“Mensho Tokyo SF truly lives up to its reputation and Michelin Star status. While we waited in line, it was interesting to see that most patrons were first-timers, creating a sense of shared anticipation.
One standout feature was their selection of unique Japanese beers, which offered a refreshing change from the usual options. The ramen itself was exceptional; the noodles had the perfect firmness, while the broth struck an ideal balance—not too overpowering but incredibly flavorful. Each bite was a delightful experience, showcasing a harmonious blend of tastes and textures.
I wholeheartedly recommend Mensho Tokyo SF to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t wait to share this gem with my friends in the future!“

“The soba is a traditional dish passed along by its caretaker where every proprietor keeps the traditions as strict as possible without tainted biased towards one technique or another ingredient. This truer the product is to the labor and ingredients the more authentic the quality is. We as customers and consumers are just passersby’s to witness the current iteration as it’s peak of existence.“

“This was a good experience from the moment we walked in the restaurant. The staff made us feel like old friends being hosted by extraordinary culinary experts. Loved every bite. In descending order of wonder for me:
WOW: Dan Dan noodles
1. Chili Oil Wonton
2. Shrimps. Woodear. Chives dumpling
3. BBQ Pork buns
4. Pork Sheng Jian bao
5. Pork Xiao Long bao.
For dessert, the Coconut Pudding. It was a mystical experience that brought me back to eating fresh tender coconut from Cayo Sombrero in Venezuela.
My heart left full as well as my stomach.“

“Best Xiao Long Bao i’ve ever had in my life. The soup is flavourful without being heavy, or oily. The pork inside is generous and tender. The wrapper is clearly fresh and handmade with care. I got delivery so my expectations were low, i’ll be honest but holy… these were spectacular. 5/5. I’ve had all sorts of XLB through the city of SF all the way back to the east coast, i’ve had Din Tai Fung… and this place beats them all. I’ll be ordering again this weekend for sure.“

“My boyfriend and I came in today after school to place a to-go order. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed with open arms they were quick to take our order and the food came out pretty fast. We had the Special Beef noodle soup. It was AMAZING!! the beef was so tender and so flavorful. ( I’m a picky eater so the Bok choy wasn’t my favorite but that was a easy fix but simply not eating it lol) 10/10 Will be coming here very often! ( I added a bit of hotsauce)“

“The beef shortrib is amazing!! Got the extra meat, extra beg and tteokbokki and the flavors meshed so well. The mild spice level was really nice with some light heat, but still had all the flavor. The melty cheese on top was fire (literally) and obviously the soju went great with all the flavors. I did wish they gave us more banchan or refilled our dishes, but thats just because I'm a fiend for daikon kimchi. We did have to flag down the waiters a couple times to get refills on water and for drink orders, but they were crazy busy (for good reason!). The restaurant was also super loud, so expect to shout to talk to your table. Some noise dampening in the restaurant would probably be helpful. We waited an hour for our table and i 100% would wait again.“

“The beef bone rice noodles are too spicy and difficult to swallow. The side dishes such as dried radish and shredded kelp that I used to like are no longer available. The service is very good and the porridge is delicious. There is only one kind of thin rice noodle in Hunan rice noodle, and there is no medium wide rice noodle, so there are very few choices. It would be better if it can be expanded to include chili fried pork rice noodles, rice bowls, etc. I hope the rice noodles can be spicy. The spicy rice noodles at dynasty bbq next door are delicious. I'm used to giving 5 stars but I'm very disappointed. After eating it for more than a year, the quality is getting worse and worse.“

“Gonna give it 4 stars because while the aburasoba is good I'd like them to make mazesoba too, which has more complex ingredients, preparation, and flavor. Mogomogu in Sawtelle, LA sets the benchmark for great mazesoba on the west coast.“

“Wow, really like the food. Visited this area for my wife's company event and found they have less spicier vegetarian option. After my kids loving the noodles, we ordered more . I really liked my spicy chicken noodle too. The quantity is good for the price we pay for. Definitely visit it again !!“

“This is a hole in the wall type restaurant with old school Chinese service and food. For those that don’t know what that means don’t expect five star service and atmosphere. You aren’t paying high prices here at all. You come here for the food if it’s to your taste which it is for me. Beef roll pancakes and green beans are my favorites. Cash only.“

“ok this is one of the best izakayas i’ve ever been to… the hamachi was buttery soft and melted in your mouth & the sauces were sooo perfectly paired with the proteins! the chicken skewers were moist and juicy. it was pretty pricey with 4 appetizers coming out to ~$65 with tip. pretty small place with only seating for max like a party of 4.“

“Lots of food, especially for thr price. They don't clean up tables fast though.

“Have been here a few times now and this is probably my favorite dumpling place in the city. The real star is the sheng jian bao (not sure what they call it in the english menu). This is the only place that I have that comes anything close to what it would taste like in Shanghai. The Hong Kong pan fried noodles here are also really great. I grew up eating this dish as a kid and it is still a favorite of mine as an adult. The mongolian beef here is also quite good.
The soup dumplings are good but not great. The meat is a bit bland and the proportions are a bit off. I would stay away from the scallion pancake as it isn't that great.
Food comes out fast and the prices are pretty reasonable. We spent about $20 per person.“

“Came for brunch and thought it was cute and tasty! We came here around opening time on a Saturday and there was no line and plenty of seating.
I don’t think this place will beat out a no frills place that just does brunch items well but for a fusion-y, themed brunch place I think it’s definitely one of the top ones in the city.
I got the sando Benedict and my husband got the rancheros. I definitely thought mine was the better of the two and he somewhat agreed.“

“Excellent food and service. Very nice and the food was delicious, savory, and properly spicy. The vegetarian options are also really nice and very flavorful. There’s something for everyone here!
The food is very authentic, so don’t order anything spicy if you can’t handle a lot of spice!
Vegetarian options: Cold sesame noodle, tomato egg noodles, veggie chow mien, and numerous veggie appetizers and a vegetarian section for regular dishes with tofu and veggies.“

“We stumbled upon this dumpling place and it exceeded our expectations. The menu is focused on small apps, lots of dumplings (boiled, pan fried, soup, XLB) options. We ordered cucumbers, crab puffs, boiled dumplings, XLB, pot stickers, beef noodle soup. Everything was fresh, well seasoned…it reminded us of my mom’s cooking. We didn’t finish some of our dumplings, brought them home and they tasted great even heated with a microwave.
The atmosphere was easy, unpretentious, family friendly, clean. Service was courteous and prompt. We loved our first visit and will definitely be back to try many more dishes.
They also sell frozen dumplings to cook at home!
Kid-friendliness: Casual environment, clean restaurant, clean restrooms. Kids can watch chefs make dumplings.“

“I really loved the pickled sliced beef noodle with rice noodles in the first few bites. But I made the mistake of asking for some soy sauce and black vinegar, and I didn't realize both sauces were sweetened, which killed all the nice spicy flavors. I need to re try this soup again to properly evaluate.
The biang biang lamb dry noodle was mid.“

“Solid tonkatsu with spinach added. The soft-boiled egg was a bit disappointing as it was a bit cold, but the rest was good. Interestingly, this was the first time I've had chasu that was grilled. Gotta say, it's an excellent innovation.
The service was friendly and fast, while the atmosphere was a bit sterile.“

“With its friendly atmosphere, great food, and its gracious portions Yummy Yummy is a hidden gem of SF's Sunset district. Despite not having the fame of its neighbors this family owned phó spot will always be my go to for a nice warm meal, and great company. My wife and I have been coming here for years and not once have we ever had a bad meal. Upon entering you're greeted with a smile and the lovely aroma of home-cooked Vietnamese comfort food. Monday and Tuesday they are closed but please stop by for the best Pho in the city. I always recommend the #1 ( a beef broth Pho) and the #8 ( a beef and peanut broth Pho) and if you need a pick-me-up the Vietnamese iced coffee will keep you going for hours.
If you have a peanut allergy this place is not for you.
Dietary restrictions: Not peanut allergy friendly“

“This unassuming quiet spot is one of my favorite handmade noodle places! It's great value for money and has a couple of vegan options - I usually get the chongqing street noodles for the mala numbing oomph. I love the sides too - highly recommend the potato, cucumber and mushroom fungus. Always a go to for me whenever I'm in Oakland!“

“Really loved their crabs—so much that we ordered a second one even when we were almost full! We tried both the roasted and drunken flavors, and the roasted was definitely better. The garlic noodles were also super delicious and highly recommended. Everything we had was tasty, but the price was steep—over $300 for 2ppl (2 crabs, 1 noodle, 1 eggplant stir-fry, and 3 drinks) didn’t feel worth it. Great food, but not sure if it justifies the cost.“

“My “Go to” Ramen spot when I’m in the Richmond District. Ive tried almost the entire menu..My favorite is the House Special Tonkatsu Ramen with an extra side of Ramen noodles. There’s usually little to no waiting as it seems that neighborhood customers are very considerate of one another. Service goes a long way for me. The Staff seems to remember what both my daughter and I like to order as the food comes out right away. I think this place is a great addition to the block and a good place to take a friend or a date..the atmosphere is very neutral and you are able to carry on a conversation (even when it’s crowded). If you’re in the Richmond and enjoy Ramen, this place is worth a visit.
Kid-friendliness: They have small bowls and plates for kids…window seating and long bench seating for them to enjoy.“

“great dishes. They tasted authentic Shanghai cuisines to me. The only issue was that the restaurant was highly understaffed for some reason. I could see the lady just rushing all through to get bills, place orders, and even get take-out boxes for us. Watching her at work was like watching a highly skilled “overcook” gameplay.“

“This place is a gem. The owners are sweet, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is unique and cozy.
The rice is also yummy here. Big portions, fair price.
10/10 recommend the General Tso Tofu. It’s on the sweet side comparatively, but they can make it spicier on request.“

“WenChang is a winner. I was staying a couple blocks away and stumbled upon this nondescript neighborhood eatery, and I’m so glad I did. The food and prices were great. The crispy honey sesame chicken was a treat. I’m not a big fan of sweet dishes, but this plate was loaded with nice pieces of chicken, fried to perfection with the perfect mixture of sweetness and sesame. The soup dumplings are another must-try dish—savory and juicy. The vegetable chow mein was
fresh and not overly cooked. They have two prices for many entrees: cash and credit card. So make sure to bring cash for the best prices.“

“The best bowl of pho I've ever had. They have freshly made noodles as an option and I highly recommend getting the fresh noodles. “An affordable Thai restaurant with good food and friendly service. We ordered a Cucumber Salad, Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. All three dishes were very nicely presented and very good. The Cucumber Salad was generously sprinkled with Bonito flakes, giving it a strong fish flavor. The food was very nicely presented and the restaurant is bright and clean. Access to the bathroom requires a trip through the kitchen.“

“My friend and I decided to check this place out. We tried the Braised Duck Leg with Wonton Egg Noodle and the House Special Wonton Egg Dry Noodle. The food was decent, and the homemade soybean sauce wasn’t bad, but I was really hoping for a homemade sauce for the dry noodles—since the sauce is the soul of the dish—but no luck. On the plus side, the staff were super nice and friendly, and our food came out in just 10 minutes.“

“It was cold out, the wind was coming off the bay and it was a damp wind, the kind that goes all the way down to your bones and make you think of having pot roast or a hearty stew for lunch....But no....she wants a salad....a salad, I said! A damn salad! Take this exit, she pouts out...we'll go to MoBowl and get a salad, they're the best in the area! You'll like it she said.
So when it's cold out, and you have your heart set on pot roast, and she says...it's salad! It's gotta be MoBowl.
