“Porta 23 has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Astoria. The food is consistently excellent, the cocktails are creative, and the service always makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and relaxed, whether you’re stopping in for dinner, drinks, or watching a match with friends.

The weekly specials make it even better. Taco Tuesday is one of the best deals around with three tacos and a margarita, Wednesday’s All Night Happy Hour is always worth checking out, and their weekend brunch is easily one of the best in the neighborhood.

If you’re a soccer fan, this is also an incredible place to catch the World Cup. Watching the matches on the projector and big screen with great food and drinks creates an atmosphere that’s hard to beat.

Everything I’ve tried has been fresh and full of flavor, and you can tell the staff takes pride in what they do. Porta 23 is the kind of neighborhood restaurant you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again. Highly recommended.“

“Had a great time at Bar Dalia having a birthday party yesterday. Ricky, Crystal and Megan made sure everything went smooth. Bryan was very helpful in coordinating and planning. We had about 20 guests in the back lounge area which was just for our party. The food and drinks were amazing. The service was very quick. I thought the Spicy Monkfish was very flavorful and good and the dolsot albap was surprisingly very tasty. Im usually not the biggest fan of albap but this was not too fishy and the crispy rice on the bowl was very pleasant and went well with the dish.
Duck bulgogi probably least special and ok to skip but not bad.“

“Grabbed takeout from Lucky Rabbit Noodles in Dumbo today for me and my best friend and I'm still thinking about it. Dean at the front absolutely made the experience. His energy is so warm and welcoming, and when I asked what to order he didn't miss. Every single recommendation was a 10/10.

We got the noodles, the house dumplings, and the lychee lemonade. All of it is incredible. The noodles have that perfect chew, the dumplings might be the best I've had in Brooklyn, and the lychee lemonade is so good I'm genuinely mad at myself for not ordering a second round.

“Here's the review Spencer wrote for you: My family and I just visited to celebrate my grandsons birthday- we like to get a bunch of plates and share family style and this menu was perfect for that. You have to get mezze and extra bread (must try the kubane). We also ended up getting three orders of the shishbarak for the six of us, it is way too good! I got the salmon for my entree which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. Spencer our server recommended the silan and the cheesecake for dessert so we shared those and boy were they something special- I can’t pick a favorite! He brought us a candle and we got some great pictures. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.“

“157 Tavern has been a staple in the area for 10 years and is an excellent choice for parties or group gatherings. You can simply provide them with your budget, and they will curate the menu for you, which makes the planning process very convenient.

Regarding the food:

Grilled Spanish Octopus: Highly recommended. The potato pave is delicious, and the octopus is tender with a perfect charred exterior.

Short Rib with Bone Marrow: The meat is very tender and falls apart at the touch of a fork, though I wish the portion of bone marrow was a bit larger.

King Salmon: Quite tender.

Burrata Cheese: Standard/average.

Caramel Flan: Delicious and beautifully presented.

Overall, it is a great spot for a nice dinner.“

“The popcorn chicken was so good. I think it was my favorite dish of everything we ordered, and the potatoes were perfectly done. The pasta was good, but I didn’t go crazy about it. The shrimp toast was good, and the sauce was excellent. The mushroom bibimbap was tasty and had a kind of coconut flavor at the end.

The restaurant was very loud; I couldn’t hear what the people at my table were saying. The service was all over the place. They had a problem with the AC unit dripping, so they put a pan underneath to catch the water, but they dropped the pan all over the floor and into the kitchen. They didn’t seem to clean their hands afterward and continued serving customers.

The restaurant was very understaffed. The food is great, but the place needs to feel a little cleaner and more organized.“

“Delicious pea salad, steak and potatoes with chimichurri, and black sesame bread pudding. The staff was incredibly cognizant of timing since I was seeing a show. I would absolutely go back for the steak and potatoes alone! The scallop crudo could have used more balance on the acidity but that is my only note.“

“I absolutely love Masquerade. It’s a home away from home and their SAG Eclipse cocktail is one of my all-time favorites.

Their menu has changed through the years but I’d say right now their food is great! I love their Tahchin and Chicken (the tomato and onion on the side is delightful).

“Went here on a whim to celebrate our friends special ocassion. The interior is nicely decorated and quiet. We ordered some patatas bravas, cheese and ham platter, white sangria and the chicken! Our food was brought our promptly and we enjoyed our food and drinks. The plates were easily shareable among 4 people and the food was good. The star was definitely the chicken. I'm not sure what they put in that chicken or how they cooked it but it was delicious. One of our friends declared ir the best chicken he's had in his life.

My only complaint would be how noisy the dining areas are- it's a popular place so it's always packed, and the subway tile on the walls bounces the voices and noise. We ordered almost everything on the menu. The appetizers, the entrees, etc and split everything. Out of everything on the menu the rice, potatoes and sausage were our favorites. If you go with a group I recommend ordering the shared plates, appetizers and dessert.

“I went to Plado for the first time last night with a couple of friends who had already been there several times and raved about it. They were not wrong to rave! The food was simply superb. Every dish was an experience to savor. It actually made me stop and slow down so I could enjoy what was happening in my mouth. Everything had various levels of flavor that made the experience worthwhile. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Standouts for me were hard to choose but if I had to, the taro gnocchi, duck confit, and roasted carrots were my favorite. Desserts were out of this world delicious and unique so I encourage everyone to save room. The ambiance is lovely and the chef and his wife are warm and welcoming. “Rana Fifteen absolutely blew us away.

A few of us did the Rana Table brunch and we were not prepared. It’s a full family style feast and it just keeps coming. Borek, marinated beyaz cheese, kizartma, artichoke spread, Izmir pine honey with kaymak, soujuk, menemen… dish after dish of incredibly fresh, flavorful Aegean food. All for $35 a person. Unreal value.

This is a unforgettable Brooklyn gem. Get the Rana Table, come hungry, you will not regret it.“
