“The best spicy Chinese Food in OC/LA area hands down! They have been Michelin recommended for a reason. Their food has lots of depth of umami flavors with a good amount of spice with a refined touch. Their none spicy broths are especially good too. My faves are their dry pots, toothpick lambs, Qiao Jiao Beef. We also like their spicy ribs and boiled fish in chilli sauce, and Mao cai. Service is great too!”

“I came here for a quick meal and was seriously impressed. The food tastes authentic, portions are generous, and everything was cooked with care.

I ordered the beef noodle soup and the braised pork elbow rice plate, and both dishes were excellent.

🍜 Beef Noodle Soup:
The broth was rich and flavorful with that classic Taiwanese depth. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the beef chunks were tender and juicy. Definitely one of the better beef noodle soups I’ve had in the area.

🍖 Braised Pork Elbow Rice Plate:
The pork elbow was incredibly tender and full of flavor—melt-in-your-mouth and perfectly braised. The plate came with cabbage, pickled veggies, a marinated egg, and a big serving of rice. Everything paired together really well, and the seasoning was on point.

The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the food came out fast. If you’re craving Taiwanese comfort food, this spot is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!”

“I ordered from Uber Eats, and oh my goodness! Food was fresh, still hot. The steak was tender, well marinated and so delicious. Hummus and pita bread…yummy! They even thought out every detail, making sure utensils and a little baggie with garlic sauce, hot peppers, hot sauce and sumac seasoning was included. Definitely 10 out of 10, thank you! I would have posted a photo, but my food didn’t stand a chance 😋”

“I’ve come here many times—it’s one of my favorite restaurants. The beef noodle soup is my go-to, but honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite because everything is delicious.

Highly recommend the dumplings—they’re handmade, and you can even buy them frozen at a great price. The server reminds me of my aunties, and the food tastes like grandma made it. It’s like a cozy Sunday at mom’s, and she just brought out the menudo.

I also love that the music stays true to the culture. They play Mandarin songs, not some watered-down English playlist. It makes the whole experience feel authentic—like I’ve been invited into someone’s home. I’m always happy here. 🥰”

“Absolutely amazing. After a disappoint go at the Mancoras peruivian cuisine on main, I found this place in walking distance. Gave it a shot and the chicken is amazing. The #1 recommendation is have is the #1 Chicken sandwich (white or dark meat) it's by far the best chicken sandwich I've had. Easily blowing Raising Canes and all other chicken sandwich establishments out of the park. The balance between each ingredient was spot on and I could easily devour multiple of these in one sitting due to how good it is. 100% recommend this place.

Side note, for any people planning to eat here. Order ahead of time (sometimes it can take 30+ minutes) and avoid the wraps, go for the chicken on the bun instead. It's vastly superior because the wraps seem to be poorly constructed. The wraps seem to be overflowing with sauce which makes the wrap soft and weak so its, hard to hold let alone eat, without it breaking apart in your hands”

“This isn't the Taiwanese 永和豆浆 Yong He Dou Jiang you might be expecting. This spot offers a broad menu of various Chinese cuisines. I just tried 豆皮 bean curd （cuisine from Hubei) for the first time. It was an interesting dish with a bean curd and egg mix topping over sticky rice, meat, tiny shrimp, and cilantro. I like the bean curd and egg mixture and want to try my hand at making it at home. 👍”

The night manager is cool and when he gets on the stove his food is out of this world! They got a new cook a few months ago and they are great with consistently producing comfort, especially the fries (and I'm VERY picky about my fry consistency).”

Food is so good that I forgot to take all the pics. This place is ran by a strong single woman of color who cooks, cleans, and manages everything all by herself. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. “I’ve always passed by here but never tried it. So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. I got their spring rolls, takoyaki, and popcorn chicken ramen to try. The spring rolls were interestingly cut but very good. Crispy shell with savory veggie filling. Also came with a side of soy sauce for dipping. The takoyaki were crisp with a gooey center, topped with like a sweet mayo, and had a tender not too fish piece of octopus in the middle. The popcorn chicken ramen came with a BUNCH of MASSIVE pieces of crispy, juicy, savory chicken. Like can u even call this popcorn chicken still if they’re this big? Surprisingly paired well with the ramen which also came with came with green onions and pickled ginger, that helped add a brightness to the bowl and wood ear mushrooms, and half an egg. The broth was really savory but not super rich and oily which my sensitive tummy appreciated. The noodles also surprisingly stayed pretty chewy while I was eating them even tho they were soaking up the broth. This place is pretty good.”

Food came within 10 to 15 minutes and everything was very hot and fresh. The meat pies were really hot and filled with yummy juices. The scallion pancakes were very very yummy. I highly recommend getting the cucumbers. Service was decent but don't be expecting conversations from these ladies. They bring you your food and that's about it. “I found Monte’s in Alhambra just poking around for something to eat one day. I live pretty close and had no idea it was there. Walked in, looked at the menu, and immediately knew this was my kind of place. Alexis runs the show here, and he and the rest of the crew are great, friendly, fast, and you can tell they actually care about the food. Everything on the menu looks solid, but I went with the first sandwich on the hot list the Legendary Chopped Cheese. It did not disappoint. Great flavor, perfect portion, and for about thirteen bucks, it’s a very fair price. The sandwich-to-price ratio is a strong 8½ out of 10 for me. The inside of the sandwich was fantastic, melty, flavorful, just messy enough to be satisfying. The bread was soft, which isn’t a bad thing, but personally, I would’ve liked it a touch crunchier to give it more texture. Still, the bread did its job and held everything together just fine.
Parking’s super easy. It’s in a little strip mall with a ramen spot and a few other restaurants. You can pop right in and out. I think it’s off the Fremont exit on the freeway. The location couldn’t be better for a quick, easy meal. Everything about this place feels right: great food, solid pricing, easy parking, and good people running it. Every sandwich I saw go by looked worth ordering, and I’ve already got my eye on the chicken and waffles, which seems to be one of their signature dishes. Monte’s is one of those hidden gems that feels like it should already be packed all the time. I’ll definitely be back, probably more than once to work my way down that menu.”

“Came on an early Saturday morning. We probably came before the rush. It was not busy at all. The food was good. The food thing is that they have orders for 4 pieces of boa and pot stickers at a lower price. The jelly fish was crunchy.”

“I’ve been coming here to get their double matcha and the few times I’ve gotten it, it was nice and rich. The matcha itself is not very sweet but the matcha cream is sweetened so it’s a nice combination! Only once I got their double matcha and the matcha drink itself felt slightly watered down, and not as strong as its usual taste. Definitely my fave place to come for their double matcha.”

“I love this place! My boyfriend and I were getting boba and the smell is what brought us in! Thank god for that smell of their amazing red oil looking sauce they give with meat. The workers were so kind and helped us! I used a translator to help us communicate and he gave us everything we hoped to try. It was soooooo good! We have loved every single item we have tried!”

They tasted funny and texture was not normal. The breakfast potatoes lacked seasoning and veggies were not fully cooked, but can be fixed.”

“We came through on a Sunday night for a late dinner after coming back from LAX and found this place as one of the only things open late. The place had a nice vibe to it as there were lots of lights and the music was bumpin’. It seemed like it would be a cool date night spot. Since it was late on a Sunday night, the place was pretty dead, and therefore, we had the entire place to ourselves. Overall it was a superb Chinese barbecue experience. The food was great, particularly the noodle dish and the chicken rack. The flavors were top notch. Everything had an aroma as if they just came out of the smoker which is a bit different than other Chinese bbq places. Even though there was only one staff person on site it seemed, she was attentive to our needs and food came out relatively quickly. We spotted some terrible reviews on Yelp for this spot, but we didn’t find anything wrong. I’d definitely come back to try out the other items and order another chicken rack.”
