“My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family. My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years. The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!“

“Have only had their baked goods and breads at Riverwards previously which are all excellent. Beautiful space, bustling kitchen and really good coffee and food. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich it's HUGE, crisp bacon ??could easily share and save room for a laminated pastry of sorts. However, it's small, tables are packed in and yet there's an endless stream of oversized, empty strollers for 5-7yr olds who last time I checked have legs and can walk independently and those feral children are screaming, banging on the glass pastry cases, and running all over the place bumping into food runners and their parents do nothing. Most aren't even buying anything but a juice and maybe a drip coffee. It's a shame as the place is really cute but I can't stand it being overrun by clueless parents with ill behaved children.Parking: On a narrow street, VERY limited parking in this area“

“Located in the heart of Chinatown, another establishment that doesn't take credit cards. Instead payment is via Venmo. So I guess that great since you don't need to pay tax. They have a limited selection of baked goods (see photos) and drinks. Menu is a bit chaotic to read (but this is Chinatown). Baked items are very fresh. Limited seating inside though. Prices are cheap for this economy.“

“202403/04I don't know what their vegan lox is made of but it is freaking delicious and I'm positive if I just handed the lox of love to someone on the street they would NOT be able to tell the whole thing is meatless. It was so darn good!! Also tried their pistachio rose cookie and jasmine peach scone in March and they were delicious as well! Our forever favorite neighborhood spot!202302Today I tried cheesesteak and Phillywide (sausage egg and cheese sandwich), both are vegan! Cheesesteak $14 is made with black bird seitan. It tastes like chicken at first glance, but it looks like gluten when you eat it seriously, but overall it’s delicious.Phillywide $12 It’s delicious with beyond sausage and the eggs are pretty real too!202209There are no bakeries in this area. This opening makes me grizzly excited!I didn’t look at the details carefully, but buying two scones, two muffins, a biscuit sandwich and two bagels totaled $23, which I thought was a good deal! There are also many types of pastries and bagels. Many of the items are vegan. I really like them. The pastries are delicious. Everything and the salt+rosemary bagels taste a little salty to me.“

“We had the best service with Kate! She gave us tips on what to order and ahead of time was dead on. We started with a cocktail and had a glass of wine with dinner. We split the spicy chicken empanadas, delicious, however, we did not detect the spice. We split the green chili Caesar. Honestly, the best Caesar in town. I do t see how they get it so cold and crisp, it's amazing! We then each had a ceviche. The baby shrimp, which were much bigger than anticipated, such wonderful flavor! My daughter had the crab, the server suggested mixing it right away to get the sauce mixed in. Very good! It did need more liquid. We simply poured the extra shrimp sauce in the crab, it was superb after that. The tomato on the shrimp just gives it more moisture and such a good flavor! We can't wait to go back!“

“Just moved into the neighborhood & decided to take a walk. I saw this tucked inside a little shopping center & now I regret it. Should have stuck with Dunkin Donuts bc after eating an everything bagel w/cream cheese from there, I’m addicted. I almost walked back for another one it was that good AND I don’t want to be addicted to another carb. Lol. I more than likely will get my fix tomorrow. Great customer service & very friendly. I have a new bagel place.“

“Gina makes the BEST rosemary cheddar scones you will ever find! All the treats in the shop are so tasty and baked with love, but the scones are outstanding! Gina and her staff are so sweet and friendly, that the “Sweets” of their Sweets on Darby name refers as much to the people as it does to the delightful pastries she bakes. Such a cute inviting shop with an amazing staff and delicious treats all wrapped up in one place❤️❤️“

“The BEST cream filled doughnuts I have ever had. The filling itself is light and creamy with just the right amount of sweet. The texture of the doughnut was exceptionally well done as well. The peanut butter cream filled doughnut had peanut butter mixed in with the cream filling, the Nutella just has Nutella spread on top. Plenty of variety even in cream filled doughnuts. The flavor of the blueberry fritter was top 2 for a non-apple fritter. Not as heavy and crispy as I like a fritter though.Choosing from 2 cases of minimum 30 doughnut 0 do not recommend.Eating any variety of doughnut they have: 10/10 would recommend going every day for 2 weeks to try them all and enjoy favorites. I want to make another Google account to rate 5stars again⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“Update: originally posted my unfortunate experience and the owners response here was prompt and understanding. I am amending my review in light of their response because it shows that they do care for patrons and our concerns. i will not contact further because i did not post the review for some freebies but for the principle of appropriate response to customer concerns.I recommend ANY of their cupcakes because they are always on point. their cookies are big and beautifully delicious. cinnamon roll is good. iced coffee hits the spot!i’ve had the hangover sandwich, the mccrumb, waffle hash and breakfast burrito and i just find it really awesome that they feature other vegan restaurants food. that’s innovative and great for trying different options with each bakery purchase.if you love cannolis get the large otherwise the mini will do the trick!chocolate and confetti cake are a GREAT gift for any last minute parties!parking sucks but there’s nothing the business can do about it. i would do dine in more often if there was easier parking in the area because the decor is very fun. they take apple pay.Snippet of my original review:i buy here very often. i buy cakes for birthdays, uber eats for delivery and do pick up.for the first time, i had an issue and i told an employee and their response was indifferent. […] my solution: use the BOGO on uber eats when selling treats that their quality might not be up to par with usual standard and take customers concerns seriously.Vegetarian options: all vegan!!!Parking: parking is the worst. i would go there more often if parking was accessible.“

“I lived in Seattle for almost two decades and will admit to being a bit of a coffee shop snob. The Nook hits so many of my high points. Extremely good locally roasted coffee (in-house!). Amazing baked goods. The cocoa coffee bread must be tried, but leave me a slice! Great staff. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'll journey to the Nook for a great cup and bite.“
“I had an amazing trip to Philadelphia for the first time. To end the trip I decided to have dessert at Sweer T's bakery. The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. I'm sure the rest of the desserts are also amazing. If you are in the Philadelphia area, you must give this place a try.“
“I was very confused when I 1st walked in what looked like an office building only to find Darnel's tucked away in the corner. What a pleasant surprise this place was. I came across them after they were on Good Morning America in a national competition for best breakfast sandwich. That's all I needed to hear to try it and I definitely wasn't disappointed. As you can see I couldn't even wait to bite into it before taking a pic! They even give you the option to order biscuits separately which I've don't on many occasions. MUST TRY!“

“I’m obsessed! Found this bakery on too good to go & took a ride over (from jersey) I came home with 4 different flavors of the banana pudding & my 16 year old and I tried each one. I can’t even pick a favorite because they are all so good. The Magic flavor name makes complete sense when you take a bite because different flavors seem to magically appear in your mouth (peanut butter being the last to hit…) hard to explain but if you taste it, it will make sense! I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Driving in Philly stresses me out but I’ve never wanted to drive back over there so bad! For more pudding! I will be recommending this bake shop to everyone! The guy behind the counter was super nice & welcoming and helped me pick out some favorites. It’s a nice Friendly shop with amazing puddings & I will definitely be back!“

As we walked through the streets, we were looking for some coffee and small breakfast... NON STARBUCKS. We love supporting local businesses no matter where we are at. We ran into this place and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it! The atmosphere was great! The people were amazing! Everybody was friendly! Even being from out of town we felt very welcomed, and like this could be our Neighborhood coffee place! Wish you were down here! “What we ordered: Baker’s Basket, Continental Breakfast, French Omelet, and a hot latte.I’d recommend the Continental Breakfast if you’re indecisive or if you want a variety in one order, which was fun for me to try. I love the croissants here because they are not too flaky yet still buttery and fresh. However, the scone was too dry for my liking, and the toasted brioche was okay. It was a fun breakfast for us with friendly service.Be mindful of the parking as well, because you’ll need to parallel park and pay for the time you’re there. If you’re even a couple of minutes late, you may end up with a ticket, which was a painful experience for us.“

“The man working behind the counter today was a KING. My friend and I stopped by for the first time and it was really close to closing. I was expecting to just kinda get in, fuel my sugar addiction, and leave. But this guy was LITERALLY. SO. NICE. We had a great conversation with him, and he was even kind enough to offer us two donuts and some cookies on the house. Not only that but those along with everything else we got tasted absolutely immaculateeee 10/10“

“Really surprised by their bagels!!! They are amazing. It’s kinda hard to eat the egg sandwiches but if you don’t mind a little mess go for it. Cookies were amazing as well- Banana Oat Chip. Gotta wait outside for your food, but not that bad unless it’s busy and cold.“
“We couldn't be happier with how our wedding cake turned out. We loved how it looked and how it tasted. My wife and I had placed the order a month earlier for our Chinese banquet. We gave Bread Top a picture of what we wanted, something simple and clean and they said no problem, they can do it. We told them when we needed the cake and placed the order. Their price was the best out of the asian bakeries in the area even with delivery included. On the day of, a gentleman dropped off the cake to our reception. He was very quick and I almost missed him but managed to call out to give him a red envelope tip. We received many compliments on the cake, it truly was beautiful and delicious. Our guests appreciated how fluffy the sponge cake was in addition to how light and not overly sweet the whipped cream was. They also appreciated the extra layer of jam we added. Again, we are more than pleased with the service we received from Bread Top House.“

“These cannolis are legendary for a reason!!! Such a crispy shell with decadent filling. For my first time I tried one each of the ricotta and the marscapone, and they were similar but I liked the marscapone better! It felt a little more substantial and creamy. The ricotta cannolis are $6 each and the marscapone ones are $7 each. I also tried one of the almond cookies and it was soooo good. Not too sweet and a really great texture. Their ricotta cookies are also extremely popular and are so soft and melt in your mouth. Next time I come I definitely want to try more of their cookies! Tips: make sure you grab a number when you get inside! They call up customers by number to order. I also noticed you can either order cookies by number or by weight and they'll put them all in a box and weigh them for you. Come early in the day as the line does get longer in the afternoon! I went once on a Saturday at around 11:30 and only had a few people in front of me, but I came again on another Saturday at around 2:30 and waited about 30 minutes with a line out the door! My game plan is usually Angelo's then isgro's for dessert. Can't go wrong.“
“Ursa bread is fantastic. Since the pandemic when we were incredibly lucky to have this bread delivered to our door to now it has been consistently wonderful bread baked with love. “Our experience with the sonho was thoroughly delightful. The sourdough donut provided a perfect base—neither too sweet nor overpowering—which elegantly complemented the richer sweetness of the ganache. The custard center was killer, and its subtlety in sweetness allowed the depth of flavors to shine through without being overshadowed by too much sugar. This careful balance of ingredients made for an exceptional overall flavor profile that we greatly appreciated. We're eager to return and explore more of their offerings!“

“This place blows a Wawa pretzel out of the water. We happened to be in the area, and my wife wanted a soft pretzel, so we looked Yelp and found Bernie's. The pretzels were hot, soft and fresh. We live 100+ miles away in Maryland, but my wife has an office 9 miles away. When she is in the office and coming home, she has volunteered to stop in and pick up pretzels. A great find! Thank you Yelp.“
