“KJB Pho & Egg Rolls is a small, unassuming Vietnamese cafe on Newport Boulevard that has quietly become one of our regular lunch spots.

The dinning room is simple, but there’s a warmth to it. The owner and her staff always greet you with a smile, and that same sense of care seems to carry into the food. Ingredients are noticeably fresh, portions are generous, and even familiar dishes feel a little more considered here.

I’ve worked my way through the pho, flat noodles and several of the banh mi. The barbecue pork sandwich is the one I keep coming back to: a substantial French roll, fresh ingredients and consistently good pork.

There’s a steady stream of takeout during lunch and dinner, and depending on the day, sometimes we grab ours to go and sometimes we stay. Either way, this is one of those small neighborhood restaurants where being welcomed genuinely adds something to the experience.

It’s also remarkably easy to get to right off Newport Boulevard, with plenty of parking whenever we’ve been there. If you’re in a rush they are quick to serve you as well. It’s an easy recommendation if you’re looking for Vietnamese food in Costa Mesa or Newport.“

“I give them four stars in the food category, because the food was so good, that I wanted more options. In particular, the buffalo wings are cooked damn near to perfection. It sucks that my only true option is lemon pepper. I think if they would give us buffalo wings and the people got to taste them, they could grab some of that market locally.“

“Linh, our server was super friendly and pleasant. She always smile and attentive to her customers. You always feel happy to have her serve you. She's best at her jobs. She has great personality and superb skills with customers. Phở, rice with Salmon, rice with lemon grass chicken are so good. There portions are huge. Your money are well spent here. “Had a quick pho at Saiga during lunch and ended up sharing a table with a stranger, definitely a rushed experience as I had to move quickly for the next person’s turn. Personally, I don’t think I’ll be back, as the pho didn’t quite justify the price for me. That said, their business model is nice and efficient, catering well to the busy lunch crowd. A cool concept, but not my go-to for pho in OC.“

“My sisters and I came to this restaurant, and they were playing the news. We didn't feel like being bummed by the news, so we asked if the restaurant minded if they could change the channel. The staff gave us the remote and let us change the channel ourselves! I really really appreciated that. We have come back many times since! Out of all the bánh cuốn places we've had in OC, theirs is closest to authentic Hanoi bánh cuốn. It's not perfect but it's close! Thank you again!“

“Locally owned and situated on Marine Drive on Balboa Island with friendly staff. Our favorite is the shrimp spring rolls with homemade peanut sauce and for a hearty meal the pho filet mignon. For a nominal price upon request they will steam a plate of filet mignon for your furry friend. My minature goldendoodle Violet loves it!“

“I recently tried Beef Skillet w/Bread here, and overall, it was just alright. I suppose every restaurant has its own unique way of making it, but this version missed the mark for me in a couple of ways. The flavor of this dish was a bit salty. The eggs were severely burned on the bottom, which took away from the overall meal.
If they can fix the burning issue, this could easily turn into a decent, enjoyable dish. It’s entirely possible I just picked the wrong item to start with, since it might not be their specialty. My friend ordered Pho and is good, so I plan on coming back to try some of their other dishes next time!“

“After visiting the OC/LA area, we're on the way back to the Bay Area, we wanted to have some lunch before we go. Some of the restaurant closed on Monday, one our friends recommended this place for real excellent egg noodles soups, so we stopped by, it's right next to PLT the big VN shopping center.
There's no parking for this restaurant, the whole block has a few parking spots and there's parking on the PLT but always full. We had to park outside on a different shopping center.
The restaurant is small and simple, clean. The owner or the care taker seems to be extremely friendly and attentive sitting us on a table.
The menu has quite a few dishes, but we're concentrating on egg noodle soup for lunch so we ordered the special bowl of rice noodles instead of egg noodles. It's quite good, quite tasty with chinese crispy donuts.
We had a great lunch and the price is extremely inexpensive. Ready to drive home.“

“This is going to be my new go to Pho place. We had oxtai, rare steak, and brisket. I always say when the brisket is tender, it always is a good pho. They have a small and a large size for $1 extra. The dish size difference is huge. Service was nice and super fast. 5 stars!“

“Parking is very difficult here but we were lucky to find some street parking. We had a reservation but the place was not crowded so we were quickly seated. Took forever for the server to come to take the order. We had the vermicelli bowl with chicken (my favorite) and my colleague ordered the red curry with beef. He was disappointed in the dish finding it lacking in flavor and bite. The beef was fairly chewy too. My dish was the best with tender pieces of chicken, all the veggies we expected and a good portion of vermicelli noodles. Prices are high but it is Corona Del Mar and it was a good place to stop by for lunch. Lots of take away orders going out so it is popular with the locals. But parking is rough.“

“Had a group of 10 and waited about 30 minutes or so. It's a super small place. They will also take your order while you're in line so you can get it a few minutes after you sit down.

Broth was real flavorful with the crab and thick broth consistency. I'd def go back. Must also get the egg rolls. Be aware of the hot sauce. It's super spicy“
