“Marathon Cafe in Richmond Hill is a great spot when craving Hong Kong–style comfort food and a solid milk tea. The menu has lots of affordable combos, and the pork chop bun, pineapple bun with butter, and snack dishes are tasty and filling. The star here is definitely the Hong Kong–style milk tea, which is rich, smooth, and easily one of the best in the area. Service is fast and straightforward, and even when it’s busy, food comes out fairly quickly. It’s a casual, no-frills place, but that’s part of the charm—perfect for a quick meal or afternoon tea break.“

“Food is mid, 3/5. There are better noodles in the area but this is not bad for the price. We tried the dry noodles and braised beef noodles with soup as well as a few cold dishes.
Service is excellent though - very quick and they gave me a hair tie, bib and basket for my jacket and bag.“

“I ordered the bbq and crispy rice one and it was so good. The portion was generous, the BBQ was flavorful and tender, and the crispy chicken had that perfect crunchy texture. Everything was well-seasoned without being too salty or oily. Definitely worth it!“

“We went for dinner here yesterday and it was one of the best service ever. They greeted us and served us with a smile and enthusiasm throughout. We ordered noodles and they were good. We also ordered schezuan
chicken which was very dry to our liking and when mentioned, chef made a complementary gravy for us :) Their veg fried rice also had a lot of flavour and was really good
Hidden gem - must visit“

“So impressed with how good this place was!! The crispy ribs with chili pepper were fried to perfection and so crisp + flavourful! The chicken sandwiches were also perfectly crisp with juicy meat, and even the lettuce was fresh and crispy. Portion size was big too. Loved the spice and sauciness of the mala suicide chicken sandwich and will definitely be coming back here again 😊 even after driving home it was still crispy so I imagine having it fresh would be even better“

“The fried baos are delicious and I love the crispy bottom. It makes it a bit difficult to bite through without worrying about backsplash from the hot juice though. I also enjoyed the mini wontons which gave me a bit of broth to sip on while I ate the drier foods like the Chinese crepe and the baos. I think we paid in cash which gave us 10% off“

“Just had an amazing experience at this Chinese skewer spot and I’m still thinking about it 😋🔥
The skewers were perfectly grilled — smoky on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with bold, authentic flavors. You can really taste the care in the seasoning, especially with the cumin, chili, and garlic blends. The variety was great too — from tender lamb and beef to delicious veggies and tofu options.
Service was friendly and quick, and the vibe was lively without feeling chaotic. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for sharing with friends, late-night cravings, or just treating yourself to something flavorful and fun.
If you love grilled skewers or want to try something new and exciting, this place is definitely worth checking out! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“

“Family Sunday lunch after Mass at church. Good choice. Chinese food with an edge in taste, presentation, & price. Just delicious. We had their lunch special which is value for money. Family ordered chicken, beef soups, mixed seafood, crispy beef. The beef was soft inside and crispy outside. The sides - mango salad, siu mai, crispy shrimps, chicken roll were all above the usual Chinese food. The seating though was a bit tight, the art decor is nice. Great for family dining. Service is great as well.“

“A small Hong Kong style cafe on Yonge street. There is no parking available that we will have to find paid street parking around the vicinity.
We visited on Tuesday lunch time. The cafe was quiet.
The meun is interesting as they have stonepot rice and other promotional dishes than the usual cafe menu.
The stone pot rice was pretty good as it was cooked upon order. The food quality and materials used were good too, except the ovaltine condensed milk French toast, of which the bread was kind of hard.
Service was friendly.
There are many other traditional Hong Kong style cafe items for you to choose.
Price was a bit higher than other similar establishments in the area.“

“I ordered the pork knuckle rice and the half pork knuckle and half pig intestine rice.
The pork knuckle was super tender and flavorful. The rice box comes with lettuce, pickled veggies, tofu and half an egg. I wasnt a big fan of the pork intestines because of the taste.
The total came out to around $28. The meal is super filling for the cost“

“I got the lemon-infused sauerkraut soup. It was absolutely delicious. It's nice that they also have quite a few extra things they give you (free of charge) in your dish like vegetables, rice, and large-sized portions of meat. The variety of options they have with their fish options are amazing, some with pumpkin-flavoured items and whatnot. Would definitely recommend! Only downside might be that this place is quite popular so there can be long wait times (as seating is limited) and quite a bit of noise (at the time of writing, on most days the restaurant is filled with a lot of people who can be quite disruptive to a happy meal).“

“Almost 5/5, but honestly the most impressive Northern Chinese food in GTA.
Guo bao rou was the best I’ve had in a while. It’s really soft yet crispy and chewy.
The noodle was of great quality but just not my preference. For Koreans, the sauce tastes like 된장+쌈장.
Also ordered yang chow fried rice, but it was made out of a very fresh-out-of-cooker rice with expected ingredients missing - shrimp, pork, etc. Didn’t taste ‘bad’ but definitely home-y taste.
Regardless, I will be back for sure for the guo bao rou!!!“

“Although the restaurant is small, it feels very warm and cozy. The rice noodles taste great, and the soup is rich and flavorful. They also offer some Yunnan snacks, such as beef pancakes, which I order every time. I often come here for a bowl of rice noodles after playing badminton nearby—it’s very satisfying and relaxing.“

“We came here with my toddler and immediately the server brought out plastic bowl, scissors and plastic spoon and fork. I love when servers know exactly how to cater to their customers. The 2 person combo was so much food at such a good price it came with 2 bowls of noodles, skewers, 2 pops and an appetizer for $34.99. They don’t skimp on the portions. Food arrived hot and tasty. They kept giving me tissues throughout the meal. Great place for a meal with kids! Highly recommend!“

“We visited Bao House in North York about two weeks ago and had a great experience.
It’s a Chinese dumpling spot (they also have noodles), and the dumplings were so good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and really well made.
The service was also great. The person helping us was very kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area and craving dumplings.“

“This restaurant had been around for quite a while and I still visit here once in a while. Food quality is always consistent. I like the flavor for the spicier dishes but it may not be everyone since it offers authentic Chinese spiciness. Parking at Time square is plenty but will get messy starting from lunch time. Staff is friendly and I had ordered both takeout and dine in here before.“

“I had the Shezwan Chicken with Brown Fried Rice & Vegetables. Portion size was generous and satisfying without feeling excessive.
The quality speaks for itself. The Shezwan sauce was well coated and glossy without the dish swimming in oil.
The vegetables Pak choy, carrot, broccoli, and onion were properly stirfried rather than soggy or overdone.
What stands out most is how light it feels compared to many Chinese takeaways. The fried rice was properly dry-fried and separated rather than clumped and greasy, which makes a noticeable difference both in taste and how you feel afterwards. The Shezwan spice level was balanced and the balance between protein, rice, and vegetables was just right.
Overall a solid, well executed dish that delivers on flavour, portion, and quality without leaving you feeling heavy. Definitely one to return to.“

“Came in here on a whim because my regular lunch spot is under construction.
The pho was very fresh tasting, with a really nice broth.
My brother got the shrimp wonton soup and he said his was very yummy.
I'll definitely be coming back to eat here again. You can tell it's a small, family owned business, and I love to support local.“

“The quality is very good for the price. The staff is friendly and seen and comfortable ingredients are fresh and prices flow. I will not review each item I ordered S7 pork chop cut lid for $5 is the best value. You get two full hot pork. Cutlets crazy good value and quality c3 potato slice. This one is not worth it. It was raw and had a weird taste. I also ordered r16 fish small chicken noodle soup and that had very good noodles. I like how it's Al Dante and one the noodles were different but I personallyante but some people might like it. Maybe just don't soak it in the soup so early put like half of it in and then eat and then put the other half later and one is $13.99.
Update may 20 visit 2025.
R16 is my fav. N1 r1 and f4 is just okay. I think f1 soup is good also better than f4 soup.“

“Lived in the neighborhood for 40 years and just found this little gem hidden away, I never knew it was there after all these years. Mandarin at Yonge and Eglinton just closed down so finding this place couldn't have come at a better time. Although I wish I had known about it long before now.“

“Overall, my experience was just okay.
The environment was pleasant and clean, and the general flavor of the dishes was acceptable. No major complaints on the ambiance or basic taste.
However, the main issue was the freshness of the food. The meat did not seem as fresh as I would have liked, and some of the cold dishes also tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. This significantly detracted from the meal's quality.
If the kitchen can address the freshness of their ingredients, particularly the meat and cold appetizers, this restaurant would definitely earn a higher rating.
Would you like me to make any adjustments to this review before you post it?“

“Came in for a friend's birthday party, the price for dinner was decent and the food selection was actually pretty good! We came during a Wednesday night so there wasn't too many people here. I assume it gets most busy during lunch time. The food selection ranged from noodles, rice, fish, chicken, dim sum, soups to even sweets such as jellos, fresh waffles, cake and ice cream. There's also a salad bar. Everyone enjoyed their food, averaging 3 plates for each friend (not including dessert) our recommendations is the lo mien and the chow mein with string beans. My friend really enjoyed the cocktail shrimp with the seafood sauce. I also really liked the muscles. The staff were friendly, esp our host. Each food item was pretty decently seasoned. Birthday boy ordered the margarita, it was sweet and refreshing he said. Oh, I forgot to mention each person was given a free soda drink which is kind of them. I'm surprised as I usually don't have high standards for buffets but I'd love to return here eventually. Thank you staff for the nice experience here :)“

“This restaurant is over 20 years old and is now a self service restaurant. You place your order at the counter, get your own tea or hot water, pick up your food, and place your tray back on the rack when you are done.
Everything is now served using plastic or disposable containers and chopsticks. Food is still decent and I would recommend if you are looking for a quick meal.
However, it seems like they don't expect tips anymore.“

“Really enjoyed my meal at Xin Yi Time! It’s getting harder to find affordable meals these days, so I was surprised that most dishes here are under $13 while still giving such massive portions.
I tried the Taiwanese braised pork rice and it tasted very authentic — super flavorful, well marinated, and nice and saucy. Every combo also comes with rice and 2 veggies, which makes it feel like a complete home-style meal.
The shop itself is small and simple, run by a friendly Asian auntie, which gives it a cozy homemade vibe. Definitely more of a takeout spot, but great for a quick affordable comfort meal. Would come back again!“

“Fresh, authentic chinese food with traditional western chinese food options available. I ordered the mapo tofu, mouthnumbingly delicious from the schechwan peppercorns. Took a little under 10 minutes to make, which I'm fine with if it means fresh food. Had it for take-out and it stayed hot all the way home to the other end of the city. If I lived closer, I'd order more often on those nights that I dont feel like cooking. Generous and great value“

“I gave a 5 stars was becos' u know what I went there so many times, went for lunch , bunch & supper too. So, there was good & bad abt. this. I tell u u have to try the pineapple crust topping bbq pork buns. I could eat a doz at 1 go, but of cos' I did not do so, there r other food to taste. Too bad for their deals , u can only choose A or B, & also only 1, u cannot choose 2 of A. So we had to go back to try the B. I preferred the B. If u had to choose, choose B. The tray of goodies r very good. The supper was ok. So I can show u some of the food we had.“
