We had a group of seven and a lot of us split our entrees so we could try everything. There was literally nothing we didn’t love. We live three hours away and I would drive here just to eat dinner. Kudos to you guys and thank you to eve for the fantastic service! If you have an opportunity to sit outside on the outdoor enclosure do so! It’s a tropical paradise in Kentucky!”

MeeshMeesh Mediterranean 636 E Market St, Louisville Vegetarian • $$$

“Let’s start with atmosphere. It was well kept with nice decor but I wouldn’t consider it fancy. We ordered the lebnah, liver mousse, and tuna tar tar. The mousse was the clear favorite out of the 3 amongst us. The tar tar was a bit over seasoned with chili or cumin. For the main, we got chicken shawarma and lamb meguez. They were quality and well cooked, but lacking that pop for the price. Overall, I would recommend this place to friends and family for its variety and ethnic background. However, it is a bit pricey.”

Perso

Perso 741 E Oak St, Louisville Italian • $$

“It's rare that we have a date night on a weekday with two young children, but tonight was the exception. When I realized our anniversary was falling on a Wednesday, Perso was the first place that came to mind. Perso's Prix Fixe Menú is available every Sunday through Wednesday and offers a three course meal for $29. It's no secret that I'm a fine dining enthusiast; but who doesn't love a bargain? If you're looking for a nice night out without breaking the bank, this is your spot. Perso sits at the corner of Oak and Shelby in the same location as the former Square Cut Pizza. The giant windows in the front provide an abundance of natural light. The interior has a modern industrial vibe with painted exposed brick, plants, and Edison bulbs hanging on pendants. One wall with wooden slats gives a Scandinavian feel to the main dining area. It's a small-ish intimate space with a beautiful patio. For my first course, I chose Crostino Di Tonno- olive oil poached tuna, stracciatella, pickled celery, and Calabrian chili. I followed my first course with olive oil poached swordfish, corn chowder, and golden zucchini scapece. For dessert, I had the chef's choice: apple strudel with whipped cream cheese. My husband chose heirloom tomato with roasted eggplant, bagna couda, and fine herbs. For his main course, he had pork tenderloin with edamame, beef dashi, and fine herbs. We both opted for the chef's choice for dessert. I tasted each of his courses and they were every bit as delicious as my own. The edamame provided the perfect texture and his tenderloin dashi tasted gravy-esque without being overly heavy. Mostly notable, besides the insane deal for such decadence, was the fresh flavor combinations throughout. Our table had fresh rosemary as a centerpiece. The corn chowder was right up my alley. I could've licked my bowl if I wasn't trying to pretend to have a bit of class. The swordfish was tender, juicy, and not overly fishy. The tuna flatbread was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The mint on top of my whipped cream cheese truly set it apart. My lavender Manhattan was earthy and smoky, not just in flavor. It was literally smoking. My husband had an old-fashioned. Neither of us were disappointed. Our server, Amanda, was phenomenal. She offered recommendations. She visited our table to ensure we were satisfied the perfect number of times. Her warm demeanor was professional while also being personable. She was everything we hope for in a server. Perso's Sunday through Wednesday Prix Fixe Menú is hands-down one of the best opportunities for an affordable night out. That being said, once you get a taste of what they have to offer, you'll be sold on splurging any day of the week.”

Clean Eatz 3565 Springhurst Blvd, Louisville Health Food • $

“It's almost the end of 2024 and I've been having Clean Eatz this entire year. I'd say 90% of everything I've eaten this year has been CE. To say it's been a huge game changer for me is an understatement. I had a stubborn 10lb that wouldn't go away from the Covid years. That was gone in the first couple months. I was also able to set PRs in all distances-5k, 10k, 15k, half marathon and marathon. Having healthy food from Ce definitely played a huge part in that. Prior to this year I'd never ran more than 1200 miles in a year and I'm coming up on 1800 for the year! Also I haven't been sick this entire year where I'm normally sick at least one or two times. It all starts with your diet and I'm so incredibly blessed that I discovered CE.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was absolutely fantastic. What a great way to update this classic drink. I ordered the striped bass while my friend ordered the chicken. We couldn’t resist ordering the gnocchi to split between us, knowing we would have some leftovers. Let me tell you, every thing was simply delicious and well thought out with all the different taste elements in perfect harmony. Trust me, the leftovers that we had did not go to waste. The gnocchi is one of the best I’ve ever tried, so light and fluffy with a delicious sauce. Everything was seasoned to perfection and cooked exactly how it should be. We take all reviews seriously, and yours is no exception. We have reviewed your comments with our team to ensure accuracy and to identify areas for improvement. According to our records, we seated you at 6:45 p.m., and the check was closed out at 8:47 p.m., which aligns with the standard two-hour window we strive to provide all guests to enjoy their dining experience, even during busy evening hours. When you called for your reservation, our staff informed you that we were fully booked inside and offered seating at the bar, which you declined. You opted for outdoor seating instead. While we do our best to make our outdoor space as comfortable as possible within the confines of Goss Ave, factors like foot traffic and noise are unfortunately beyond our control. “Dear Jeff's Donuts. I regret to inform you, I can only give you five stars, just know you deserve every single star in the sky. I hope this letter finds you well. The day is Friday. January the 10th, year 2025. Today, Brooklyn and I decided to get donuts for us and the kids, as she wanted to start preparing the chili early. Dunkin’ Donuts was closed, and the order promptly canceled. We debated on making homemade donuts for a short time, before deciding to venture out and try something different. There you were. Shining like a lighthouse in a dark, foggy sea of plain looking donuts. It’s beacon of light piercing through the veil of confusion and blandness. The chaos of ordinary cookie cutter style donuts, never stood no chance, really. Upon inspecting the diverse list of offerings, something caught my eye. The Cherry Dream Long John. I must admit, I was hesitant at first. Cherry is something many do wrong. Alas, I could not resist my own curiosity. The craving for proper cherry took over and consumed my ability to control my impulse. I added everyone’s order, and sent forth the courier of deliciousness promptly to your location. I had to have it, and I had to have it now. A short time later, the courier arrived, carry what was quite possibly the biggest donut box I’d ever seen. It was then, at that very moment, I knew deep inside of me that these truly were going to be no ordinary donuts. I quickly flayed the tree pulp and adhesive bondage from the chest of donuts, with the utmost anticipation. Not knowing truly what to expect, but having the highest of hopes. I opened it with the utmost care. At first glimpse, I was overwhelmed. I immediately closed the box in disbelief and looked at Brooklyn. She understood from my expression, that this indeed, was no ordinary box of donuts from no ordinary donut shop. It took a second, but after the shock and excitement faded, I re-opened the chest of delight, and we handed them out. The kids got chocolate frosted sprinkle donuts, which were absolute behemoths. You could tell, they were iced in all of their glory and size, with care and intent. Brooklyn withdrew her blueberry donut. She was pleased. Then it was left to me. I picked up my Cherry Dream donut, and stared at it for a minute. Marveled by its creamy, fresh and delicious appeal. Almost entranced by the faint smell of cherry and freshly cooked dough. I tried my first bite, and immediately knew not many would follow, as I couldn’t contain myself. It was perfect. From the creamy, fresh soft icing, that was a perfectly balanced flavor profile of cherry. Not the overwhelming fake cherry that becomes too much to bear after the first few bites. The sweet, delicate taste of cherry done right. Just enough to leave you craving more. It was that profile, mixed with a soft, fresh, airy dough that had such perfectly placed and crafted air pockets inside that it couldn’t possibly have any other explanation than god himself, wanted them to be there. Alas, I had acquired the perfect cherry donut. Jeff, from my heart to yours. To you, and your crew of artesian donut crafters as well, I’d like to say thank you. Thank you for this experience that has filled me with so much joy. Thank you for these children, being able to experience what a TRUE donut, really is, in all of its glory. I could not recommend Jeff’s donuts enough. I must abruptly end this, and I am sorry. There is now a strawberry donut calling my name. I cannot refuse its calling. I cannot ignore its voice, like a siren in the sea. I cannot ignore its succulent temptation. I must indulge.”

We have not received previous complaints about joggers and certainly not 30 joggers, nor have we had any complaints about the outdoor lighting, which was carefully considered when designing the space. We sincerely apologize for missing the late complimentary champagne toast. It’s unacceptable that it arrived so late in your meal, and we are addressing this internally to ensure it does not happen again. Your comments regarding the food have also been shared with our kitchen team for review and improvement. We began with an appetizer featuring a beautiful selection of raw and cooked oysters, each one more delightful than the last. The raw oysters were fresh, briny, and perfectly chilled, with a subtle sweetness that made them irresistible. The cooked oysters were equally impressive, rich with flavor and topped with a delicate balance of seasonings that elevated the natural taste of the seafood. Opting for the chef’s choice for the entire meal was an inspired decision. Each course was thoughtfully curated, highlighting seasonal ingredients and creative pairings. The dishes were a perfect balance of flavors, textures, and presentations, keeping our palates intrigued and satisfied throughout the meal. The Wine Studio 621 W Magnolia Ave, Louisville Southern • $$$$

“Dined here in early July. The food is to die for (especially a curry-style dish on the menu when we visited), the service is excellent (and not too hurried), and the ambiance is charming. The bread is also out of this world. The wine pairings also nicely complement the food, and the desserts are definitely worth having (especially the drunken banana cake). It is one of the nicest special occasion restaurants in Louisville. One caveat of interest to certain diners is the restaurants lax policy on pets. When we dined there, another table came in with a small dog. It wasn't a service or support dog because the diners kept passing it around the table, and even that table's server petted it. The dog's presence didn't bother us (it was well-behaved and quiet), but I could see some diners not enjoying dinner with a dog at the next table.”

Matt Winn's Steakhouse 750 Central Ave W19 Lot, Louisville Steak House • $$$$

“On top of an exhaustive wine selection, Matt Winn’s Steakhouse boasts one of the largest bourbon collections in Bourbon Country, paired with a fine dining experience that overlooks the historic equine racetrack, Churchill Downs. Upon arrival, you are ushered via golf cart from the parking lot to the restaurant, located on the 6th floor. Immediately entering, you are overwhelmed with a southern hospitality and a selection of beverages par, none. The interior is modeled in typical Col. Matt Winn’s style of the 1920’s; you will find bourbon barrels, stained glass, and low hanging crystal chandeliers adorning the space where you can have private conversations without feeling like you’re at someone else’s table. The menu is simple, yet leaves nothing to want. Many accompaniments are available for a variety of items and the sides are portioned to share with the table. Service includes a delicious focaccia, and the staff operates in a way that does not interrupt, however you will never need for anything. Consider Matt Winn’s for your occasion dining, business meals, or treating your date to a fine meal that will not soon be forgotten!”

“Cafe Shiraz is an absolute gem! My sister and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. First tempted by the beautiful pastries in the case, we ordered a baklava and an almond croissant. Then we turned to the menu and got the Breakfast Platter For Two. We took our seats in the cozy, bright cafe and ate our desserts first - unbelievably delicious! The baklava was flaky and delectable; the almond croissant was served warm which brought out the flavors of the buttery layers and sweet almond. Then came the breakfast platter! Life changing!!! This was essentially a charcuterie board of breakfast goodness, including fried eggs, ham, a bagel, feta cheese, butter, cream cheese, walnuts, honey, sliced veggies, strawberries, and lavash. We noshed on this wonderful concoction combining different flavors with each bite. Everything was fresh and delicious and the lavash was crispy and seasoned to perfection. In addition to the amazing food, the atmosphere is cozy and bright and the proprietor was extremely friendly. Located on the corner of Brownsboro Rd and William St, close to Mellwood, Cafe Shiraz is the perfect spot for a meal or snack before or after shopping at Mellwood Arts Center or Work the Metal, or walking around Nulu! P.F. Chang's 9120 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville Chinese • $$

“We dined at a P.F. Chang's in Kentucky and had a mostly good experience! The Mongolian beef and Teriyaki chicken were incredibly flavorful and cooked to really good. However, the rice was surprisingly bland and lacked seasoning.

Our server was friendly, but unfortunately, he got our orders mixed up. This led to us getting two of the same dish, we were so hungry we ate them because we could not be bothered to wait anymore. He apologized, though.

On the bright side, the price was very reasonable for the generous portions we received. Overall, the food quality and value made up for the minor service mishap.

I'd suggest that the server pay closer attention to order details and revamp the brown and white rice recipe. Otherwise, P.F. Chang's remains a solid choice for those craving tasty Asian-inspired cuisine.”

“Went to this restaurant for the first time with family and friends. It was a nice experience and we had a good time there. The restaurant is easy to locate.

Ambiance: It was great. The restaurant has two floors and having outdoor sitting options. The bar is captivating. The ceiling is very charming with nice rose decor. They have enough sitting options and, I guess, can accommodate more than 100-150 people easily.

Staff: Our waiter, Logan, was courteous and friendly. He was quick in taking our orders and bringing it. There were some modifications needed, and he entertained our request very well.

Food: We ordered various food items chicken fajitas, shrimp tempura, chicken wings, chicken salad, twilight fettuccine pasta, burrito etc.
The shrimp tempura and chicken fajitas were the show stealer with great taste. We ordered tempura shrimp second time.It was damn tasty with the sauce that comes with the order. I especially liked the way they presented chicken fajitas in sizzler plate under dome food cover.
Chicken wings was ok ok. There are limited vegetarian options. Overall the food is good taste and quantity.

We ordered some cocktails and cold drinks. Cocktails were kind of ok.

The menu items are well priced with a good quantity of food.

I would love to go back to this restaurant again. You should definitely try this restaurant.”

“Restaurant Review: Exceptional Service from Gabriel at LongHorn Steakhouse

I recently had the pleasure of dining at LongHorn Steakhouse, and I have to give a special shoutout to one of the best hosts I’ve ever encountered—Gabriel Ordonez Chingo Chin. At just 16 years old, Gabriel demonstrates professionalism, kindness, and efficiency beyond his years. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with a warm smile and made sure we were seated quickly and comfortably.

Gabriel’s attention to detail and customer service skills are truly impressive. He keeps the front of the restaurant running smoothly, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and taken care of. It’s clear that he takes his job seriously and puts in the effort to make every guest’s experience a great one.

I also have to mention that Gabriel has a strong and supportive girlfriend, Jessleen, who keeps him in check—but even with that dynamic, he remains focused and dedicated to his work. His ability to stay composed and efficient in a busy environment is commendable, and LongHorn Steakhouse is lucky to have him on their team.

If you’re dining at LongHorn, rest assured that Gabriel will make sure your experience starts off on the right foot. Keep up the great work, Gabriel!”

“My husband and I visited for Valentine's day. I generally enjoyed the experience. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was rather pleasant. Of course the meat just kept coming, although I'm not big on eating that much beef. For my expectations and taste the steaks should have had more tenderness. It seemed to have been overcooked. The sides and salad bar were delicious. The only other downside is the 20% gratuity that was automatically charged when it was stated on the menu this was for a party of six or more, it was just two of us. I feel we should have been made aware of such a charge. I didn't notice until I got home. I do plan on returning bc my husband loved it, for my taste I'll stick to the chicken and the salad bar.”
