“I've been here 3 times. Once with co-workers, a friend and then family. Each time was a different experience - all positive. I may have even reviewed this sometime ago. My first time coming here I came with co-workers and it being my first time they recommended certain dishes which I really loved. Soup dumplings, and rice noodles. My second visit was with a good friend of mine and we chose completely different dishes like the Peking Duck and spicy garlic ribs and a veggie fried rice. Phenomenal. My third visit I came with family. I pretty much repeated the same meal that I had with my friend but we also ate the sesame chicken, duck buns, more soup dumplings and spicy noodles. This restaurant does not disappoint. Soup dumplings are free if you order over a certain amount and it's not even a high amount, the wait time is minimal and the food is just so good. My son is a huge fan. Will be coming here a 4th time for sure!“

“This is one of my favourite restaurants in Flushing! (which is saying a lot) I probably come by at least once a month if not more frequently.
They can be a bit busy during peak lunch/dinner hours on weekdays, but service/turnover is quick and they are efficient with using the shared long table in the centre of the restaurant, so I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated.
I usually get one of the guo qiao rice noodle (過橋米線) options - obviously that’s their speciality; my favourites are the fatty beef 肥牛過橋米線 and the “xiu cai” 秀才過橋米線.
Each order comes a bunch of ingredients - meat(s) and small plates of side toppings - separately from broth and the rice noodles. Some orders on other tables had the dishes plated on a small wooden (eponymous) bridge or a staircase, which looked super cool!
After they bring all the food to your table, the waitress puts in all the ingredients, meat, and noodles in the broth in front of you and mixes. This is traditionally part of the guoqiao rice noodles experience, and I guess this is also good if you like taking aesthetic food spread photos, because the final product doesn't really showcase all the yummy toppings.
Anyway, it’s always super delicious. The broth is really rich and smelled wonderful; not too salty or oily, and it was nice to sip on each bite with the noodles and at the end of the meal as well.
Fatty beef was super delicious - very thinly sliced, tender, juicy, and its flavour cooking in the soup really made the broth just that extra bit savoury. The other cuts of meat (e.g. sliced pork, fish) are all pretty good, but nothing spectacular.
The toppings are also really solid. The 香酥 (I have no idea what this is called in English but the crispy/fried brown thing) was surprisingly tasty; not too oily or heavy and paired really nicely with the broth. I also like the tofu skin, wish they would have given more.
Overall a very great meal and very filling - portion sizes are already pretty big, and I think you can ask for more noodles for free (although I’ve never done so). Price point is super affordable, and for such a nice sit-down place in Flushing I think it's more than worth every dollar.“

“The store's handmade ramen is the most famous. Its beef noodles are very good and is everyone's first choice. The peanut butter spicy oil noodles are also very tasty and are our second choice. The scallion pancakes are also fried very crispy. Their soy sauce is Sweet soy sauce. General Tso's chicken is a favorite choice for children. The food is served quickly and the service is good at a reasonable price. Will come back again.“

“Food was great. But make sure to order non spicy if you normally do mild or medium. Their mild tasted like hot to me… affordable price with limited seating. But the rice noodles were amazing. Had to take one star off because of the extreme heat. I was sweating by simply sitting there and eating the noodles :(“

“Rating: 8/10

I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup ($13). The soup came with a huge variety of toppings, including beef, fish cakes, egg, veggies, and other things. The beef itself was tender and cooked well and the other toppings added to the overall tastiness of the soup. The soup itself was good, but a bit too spicy to drink a lot on its own. This place is located in New World Mall food court and cash only, so prepare in advance before coming. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want a quick meal in the Flushing food court.“

“Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was tasty, the service was good, and everything looked clean. They seated me quickly, and the portions were huge — one dish is definitely enough for two people.
I ordered a tomato noodle soup, but I found it had way too many noodles and not enough vegetables or meat. Also, since most of the broths are pork-based, there aren’t many options if you don’t eat pork. I also tried the mushroom (wood ear) salad, which was fresh and delicious.
In short: the food is good and flavorful, but I’d love to see more balance with the soup (less noodles, more veggies and meat) and a few more non-pork soup options on the menu“

“9/27/2024: (Update #2)
My favorite spot to get boiled dumplings in Elmhurst! I’m a bit biased - I grew up in this neighborhood, so Lao Bei Fang is very nostalgic to me. When you see the bright red awning, you know you’re at the right spot. The pork and leek boiled dumplings here are very hearty, meaty, and super juicy. They’re thicker-skinned dumplings which are definitely going to leave you full. Came here last week with my husband for a fast, casual experience with cafeteria-style seating and good dumplings. A box will fill you up quick in this no-frills restaurant. Don’t forget to load up on the chili oil, soy sauce, and hot sauce!
2024 pricing-
? $3 for (4) pork & leek fried dumplings
? $6 for (8) pork & leek boiled dumplings
4/29/2021: (Update #1)
Still cash only & we noticed that the prices for the dumplings haven't increased for a couple of years now! My fiance and I ordered the #1 Pork & Leek Fried Dumpling (8 pieces, $4.25), #2 Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings (8 pieces, $4.25), and #44 Scallion Pancakes w/ Beef ($4.50). Had a pretty mediocre meal at Lao Bei Fang Dumpling House last night though. The fried dumplings were much too charred and dry, compared to the previous times we've had meals here. The scallion pancake was not appetizing at all, being too thick and flavorless. The limp lettuce and the 2 thin beef circles didn't go well together either. At least the Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings were still good - next time we'll just stick with multiples of that dish!
6/10/2019: (Original Review)
Lao Bei Fang Dumpling House is always a good comfort food stop, if you're in the mood for some delicious greasy foods. My boyfriend and I came here after a day of rock climbing and it really hit the spot. We ordered the #1 Pork & Leek Fried Dumpling (8 pieces, $4.25), #2 Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings (8 pieces, $4.25), and #28 All-in-one House Special Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup ($8.75). Filling, good portions, and reasonably priced. Street parking could be a bit tricky, but is available (metered and free). Cash only, and they call your number when your order is ready!“

“Great Uyghur food (similar to Uzbek/Georgian with a hint of Chinese thrown in). Highly recommend the laghman and pearl noodles (very chewy and flavorful). Lamb kebabs were perfect. Big plate chicken was spicy and tender, with more hand pull noodles dumped on top. Samsas were juicy and crispy. A great dish was the cumin mushrooms, highly recommend. Shout out to being open on Thanksgiving.“

“A quaint and locals-favorite Thai restaurant serving prime dishes. We enjoyed every single dish that was brought to our table. The portions are plenty to share around the table: we had a party of four and ordered 2 entrees, 3 appetizers and a dessert.
The Branzino is the highlight of our dinner, which came with a grand presentation. Fish tasted clean and a hint of sweetness—delectable. We also recommend the Veggie Curry Puff, a savory and flaky goodness. As for dessert, we opted for their second best, Banana Pudding with Ice Cream since they were out of Mango Sticky Rice. Still a great choice!
Highly recommend to bring a few friends and family here :)“

“I was blown away by the Taiwanese Braised pork over rice at TiHu The Noodle House. Their sauce was rich and bursting with flavor, perfectly complementing the tender pork and rice texture. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and the service is attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Taiwanese cuisine!“

“Lunch special is great! Appetiser and main for $12.95, I’d recommend the chicken dumplings and the drunken noodles, I asked for a little spice and they did it perfectly. The service was amazing, my water cup never got below half full. Everyone was so kind and lovely to talk to, I will definitely be coming here again!“

“Flushing Gem: Unbeatable Prices and Bold Flavors
A must-try for lovers of authentic Korean-Chinese cuisine, this Flushing restaurant delivers incredible value and unforgettable taste.
This hidden gem in the heart of Flushing has quickly become my go-to spot for genuine Korean-Chinese dishes. Their Jajangmyeon is, without a doubt, the most affordable in the neighborhood. For a price that’s hard to beat, you get a generous bowl of perfectly chewy noodles smothered in a rich and savory black bean sauce. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal that won’t break the bank.
But the true star of the show for me is the spicy clam dish, a delightful combination of fresh clams and noodles tossed in a fiery and flavorful seasoning. The heat of the chili is perfectly balanced with the natural sweetness of the clams, creating a harmonious and addictive taste. The noodles soak up all the delicious sauce, ensuring every bite is packed with flavor.
The restaurant itself has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. The service is friendly and efficient, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. If you're in Flushing and craving delicious and affordable Korean-Chinese food, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. You won't be disappointed!“

“Always enjoy coming here! Having lived in china for several years this place really hits the spot when I get that craving. The Yunnan Spicy Pork is quite a treat. And spicy dishes are spicy! No watering down here. I’ve yet to try the Peking duck they have but will definitely bring more friends.“

“This place was delicious. The noodles were the perfect amount of chewy. The flavors were perfect. The dumblings we're so flavorful you didn't need dipping sauce. We got noodles in chili sauce and beef brisket noodles. Both were delicious, the meat was so tender in the beef brisket. I did wish the noodles in chili oil was a little spicer. But maybe I look to white for the full spice version, 🤣. The person who runs the place and takes your order is so kind. She was able to negotiate us a place to sit. It was busy when we got there, only a few tables in total. Service was quick, and this place is busy. Totally worth it. This place is definitely a gem and I am sure we will be back.“

“Name of the restaurant does not indicate it's a Taiwanese restaurant but the quality of the food certainly does. Their beef noodle soup has thick cut meat and solid broth. Their oyster pancake is ok, the fried chicken reminds me of the night market big star chicken, a must try. If you dine in, they provide peanuts and a small amount of cold veggies to munch on while they prepare the food. The cafe is very much like a Taiwanese style mom and pop cafe. Pricing is one of the best also!“

“Finally I tried this place, always been curious ever since last year. I ordered fried rice, seaweed egg soup, shredded beef with pepper and fried chicken cutlet. The seaweed egg soup just a lil bit too salty but other than that its really good. I think the best.
Fried chicken cutlet was good, then the shreded beef, how can I say. I like the taste, but I was expecting they cook it lil bit longer, like more burnt/browniesh as that what I always remember about shredded beeef dish from any taiwanese restaurant.
Fried rice was okay. I cant complaint.“

“This place is awesome! We get takeout here often but the food definitely tastes better here. However, the items are always well packed and always arrive impressively piping hot. It never disappoints.
Their food is delicious and the service is friendly. I love that the silverware and napkins are available table side.
They give you a generous portion of kimchi and don't skimp on the refills. Their kimchi is definitely one of my favorites. I'd also like to note that they include a good portion with your meal - even if you're ordering takeout.
I don't think you could go wrong with w any of their noodle dishes, but definitely try their seafood pancake. It's delicious!
This place is super busy on Saturdays so plan accordingly. Clean and spacious. I wish that they were open on Sundays.“

“I’m a fan of this corner cafe. It’s right in the heart of Little Thailand and they have sweet and savory dishes to try. I had Thai hotpot for the first time here and it was much different than the hotpot I’m used to eating, but I liked it. It was much more intense in flavor with more notes of acidity. They also have an amazing duck noodle soup and the boat noodles that I’d recommend. The dessert option is great too, I didn’t know what to expect from the Rooty Tooty but it was perfectly sweet. The staff here were super nice as well, we definitely felt welcomed here!“

I’ll keep it simple. In Queens where you can get the most best Thai food outside of its homeland, this little shop on the southern tip of queens is a gem. Get the ma kin kaprow if you’re new and get a Thai tea to wash it all down. Been ordering here for quite a while now and it’s something that’s always stayed the same with no issues.“

“This is my go to place, food is excellent, I tried multiple things on the menu and they're all great. I mostly do take out. I would love to eat in but this place is like a hole in the wall small. Place itself is very clean, cute and cozy, it just that it is really small so there are like maybe 3 tables, so you would have to be lucky to walk in when it's slow so you can get a table.“

“This place has been around in Flushing for a while, and their rice noodles are still pretty good. That said, the broth could be richer—it used to have a deeper flavor, but now it feels a bit lighter and could probably be cooked a little longer. They recently launched some set meals, and for two people it came out to just over $50.“

“This is not Deoksugung Palace, but has been changed to a raw fish restaurant. We went to Wassada Hoepocha for lunch, and the two of us ordered a large portion of assorted raw fish and ate a lot. If you go to other places, they serve a lot of sukidashi, but the sashimi is served in 4 pieces of each type on top of something like a stone, and they use dry ice to create an optical illusion, but here, the sukidashi is served simply, but the sashimi is really steamed and served in abundance. The salmon is eaten with red pepper paste and wasabi sauce, the tuna is wrapped in seaweed and dipped in oil sauce, and the flounder is eaten with ssam sauce, so it's really delicious. The sashimi was so plentiful and fresh that I thanked the chef and he really impressed me. The owner served me very kindly, so I enjoyed my meal. Oh, and after you finish eating all the raw fish, spicy spicy spicy stew is served in an earthen pot, so make sure to save some. There is a $20 difference between the medium size and the large size, so I ordered a large size to try to eat as much raw fish as I could, but I ended up getting so full that I ended up packing the rest. This is enough for two people to eat together. I think I will eat it generously. Sea Story was $200 for 4 people a few years ago, but it seems to have gone up now. This is a place where 4 people can fill their stomachs with sashimi for half the price. I highly recommend it to those who are serious about sukidashi.“

“Xi'an Famous Foods is a popular chain of Chinese quick service food, serving up hand pulled noodles and a variety of spicy dishes.
The service was efficient and fast, with multiple self ordering kiosks available. There was many customizations available for the meals, as you are able to customize the spice level and any additional toppings.
We got a variety of dishes, but tried the pork hand pulled noodles and the lamb hand pulled noodles. Compared to other locations, this one sort of fell flat, but that could be because we lowered the spice level and had less oil. The noodles were nice and bouncy, with the chewy texture, but did feel a bit dry. There wasn't much flavor beyond the spice, and the pork was also a bit dry as well. The portion and price were good, however we'd have to try other things on the menu to see how the flavor is.“

“Stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant while I was leaving JFK airport. Had a hankering for noodles and the beef noodle HIT the spot 🔥 the beef was so tender and perfectly seasoned, especially since the dish is only $8 (you won’t be able to find a cheaper or tastier beef noodle in all of nyc). Got a congee and sesame pancake on the side. All dishes were incredible
10/10 would recommend!“

“The food is absolutely delicious and for such cheap prices compared to other places, it is so worth it. They have some background music playing, not the best quality but makes the experience much better. At first when I went in there was like a projector shining and a heater, but all I had to do was just ask them to turn the heater facing up and they also let us move tables. The overall food and experience is amazing, and I definitely would come here again.“
