“Kept seeing the ads all over social media, so I finally ordered for the 1st time....Wow is the only way to describe it. They were piping hot when delivered and packaged well.
The patties are a good size and are absolutely delicious. Flaky crusts and the coco bread is as soft as a billowy cloud. Best beef patties. 😋
My favorite is the curry patty but I will definitely purchase again.“

“Got to try a beef patty at Prospect Park Smorgasburg. Soooo savory and delicious! The spices were perfect. And the crust! Incredibly flakey. It was so delicious we got another to take home. I will be dreaming about the next time I can buy another and try the other flavors 🥺“

“I saw that one review from the person saying their oxtail was bad, but saw a plethora of positive reviews standing against it. I decided to give them a go and do NOT regret it! Lovely little spot for a late night meal! The cashier was very pleasant with a great attitude. I came by after finding my Airbnb and ordered 3 empanadas: Jerk Chicken, Salmon, & Oxtail. This is not a standard menu option, but she told me I could mix and match :)
I loved it!!! WONDERFULLY tasty food and a perfect crisp to the empanadas - not too hard and not too soft/mushy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“

“Made reservations for my girls and I to check off another place on our Foodie list and this place was great! Good service and food was delish! Nothing cheap so you will be spending some dollars 😜
I didn't get our server name but she was amazing! She recommended some choices from drinks to food and it was perfect!
We left out for the bit and when we came back, the DJ was rocking out some good chunes as well lol. Ended our night just right. Definitely recommend this place and will check them out again“

“The Jamaican Jerk Chicken tastes like baby back ribs, but in a way - (in my opinion) it's better, since it's chicken and not pork. It has that smoky, smoked-spicy baby back rib flavor but with a kick of Jamaican spices. Very tasty.
This with the black beans and rice, and the sweet vegetables, hit the spot on a rainy Saturday afternoon in LIC in NYC. 😊“

“Today I walked into Lucky’s and ordered the stewed chicken and curry chicken. I have no hesitation when saying this might be the best student curry chicken I’ve ever tasted in my life. And believe me this is not my first curry, chicken or stewed chicken. The flavor on both the chickens were impeccable. The chicken was so tender, and could easily be picked off the bone. And the stew and curry complemented the soft rice beautifully. I will definitely be coming to Luckys again. This is my new favorite Jamaican food spot in New York City.“

“This place has amazing Jamaican food! We have tried the mild beef patties, oxtail, jerk chicken and chicken curry. The meals come with a cabbage- vegetable blend and fried plantains. The owner gives so much food and is very friendly, but the food is so flavorful, hot and delicious! We come back here a few times a month. I especially recommend the oxtail- it’s like a party in your mouth with all the delicious spices!“

Check out their mouth watering curried goat! Jerk chicken! Jerk, sweet chili or grilled Salmon! Succulent oxtail falling off the bone! Don’t leave without a few fritters (fish cake)! A must try is the Irish Moss porridge!!!!! Menu stretch long & wide with every dish a winner 🥇 !!!!!
Place is clean! Also, you can view how your food is being prepared! Fresh herbs!!! Not all that powered seasoning! Don’t just take my word for it! Go try them!!“

“visited Paradise Jerk Jamaican Restaurant for the first time today and decided to try the cornmeal porridge and an order of sweet plantain. I have to say, I was very impressed! The porridge was smooth, creamy, and full of authentic Jamaican flavor seasoned just right with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. It had that comforting, homemade taste that instantly reminded me of traditional island cooking. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick. The portion was generous, and the food came out hot and fresh. For my first experience, it definitely left a positive impression, and I’m looking forward to going back to try more dishes on their menu.“

“This place had some of the best jerk chicken I ever had in my life. I've gone back 3x times in the past month and they are not there anymore. Does anyone have an updated location for this jerk pit?Because now I'm sad...sad spelled backwards is das and das not good :/“

“My first time at Kingston Grill and I’d it weren’t for the professional, well mannered lovely lady at the counter it very well could have been my last. However, I will definitely return as in addition to the wonderful customer service experienced on Saturday July 22 at around 4pm. The food was delicious!!! I ordered the oxtail meal as well as sweet chili chicken wings. Awesome!!“

“Decided to stop by since I was craving Jamaican food tonight. The portions are huge here! Definitely a bang for your buck. Got the stewed chicken and the jerk chicken for the rice platters. I love Mac and cheese so I definitely had to try it with some jerk chicken on top. Everything was great and the customer service was as well. I’ll definitely be stopping by again.“

“It was a good experience, I went there initially to find out how much it would be for a small pan of BBQ chicken and it was way too much so I didn't order it but I did get half chowmein and half fried rice with BBQ chicken and it was really good. I'm Guyanese so they did a great job with the food.“

“$ Classic Jamaican food, loved the fried dumplings and salt fish in the morning, had a great conversation with the cashier, excellent local spot, great customer service. I’m from Brooklyn so I take pride in the places uptown that can deliver a more authentic Caribbean cuisine experience without breaking the bank on pricing.“
“I absolutely LOVE the food. I got a plate with oxtails, rice & peas, plantains and he makes sure your plate is full. Everything tasted like it was seasoned perfectly, the gravy was surprisingly light and delicious. I’m 1000% going back.
I sincerely doubt the bad reviews are from him, the plates aren’t even the same. I met his Mom too and she was really sweet! Made the experience even better ?
FYI: I took the picture below after a couple bites“

“I’m using a 5 start review so people see this. These staff members are genuinely disgusting. I’m unsure if it’s the owner or if it’s a manager who was speaking to me, but I came in today after seeing a disabled homeless man asking for food outside (he couldn’t come inside because his mobility scooter was too big) and i decided to go in and ask if they had soup. The lady looked outside, saw the man, rolled her eyes and straight up told me no. Regardless if she wasn’t lying or not, don’t give attitude to people who are consumers or potential consumers. You also should know how long your food takes to cook since I know this place has been open for a while. If food takes 3 hours to cook, you start making it before consumers come in. I ended up going somewhere else and buying this man some soup because no one deserves to be hungry and cold. Horrible service and attitude.“

“HMG this place is the best night cap food shop to stop this place remind me back in Jamaica the dumpling shop on Waltham Park road east road where you could get your breakfast on your way to work in the morning have to go back to eat fry roast breadfruit and ackee and salt fish ......“
“Place is very clean, the food does taste good, you only have to watch out for the amount you take it goes by weight. Overall, I like the food here, its buffet style most things are weighted by the pound.“

“I came across this place, after taking my son to school, I was hungry so I thought I'd give it a try, I had the saltfish with, yam, dumpling and green banana, OMG the food was soo good, flavorful, right amount of seasoning and pepper , I will definitely come back to try other items, so good“

“The jerk here is pretty good but I just think its a bit on the pricey side. They smoke it right on the street in barrels so its cooked the right way & typically served with a slice of hard dough bread, so things are done in a correct way. I just can't come to terms with the price. If it was only a few dollars less.“

“I ❤️❤️❤️ the food. My daughter us a picky eater, but she loves their food. I can only eat the steamed snapper, I can't have butter so she suggested coconut milk. Oh My Goodness!!! Delicious! I can't eat it from no one else! God bless....Keep doing what you do, drown out the distractions 🙏🏿 😊“

“Rock Island & Grill = Jamaican food heaven 🌟. I went in skeptical, left a believer. Jerk chicken was ON POINT—spicy, smoky, and so tender it fell off the bone. Oxtail was fall-apart amazing, cooked with love and served with rice & peas that hit like a warm hug. Grilled fish? Fresh catch, perfectly seasoned. 🔥
Only thing? Lines get long on weekends, but trust it’s worth it. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican with a laid-back vibe, Rock Island & Grill’s your spot.“

“If you like great tasting and spicy jerk chicken this is a great spot to get it. This my go too spot for good jamaican food for a good price!
I'm feeling like pulling a point or 2. 6 years later and I'm having an issue. Some staff is making it their business to mettle with my orders all because I needed to correct them one time. I still order 4 dishes 2-4 times a week. If substitutions aren't allowed anymore I wish they would tell me. Im not unreasonable. Loyal, regular customer for 7+years.“

“I was looking in the area for a black owned restaurant to have breakfast, and came across this gem.
Great service. The lady at the counter is very pleasant, both on the phone and in person. The breakfast was great, I had a large plate of ackee and salt fish with sour soup sea moss juice. Everything homemade. Compliments to the chef. 👌🏽 Everything well done. I wish I had taken a picture of the plate as the presentation was beautiful, but I couldn't wait to dig in lol (I absolutely destroyed that plate 😁). They also make lunch and dinner food, they have cakes, and authentic Jamaican deserts and snacks. The place is also decorated with lovely afro centric prints on the wall. Will definitely visit again.“

“They jokingly say online “If the lady serving food at the Jamaican spot doesn’t have an attitude, then the food is no good”… a shame but so many people feel it’s true. We as a Caribbean people often get entirely too comfortable serving our own with a nonchalant carelessness. I as a business owner myself take note and wholeheartedly appreciate when I get great service consistently. I can’t speak for everyone but as far as Precious, Michael & Tamia here, have consistently been amazing at upholding a gold standard of service. From greeting you with a welcoming energy when you walk in, to making sure you get everything you need before you walk out. This is one of my go to places to grab lunch. Much love to the staff and team who show up for work everyday to kindly service their commUNITY. The diaspora needs more of it.“

“I stumbled upon this place by chance while walking down Fulton St. Had a very nice salmon and rasta pasta plate for $22. Only 2 seats in the place but I was alone so no problem. Good food ! Not many choices but my plate was VERY good. Thanks...get some coco bread please. :)“

“The food is delicious and portions reasonable, pricing is very affordable however they need to invest in customer service: meaning perhaps offering delivery and taking orders over the phone! If your lunch time is 1hr it is not feasible for you to stand on line half hour just to get food!.“

“For Thanksgiving dinner we ordered a large pan of j*** salmon and a pan of Rasta pasta. The pasta was amazing and the salmon was even better! They don’t serve you small pieces of salmon... they were meaty! And made for great leftovers. When I visit New York again, Island Choiz will definitely be a go to.“

“I enjoyed this place a great deal. The Guyanese in me was in awe that the plantain fries tasted like my fave fish and chip place in Guyana. The bartender was heavy handed, so not only were the drinks good, but they were also strong. The music was also pretty spot on.“
