“Really shockingly good Sichuan food. The mala flavor was really delightful, it was really pleasantly numbing and incredibly flavorful. We got the dry pot baby rib and kung pao chicken lunch specials and both were quite excellent. The kung pao chicken really stood out to me as being particularly flavorful and nicely spiced. The interior of the resturant was also gorgeous and not too busy during lunch hours.“

BBQ Spare Ribs were amazing in taste & fully cooked, not too soft, just right! Scallion pancakes arrived very crispy & not soggy like others I’ve had! Pork fried rice was seasoned perfectly! They also accommodated my no egg request in the rice for an added bonus! Dumplings were delicious with an adequate amount of juicy pork filling! Boneless BBQ ribs were soft, full of sauce & tasty as well! Prices are a bit higher, but you get your money’s worth overall! Try it you’ll be happy you did!“

“The owner and his son are the highlight of my experience here. The son is so much fun to talk to and is one of the best people to have in a service industry. He helped us know what to avoid given my wife’s dietary restrictions and also made an extra effort to make dumplings that could match her restrictions.

The food has so much wonderful spice. Their mount Qi noodles are such a highlight on any cold day and it’s one of the reasons I went there 4 times across two weeks“

“Large quantities and yummy food! We got 2 combos for two for 6 ppl and it was more than enough food. We got the classic spice with bean curd and king oyster mushrooms, chicken wings, and pork belly. We also got the tomato soup with fish and beef with lotus root and wide noodles plus milk custard and spicy noodles. Would come again!“

We thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Hunan cuisine. We requested our dishes to be prepared at a mild spice level, and we were very satisfied with how the kitchen accommodated our request.

Do note that it is quite spicy- yes mapo tofu is typically spicy but I did find this to be particularly spicy haha. “Another hot pot place to try that has seasonal crawfish that is so fresh, you won’t regret ordering it. Crawfish are giant with fresh garlic flavoring. The soup base is out of this world and is a must try if you are in flushing. We got the tomato and pork bone and I’m telling you, some soup makes your mouth dry because of the high msg content but this one doesn’t. Everything was fresh and the staff were top notch. I know there a lot of hot pot in flushing and there are so many good ones out there but none can say they serve fresh crawfish and 12% off high school ID for students as a promotion. I will be honest, if it wasn’t for the crawfish and the discount, it would be harder to separate as there are many good hotpot spot but for now, this would be my go to spot until the promo is over.“

“Chongqing Lao Zao is a restaurant where you go not only for the delicious food but for the entire experience. You walk through the entrance and it is like stepping into a whole new universe that takes place in ancient China. The staff is friendly and seating is comfortable. So many food options and a beautiful sauce bar as well. Definitely recommend the dual pot. Beware of the amount of chilis in their spicy broth. Mild is shockingly spicy but we ended up separating the chili peppers from the broth after a bit and got the tomato broth to balance it out. A small thing but we also really enjoyed the little snacks they brought out in the beginning. Watermelon seeds and I think they were broad beans? Seasoned really well. Highly suggest either grabbing a reservation or joining the waitlist early here.

“I’ll be honest, I almost talked myself out of ordering here. The menu felt a little intimidating at first, but I’m so glad I pushed through. The sauerkraut fish soup completely won me over, rich, bold, and way more approachable than I expected once it’s actually in front of you.

“They do traditional Chinese food and Western Chinese food, and they do all of it really well. We are fans of the general tso chicken, mapo tofu, whole steamed fish, dry pot pork and cabbage, beef lo mein noodles and fried rice. The meat they serve with the noodles were plenty for a single serving. Love a good Asian restaurant that serves hot tea on the house too. I’d come back for the steamed fish too instead of trekking to flushing for it. Ambiance is subtle with a few statues and huge waterfall. We did a lot of deliveries there and decided to dine in and it seems like a quaint place for dinner with wood decor and a huge tree too. Service is so friendly. The pig steamed bun were very good too, not too sweet, the way we like it. Highly recommend for a nice affordable Chinese cuisine.“

But this crepe had no sauce and I asked for it be made with everything on it lol… it was so bland and dry it tasted terrible, even adding hot sauce did not help. And I know this is not norm for them. So this is just for everyone to please check you got the order you asked for or at least with sauce if you want; otherwise, you are basically eating cardboard cause I feel the sauce soaks into the pancakes and dry crisp.“

“Places like this barely exist in Midtown anymore. Land of Plenty feels like a true neighborhood spot. The restaurant is modern and clean and the Chinese food is absolutely delicious.

We showed up with a group of ten and they were able to accommodate us without any issue. The service was fun, friendly, and attentive the entire night. The bar also looked like a great place to hang out.“

“We had a very pleasant experience on Sunday Feb 15 , 2 pm at Moon Kee. It was a party of 10 at one of the round tables, for a birthday. Some people were quite hungry, so we started ordering dim sum right away from the trolleys that were making the rounds. All of the dim sum dishes were excellent. The main dishes that came later were also on point: well cooked, tasty and quite large portions. Very few of us were able to finish our meals; many take-away containers were required. The staff kindly helped us serve out a birthday cake that we had brought in. My only small critique, which brought the atmosphere rating down to 4 stars, was that our table, which was the round one closest to the front door, would get blasted by a cold draft whenever the door opened. I recommend that they install some sort of windbreak entrance as you see at many restaurants.
Overall, a delightful experience, large quantities of delicious food at reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back, and will recommend to others.“
