“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“Stopped by for lunch and had a really enjoyable meal. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and nicely prepared. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was attentive, and there were plenty of tempting options on the menu. I'd definitely recommend it.“

“This is a different sort of review. We missed our reservation because of a flight. I travel a lot and it can be a pain when the flights don’t line up with dinner plans.
The team there was so accommodating on a busy night and when it did not work out, they were so friendly that it made me want to come back.

“Went last night with a group of 4. Usually I have to think how many stars I give. Not in this case.

This was the best dining and food experience we have had in a long time, The tasting menu was impeccable and incredibly delicious. From beginning to end there was not a single course that was not excellent. I can write abut the food courses but as they will change makes little sense. Let me tell you, it is wonderful mix between flavours.

The atmosphere, the service with the best server you can experience (shout out to Jessica) made the overall experience a 6 star but I only can give.

“This was a really cool experience! We went in knowing this was a dining experience with students learning their chosen craft- meaning we were not expecting perfection. BUT let me tell you, it was all fantastic and exceeded our hopes. The food was delicious, creative and the cocktails were made very well! We really enjoyed getting to meet Tommy as our server and learn about him and what he wants to do next.
We got the prosciutto and asparagus appetizer, and the chicken and duck dishes, with a Paper Plane and Old Fashioned cocktail, with orange creme brulee for dessert. Fantastic flavors!

“I love my shawarma. Like a lot! My friend and I decided to try this place on a whim, and DANG I'm glad we did! This shawarma was so flavorful and perfectly crispy! Like, I love their shawarma so much it could make me cry haha 😂. So, if you are a foodie like me and want to try something that will blow your mind and probably change your life for the better, GO TO WHAT A SHAWARMA!!! And the Baklava... Goodness gracious!!! 😋 And the service was so freaking good! Such awesome people working here!! And you can tell when someone is passionate about making food versus your average fast food place. The food is always amazing no matter the location, the servings are generous, and the staff and servers are friendly without being intrusive. I really liked their high chair for little babies. It was the type that attaches to the table — it was perfect for our 10 month old!“

“Not truly wheelchair accessible. I was very much looking forward to dining here. After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.“

“A very cosy uptown restaurant ! I have been several times over the years and it never disappoints. Was there again last night and have to say the veal scallopini was excellent. It was a tough choice as there are so many delicious things on the menu. The friendly and excellent service, food and ambiance was perfect. A big thank you to the staff for such an enjoyable evening. “My husband and I stumbled upon Peter Pan Bistro after a long afternoon exploring the Queen West neighbourhood, and we are so glad we did. We arrived around 6 on a Tuesday and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. The roasted chicken was absolutely wonderful, tender and full of flavour, just the kind of comforting meal you hope for after a day on your feet. The staff were warm and unhurried, and we left feeling like we had found a real neighbourhood gem.“

“Didn’t realize I was dining in Vancouver tonight bc this meal was gastownnnn!!! Went for a highly anticipated grey Monday tasting menu and was wow wow wowed by pretty much every bite (particularly the shrimp ravioli, and yes, I’m GLAD it came with bread). Do the freaking wine pairing if you ever go, it’s well worth it to have to think just a lillll bit less and have a sexy little sip to hold hands with each course (thank you Jake!) “Incredible Jamaican vegan cuisine. I’ve wanted to try Ital food for a while but found it hard to get to some of these places. Decided to try out the new Line 5 LRT and this spot is next to the Keelesdale Station. Mainly a takeout spot but they allowed me to eat there because it wasn’t too busy. Loved the food!!“
