“if you want to eat fish, they have fish and definitely don't skimp on the portions. If all you care about is the food tasting good and its reasonably priced and good portions, this is the sushi spot. If you want your food to look fancy and be expensive then i would recommend eating elsewhere. I'm not saying the sushi looks bad, sometimes the rolls are a little sloppy and fall apart. I love unagi and i love dragon rolls. Do NOT order the dragon roll here it makes me sad. Their salmon is really good though. Would recommend the spider roll.
Side note:
4.7 stars on google with over 900 reviews! that would make this one of the best sushi shops in the Portland area. There are some restaurants that have 4.8-5 stars but significantly less reviews.“

“Had my second visit to Kaede yesterday and it was just as incredible as the first. The omakase was outstanding — everything fresh, seasonal, and prepared with amazing attention to detail. The space itself is intimate, stylish, and has a quiet, understated elegance. The couple running it are warm and welcoming, with a kind, no-pressure approach that makes the whole experience even better. Truly a gem — I’ll definitely be back.“

“This hands down is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland OR. It the same quality of other top spots in the US like Nobu , O-Ya , and Morimoto . The location is perfect located in the Pearl district. The chefs are high quality and the fish is extremely fresh. They have a great but simple flavor approach. The service is warm, helpful, and appreciative. I always ask for Joy as she is a true professional and loves providing an exceptional experience on every visit.“

“Large menu with high quality assortment of entrees, noodles, bento, and beverages. The traditional Japanese design aesthetic includes a sushi bar and table seating in a comfortable ambience perfect for quiet dining for individuals and groups. Service is attentive and prompt. The Chirashi Bowl is my favorite because fresh lemon, wasabi and shoyu sauce highlight the assorted sashimi and rice. As in Japanese cuisine, where it’s believed to have digestive benefits, a small vibrantly-colored Dendrobium orchid blossom is an edible, delicately-flavored garnish on each dish. 🌸“

“We love this place! We eat here regularly, and truly enjoy the food, cocktails, service, and ambiance. The black cod miso yaki is our favorite dish - it's delicious and I highly recommend it. The veggie and shrimp tempura is the best I've ever had, with an interesting mix of eggplant, mushrooms, squash, lotus root, and onions - all lightly battered and served with a delightful dipping sauce (pour the dipping sauce on the black cod, it's so good). The cocktails, especially the Japanese 75 and the shiso gin drink (I can't think of the name), are well-balanced and mixed properly, and are very yummy. I tell everyone I know to try this place! Some of the food can seem adventurous if you're not familiar with Japanese fare, but it's all delicious and beautifully presented. Finally, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the owner is a very sweet and funny lady. All around, Sushi Kuni is a great dining experience and I highly recommend checking it out.“

“I was so happy to stop in here with my husband the other day on our daily walk around the city! We had passed by the day before and the staff (maybe the owner?) approached us, chatted with us, and invited us in! We had unfortunately just had our lunch and were sad to have to say we couldn't.
The service on our visit was lovely --- warm, inviting, and quick (but not too quick). You can tell a lot of love and pride goes into their restaurant and their food. The restaurant is small, but cozy. They have a cozy little outdoor seating area as well.
We ordered their Special A:
• salmon, snapper nigiri
• crunchy roll
• spicy tuna roll
We split it for our little brunch date, and we were so happy with how fresh everything tasted. Not just that, but every single item was noticeably different and flavorful in its own way. I'm not normally a big fan of nigiri, but this wasn't overly chewy or fatty. They had a wasabi paste that actually caught me by surprise with how delicious it was!
This was such a pleasant experience, and I'm looking forward to many more visits and sushi rolls. 💚“

“I would love to give this place five stars. They're are often not open during their scheduled business hours. I've been here multiple times in the last few weeks at 12:00, which is when they say they open yet they are closed. I'm sitting here right now at 12:15 and their food truck is closed.“

“I miss it!!! I used to go here weekly when I worked nearby (until the end of 2024). The owner always remembered my usual order and was very friendly. I often think about the tasty sushi burritos and am sad that it's so out of the way now. I'll go back any time I'm in the area again for sure.“

“Located in the Hollywood district next behind Trader Joe’s. It’s a family owned restaurant with friendly staff and delicious sushi. Good for family outings and date night. I love that they have a wide selection of different sakes and beer. Love the bluefin toro nigiri and cherry blossom roll! My go-to sushi joint for over 10+ years. Try it out, won’t disappoint!“

“I was walking around aimlessly last night, and found an alley full of food carts, decided to eat at this one last night and ordered a Spider Roll.
Not only was it filling and delicious, but it was prepared quickly. Better than a lot of sushi places I been and the prices are very reasonable. Highly reccomend.“

“Visited twice since I been here in Portland. Great vibe, nice, and friendly employees. I had been suffering depression all week and hadn't eaten. Stop by after doing my laundry. Had some miso soup, calamari, and Jack Daniels jack and jingle to drink. The bartender, the music, the ambience, and food was really good. Changed my mood and I got out later Saturday night and had a great Sunday. I highly recommend this place. My co-worker says the spicy tuna and jalapeno poppers are awesome. On my try next visit list“

“This is definitely the best sushi place in oregon! But you should avoid this place on Friday between 2:30-3:30 because it is full of the thing you are scared of most, but only during that one hour. Other than that it is the best sushi place in oregon!“

“I had a nice, relaxed experience here the other evening. It was somewhat busy but the server got my order quickly. I enjoyed some quality sake while waiting for my sushi. The wait, not so long, was worth it. I loved the Playboy roll, with seared tuna, and the Mango Tango roll even more. The miso soup was good; the decor and atmosphere was pretty cool. But the sushi was delicious. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. I'll be back for sure.“

“I grew up eating asian foods so trust me when I say, this is really delish Japanese food! We had the rainbow bowl, karage bowl, baked salmon, ramen, bao buns & the musubi, all super good. We came at a time where it was really busy so had to wait a bit, but the service & quality were worth the wait. Thank you, we will be coming back 😊“

“Anyone can seemingly make sushi seem better by making it more complex, but the real test is whether they can take the simple and make it excellent. Sushi-Ki-ichi does just that. They stick to the simple offerings, leading to an experience that feels less Americanized than other Japanese restaurants. That's not to say I don't love some level of creativity, but you don't need it here. That's because the family that owns Sushi Ki-ichi wants to create an authentic meal - a notion that was confirmed for sure when we had a conversation with the owner. In fact, they take quality to the next level with their equipment and efforts they take to make sure that what they serve is the highest quality, including specific freezers for the fish. We didn't try Sushi Ki-ichi for the first couple of years because we figured that the previous restaurant, a Chinese buffet that had gone downhill and fallen off the cliff, had rebranded and reopened as something new. Now I feel that for those first couple of years, we missed out. This has quickly become my favorite place in Portland. I look forward to any trips I take across town from Vancouver to Tigard, and make a point to stop in and grab a bite.“

“I tried SushiLove for the first time today (Oregon City location) and I am hooked! The service and food were amazing. I couldn't decide what I wanted to try first, so I ordered a half order of the Glazed and Confused, half order of the Mother of Dragons and an order of the Starry Inari. SO SO good! My new go-to place. As someone with Celiac, I love that I can have this Sushi without any worries! Even the little soy sauce packet was gluten free. ❤“
“Excellent quality, wonderful personality on their chief who will present the dishes as she is fixing them and will do a custom order on the spot if needed and if she is in The rice is not to dry or wet, and firmly packed like I like it. The meat has been consistently fresh and well flavored and the veggies crisp or the avocado consistently fresh as well. Well done overall.“
