“In general, the dishes I ordered was so delicious and Hong Kong styled. The portion is great and very valued for money. The steak was juicy. The curry chicken ( 咖哩雞) and salted chicken ( 鹽焗雞) was so tender.
The waitresses were so nice and helpful.
New City Restaurant has been put as our regular family visit. Yummy!“

“This specific location is one of me and my partner’s go to spots. Not just because the meat is prepared better here, but because of Deborah’s service. She always greets us at the door and remembers every tiny details. Moving the chairs so we can sit same side, provides us extra chili powder (highly recommend to sprinkle this on every piece of meat), “everything the same?” after we place our order and our excitement for the complimentary marshmallows at the end. Deborah goes above and beyond for this location. Shoutout to her for always carrying the whole restaurant on her back.“

“A REAL Hakka restaurant! I almost pokai when I found this place thinking that no way this is real.
Yep, it is real and is not the Indian Hakka that we always see!!!!
Stuffed peppers and tofu was really yummy!
Had the lo bak and it was nice.
Salt baked chicken was delicious!

“Having a warm claypot meal on a cold day really hits the spot. In fact i was so hungry and eager that i didnt even take a picture of the original presentation. When taking into account the price and what you get it's a great deal.
As for atmosphere, this is no fancy restaurant. It's one of those hole in the wall types. But you can see it's one where people can comfortably eat without ceremony.“

“The environment is comfortable and the restaurant is very clean. Staff are quick, friendly, and efficient.
The portion sizes are much larger than expected. I ordered the BBQ pork on rice, and it was the first time I finished the rice while still having BBQ pork left — very generous serving.
We also tried the fried chicken leg with fries. The chicken leg was literally bigger than my face, with a super crispy skin. The fries were fragrant and well-seasoned.
During afternoon tea hours, drinks are included for free. we tried the red bean ice cream drink and the grass jelly ice cream drink. Both were good and tasted just like they should.“

“It is my first time to visit this Hong Kong style cafe/restaurant although I know it has been there a long time. A good surprise that the food quality is excellent. Very tasty, not oily, even the drinks are very good, Hong Kong style milk tea and the iced lemon tea are the best among similar restaurants. The only limitation is due to the smaller space, the tables are close to each other. I have also heard that this place is very busy during the regular lunch and dinner time, so maybe you will have to wait for a table.
Parking: This is a busy plaza especially on weekends, will take some time to find a parking spot“

“Tang Dynasty Best Food has been one of our family’s favourite spots for many years. The previous owner retired a few years ago and sold the business, but the new boss lady who runs it now is incredibly kind, hardworking, and welcoming. She always greets customers with a smile, and sometimes her children help out too, which adds to the warm, family-run atmosphere.
This food stall is located inside the food court at New Kennedy Square, so it is ideal for quick meals or takeout. Personally, I prefer to bring the food home to enjoy in peace, since the food court can get lively with people chatting, playing Chinese checkers, and the occasional group of older folks talking loudly. If you do not mind the noise, it has a lot of character, but takeout is definitely the more comfortable option.
The restaurant used to advertise that it was under a Hong Kong executive chef, which explained why the food was always authentic and rich in flavour. Even though that chef may not be there anymore, the food remains delicious and consistent. I believe they are still using the old menu, but keep in mind that prices have increased slightly because of inflation and higher food costs, which is completely understandable.
Our go-to dishes are braised tofu with fish (豆腐焖鱼) and half a free-range chicken (半只走地鸡). The tofu is silky and savoury, the fish is tender and fresh, and the chicken is juicy with crispy golden skin. For about twenty-five dollars, the meal easily feeds a family of three and always leaves us satisfied.
They also offer combos for two, three, and four people, which are all very affordable. Most of them are under fifty dollars including tax. The portions are generous, and it is a great deal for families or small groups. Sometimes when we ordered larger meals or spent over fifty dollars, we even received a complimentary red bean crispy pancake, which was a sweet and thoughtful gesture.
They advertise that they do not use MSG, but like most Chinese restaurants, there is likely some MSG or sodium used to enhance the flavours. That is what makes the food so tasty, although it can be a bit salty at times. I hope they can be more transparent about that or reduce the amount slightly in the future.
The portions have become a little smaller compared to before, but when we mentioned it to the boss lady, she was very understanding and explained that other customers had also shared the same feedback. Prices have gone up slightly, but that is expected given the current cost of living.
It is also worth noting that this place is best for cash payments, since small local businesses like this usually prefer cash, and it makes the checkout process faster and smoother.
Overall, I would generously give Tang Dynasty Best Food 4.5 out of 5 stars because they truly deserve it. We have tried many Chinese food places across Markham and the Greater Toronto Area, but this one is close to home and never disappoints. The food is flavourful, the prices are fair, and the service is always kind. It is one of those comforting, reliable places that we will continue to return to every week. 😊“

“This is one of the best AYCE hot pot places ever!! They have such good food and amazing services! I personally order the tomato base and it is one of my favourites, plus, all of the food and add-ins here are delightful. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone I know who are looking for a delicious and amazing place to go for some hotpot!!“

“A small Chinese restaurant featuring traditional Cantonese cuisine. Dishes include lobster, crab, fresh fish, oysters in shells, and many other delicious goodies.
This time we ordered their famous sweet and sour pork, chicken, steamed eel in black bean sauce, braised stuffed tofu, and specialty soup. All were well prepared and delicious.“

“Food was really good, everything came fresh. I would recommend getting the sweet and sour fish, it was perfectly crispy with a balance of sweet and sour. Our server was very kind, she even gave us dumplings on the house and offered to pack our food for us. Would come back again.“

“I had dim sum here this week, and the food was excellent!
I’m honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews because our experience was really good.
The service was exactly what I expected — and honestly, one of the things I love about authentic Chinese restaurants is that they let you enjoy your meal without constant check-ins. When I needed more hot water for my teapot, I just signaled the first server I saw, and they took care of it right away.
I’d definitely recommend this place!“

“Their chili oil is the best. I traveled from NY to bring it back a dozen bottles. They know it too. I told them I came from the US just to get their hot sauce and they said, “yup we know, people from the states get it from us all the time”. It’s got a little bit of heat (not a lot) but it’s sweet and got a lot of umami.“

“Went here on a weekday night and there were many tables available.
The claypot rice was good. The rice was delicious and had a nice crispy layer on the bottom. The toppings were ok.
We ordered a few other dishes and I felt that the flavouring was a hit or miss. Like some were over-seasoned and some were under.“
