“We worked with Joe to put together a tea reception after our wedding ceremony, and we couldn't have been happier! The pastries themselves were so delicious and very pretty (my personal favourites were the mini-cupcakes). And, Joe was a pleasure to work with, very communicative and upfront. We had to switch things up last minute from having the food out on display to having it packaged and handed out, and Joe and his team did a fantastic job pivoting, even coming up with a cute little QR code sticker with the menu for each box. We'll definitely be going back again.“

“I’m obsessed! Found this bakery on too good to go & took a ride over (from jersey) I came home with 4 different flavors of the banana pudding & my 16 year old and I tried each one. I can’t even pick a favorite because they are all so good. The Magic flavor name makes complete sense when you take a bite because different flavors seem to magically appear in your mouth (peanut butter being the last to hit…) hard to explain but if you taste it, it will make sense! I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Driving in Philly stresses me out but I’ve never wanted to drive back over there so bad! For more pudding! I will be recommending this bake shop to everyone! The guy behind the counter was super nice & welcoming and helped me pick out some favorites. It’s a nice Friendly shop with amazing puddings & I will definitely be back!“

“I'm honestly disappointed in myself for not having come here sooner. The brunch menu is simple: some breakfast options like quiche, scrambled eggs, avocado toast, breakfast sandwich. Then some solid sandwich options, in addition.
We went with the apple & cheddar baguette with turkey. Delicious. The bread was super crunchy and the mustard was such a nice complement to the apples and meat. Also got the tozzino. Not usually a huge focaccia fan, but this was quite nice and the soppresatta was great. Always going to love burrata and this was done well. Finally, grabbed a tomato bread with cheese which was like a mini pizza and excellent-the crust was delectable.
Grabbed some of the pastries to go, all of which looked amazing. We came at a good point as we were able to snag a table but I can see it being difficult when it gets busy. Line moves quickly and the service is fast.
Would definitely come back. Wish I had tried the soup on the cold day we went so will likely be going with that next time.“

“Best filled croissant I've ever had and the drip coffee was perfect.
Update: I can't stop thinking about that hazelnut croissant. If I take a trip back to Philly it will be just for this croissant. For the love of pastry, if you have not been here you must go.“

“Recently discovered a dairy allergy and it has been very hard. This place makes it so much easier! Great latte, the salted caramel syrup was amazing. Ate a little donut and a cinnamon roll (that were both delicious) and took some other stuff home to try later. Can't wait to come back!“

“I got an egg tart and a milk bun which I had never had before and was pleasantly surprised. The prices are super fair at $2 a piece but they only take cash or Venmo. They have a bug selection of Chinese pastries and also serve bubble teas. There isn’t a lot of seating so definitely plan to grab and go.“

“My sweetheart and I went here on our second date. The original plan was to meet at Dead King Bread in Manyunk, and then hike in the Wissahickon. Dead King was closed, however, and my sweetheart quickly suggested Roma Cafe as an alternative. I'm ashamed to say that I never knew about this bakery. When I think of Italian bakeries, I typically think of South Philly. This is the real deal. An interior that harkens back to earlier times, and probably owners that harken back to an earlier time!
It was here that I discovered that my sweetheart is extravagant with treats, especially sweets. As a bit of a minimalst, I chose a rather bland biscuit. He chose an array of half a dozen treats, including canolies.
When we eventually made our way to the Wissahickon, we discovered that we had each packed more treats for the hike - cheese, grapes. He brought the most wonderful brie from Trader Joes that was as soft and gooey as if you had baked it in the oven. I noted with approval that he was equipped with a good picnic bag, as was I.
As we walked through the Wissahickon, I was captivated by his friendliness to everyone we passed on the trails, including the dogs.
Everything was delicious, and I appreciated that the canolis were petite in size!“

“Writing a review to say that this place has probably the best cake I've ever had: we got a taro cake yesterday and I've never seen our family almost eat an entire cake in one day-- two amazing portions/layers of taro filling and icing on top and in between layers. The icing is so good, it's not your usual store-bought icing: the perfect amount of vanilla and sugar. Will absolutely be back to try their other cakes as well as their breads/pastries. Service is friendly too, I made sure to tip. Thank you!“

“The absolute best bagels. I lived in NYC for a decade and would sometimes bring bagels back from Vanilya because they beat almost any bagel there. When I moved to Philly, these bagels were a top 5 reason. Especially recommend the za’atar bagel but they’re all fantastic and fresh. Thank you, Vanilya!!“

“Visited this establishment for the first time and I LOVE IT. My granddaughter daughter talked about Mochi donuts ? and booba teas.. we got so much, from donuts, smooties to hot cheeto corn dogs.. everything was delicious. Not to mention, my daughter left her purse there early in the day (yes we we twice in 1 day ??♀️) and we didn't know it. Customer service was excellent. Atmosphere is very welcoming. Also love the art work on the wall.“

“Isgro is sensational. A true old-school and family-owned Italian bakery that offers so many different cookies, pastries, cakes, and (of course) cannoli. Both the classic ricotta and mascarpone are delicious. The shells have a perfectly golden-brown and flaky crust with a satisfying crunch. You'll be hard-pressed to find better in Philly.
The service here is always very inviting and welcoming. When my partner and I came here to put together a box of cookies for a Christmas gift, the owners served free champagne and treats to everyone in line: thanking us for our patronage.
You'll have to be patient during peak hours, but their ticketing system ensures that the line moves as efficiently as possible. It's a mainstay of the Italian Market and a must to try at least once!“

“Stopped by the Swedesboro location for the first time today. I showed up 10 minutes after they opened and there were only a few cupcakes left. Basically sold out within 15 minutes of opening. That’s how you know they’re good! I got a Lucky Charm cupcake and a chocolate cupcake. But those weren’t all I went for… I got an assortment of 12 macarons. So far I have only tried 1- the blood orange. It was fantastic! The staff member working was very kind & helpful. I cannot wait to go back. If you are to go make sure you go early. Get there before they open or within a half hour of them opening. Their products go fast! It was well worth the trip. I look forward to visiting again soon!“

“Ursa bread is fantastic. Since the pandemic when we were incredibly lucky to have this bread delivered to our door to now it has been consistently wonderful bread baked with love. I go to the farmers markets specifically for this bread. Philadelphia has a number of great new small bakeries but Ursa is at the top!“

“got a 6-pack, first time trying (had a gift card). i'd say it's worth the money if you're getting one cookie as a snack, or you're getting a pack for a sizeable group of people to share. both my wife and i tapped out after eating 1 cookie (chocolate chip - delicious), when at insomnia we'd usually eat 2-3 each for a dessert. if you don't like thicker cookies, these are not for you - though it has a cookie texture, they're almost like mini cakes. but again, if you're looking for a more filling cookie, i'd pay the extra $1 to get it over insomnia's.“

“This is classic South Philly - big ol oven built into the wall , multi generation family operation , such a cool spot. I went for my first time and the owner Steve could tell I was into bread and pizza and history and stuff and invited me back to check out how he bakes everything and showed me all the old machines, the mixer, the dough separator. I haven’t had an experience like this visiting a food establishment in ages . The pride and labor of love Steve has for this are evident in all he does. His colleague Albin was awesome too! Best tasting tomato pie I’ve ever had.“

“Oh my goodness! We are from out of town and this bakery is just one block away from our Airbnb. Stopped by today and got the cheesesteak with sauce and onions, and the buffalo chicken cheesesteak just to try it out. It was absolutely delicious! We have one more day in Philadelphia and will be going by first thing tomorrow morning for a couple more before we leave. If you have not tried them out, you need to make it a priority. So so good!“

“Actually 4.5 though it's really good and authentic. All the Hong Kong/Cantonese classics done well and fresh every morning including the bbq pork bun, cocktail bun, pineapple bun, and custard tart. The exception was the sesame ball that appeared good size but was mostly dough when more sweet bean paste filling is expected.“
