“It's almost the end of 2024 and I've been having Clean Eatz this entire year. I'd say 90% of everything I've eaten this year has been CE. To say it's been a huge game changer for me is an understatement. I had a stubborn 10lb that wouldn't go away from the Covid years. That was gone in the first couple months. I was also able to set PRs in all distances-5k, 10k, 15k, half marathon and marathon. Having healthy food from Ce definitely played a huge part in that. Prior to this year I'd never ran more than 1200 miles in a year and I'm coming up on 1800 for the year! Also I haven't been sick this entire year where I'm normally sick at least one or two times. Andy and his team have pulled off something I genuinely struggle to put into words. The genius here isn't rare truffles or gold leaf — it's the opposite. Decade takes homey, everyday ingredients, the kind you'd find in any grandmother's pantry, and transforms them into something you simply won't believe. Each plate builds on the last, flavors folding and unfolding in ways I didn't know food could do. Familiar comfort turned kaleidoscopic. Textures that caught me off guard, flavor combinations that made me stop mid-bite and just laugh. If you could have an acid trip on a dinner plate, this is it — and I mean that as the highest compliment possible. This is the most creative menu I have ever encountered, and I do not say that lightly.

But great food is only half the story. The care behind every course, the rhythm of the meal, the sense that this team genuinely loves what they do — it all came through. You feel looked after. You feel like you're sitting at the center of something special that's only just getting started.

And it is just getting started. I'm genuinely excited to watch the Decade restaurant group grow, because there's a vision here that deserves to reach far beyond Louisville. One personal hope: I understand the co-owner has roots in San Francisco. As someone who calls the Bay Area home, I would be first in line if they ever opened a spot out west. Please make that happen.

If I lived in Louisville, I'd be here constantly — no question. Decade isn't just a meal. It's an experience I'll be telling people about for years.

“It's rare that we have a date night on a weekday with two young children, but tonight was the exception. When I realized our anniversary was falling on a Wednesday, Perso was the first place that came to mind. Perso's Prix Fixe Menú is available every Sunday through Wednesday and offers a three course meal for $29. It's no secret that I'm a fine dining enthusiast; but who doesn't love a bargain? If you're looking for a nice night out without breaking the bank, this is your spot. Perso sits at the corner of Oak and Shelby in the same location as the former Square Cut Pizza. The giant windows in the front provide an abundance of natural light. The interior has a modern industrial vibe with painted exposed brick, plants, and Edison bulbs hanging on pendants. One wall with wooden slats gives a Scandinavian feel to the main dining area. It's a small-ish intimate space with a beautiful patio. For my first course, I chose Crostino Di Tonno- olive oil poached tuna, stracciatella, pickled celery, and Calabrian chili. I followed my first course with olive oil poached swordfish, corn chowder, and golden zucchini scapece. For dessert, I had the chef's choice: apple strudel with whipped cream cheese. My husband chose heirloom tomato with roasted eggplant, bagna couda, and fine herbs. For his main course, he had pork tenderloin with edamame, beef dashi, and fine herbs. We both opted for the chef's choice for dessert. I tasted each of his courses and they were every bit as delicious as my own. The edamame provided the perfect texture and his tenderloin dashi tasted gravy-esque without being overly heavy. Mostly notable, besides the insane deal for such decadence, was the fresh flavor combinations throughout. Our table had fresh rosemary as a centerpiece. The corn chowder was right up my alley. I could've licked my bowl if I wasn't trying to pretend to have a bit of class. The swordfish was tender, juicy, and not overly fishy. The tuna flatbread was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The mint on top of my whipped cream cheese truly set it apart. My lavender Manhattan was earthy and smoky, not just in flavor. It was literally smoking. My husband had an old-fashioned. Neither of us were disappointed. Our server, Amanda, was phenomenal. She offered recommendations. She visited our table to ensure we were satisfied the perfect number of times. Her warm demeanor was professional while also being personable. She was everything we hope for in a server. Perso's Sunday through Wednesday Prix Fixe Menú is hands-down one of the best opportunities for an affordable night out. That being said, once you get a taste of what they have to offer, you'll be sold on splurging any day of the week.”

January the 10th, year 2025. Today, Brooklyn and I decided to get donuts for us and the kids, as she wanted to start preparing the chili early. Dunkin’ Donuts was closed, and the order promptly canceled. We debated on making homemade donuts for a short time, before deciding to venture out and try something different. There you were. Shining like a lighthouse in a dark, foggy sea of plain looking donuts. It’s beacon of light piercing through the veil of confusion and blandness. The chaos of ordinary cookie cutter style donuts, never stood no chance, really. Upon inspecting the diverse list of offerings, something caught my eye. The Cherry Dream Long John. I must admit, I was hesitant at first. Cherry is something many do wrong. Alas, I could not resist my own curiosity. The craving for proper cherry took over and consumed my ability to control my impulse. I added everyone’s order, and sent forth the courier of deliciousness promptly to your location. I had to have it, and I had to have it now. A short time later, the courier arrived, carry what was quite possibly the biggest donut box I’d ever seen. It was then, at that very moment, I knew deep inside of me that these truly were going to be no ordinary donuts. I quickly flayed the tree pulp and adhesive bondage from the chest of donuts, with the utmost anticipation. Not knowing truly what to expect, but having the highest of hopes. I opened it with the utmost care. At first glimpse, I was overwhelmed. I immediately closed the box in disbelief and looked at Brooklyn. She understood from my expression, that this indeed, was no ordinary box of donuts from no ordinary donut shop. It took a second, but after the shock and excitement faded, I re-opened the chest of delight, and we handed them out. The kids got chocolate frosted sprinkle donuts, which were absolute behemoths. You could tell, they were iced in all of their glory and size, with care and intent. Brooklyn withdrew her blueberry donut. She was pleased. Then it was left to me. I picked up my Cherry Dream donut, and stared at it for a minute. Marveled by its creamy, fresh and delicious appeal. Almost entranced by the faint smell of cherry and freshly cooked dough. I tried my first bite, and immediately knew not many would follow, as I couldn’t contain myself. It was perfect. From the creamy, fresh soft icing, that was a perfectly balanced flavor profile of cherry. Not the overwhelming fake cherry that becomes too much to bear after the first few bites. The sweet, delicate taste of cherry done right. Just enough to leave you craving more. It was that profile, mixed with a soft, fresh, airy dough that had such perfectly placed and crafted air pockets inside that it couldn’t possibly have any other explanation than god himself, wanted them to be there. Alas, I had acquired the perfect cherry donut. Jeff, from my heart to yours. To you, and your crew of artesian donut crafters as well, I’d like to say thank you. Thank you for this experience that has filled me with so much joy. Thank you for these children, being able to experience what a TRUE donut, really is, in all of its glory. I could not recommend Jeff’s donuts enough. I must abruptly end this, and I am sorry. There is now a strawberry donut calling my name. I cannot refuse its calling. I cannot ignore its voice, like a siren in the sea. I cannot ignore its succulent temptation. I must indulge.”

That said, after spending around $500 on dinner, and having two young children who were the only kids visibly in the restaurant, being denied two balloons — something that likely costs pennies — left a sour impression. My family has spent thousands of dollars at Le Moo over the years, and this was one of our more disappointing experiences. I do want to be very clear that our waitress, Kay, was absolutely fantastic. She provided excellent service and made the dining experience enjoyable up until that final interaction. I’m sharing this not to demand anything, but simply to provide feedback. Small gestures matter, especially when celebrating moments with young kids. Unfortunately, this was a miss for us tonight.”

I also witnessed extreme rudeness to a door dash driver who had clearly been waiting a while and when they asked about the order having been marked 10 minutes ago as ready they were told "We don't care about YOUR numbers, we have to appear to be on time." He looked like management. I turned and left, I will not do business with someone being rude to staff or anyone providing a service to them any more than rudeness to customers.”

I hit the jackpot with expert bartender CC, who took my request for a custom whiskey flight as a challenge and knocked it out of the park with three choices setup in the perfect order. She knew the story behind each one and quickly looked up some additional details on her phone when she wasn't sure. The bar is clean and spacious and full of light. Whiskies are arranged by family for easy identification. She described a "Black Manhattan" that sounded delicious, but I'll have to try that next time. Proof on Main makes the perfect place to treat your taste buds while waiting for a distillery tour. Slainte!”

Nautical theme throughout this shotgun style bar/restaurant. You order at the bar, they give you a number and your drinks and food are brought to your table. Fun drinks and a variety of beers. Wait staff were efficient and helpful when one order was misunderstood. We were hungry and I was happy the special that night we're wings.
