“Everything about this restaurant is excellent. The sake selection is both delicious and educational and the staff are great gurus. I’ve been for the brunch, dinner and the duck dinner all three have been outstanding and I always get the vegan soft serve for dessert which a server promised would not taste weird and, in fact, tasted like some of the best soft serve I have ever had and now I crave it. The space is big and austere and well designed but still somehow cozy. This place knows how to be a great and iconic NYC restaurant in food, drink and vibes but somehow also feels like the staff is having you over for dinner and nerding out of how much you’re going to enjoy the food. At brunch get the pancake. At dinner get the skewers and any vegetable possible.“

“This place is fantastic!! The food flavorful and you’ll end up craving it a few days later. I highly recommend their spicy katsu chicken sandwich and their curry bowl. They have fun Japanese drinks, desserts and snacks as well. There is sometimes a long line but it goes quick. Definitely check this place out.“
“Ordered the miso flatfish teishoku set with the eggplant and shiitake pickles. Every single piece of food was perfectly done. The fish was cooked so it was flaky and moist and had a great miso flavor. Each pickle was so juicy and had great texture. The cold sencha was also especially great.
I couldn’t fault a single thing about the food. My only complaint would be the price is fairly high for lunch, even for Brooklyn prices. That being said, in my opinion, you could taste the amount of care and attention that was put into each ingredient.
I would definitely recommend this place to Japanese food lovers. The food here was exceptional even compared to teishoku sets we’ve had in Tokyo.“

“a truly excellent meal that was the highlight of our evening. Sophisticated enough for a beautiful date but casual enough to have a genuine, enjoyable time. I'll be thinking about the Uni Crispy Rice for many days. my only gripe was that the menu is a QR code, needing to use our phones. In an environment like this I would've preferred to not have my phone out at any point, but I will definitely be returning!“

“My plus one and I really enjoyed our time here. We had just gotten home from vacation and were in a mood for Ramen and this place did not disappoint.
Let me just say that this place has such a traditional Japanese vibe to it…the staff is warm and welcoming and the food was spectacular.
We had the ramen, both original and spicy and it was very delicious. We also had two Asahi beers and called it a day.
Overall, I will come back to this place more often.“

“We came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday, as we’ve been to about 6 different omakase experiences in the past couple years and have loved the variety of each, this was no exception—but may i say how wonderful it was now?
Atmosphere was clean and warm, with wood and stone features, plates, and interior. We were kindly able to move up our reservation from 5:00 to 4:40 as we had arrived in the city quite early. The staff was all wonderful and had made note from my reservation that it was a birthday celebration which is always SO appreciated, as i know it’s not always something spaces do or are even expected to.
Service: so kind and attentive, everyone was very sweet to us and our chef seemed genuinely happy to talk about the selections for the day.
Food: The best part, was immaculate. Truly a story telling of food that we enjoyed every single piece of. Variety, artistry, elegance and fresh. We went with the $150 19 course selection which came with 4 appetizers, 11 pieces of nigiri, 1 hand roll, a gorgeous wagyu sampler and dessert. (Forgive me if I missed anything, there was so much food and certainly worth the price) The appetizers were inventive and well presented, the sushi was classic and took us through this beautiful little adventure of light to deeper and rich flavors.
Drinks: we got a bottle of cold sake which was served in a sort of wine chilling contraption that was not only a fun spectacle to look at and use, but very functional in keeping our alcohol chilled.
Truly, truly a wonderful experience and would absolutely recommend. Thank you so much.“

“My partner found a hidden gem in Williamsburg. We tried the seasonal omakase set. The fish was fresh, each piece was delicious. Also, enjoyed that when each piece came out, the hostess would show us a photo of the fish we’re eating. Chef Leo is really knowledgeable with the food, so don’t be afraid to ask for information. Will definitely come back!“

““Authentic Japanese Experience!!
I recently dined at Izakaya Nana, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambiance is cozy and refined, giving off an authentic Japanese vibe. Every dish was a masterpiece, but the standout for me was the tornado omelet fried rice. The fluffy, swirling omelet draped over perfectly seasoned fried rice was both a visual treat and incredibly flavorful. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicately prepared, and the ramen was rich and satisfying. The staff was friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations. A bit pricier, but absolutely worth it for the quality and unique experience. Highly recommend for a taste of Japan—don’t miss the tornado omelet!“

“You cannot beat their happy hour! Each piece of sushi is around double the size of your typical NYC piece. I also got the sushi tacos and those were fun and different from what I typically get. I also got a bottle of the cold sake. I will definitely be coming back here soon!“

“Loved everything we had - karaage, tempura, chashudon and gyudon. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked well. The chashu had amazing flavor, and the rice was so good. I haven’t had well-cooked rice in a very, very long time. It was quite special!“

“Had a belated birthday dinner here last night with my gal friends and it was everything I could’ve hoped for.
This was my first omakase experience! From the hot towel, to the ambiance and service, I felt cared for.
We each did the $65 omakase and it was more than enough food. The sushi was so fresh and creative.
My friends really enjoyed the sweeter sakes and next time I’ll be partaking in a glass myself. The Yuza sake is so delicious.
I will be back and highly recommend this place! Thanks for the hospitality.“

“A must in my opinion in NY. Great ambiance and the food is amazing. A jazzy atmosphere with a Japanese menu.
The prices are really good for this crazy city, both for cocktails and dishes.
We still waited 1 hour to get in, but it was worth the wait. There is also a $10 cover for the artist.“

“This is my new favorite takeout place! The sushi is some of the best I’ve had in Brooklyn, and the prices (especially for the dinner boxes + lunch specials) are more than reasonable.
The most recent times I’ve ordered, I’ve needed to swap out the roll in the Sushi Dinner due to a dietary restrictions. I called the restaurant and they were super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend ordering from here!“

Highly recommend the shio duck with housemade spicy chili paste. The tofu was also incredible, unlike any tofu I’ve ever tasted and much better.“

“First time here and it was amazing!! First - the ambiance is nice. It’s very cute inside, you take your shoes off and sit on cushions on the ground. It feels very calm and relaxed. Second - the fish is really fresh and the concept is fun. It was cool to experiment with the different salts and make our own handrolls. Every piece was delicious. You also get soup, and they have good drink options as well. Third - great service! Our server checked on us multiple times. He was helpful regarding the menu. He even asked if we were celebrating something special and brought a dessert with a candle! We will definitely be back and I can’t recommend this place more.“

“A Hidden Gem Near Pod Hotel
We stumbled upon this cozy spot near our hotel and had an early dinner. The place was quiet at first, perfect for conversation, but it filled up quickly by the time we left.
Service was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed their Platinum Sake, while my boyfriend tried the Japanese IPA—both excellent choices.
For starters, we had pork gyoza, edamame, and uni croquette. Each dish was comforting and satisfying. For mains, I went with the veggie curry rice from their specials—light, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. My boyfriend had udon soup with shrimp and egg, adding a bit of chili oil for an extra kick.
This was one of the best meals we’ve had in NYC, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for such high-quality food. It brought back fond memories of Japan.“

“I had an issue with an excess charge on my credit card for a take out order. The owner contacted me and investigated it. He refunded the excess amount and I'm glad they are on top of it. Great customer service and really wanting to make things right.
Overall, I enjoy eating here and I've recommended it to my family and friends. I have tried a couple of their dishes and they are popular for their handroll. Sushi set is also a must. The sea bass is my fave, it just takes a while to be cook because they grill it. My bf likes the hormone don. A good spot for those who wants to try korean/ japanese fusion dish. The take out box sushi set presentation adds a nice touch. ?“

“Ginza Don in the Golden Mall Food Court, Flushing, Queens, offers an astonishing dining experience with its donburi rice bowls topped with a variety of proteins like beef, rib eye, steak, and eel, all cooked right in front of you. Watching the food being prepared adds a unique touch to the meal. Their new appetizers, like the mozzarella cheese sausage and crunchy karaage fried chicken, are absolutely delicious. This spot is a must-try, and I'll definitely be back to sample more of their donburi offerings!“

“Spicy tan tan ramen and cha shu rice ball were especially good. I would definitely go back again.
The vibe of the restaurant was cute too, although unfortunate to be seated next to a very loud table which made it very distracting and hard to have our own conversations.
Service was average, staff was nice but would like to see them at least offer a fork or straw when they see a small child at the table.“

“Visited here for dinner and I loved it. You can choose between two menus, depending on how much you would like to consume. The restaurant is located on the second floor and was not too busy when I visited. Kei was great, very attentive and friendly! The Wagyu appetizer and sushi were probably my favorite. I looked forward to dining here again.

“I cannot recommend Ikigai enough for the amazing food, beautiful ambiance and thoughtful service. Chef Rafal’s dishes are masterpieces, and you can tell each dish was created with so much attentiveness and love. “Took my wife to Sushi On Me for her 50th birthday! We had a group of 8 which was perfect. Each of the 15 courses was beautifully crafted and served with an explanation of what it was before eating it. The sake flows like water and so do the curses as it is cheered to “Enjoy your F-ing dinner!” And we did! Will be back!“

“My girlfriend and I came for the $155 per person omaskase to celebrate our one-year anniversary and I couldn't give more praise to Noz Market. Not only was the sushi absolutely delicious (might have been the best shrimp and squid sushi pieces I've ever tasted), but the service was impeccable. Chef Shige gave an explanation after every piece and definitely displayed some showmanship with the uni. He made the whole experience that much more enjoyable and gave us some good laughs in our conversations with him. Highly recommend for a great omakase experience (especially at the price) and for a pleasant time with Chef Shige.“

“Japanese curry is one of my favorite foods and I feel like it’s hard to get it just right - but A-un does! Their curry is the perfect thickness and spice level, and they give you plenty so you are’t left with more rice than curry. Seriously, the best I’ve had in NY and at a great price point with excellent service and ambience! Definitely returning.“

“Absolutely loved our experience yesterday. The basic omakase was delicious at $38, no hidden charges, and staff were lovely. Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“Cute lil spot in Long Island City that opened approx. a year ago serving up authentic Japanese fare. Great for impromptu lunch or to catch up with friends. They do open for dinner and drinks but I haven’t been yet.
I came for lunch with two of my friends. We tried the Omurice, Vegan Ramen and Matcha Soufflé Pancake. I omitted the bacon from my rice. The rice was a bit dry or overcooked and the egg wasn’t as eggy/runny as expected. We shared the matcha pancake, it was delicious enough to disappear in under 5 minutes. Our drinks were delicious as well. Mine was a bit too sweet for my taste so I watered it down.
I’ll definitely recommend and be back!“

“I came here with coworkers during lunch. It was around noon on a weekday and wasn’t too busy, so we were seated immediately. There’s some really good deals here with great food and prices. I got the two roll special (6 of each type) which comes with a choice of miso soup or salad. It only cost $13 and you can upgrade to three rolls for $15. The sushi tasted great and the price will definitely have me coming back.“

“We came here with Mommy and her aide. It was a nice little place. This is not a traditional Japanese restaurant, but it serves pretty good Japanese food. Lunch has good value due to their bento box. Winnie and Sherry served our table, and they were lovely to talk to. I had yaki udon. Mommy had salmon teriyaki. Her aide had a tempura box. Hubby had a katsu box. The ginger dressing for the salad was awesome. Each bento box includes a California roll but my noodle came with it too. Overall, the experience was pretty good. We don’t mind coming back.“
