“The rolls are fantastic but the wagyu beef steals the show here. Mango roll with tuna is something different and one of my favorites on the menu. The owner is a wonderful man and the place is extremely clean. You can tell how much pride is taken in this place for our community. I highly recommend it.“

“We had a great experience and I think the sushi chef is just a bit awkward but everything tasted amazing. The biggest thing I want to note is that my boyfriend has a shellfish allergy as we noted on the reservation. They were aware of it but were not aware uni counts as shellfish so just made sure to be attentive here if you have the allergy. I would have also preferred if the chef switched gloves for this reason but it was ultimately fine. The unagi and banana was such a memorable dish.
Dietary restrictions: If you have a shellfish allergy, they will happily replace it with another piece of nigiri.“

“Hole in the wall sushi spot. It’s a small and cozy spot in the LES. The size allows you to enjoy the food and chefs on a personal level. I also genuinely have not had fresher fish than here, every piece was mind blowing, the fact that it’s only $68 for 12 pieces! I’m so impressed and I truly can’t recommend it enough. Better than any Michelin I’ve ever had! Also if you love uni like I do, it’s a must.“

“Put this place on the map!!!! A tried a true, best of the best, MUST go to spot when visiting (or living in) NYC. No exaggeration, my boyfriend and I haven’t stopped talking about this place since we visited last year. We’ll finally be back in town next month and are beyond excited to be dining with them again. Did we book a trip just to eat here!? Maybe… probably… because seriously, this place is exceptional. The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. I never write reviews, but Sushi YOLO is a 10/10, so please, do yourself a favor and go see them before they earn that Michelin Star!“

“My daughter chose this for a birthday dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was fantastic. Audrey was our server. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, made great recommendations, she was there when we needed her without being there too often. I would highly recommend Rosella Sushi. Can’t wait to get back to New York City and return for a meal here. It also makes it extra cool when Chef Jeff is wearing a Florida Gator hat!“

“Absolutely loved our experience yesterday. The basic omakase was delicious at $38, no hidden charges, and staff were lovely. Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“I recently had the omakase at Kaki, and it was an amazing experience! For $75, you get 15 delicious bites, each crafted with care and attention to detail. The quality was top-notch, and every piece was flavorful and fresh.
One highlight is that they offer free house sake with your meal, which was a great complement to the sushi. On top of that, the restaurant accepts BYOD, making it even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the food was so good that I’ll definitely be coming back for more!“

“Hidden gem on the LES. 14 course omakase for $89 that rivals competitors at twice the price. Chef Jeff was friendly and engaging, like speaking to an old friend as he gave insight on each ingredient. Ngiri was delicious, top notch fish prepared right in front of you. Favorites include shaved truffle over toro (sublime), buttery hamachi, amazing amberjack, and their signature caviar/uni/toro over milkbread (heaven in one bite). They offered free sake shot and mochi dessert. Beautiful space as well right on Eldridge near Houston. We are definitely coming back.“

“Love this place — good, fairly priced sushi. They’ve also eliminated tipping, which I personally support, as I believe establishments should pay their employees fairly rather than relying on customers to supplement their income. The omakase is served at a fast pace, so it might not be ideal if you’re looking for a slower, more intimate dining experience.“

I love it here i could eat here everyday. Wow. So many unique and powerful flavour combos. Beyond impressed. Thank you💌🎐“

“Looking for the perfect spot to enjoy delicious ramen and good company? Look no further! This place boasts a cozy, inviting atmosphere that's ideal for chatting with friends. The service was outstanding, and the food was good. The ramen selection is extensive, and the appetizers and sushi were equally delicious. I especially loved the volcano roll, even with the surprising kick from the jalapeno. Highly recommend for a relaxed and tasty meal.“

“My FAVORITE omakase in the city.... I have been insanely lucky to go three times, every time it gets better and better. And really this may be my favorite omakase in the world... I have been very lucky to spend some time in Tokyo and eat at some of the best restaurants there... I think it's better! The tea selection is especially impressive - sometimes sushi restaurants phone it in, but they have a truly impressive selection of teas and prepare them properly. The only thing that hurts my heart is some of the other guests can be a bit rude... DO NOT LEAVE SUSHI SITTING THERE.... it is an insult to the chef, the fish, and also ruins the perfect sensation of the cool fish and warm rice finding melding into sublime harmony on the tongue... RESPECT THE FISH AND YOURSELF! If you have a small stomach, skip breakfast and lunch... it is a lot of food but it is worth it to fit it all in there. A once in a lifetime experience!!“

“Fuku Omakase was an absolute blast! Not only was it the best tasting Omakase I ever had, but the cozy, intimate setting makes it so special. The chef adds so much fun with his personal touch and the hosts never let your glass go dry with their BYOB making the whole night even better. I’d give it 1,000,000 stars if I could—totally unforgettable!“

“Minimal, bright and welcoming hand roll joint. This place never disappoints. They have delicious animals and the service is always excellent. This particular location has a lunch special with the West Village location does not have. Best hand rolls out there!“

“Typically Omakase restaurants are very formal and proper. I planned, we walked in and what a great time. We laughed with all and they gave us free drinks.
Food prep was done with artistically done.

The precision of the technique, the freshness of every ingredient, and the unique flavor combinations make every visit an unparalleled journey for the senses. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting, adding to the feeling of a truly personal experience. Once you’ve tasted Chef Don’s creations, there’s no going back – you’ll crave this experience over and over again. “My favorite omakase place in the city! I feel so lucky that Takeda is in our neighborhood. The high quality dishes are always presented beautifully, and each time we go, we'd be surprised by some special offerings that are so delicious but that we have never tried before (e.g., tiny white shrimp). Chef Takeda and his staff are always friendly, professional, and very informative with each dish that they serve; they'll share the specific prefecture from which the fish is from, and other information such as the season for the fish, and whether they aged it and for how long etc. The environment is calming and you don't hear any outside noise, so we could focus entirely on the culinary experience, and I love that! It is an intimate setting and I thoroughly enjoy watching Chef Takeda craft each dish with meticulous precision. It's definitely a treat to come here!“

“You cannot beat their happy hour! Each piece of sushi is around double the size of your typical NYC piece. I also got the sushi tacos and those were fun and different from what I typically get. I also got a bottle of the cold sake. I will definitely be coming back here soon!“

“Have been here twice. Date of most recent visit was February 2025. Went with a party of 4, sushi counter for dinner. 2 of us availed the Premium Omakase and the other 2 with the wine pairing. Superb food. Exceptional service. We were served by the Executive Chef Shawn Li, awesome funny guy! All of the sushi were fresh, flavorful and well presented. You need a reservation to get in, and they fill out quick, i recommend reserving as soon as the spots open. Overall, 100% recommend and will definitely come back on special occasions.“

“I am a local from New Jersey now living in Germany, came back to visit and was in the mood for a Poke Bowl. I have to say I have been to many poke places and this is THE BEST ONE. Everything tastes fresh. I love that you have many options on creating your bowl. I also had a taro bubble tea and it was delicious! Employees are very friendly and welcoming. I will be stopping here a few more times before I head back to Germany!“

“Place is quite nice. My friends enjoyed their meals very much. It is a bit tough finding vegetarian dishes here and I wish the restaurant kept at least one or two large vegetarian dishes that arent pork/beef broth based. However, this may already be known to people before they come in, so shouldn't detract from the review. Ambiance and service were great!“

“Everything about this place is just perfect. My wife and I went here for dinner on our anniversary. The restaurant itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed and decorated, and every dish we were served was outstanding. I particularly liked the toro, wagyu, and eel/foie gras nigiri, but there wasn't a single bite I didn't enjoy. To top it all off the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive. We would highly recommend to anyone!“

“We celebrated a couple of Birthdays and Mother's Day here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We came for brunch and pretty much had the place for ourselves. I had the Goda Harmony which consists of the Rock Shrimp, Miso Cod and Medley of vegetables. It was wonderful! 🤗 💕 Many of my party got the Chirashi, and they enjoyed their meal. Others chose the rolls. One ordered the Nyeumen - thin udon soup Bowl with shrimp Tempura. All very yummy!“

“The food quality and set menus they have are really solid for sushi and quite delicious. I feel like it gets a little pricy and that’s why I reviewed them at a 4 VS 5 stars as I know I can get equally as good of a handroll in the city for a substantial amount less, but overall this is a good staple in Jersey City. The udon and miso cod are also pretty tasty.“

“I took my family here and it was good. The price is super affordable and the food is not bad. There are a couple new employees that do not speak English very well but some do. The atmosphere is just amazing from traditional Japanese sitting to normal tables. I will defiantly recommend this place.
Vegetarian options: There is a little section labeled vegetarian and my daughter really enjoyed it.“

“Once I found Katsuya, I had a wonderful meal. If you go, walk past Whole Foods, Peloton and a half dozen potted trees. It is upstairs but there is an elevator. “I had a fantastic dinner here early on a Saturday evening. I opted for the Premium offering and it was absolutely worth it.
I was really impressed with the creativity in the dishes. Particularly the style of the rice and the use of acidic elements like pickles.
This menu also includes a truly diabolical nigiri with Wagyu, truffle and uni. Truly insane in the best way.
Excellent service as well with really friendly serving staff and chefs. Sit at the counter if you want to see the action.“

“This place had fantastic service and sushi!I would compare it to Sushi Bar ATX and say that Shinn felt even more of personal due to their size and had better flavor pairings. Ofc it’s sushi and I understand that but Shinn is doing a great job punching above their price point for the experience. 11/10 staff 11/10 sushi. Forget Nobu and spend local.“

“Sushi by bou is a very intimate dining experience - 8 seats around a counter with the sushi chef telling you what each sushi course is. Omakase - like a chef's menu. This was our second time there and I'm planning to return in April. The fish is fresh, the presentation innovative. We had a flight of sake with the different courses. I have to say that I know nothing about sake but this pairing was delicious. Because the restaurant is small, your fellow diners enhance the experience and that was especially my experience last night. It's a great feeling to share your delight over the food with couples. A great experience. And, of course, we ordered repeats from the omakase menu.“

“Watami Sushi is one of those spots you might walk past without noticing, tucked away on a busy Manhattan street--but trust me, it's so worth checking out. The staff are incredibly friendly, which makes the whole experience feel super welcoming. And the food? Amazing.
