I suspect they have a new Chef who is using new recipes instead of the tried and true. For example, the Golden Shrimps were not golden. The Hot and Sour soup was not up to par. The best part of dinner was dessert! As always, service and the setting were as good as ever.“

Also came with vegetable egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, sushi, dumplings. “Hi Hing Wang team,

I know this place since 2005, right after they moved from “under the Red Line train” to their actual address. Since then, I remember their chicken noodle soup was great. I say “was” because it’s not on the menu anymore. Their fried rice is amazing — I love it.

But today’s review is really because of the new lady there. She was cleaning every table, and it seemed like she was making sure everything was clean, or at least disinfected. When I arrived to pick up my order, I left my change as a tip. She called out to the kitchen staff and said, “Tips!” and everyone replied, “THANK YOU!”

I got excited, lol, and left even more tips. :)

Then, when she handed me my order, she said, “Thank you, have a nice day, and come visit again.” It blew my mind. I have never heard that from anyone at that place, haha. I got outside and checked again if I was at the same place.

Anyway, thank you for keeping the same taste all these years, and please keep that young lady there. She is perfect as a host.

The Kung Pao Chicken is one of my favorites along with their Pork Fried Rice, but I have enjoyed many of their dishes - BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Egg Rolls, Pot Stickers, Beef Chop Suey on crispy chow mein noodles - all delicious. The servings are large - plenty to share or take home for tomorrow's lunch. All the staff are friendly and efficient, and you can eat in, pickup or order delivery. At first the staff told us that we would have to wait 30 minutes, but instead they decided to push a few tables together—so we could sit. It was very kind and thoughtful of them!! My least favorite dish was the chili pepper chicken, it tasted acidic and me and my friends ate the rice rather the chicken. Its personal preference though, so you might like it!
