“Visited Matthews, NC few days ago and had lunch here. The food was awesome (I had Jalapeno Poppers and Peter Piper burger), and so was the beer selection (I had a really good blonde ale (cannot recall the name unfortunately)). Service was great, and washrooms were clean. The place has a really cool vibe to it, looks like one would feel at home there while watching sports on one of the many screens.“

“I honestly can't believe that I am a Charlotte native and this is my first time eating at this establishment. My parents and grandparents grew up eating here and they used to pile it up. In reference to the food, I had a cheeseburger with tomato, lettuce, ketchup and slaw with crinkled fries topped with Bar B Que sauce. In my opinion the food was very good. The only thing was that I wish that the hamburger itself had more flavor. Overall, I would definitely get it again. I didn't know that they serve breakfast, that's always a plus. The manger explained the situation and offered alternatives. I chose to come back this week to purchase the cards and the manager remembered me and thanked me for returning as did the bartender. “My all time favorite place! I have enjoyed South 21 for 35 years! I’m a creature of habit so I always order the chicken filet sandwich fried with french fries and of course a separate order of the famous onion rings! These o-rings are the ONLY ones I eat!! The staff is ALWAYS pleasant and courteous too!! My only wish is that it wasn’t 40 minutes away, but I still visit regularly!!“

“We came in with 3 kids today for lunch! The cashier (didn’t catch her name) with the black eyeglasses and her hair in a ponytail was the sweetest most patient and understanding person ever. She was so sweet about the kids dropping food and was just so understanding. Our meal was very good - cooks were very sweet too! “I've ordered from this location several times over the years. A few times I thought the burgers were too salty, or the portion wasn't worth the price, but the friendliness and professionalism of the staff was never an issue. About a week ago I noticed the Korean chicken sandwich wasn't available. I checked online one morning and noticed it was in stock, so I placed an online order. Turns out they were still out of stock when I came to pick up my order (order placed before they opened). That day Eli was working the grill and was very helpful. Keith came over to apologize and fix the situation. I'm no one special, but that's not how Keith made me feel. Today I ordered the sandwich again and McKenzie was working the register. I saw how friendly and professional she was, which I believe to be a direct reflection of Keith's professionalism. I managed bars and restaurants for nearly 30yrs, so it's refreshing to see customer service still being given at the level I was trained to give. Keith is a great example of positive leadership, and I'm sure Eli, McKenzie and the rest of the staff are better because of Keith.“
