“Chef Tan Chinese Restaurant is situated at Danor Plaza, near Maple Avenue in Vienna, VA, serving authentic and flavorful Hunan cuisine with well-balanced flavors. Its exterior is modest, but the interior offers a spacious, modern ambiance with friendly service. The restaurant boasts a diverse menu and generous portions. I appreciate discovering a Chinese eatery that serves traditional dishes, avoiding westernized or Americanized variants that tend to be overly sweet.
Some dishes we loved and highly recommend:
1. Steamed pork dumplings, truly homemade with authentic flavor.
2. Pressure-cooked pork belly: tender, juicy, and mildly spicy.
3. Iron plate Mongolian beef: similar to Korean bulgogi but less sweet and saucy—very good!
4. General Tso’s chicken: a classic dish with chicken balls in a subtly sweet and mildly spicy sauce.
5. Pumpkin seafood tofu soup: sizable enough to share, with balanced flavors from pumpkin and seafood that weren’t overpowering
6. Fried rice: among the best in Northern Virginia, with a deep, savory flavor from stir-fried onions.“

“The dishes are even cleaner tasting and less salty than before, and we love the new chicken wonton soup. The chefs have creatively used spices and ground halal meat to recreate pork dishes. Great for those who eat halal but also for those who don't want to feel bloated after a Chinese meal. We loved the chicken broccoli and moo shoo and will be ordering again for this healthier take on American Chinese food.“

“Having been to a few other Chinese restaurants in the area, this blows them out of the water! The food is authentic as you can get, especially how you can see the chef making the noodles fresh. The meal was crafted with love, and I definitely will be coming back here a lot!“

“I was not familiar with this place but my family was craving for real Chinese food! I checked good places near and decided to try China Express. To be honest when I parked in the front I was skeptical but follow my willingness to discover new places but when I got in and received by a very kind staff and felt the yummy smell from the kitchen I thought it was going to be good! I ordered fried rice, noodle soup, general tso chicken and some house lo mein, it was extremely delicious! Food quality is top and service was simply amazing! This is a hidden gem in Tysons and definitely will come back! Superb!“

“My sister and I really enjoyed the calamari, cucumber salad, braised beef and noodle soup and garlic green beans. I rate those 5 stars. We also ordered the ugly dumplings sampler, I rate this zero star and it a waste of money. Now the service was excellent! Our server Abel took his time explaining the menu since it's our first visit. He was always smiling, courteous and respectful.“

“Fantastic lunch experience at P.F. Chang’s – Tyson Corner!
The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was fresh and full of flavor, and the dessert was just as impressive. What really made our visit special was our server, Will. He was exceptional – friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient. Service was quick, portions were generous, and Will even packed our leftovers with great care. Truly a memorable lunch. Highly recommend!“

“We had an amazing server, Natalie, who took great care of us, answering questions and making delicious recommendations! Natalie provided excellent service, was friendly and kind as well as patient with our numerous requests. She kept smiling and serving us delicious food! We were very impressed with her, and as it's been a while since we have dined at PF Chang's, we look forward to returning and requesting her table! The manager also came by to make sure all needs were met and we were pleased to let him know of our excellent experience.“

“I had Beef With Vegetables in Peppery Broth, Schezwan dish. They have full non-schezwan Chinese dishes as well. It’s was spicy and went great with rice. Food came out really fast, about 5 minutes. Beats fast food when in a hurry. It’s one of those local restaurants that never quite picked back up after COVID, was happy to support a local business.“

“First time trying them, got orange chicken lunch special and a BBQ spareribs appetizer. Oh man, was it fantastic and hit the spot. The spareribs were delicious, the orange chicken was still hot when I got back to my work, everything tasted great, good portions, good price, I will definitely be back for more!!
I ordered from parking spot at my work and I got the alert the food was ready for pickup right when I parked at the restaurant. Outstanding.“

“We ordered Chicken Lo Mein and General Tso’s. Both were so good! The Lo Mein was fresh and the Tso’s was extra crispy and super flavorful. The people who served us were very kind and welcoming. They even gave us an order of spring rolls on the house. It was a great meal with great service and we will be back. Thank you Great Wall!“

“Nice menu for “fast casual” with some flair. The fresh ginger and red chili oil are nice condiments for the noodles. Loved Thai iced tea. So much more I’d like to try.“

“I love Yu Noodles. Their noodle bowls are so good — simple, flavorful, and the portions are huge. Last time I got the seafood noodle bowl and it totally hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh and comforting.
It’s a clean, casual place — not fancy or romantic, but definitely the kind of spot you go to when you just want a really good meal without paying too much. The staff are super friendly, and the service is always quick.
The menu can be a little confusing at first, but they have some pictures to help, and honestly, everything I’ve tried has been delicious. It’s just one of those reliable, yummy places you keep coming back to. I usually end up going there when I get a massage at the place next-door (Relax rite), I just make an authentic Chinese evening out of the whole experience.“

“Would love to give 10 stars for service! We ordered for wife who’s pregnant shortly before closing and we were running late to pick it up. One of the staff members stayed 20 minutes past closing to make sure we got our food. Seriously, a deep and sincere thank you to the staff at Hunan for waiting for us when they could have very denied our order all together. Thank you thank you thank you!!“

“Nice Cafe, good flavor Chinese food .. but they use Styrofoam for takeout. UGH.. which means all the sauce spills into bottom of the bag. NOT GOOD.“

“We ordered the pan-fried noodle and triple delight. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Service was excellent and we plan to make this a regular stop for dinner. The portions were very generous. I should have taken a picture but by the time I thought of it my dish was half empty. Next time.“

“A&J was a delicious find! The food was amazing and hit the spot. Small dining area, but perfect for taking out. Parking is a little rough- the lot itself is falling apart and full of massive holes. Parking can be tight.“

“My wife’s and my first time here. I had the biang biang noodles thanks to several other positive reviews. I am adding to those reviews. The noodles were delicious and worth making repeat visits. My wife had wontons in chicken soup. She also enjoyed her dish. We both tried the other’s dish and enjoyed them. For desert we had fried mochi. The outside tasted somewhat like a donut. The inside was something sweet. They were quite good.
The place was very busy with most customers picking up their meals and leaving. There are five 4 person tables and three 2 person tables. The Chinese woman running the counter was very friendly and spoke both fluent English and Chinese. The dining and bathroom areas were clean and well maintained.
We will definitely be back.
Wheelchair accessibility: Close to large parking lot. Sidewalk in front has a ramp. Entrance appears to be standard 36” width.“

“Wow! We just discovered this amazing place, and I have to give it a solid 10/10! My husband and I decided to grab some carryout for a quick dinner, and we were thrilled with the generous portions. The seasoning was absolutely spot on! It’s hands down the best Chinese food around! We’ll definitely be recommending it and can’t wait to come back for more delicious meals!“

“We enjoy Peter Chang’s in McLean. Food is always delicious and of high quality, some entrees can be on the oily side but you can ask for use of less oil during preparation. Service is great and ambience is quite nice. Sizzling pepper chicken, dragon eggplant, tofu with bok choy, dumplings and noodles are some of our favs. I would recommend dining in over carry out for optimal experience.“

“After living in Countryside for over 40 years we never found this gem. Long time patrons of Cheng’s & Good Fortune restaurants we have tried many other local Chinese restaurants with no real luck. Found China Goirmet on a whim search and it exceeded our expectations!! The potstickers were tender, flavorful and mouth watering! The moo shi pork and the crispy crunchy beef were over the top wonderful! The prices were very reasonable and they even had bar service with extremely reasonable prices. Service was extremely attentive without being over bearing. We can’t wait to come back and try something different!! Well done!!!“

“This is a great little take away restaurant. I think there may be a table or two inside but I wouldn't want to dine there. The food is good and the prices are competitive for the area. It's a solid choice for Chinese food to take away.“

The spring rolls are great. I usually get that move guy pan which is my number one favorite my daughters and mother-in-law. They usually get the chef special and make like a seafood special and is always the best.“

“This place is incredible. I am not aware of any other luosifen noodle house in the area. If you, like me, are a newcomer to this style of noodle soup, you are going to be extremely impressed. The bone broth is bracing, complex, and flavorful, far richer and deeper than pho or tonkotsu. Recommend getting it spicy: it brings all the flavors together without being overwhelming. Additionally, the Sichuan menu is one of the best in the area, second only to Mama Chang's and Hong Kong Palace. This place is pretty new and trying to get its feet underneath it. Let's support high quality food!“

“This is our go-to Chinese takeout spot! Food is usually ready in 10-15 minutes. I'd recommend the moo shu chicken, Szechuan string beans, pan fried pork dumplings, and the lo mein.
Parking is available behind the restaurant, and it's easier to get in/out if you come in that way.“

“It took me 8 years to find a great Chinese restaurant and this is it! I order from here almost weekly now. The best part about the food is you can select the spicy level of many of the dishes, and I love it spicy! I’m talking REAL spicy - not weak American-standard spicy, and they deliver. Fire in my mouth, runny nose, and tears spicy. I love it!“

“Finally, decent Chinese food in Burke. Recently discovered this gem and we have not been disappointed after several orders. Food is delicious and arrives hot. Their sweet and sour chicken is amazing, as is their fried rice and black bean beef. Don't forget to include sugar Donuts for a sweet treat.“

“The vegetable egg foo young was absolutely delicious, and I really appreciated the option of brown rice — something you don’t often find at many Chinese restaurants. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff showed real professionalism throughout the meal. Overall, a great dining experience that I’d gladly recommend.“
“Grab & Go type restaurant inside Fresh World (Asian & International Grocery Store) serving Chinese barbecue. Their crispy pig (heo quay) is the best in the area, perfectly crisp and seasoned. We also love the salt and pepper duck; the sauce that comes with it is to die for. They sell vietnamese desserts and bbq roast pork buns too, but these are known to sell out fast.“
“I’ve been ordering takeout from Forbidden City since 2017. The food is always ready very fast prior to my arrival for pickup and service is always friendly. I’ve ordered an array of items from the menu such as Kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, general tsos, and crispy shredded chicken/beef. Everything always tastes great. It’s the best takeout Chinese I’ve found in the area. Definitely recommend supporting this local small business!Edit: I’m seeing other reviews that say the business was sold and renamed Hunan Express. I have not ordered since the change and am sad to hear the news.“
“I had Jjajangmyeon and Tangsuyuk. It was reasonable price and both were delicious. I had low expectations since the most of Korean Chinese food in America was not good. But this one was not bad and good price. I would come back again. Hope more people come.“

“Such a wonderful hole in the wall. The lady running the register was so kind - ended up giving me a free soda out of the kindness of her heart and kindly retrieving me from outside when my food was ready for pickup. Their General Tso’s was perfect even after eating it after getting home.
A small and very clean operation with really good food and service. Will be coming back many times, again, in the future! Do not miss out on this place!“
