“I came for a late lunch with a friend on a Sunday. I think price is really reasonable for the amount of food we received. I had to pack some home. Service was very friendly and food tasted really fresh. I really enjoyed the angry bird roll and will order next time! The staff came by at least 5 times to fill our tea which is wonderful. P.s. I took the photo mid way eating.“

“Probably the best casual sushi place this side of town, the waitress is excellent, don't need them to be chatty but the smile did go a long way. Sushis are always good, although we would like the seaweed to be a bit more crunchy but really that's just nitpicking.“

“Sushi S is a great find. The food is delicious: the deluxe sushi combo was fresh, and the chicken yakisoba was flavorful. The vibe is chill, and the service is quick. It feels like a perfect, cozy spot for a good Japanese meal, and it’s a nice alternative when the neighbor's line is crazy“

“Tried the Alaska Roll, Red Dragon Roll (spicy), plus the California Roll and Dynamite Roll. All were delicious. Staff were helpful and food was ready in short order. Not a lot of seats here, but it was quiet after 8pm and they do take-out. Definitely recommend it to others.
Dietary restrictions: Most of the maki rolls are gluten free.“

“We ate here after a hike, and I got to say this sushi place is outstanding! We had Dynamite roll, Salmon nigiri, Unagi nigiri, Kilala House roll, Salmon maki and Tamago nigiri. The dynamite roll and the salmon nigiri was alright, but the unagi nigiri and Tamago nigiri were the best. Unagi nigiri melted in my mouth and the Tamago nigiri was so sweet and tasty. I would recommend unagi nigiri.“

“We visited to this hidden gem.
We had an amazing time. The food was amazing! We especially loved Salmon steak spaghetti and assorted Sashimi.
And we came back to here right next day to try some rolls, it didn’t disappointed us ?
Wish we had found it sooner.“

“Simply the best Japanese restaurant in greater Vancouver. Been here for a few years and always deeply satisfied. Cozy ambience and attentive service. Tried a new dessert tonight—the miso caramel cheesecake was such a delight!“

“Hidden gem in Burnaby North, best Japanese/Korean venue on Hastings in Burnaby. Definitely the best tempuras in Lower Mainland that I've ever eaten; light and crispy thin batter, not greasy at all. Restaurant overall cleanliness well maintained, convenient parking, exceptionally pleasant and attentive staff. Highly recommended for anyone wishing a happy meal with friends or families for reasonable pricing for similar venues in area.“

“I recently visited Green Leaf Sushi and had a pretty decent experience overall. The service stood out as very good—staff were attentive and friendly, which added a nice touch to the meal. The décor, on the other hand, felt a little “so-so,” nothing bad but nothing particularly memorable either.
In terms of food, I tried several dishes: the seaweed salad, beef teriyaki don, wild salmon sashimi, and agedashi tofu. The sashimi was fresh and enjoyable, and the beef teriyaki don was hearty, though fairly standard. The agedashi tofu was crisp and pleasant, and the seaweed salad was refreshing. Everything was solid, though not mind-blowing.
Overall, I’d say it was an **okay experience**—not bad at all, but not exceptional either. Prices are definitely on the higher side, which makes the value feel a bit stretched given the quality and atmosphere.
Would recommend if you’re in the area and don’t mind paying a little extra for good service and decent sushi.“

“I’ve been to Makoto many times over the years and it’s amazing how the owner’s been able to keep prices affordable despite the rise in cost of living in the city. His lunch specials are still an amazing deal with a variety of options to choose from - any 2 for $15. Bento boxes at $20-24 is amazing value for an authentic Japanese restaurant.
The most amazing part of Makoto is the fact that the owner manages both the sushi bar and all of the front of house efforts as a one-man show. And he does it with a smile on his face and is kind to all his guests.
A great authentic and affordable gem in South Burnaby!“

“This is the place where I tried my first ever sushi helping. I like the Salmon Tempura Roll but the California Roll is what I also like to have.
Great selection and great prices, I only wish the place had a seating section.“

“Ordered via DOOR DASH:
I was concerned that I wouldn't get enough wasabi cuz another sushi place combined 4 sushi roll orders into one take out container but only gave me one blob of wasabi and ginger. So I made sure to order for "2" people when i order sushi so this does not happen
KIKU give huge wasabi blob one was enough for the meal. Gave lots of soy sauce (8 packets) plenty of napkins.
Very big thick slices of sashimi Assorted Sashimi ( 18 pcs) I was very worried as another place gave me thin tiny pieces I was hungry afterwards. KIKU gives big slices (if you chop the sashimi in half, stack it, your bite of food is size of fancy mega sushi rolls) very fresh (not fishy) arrived nice and cold, nicely displayed in take out box (sorry too hungry to take photo of take out containers) Spicy Salmon Roll was amazing and little larger bite than most spicy rolls I was happy and stuffed. $54 including tax.“

“Wow, we are so happy to finally find a quality sushi place in Burnaby! Everything was wonderful. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented.
The agadashi tofu, on particular, was unique (very lightly battered with awesome sauce).
Light music added to the nice ambiance 🙂“

“Excellent sushi with fresh ingredients from Japan! Really enjoyed the Hokkaido Uni and Hokkaido Hotate specials of the day. Service was also quick despite Friday night being busy and packed. Thankfully I made a reservation by emailing the restaurant the night prior. Will be back in no time!“

“I came here for Japanese food and it's really good , I don't really have any complaints at all.
-The mango Tango roll was like so amazing they had more than enough toppings and the flavor was like nothing I have had before
-the takoyaki was pretty good , I loved how the outside had a crispy shell , encasing the gooey inside. It was a tad pricy for how much we got though.
-the cherry blossoms roll was pretty good I loved how tangy and sweet it was.
-The veggie udon was solid , noodles had good texture , soup could use more flavor.
- the wasabi mayo prawn was alright , the sauce only tasted sweet and there wasent enough flavor so I had trouble finishing it.
Service was good , I will probably come back especially for that mango Tango roll.“
