“Excellent omakase. We went for the 12 course lunch ($160 pp) and were not disappointed! It's not just sushi-- it's an experience. Here's everything you need to know... Reservations - you'll need them. Make them on Opentable and you will need to use a credit card as they charge if you cancel less than 72 hours in advance (trust me, you won't want to cancel this!). They overnight fish from Japan in advance so they're assuming a significant cost once the reservation is made, but you can transfer the reservation to someone else if you can't make it. Parking - plenty of street parking and the chef told us they have a small lot in the back. We didn't see that so we just parked on the street at a meter. $7.50 for three hours. Lunch takes a little over an hour and dinner takes a little over 2 hours, but it depends on how many people are there (the more, the longer) so give yourself a little cushion if you decide to meter. Service - Excellent. The moment you finish a course, there's someone there to take your plate. And there was a gentleman who explained every dish to us which was really nice as they were mostly dishes we'd never had before and some of the types of fish we'd never even heard of. Food - lunch is twelve courses, although some courses are just a single piece of sushi. Everything was meticulously prepared and delicious. My husband said it's the best sushi he's ever had. It's mostly raw but there are a few cooked/hot dishes as well (cooked fish filet with caviar in a dashi broth, egg drop soup with crab meat, and an egg custard with squid). There wasn't a single course we didn't like. The dessert for dinner is ice cream but for lunch it was a slice of Japanese melon (see my photos for portion sizes) that was better than any melon I've ever had. Beverages - I highly recommend you try the sake and the draught beer. When you order a carafe or bottle of sake (the carafe we ordered was $55), they bring out a box with unique sake glasses and you choose your own glass. It doesn't seem like much but it makes it really special. My husband ordered the Orion beer (in a bottle) which he liked, but then the server recommended he try the Japanese draught beer which he ended up getting another glass of. I'm not usually a beer fan but even I liked it. They also have hot tea (which I had in addition to the sake). Ambiance - minimalist and calming. It kind of reminded me of a spa. The lighting, the music, the decor was all very relaxing and really added to the experience. Chef - very humble and friendly. He encouraged us to ask questions (which we did!) and was so forthcoming in his answers. We learned a lot about the fish and how different chefs prepare sushi, etc. They even took a polaroid photo of us with the chef before we left. A few things to note - they open the door exactly at the reservation time so if you get there early and the door is locked, don't worry-- they're in there getting everything ready for you. They also have a restroom for customers so don't think you have to use the public ones (like you do with several establishments in Laguna). The lunch and dinner times are exact and you really do need to be on time. A couple in our group was late and they sort of had to rush through the first three courses to catch up.“

“Fabulous! This place is the best in Orange County. We have eaten at number of sushi restaurants and this one exceeded our expectations. We came in at 3pm on a weekend and the service was so quick. The server recommended the oh my garlic roll and it was great (if you like garlic). The crispy rice was fantastic and the large salad was phenomenal. I absolutely loved the dressing and avocado. Since taking over this location, they have renovated the inside of the restaurant, making it look much newer and enlightening the menu. They are closed on Mondays! I want to come here to try the lunch special next because the lunch specials on the menu look fantastic for a decent price. I look forward to coming back here soon!“

“Top notch Sushi! I've been coming here since they opened and I'm in love with this place. First, Chef Masa is the nicest most friendly Chef there is, and all his staff are friendly and spot on with water refills and quick service. The fish he gets is some of the freshest and best quality out there. For cooked food Try the salmon collar. It's the melt in your mouth part of the salmons neck and cheek, and prepared expertly! Everything I've had, from the fresh oysters, the halibut carpaccio, the Takowasa, and Takoyaki, they spicy yellow tail lover roll and al the sashimi- has been perfect. Can't recommend enough !“

“This is our family's weeknight sushi place. We bring the kids who absolutely demolish the crunchy rolls. My favorite is the yellow tail buffalo roll. The fish is always delicious and the service is always great. They take extra care of our kiddos. The Yoshi rolls are a personal favorite too. The price is fair too!“

“The food is quite good and seems really fresh. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The only problem we encountered was getting our mixed vegetables way before our entrees arrived. They would have been much warmer arriving with the main meal. Otherwise, all was good.“

“I went there the other day for the first time and had some sushi. It was probably one of the best sushi places in Laguna Niguel. It was very delicious. I ordered the dragon sushi, baked scallop and baked salmon. The service was fast. I highly recommend this location. I will definitely go back.“

“We were really craving some local sushi and decided to pop in on a Friday night no reservation around 6 PM.. I feel like we got there just before the rush. They have plenty of seats at the sushi bar, indoor dining as well as covered space outdoor dining . We decided to sit at the bar like we always do . Sushi chefs were on point. And I mean on point.. We decided to bring our own crisp rosé from Paso Robles . This went well with all of our sushi choices. Of course our favorite was the bluefin tuna. The barbecued eel is one of my favorites and we decided to have their very fancy crispy rice with several other fresh fish. We will definitely be back. This is a very fresh sushi restaurant.“

“Excellent fish! If looking for crazy rolls with lots of sauces this is not your place. If you just want excellent fish you're in the right place. Only a handful of tables and seats at the sushi bar so reservations are suggested.Parking: Tons of parking.“

“Whenever in San Clemente area and craving sushi, this local stop is an excellent and affordable stop! Their prices are unbeatable especially for a San Clemente restaurant! Always fresh food, nice portions. Delicious rolls for a well rounded and healthy meal. This is my 2nd time here and I finally left a review bc I was so happy with the meal and price. Friendly and great service too! Intimate ambiance.“

“Kind of a hole in the wall spot that is in undercover gem. The sushi is wide-ranging and excellent… from all the rolls that you would expect to some high-end, interesting additions, like grilled salmon/yellow tail cheek. All of the rolls are thoughtfully put together and you can’t go wrong with any of them. The vibe is super cool…it’s another great sushi option in San Clemente. They do have a wacky limited hours situation where you could get there too late and not have a shot at eating, so my advice is to go earlier than you think you should to ensure you can get in and then it’s a great experience.“

We had a huge party and I was worried that we would be a burden to the employees, but one employee in specific was this lovely lady named Sophia! She was very patient with my little cousins and was super friendly! All the employees here are super respectful and their number #1 priority is great customer service! I'll be coming here a lot now!“

“This is an authentic sushi restaurant. We have only eaten here for lunch and it is so good. Fresh fish, perfectly prepared with unique ingredients and offerings on the menu. They have sushi rolls, salads, main fish entrees, sushi bowls, etc. the crispy tuna rice is one of the best appetizers, comes with 3 but we order an add on so we can each have two. It comes with fried garlic slice on top of the spicy tuna. We start with miso soup and get the green iced tea, it’s so refreshing and they will give free refills.“

“Really cute place, very cozy but not cramped. The server was new but very kind and asked their manager when they didn’t know the answer to something, which is always good. My dad and I got vegan ramens and they were delicious but I wish there was a spicy vegan ramen, too. Brother got the Miso ramen and enjoyed it. The vegan sushis (vegetable tempura and vegetable rolls) were pretty good. I have high standards for vegan sushi thanks to vegan sushi restaurants in the Bay area but for Orange County this is a sushi and ramen place with great vegan options.Vegetarian options: Vegan options (Vegan Ramen, Miso Soup, Fried Tofu, Edamame, Vegetable Tempura Roll, Vegetable Roll).Dietary restrictions: Vegan options (Vegan Ramen, Miso Soup, Fried Tofu, Edamame, Vegetable Tempura Roll, Vegetable Roll).“

“This is a good neighborhood joint. It's not fancy, but the food is solid and the staff is attentive and friendly. If you go regularly, they'll remember your name. The have indoor seating (sushi bar and tables) and a small covered patio. They have fun hand-lettered signs with specials. Halibut carpaccio was one the specials tonight. If you go for lunch, they've got bento box specials that are tasty too.RECOMMENDParking: This is in in a large shopping plaza with a big parking lot. Parking is never a problem.Kid-friendliness: They don't have a kids menu or specific option for kids. If your kid likes sushi or teriyaki or tempura, then your kid would do okay here.“

“Nice little speakeasy. The entrance is unique and we loved the decor and vibe. The service was standard and the drinks & sushi were good but nothing to blow you away. Recommend they change to paper menus! The phone menu was hard to read and it took away from the ambiance they're trying to create.“
