“I was looking for the bakery shops for a while who can make custom cake the way I wanted to. After spending time searching for cake makers, I found Flouring Cake Shop on Instagram. They said they could make my cake without any problem. And look what a work of art they created. I recommend everyone order a custom cake from them at least once. Thank you, guys, for the amazing work.“

“Amazing bakery! We stopped by for pastries and coffee, and both were outstanding. The kouign-amann was perfectly buttery and caramelized with just the right balance of crisp and soft layers, and the cappuccino was smooth, rich, and expertly made. Great quality, cozy vibe, and friendly service. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!“

“My toddler son and I found Modern Bite one day a few months ago, and we tried a free sample Buzz Lightyear cookie that we just loved so much! We just ordered 3-dozen custom designed cookies for his 4th birthday, and they're adorable and delicious and they rushed our order to make it all possible in time for pre-school. Really great customer service and product. We are quite pleased <3.“

“Was almost lost when trying to find the outlet since it's located in a plaza that might not be visible if you're by the road side. Worry not about parking at the plaza since they apparently validated parking (yep! plus point for sure).
The gorgeously designed outlet only served grab and go since there's no seating on the spot. There were some outdoor benches at the center of the plaza though if you just couldn't wait to enjoy the goodies.
They offered bunch of sweets from Canele, Madeleine, Financier, Cookies, Cheesecake, and more; all of which did come in multiple flavors. So yeah, be prepared to be indecisive in front of the showcase. They were super helpful though in assisting you making your choices by recommending the favorite ones. It was nice that the price was decent enough for LA standard, so you could definitely opt for more than one or a couple.
For my initial visit, I started with the Ube Financier, which was kept in the chiller, maybe due to the cream on top. It came in spongy yet not too airy texture with luscious ube cream topping. It was decent, but not really my top choice. My second was their Earl Grey Milk Chocolate Tigre, which was basically buttery cake kinda similar to financier IMO, with milk chocolate ganache at the center. I definitely loved this more than the financier, especially the combo of earl grey and milk chocolate which to my surprise was awesome and helped balancing the taste to be not overly sweet. Another one I tried was their thick salted chocolate chip cookies, which decadently had crispy edge though I wish being more gooey inside as it's tad dry. Nonetheless, flavor wise I felt like classic chocolate chip with a sprinkle of sea salt indeed never failed. The creme de la creme, however, was certainly their canele which I was beyond thrilled to finally find in LA. I had my favorite one in London which I thought unbeatable, and it's impressive that LA now had something comparable to satisfy the craving without having to fly over 5K miles away. It flawlessly had that crispy coating, moist center, and just the right sweetness level. I surely made the right choice going with matcha as Brown Bag definitely elevated the overall taste with this matcha flavor and that matcha cream top. It was no brainer that their canele is NEVER TO BE MISSED if you ever paid Brown Bag a visit.“

“Paul is very nice and made me feel so welcomed! He remembered me even though I've only been there once. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. If I recall correctly, he said that the strawberry cake ball, coffee cake, and a few others were popular picks. There is only outdoor sidewalk seating (a total of 3 small tables with 2 seats each). The interior is tiny, and it carries the feel of a quick in-and-out pickup store. It's also right across the street from Pasadena's Central Park if you're looking for a stroll while you eat. It's very transit-accessible. It's a 5 minute walk from the A line Del Mar station. death by chocolate cookie ($3.85) - It's just a typical double chocolate cookie! It's a little gritty and dry (maybe it's gluten free?) but still delicious nonetheless. coffee cake ($5.88) - sweet, with a flavor of cinnamon (not in an overpowering way). If you enjoy coffee cake, definitely get this, as vegan coffee cake is a rarity in Pasadena and LA. ice cream sandwich ($9.25) - honestly, i think this was a little too sweet for me. The ice cream itself was plain vanilla soft serve, but when sandwiched by two entire chocolate chip cookies, I think the sweetness can be overpowering. Keep in mind that it also melts very fast (since it has the consistency of soft serve) and this makes it hard to keep the whole sandwich in shape. If you do not plan to eat it right away, I would not recommend getting this as it'll melt in a mere minute.“

“We are so lucky to have this cafe here in Pasadena! I've tried the carbonara, puttanesca, sandwiches, foccacia, and fried zucchini blossom, and it's all been delicious. Their homemade bread is incredible and is the star of their amazing sandwiches. For fellow lovers of bittersweet Italian sodas, they stock chinotto here, as well a couple small bitter sodas! On top of how good the food is, the service is very warm and friendly. You can tell it's a family business run with a lot of love. Can't recommend it highly enough, and I'm looking forward to going back and trying even more of the menu.“

“I went to this place because it's a popular spot for the trendy Dubai-style chewy cookies. The cookies were indeed chewy and had a nice crunch from the shredded phyllo dough. They were very small, but the price was outrageously expensive at $8 compared to other donuts. I tried it once, but I wouldn't pay $8 for it again, even though it tasted good. The staff were friendly, though.“

“Whenever I'm in Little Tokyo, I come here for the yummy fresh breads. The melon pan is like a Mexican concha, but with the sugary topping on top. The bread is so soft. Goes pretty well with some coffee. The Green Tea Roll Cake was delicious. It is a light, fluffy sponge cake flavored with Japanese matcha green tea powder, rolled into a cylinder, and filled with sweet cream. I also love getting the steam buns. I love getting the An Man, which is a sweet red bean. The taco man, which is beef and veggies, and the curry man, which is chicken and veggies. I highly recommend it if you're in Little Tokyo. The service is excellent.“

“If you’re looking for an allergy-friendly bakery, this is well worth the visit! We’re visiting from out of town and I just wish there was a place as just as careful as back home. I got really excited and got almost one of everything. There’s a small counter for sitting and eating. These were the first allergen free cupcakes I’ve eaten that don’t taste a little weird, which was so refreshing and exciting. Fun innovative flavors as well 💕“

“Hi Bakery is a true gem in LA—a bakery and coffee spot that turns pastries into edible art. I’m so grateful for places like this that honor ancient fermentation methods with the absolute best, time-honored ingredients, including ancient grains that are stone ground and far more expensive than the commercial or conventional flour used by 99% of other bakeries. They could easily opt for the cheap stuff, but instead, they choose these premium ingredients to keep us healthy. Every bite feels nourishing and light; you walk away feeling energized and good, never groggy, bloated, or overly full. For the gluten-free people (by preference, not allergic/celiac folks), give this a chance—you’ll be so happy to have real pastries again! It’s a testament to the passion and care of the people behind it. There’s simply no other spot like Hi Bakery; thank you for existing!“

“Overall the food was just okay here.
I came late in the day so I sadly missed the egg tarts but they had plenty of po tarts which are basically milk cream custard in the tart forms. The pastry was so light and flaky with a rich and velvety filling!
I wanted a savory pastry too and asked the cashier which was their favorite, they recommended the spicy curry. This wasn't the best.It wasn't bad but it also wasn't spicy nor did it have much flavor. The pastry dough itself was so much better than the entirety of the item.“

“A local person recommended it, specifically the cardamom bun. I was so fortunate to get the last one and it was totally worth the hour drive! Definitely hoping I get the opportunity to come back. That breakfast burrito was also the best one I have EVER had!
I also ordered the matcha and got it with almond milk. Didn't ask for sweetener, and I don't think it comes with any which I think is great! Too many places have sugar already in the mix. Next time I want to try the orange cardamom coffee!“

“This Red Ribbon has been the only one I’ve gone to since I was a child. I hope it NEVER closes!! Last night, I walked in at 8:30 pm (they close at 9 pm). I saw that they started customized picture cakes. I asked Chelo how long I need to request in advance. She said about at least 30 mins to an hour. Even though at this point, we were cutting it close to closing time, Chelo ensured I would have my cake. She encouraged me to get one. Princess and Chelo were very efficient and patient with me even with my indecisiveness! Mind you it’s less than 30 mins til closing! Instead of giving me any attitude or hesitation, they made me feel welcome!! The cake came out beautifully! They were able to finish my cake within less than 15 mins since I didn’t have much edits to make. I can’t believe I can get a customized cake without the usual preordering 24-48hrs hour prior. I plan to always upgrade my cakes to these picture cakes for only $10 more. Thank you so much Princess and Chelo for making my friend’s bday even more special this year! Please continue to bless this world with genuine kindness and happiness!! ♥️✨“

“If this is not the best banh mi in all of Sgv and Oc, I don’t know of any place that can beat them. All cash by the way so come prepared. Their dac biet is the perfect sandwich and their daikon and carrots are light and bouncy with fresh jalapeno with the right amount of pate and butter. They have it down to perfection, nothing less. Had an open house and served it for homebuyers and they were blown away! Highly recommend! Cafe sua da is gold too, loved the shaved ice in the coffee and not too sweet. The ladies in the back are super sweet and you can buy the baguettes and freeze them, then 350 f for 6 mins in toaster or airfryer. Get the egg rolls, and pa te so is good too. My clients loved their vegetarian banh mi too!
Vegetarian options: Just get he vegetarian banh mi! Only vegetarian thing to get or just plain baguettes! It will be worth it!“
