“We tried this place for the first time this week. My wife got a salad with chicken and I got an enchiladas plate. The food was better than expected, cooked well, good temperature. I was especially impressed with the roasted vegetables in my wife’s salad, the quality of the chicken, and the spicy green sauce on my enchilada. Our server (Camille) was especially enthusiastic and helpful.“

I can’t say how refreshing it is to be able to eat clean healthy Asian cuisine. The owner is Bill and I’ve met him twice now. He’s passionate about his restaurants, yes I said restaurants plural. He let me know there’s one in Eldorado Hills and Folsom as well as this one I’m reviewing in Citrus Heights on Sunrise. It’s beautiful, clean, and the food is so very delicious! For our entrée: *8oz lobster tail, baked potato and green beans *Surf and Turf, which included prime rib, king crab leg, baked potato and green beans. We ended our meal having cheesecake with raspberry sauce and creme brulee. Our sever was attentive and polite. He went above and beyond to make our experience a pleasure. “Wow wow wow!!! The fish and chips here are delicious!!! My husband and I ran in right before closing and the fish was so fresh and the batter was so crispy! My husband grew up in Washington eating fish and chips at Iver’s and he said this is the closest he’s ever had to their fish and chips. The owners are so sweet and hooked up us with a couple extra pieces since they were closing in a few minutes. Tugboat Fish and Chips is becoming a staple in our household!

“I really enjoyed the dumplings from Uncle Dumplings! They were so good and full of flavor. The dumplings were juicy, soft, and literally burst in your mouth with every bite. 😋🥟 You can really taste that they’re freshly made, and I enjoyed every bite.

The restaurant is a little bit small, but overall the food is great and definitely worth trying. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommend! 🥟❤“

“I'm from San Diego, and one of the hardest parts about moving to norcal was losing taco shop Mexican food.
I've tried dozens of spots in the Sacramento area over the last three years, they're either gross or it's just texmex (also gross.). And finally, after three years I found El Mariachi. I am SO glad I did.

I always get a simple bean and cheese burrito to start at a taco shop. The things I need to know are: are the beans good? is the tortilla good? And I just can't have any other flavors like meat masking the taste of the beans or tortillas. This place has the best beans and tortillas in the area.

Salsas are also a very important thing for me in whether I enjoy a taco shpp or not. Some of the places around here either have salsas with absolutely no heat to any of their red salsas, they're gross, or they're just okay. I absolutely adored the house salsa at El Mariachi's. Especially on the bean and cheese burrito.

El Mariachi's ticks every single one of my boxes for what an actually good taco shop is.

This place is really close to San Diego taco shop, El Mariachi's beans are perfect. Not grainy, seasoned great and taste fresh. Their cheese is great, and tortillas are incredible. They aren't that pale white, thick and undercooked and dry, clearly store bought flour tortilla. Their tortillas are more yellowish-translucent and thin, and not dry which is perfect. They taste fresh, the texture is perfect and they taste delicious in general.

“GREAT fish and chips, don't judge a book by its cover. A handful of 4-person booths inside to enjoy your meal at; tables are clean and nowhere near as sticky as other fry shops I've been to.

Very reasonably priced and the pieces of fish are HUGE (like 9 inches of cod each). Family sized dinners are a good value--we got the 6-piece Rowboat--and they have Mug root beer in the fountain! (Pepsi products) The hushpuppies had good flavor and were not soggy or chewy. Fried oysters were huge and also good.

The house white sauce is more garlic cream than tartar sauce. There was a very tomato-forward slightly chunky spicy mock cocktail sauce that was also pleasant. Coleslaw was just shredded cabbage with some light creamy dressing, which was enough to offset the fried everything.

Overall one of my favorite stops on this side of town!“
