“We had an excellent meal at Sweet Spot Café on Coney Island Avenue. They provide good service with attentive staff speaking both Russian and English. They work with our pace, which was a relaxed time with family for a celebration. I had Chilean sea bass, which was outstanding. Each item on my plate was delicious: the fish, the vegetables and the mashed potatoes, which were very good. The sea bass was moist and scrumptious. My companions enjoyed their chicken and lamb kebabs. Note that kebabs here are thin slabs of meat, not the cubes you get elsewhere. People really like the octopus appetizer. Not a lot of octopus but tasty. Greek salad was good. Not an enormous portion but but tasty. Some people really like the calamari. I thought it was a less than generous portion. Overall we would have liked a little more volume to the appetizers. The entrees were just right. Some members of our party had soup, which came in good sized portions. One person had a Georgian beef soup that he liked. Two people had green borscht, a summer soup with tasty greens in it. We had rose wine, which I was not crazy about. Might be my taste and not the wine. You can bring your own wine. No corking fee. Note there is a $30 fee if you bring your own dessert. Nice basket of bread. I really appreciate the dish of soft butter that came with it. For five of us the bill for five entrees, three appetizers, two glass of wine and three bowls of soup came to $250 including tip for a very good meal which we were there for a few hours. Sweet Spot Cafe is a good place for a celebration.“

“We love Georgian food so decided to try this spot while in the neighborhood yesterday and it was excellent, easily among the best Georgian restaurants I’ve tried in NYC. Nice and laid back, it’s byob but there’s a deli on the corner selling a good selection of cheap Eastern European beers on the corner. Their khatchapuri is amazing and I really liked the fact they whipped it up for you table side. So delicious. As a starter the dolma were also outstanding - nice sized grape leaves stuffed with meat. We also had the Georgian fried chicken with garlic sauce. This was a new dish for me but wow! The chicken was so tender and went so well with the garlic cream sauce! And their napoleon cake which they make in house was the perfect fonish. Just an awesome Georgian food experience that I’ll be returning for more of.“

They serve solid Central Asian cooking, which, as usual, includes some Russian specialties. I usually get some sort of lamb shashlik and either the potatoes and mushrooms or the herring and boiled potatoes. Moreover, the prices are pretty reasonable.“

“While we have eaten in many Albanian-owned food establishments, most offered primarily Italian-based fare. Dinner at Si n'shpi, which Google Translate told us meant "Like in the house" (homemade?), was our first authentic Albanian restaurant experience. Located on 65th Street in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, Si n'shpi's storefront didn't stand out but the inside of the restaurant was very pretty. We arrived for an early dinner and ordered two appetizers and two mains. Arrows in the attached menu photo point to those dishes. We loved everything. The cabbage salad was made with an oil and vinegar dressing and the 'fli', a layered savory pastry served with a block of cheese and a pickled green tomato, was out of this world. (I would come back for the Fli alone.) The qofte n tave - which translated to "may it be in them" ? - and grilled chicken with mushroom sauce were very tasty. The food was served with complimentary bread. Olive oil and vinegar cruets were on every table. Service was friendly and attentive. We really liked this place!“

“Delicious food, great presentation, and excellent service! We had an early family dinner at Chateau de Capitane in March 2024. It was Sat but the music would start much later so there was no noise and we could talk.Almost all food we ordered was exceptionally delicious, from appetizers to desserts. The service was very attentive and we also got good suggestions helping to avoid ordering too much :)We highly recommend Chateau de Capitane for excellent delicious food and we'll certainly be back!AppetizersTrio Tartare - awesome! It had tuna, salmon, and yellowtail tartare and each had its own distinct taste. Can't really say which one was better as they were all good but different.Sesame Tuna - perfect! Tuna was tender and flavorful, melting in the mouth.Duck Salad - this one could be better as the duck was dry and scarce.Arugula Goat Cheese Salad - delicious! We were debating whether to order this salad as we make it at home, but we didn't regret. It had a perfect combo of ingredients + some sauce or smth making it a harmony.Kutaby with Herbs - fresh, warm, flavorful.Belyash with Meat - this eastern russia deep fried meat patty was about 1.5x of the standard size. It had perfectly fried dough (not burned) and plenty of juicy medium cooked meat inside. I tired belyashi in restaurants in russia and made at home, but this one surpassed them all. Just this single belyash already makes it worth coming back to Chateau de Capitane :)SoupsUha with Salmon - it was good, fresh, and clear. Plenty of salmon. It was tasty but somewhat standard. The taste could be made more colorful with some extra spices and maybe lemon.Dushpora - fresh and tasty, with cute mini-dumplings. We all tried and liked it.Solaynka - this one was unfortunately a miss. Tasteless and over salted.MainsDuck with Dried Fruits - simply amazing! If you like duck - this a must have! The portion was very generous and had la parts of duck - legs, wings, and breast. It was super juicy and tender, cooked to perfection. The dry fruits were of a good variety and matched the duck.Chilean Sea Bass with Creamy Polenta - soft, flakey, delicious! It wasn't not too fatty as a sea bass could be. Polenta was a great match as well as a mushroom sauce served on the side.Grilled Branzino - it was served nicely peeled off the bones and had great flavor and texture, yet was not "fishy".Stuffed Jumbo Shrimps - these were very good according to the people who ate them.“
