“My last trip to Yoshinoya wasn't the experience I remember in terms of the food. Seems like the meat is really cut in half into shreds. Wasn't satisfied with a large bowl on my own.Other than that, the staff members were polite and hard working. Like many places, they seem to be understaffed. So you might have to wait long as the staff have to carry so many tasks at one time. Just one at the register and one cook.Be patient or go somewhere else if youre on a tight schedule.Still not a deal breaker, will come back again soon.“
“Lovely spot with incredible atmosphere and food. The food was presented nicely and tasted even better. Would highly recommend the scallop/uni course and the skewers! the beef tongue was our favourite. As for the bone marrow, it was a little shallow and the miso overpowered it.Overall, I’d highly recommend n/soto to anyone looking for Japanese food around the area. Would definitely come again.“
“Im so glad I finally discovered Yama! I am in love with the Yama special California roll - I’m disappointed to see that it’s not available to order separately on Door dash - Please add it there! The only thing I haven’t loved so far was the unagi roll, it had a rubbery texture. Maybe I just was unlucky with that one. Overall really good sushi! I also love the rest of the market with the Japanese gifts :)“
“Superb place. Unfortunately Jonny Won (?) left couple of years ago but the current Chef is more than capable of upholding this restaurant's glowing reputation for exceptionally fresh ingredients and superb cooking skills. My only advice is to stick to fish and leave the meat dishes as, although nice, are not quite "wow" as they used to be.“
“Simply amazing fusion good influenced w Taiwan local food taste (taiwan arguably has best street food :).. ). Amazing presentation and tastes that remind me of various well known dishes in taiwan. We added 2 extra dishes on top of the 9-course meal…. Simply amazing experience.“
“Okay nothing this good should be in Redondo Beach but it is? Shame on all of the other pretenders. It’s just that superb. Chef Jen scales the culinary heights of Parnassus with ease and grace. A superb experience! You have to slow down and adjust to the tempo of the space and service. You have no better place to go! Trust me!“
“Came in with my partner and the interior was small and so it felt a bit tight, but the servers knew how to work around the space well! They were also super friendly without being overbearing and the food that we ordered was so good! I got the omurice and my partner got the hayashi dish. I preferred mine over his and their miso soup was paired really well with the omurice :)I would come back again to try their breakfast and bento mealsParking: There are paid parking lots around the area or if you’re lucky, street parking for 1-2 hoursWheelchair accessibility: I don’t think it would be easy for a wheelchair user to be able to dine inside due to the space but if they moved a few chairs around, it’s possible! They also have outdoor seating as well“
“Delicious evening. Many extra courses in the tasting menu, lots of extra black truffles on many dishes. Both of the servers were super knowledgeable and friendly. The table next to us was a loud couple with a dude on his phone a lot and that was the single negative part of our evening. An amazing birthday experience. Thanks, guys!“
“Every dish was melt in your mouth good. Some of the best sushi I’ve had at this price point. Will definitely come back, highly recommend. The shop is a smaller spot and a bit unassuming, but the food speaks for itself. The staff were also extremely friendly, allowing us to move some tables around to meet our groups needs when they weren’t too busy. Really appreciate the visit here.“
“I recently took my lunch break at Guzzu Bento-ya, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I opted for their Hayashi Rice, a flavorful twist on Japanese beef stew, and it instantly became my new favorite comfort food, especially in the chilly weather. The braised tender beef, onions, and mushrooms melded together perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The space was cozy and perfect to do some work. I love how they have anime playing on the projector.Beyond their renowned bento boxes, Guzzu Bento-ya impressed me with their new salads and stews, each bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly accommodating, offering spot-on recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Whether you're craving a classic bento box or eager to explore their latest offerings, Guzzu Bento-ya is sure to exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!5/5“
“Came here on a Sunday night around 7 pm, wait for 15 mins and I was in.It’s a cute little shop that serves good udon. I tried the Takoyaki and it was fine, not great. Little too doughy for me.For the udon we tried the miso carbonara and the hot dragon. I would say that they were both good. Carbonara is very creamy and milky while the hot dragon packed some good flavors. The hot dragon felt like it was more food than the carbonara.Took about 15 mins to get our food so a bit slow but I think they handcraft the noodles so many that’s why it took a while? About $50 for two udons and an app.“
“Everything is of the highest quality! The atmosphere is very pleasant and the food is completely fresh. I ordered 3 dishes and they were all served fresh and with a simple and beautiful presentation! Great experience, I will definitely be back!“
“Absolutely delightful service & chicken! Make sure to check the counter for info on their combos and bentos since those are good deals for lunch. The portions are great, so an 8 piece is enough for 2 lunches, especially if you’re pairing it with rice or a salad. Will definitely be back.“
“Amazing experience! I came here for my birthday dinner and the Tokyo omakase was to die for. One of the best meals I had in my life. The staff is very attentive and has great recommendations for which sake to order, you can tell that they really care about the dining experience. Each course was fresh and delicious and really highlighted the best flavors. I have never enjoyed uni before, but here it was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to be back next time I have something to celebrate.“
“I absolutely adore their mazemen and usually get the Tokyo option. I don’t even mind the wait if I happen to come at a busy time. The food is well worth it! The servers are so nice and it’s a chill place to sit and eat. Easy parking on Olympic.“
“My go-to place for sushi when I happen to be in LA. There are no reservations, so you typically have to wait, but for not a lot of time. They have the right match of service people to tables and their system works well. The fish is always fresh and the tip is a flat rate on the bill at 16%. It’s a pretty small place, so probably not good for groups larger than 6 or with picky eaters (this is a sushi restaurant and doesn’t have too much else). The only ding is the their app sometimes calls you for your table too early and you have to wait in the restaurant before they call you back up.“
“Fresh sushi at a reasonable price. We were travelling to the LA area from Ontario, Canada and were eager to try sushi in California. This place popped up on our radar and did not disappoint. The sushi is super fresh, great quality, customer service is very attentive and food came promptly. You can tell this place is busy and for good reason!Parking: We were able to get a spot in the parking lot where this place is situated in the mall.“
“Started with smiling and welcoming staff. Our table was next to a very loud and screaming crowd and was getting so loud that we couldn’t even talk without shouting ti hear each other. The manager came over to apologise and offered us to move to another quieter table which we kindly took. They stage kept apologizing to us about the loud crowd. Kept us happy and well served all thrice our meal. Food was great! Ambience was great! We were very happy all in all! Hands down to the staff who tolerated the loud crowd who were still there when we left!!!!“
“Ordered for takeout via the website during my lunch break-- the portions are huge for the price and great quality! Pickup was fast and efficient. The steps are a cute area to get some sun amidst the workday. Check it out if you work in the area and are looking for something different than the usual!!!“
“Since this place is doing only take out at the moment, truly excellent take-out experience. I have never seen omakase that doing take out as phenomenal. Everything was incredibly thoughtful and of the best quality I ever had. Especially, this place will serve you takeout as dining plates.“
“First time visiting and we had the omakase. The staff welcomed us like they have known us for years as soon as we walked in. The service throughout the omakase was amazing and the sushi was the best weve had since visiting Japan! Toshisan is passionate and friendly. Cant wait to go back asap! I wish I could keep Toshi Sushi to myself and not tell anyone about it, but they deserve to be successful so I chose to write this review. We are incredibly lucky to have sushi of this quality, at s reasonable price, and in Gardena no less. If you're reading this, dont think about it any longer and just go.“
“Absolutely loved this experience. Thank you for this wonderful comfortable dinner. It’s exactly what I love. The restaurant is not big which I liked because it felt cozy and not super crowded. Non of the courses specifically stood out but everything was perfect. Service was absolutely incredible, always caring and super friendly. Loved how they kept giving extra courses and even adding a lovely Polaroid picture at the end. It’s crazy how they even thank us again by sending a letter to my address. Loved it and LOVED IT. Just go“
“we had a great experience here at lunchtime yesterday. good options for veggies, really tasty ramen. the service especially was fantastic - as soon as we came in with my baby daughter, the waitress brought a high chair and even an age-appropriate sippy cup full of water which i was so impressed by. amazing friendly team!“
“My boyfriend and I got the omakase but to be honest it was not worth it, the food tasted great but you can get almost the exact same course by ordering the 10 piece nigiri from the menu for half of the price. The atmosphere is nice but not appropriate for a traditional omakase. Highly recommend, just save your money and skip out on the omakase.“
“I found this place 2 years ago completely by accident. My family and I walked in, and the rest was history. Amazing atmosphere, amazing service, and the cherry on top: the AMAZING food. I can't say enough about the food. Excellent selection, combinations, and taste. The chef knows what they're doing, and it shows. The black fried rice is so unique and delicious. We left happy with happy stomachs. I am excited to report that two years later, HATCH still exceeds my expectations. Happened to be in LA again and remembered the food. I couldn't remember the name, so I searched for it. Found the place, and it's a short walk away. Perfect. Walked in, got a table, and the service was amazing, per usual. The food was fantastic! The owner came over and checked on us, asking how everything was going. We explained how we were so happy to find HATCH again after two years and memories of the wonderful experience. The owner ended up cutting us a deal and said if we ordered one dessert, we'd get another one the house. Both of the desserts were delectable. The next time I find myself in downtown LA, I will be returning to HATCH. I'm so happy to support an awesome restaurant with amazing food and a wonderful owner. You guys are killing it!“
“I recently dined at this sushi restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The freshness of the fish was outstanding, and each roll showcased a perfect balance of flavors. The presentation was artful, and the attentive staff added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend trying their signature rolls – a delightful fusion of traditional and creative elements. A top-notch spot for sushi enthusiasts!“
“Love their speciality drinks and fun breads and pastries. I got the curry pan and the strawberry sakura latte and both were really good. The floral and berry flavors worked nicely with the coffee but the sakura flavor wasn’t super strong. Pretty centrally located in Little Tokyo and the staff are really nice. There were a few tables inside but I took my order to go.“
“SOOOOO soo good!! Always look forward to stopping by whoever the truck is at. Highly recommend the Classic burger and also the Chicken katsu sandwich. Thé gorgonzola on thé burger is DELICIOUS. The veggies are crisp and fresh. And the sauces are homemade, so so delicious. A MUST try“
“My teenagers and I were impressed with the simplicity of flavors of all our dishes. We started off with an assorted sashimi plate that had 3 pieces each of tuna, salmon, kampachi, and Japanese scallops and a plate of scallop carpaccio. It was soo yummy that we ordered another plate of scallop carpaccio and then we felt like we just had to try the kampachi carpaccio. Sooo good and the scallops just melt in your mouth! For our main dishes, we decided to share the Spicy Tonkotsu with extra bamboo shoots and the Truffle Butter Tonkotsu. The broths were very flavorful, the noodles fresh, and the chasu was delicious. For dessert, the friendly staff recommended the house-made Shio Koji ice cream with black sea salt to help cleanse our palates. It was very light and definitely refreshing. And I also tried the Genmaicha tea which was very light, aromatic, and soothing. All in all this place is a must go-to when you're in Ktown. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and very helpful for suggesting menu items. This is definitely our family's favorite find of the year!“
“I don't want to say it, but this is the best sushi in the city. Perfect atmosphere and food quality. Most similar to sushi in Japan without the additions and perversions of fusion cooking or the type of cooking culture that chases Michelin clout.I only regret saying it because more people will know, which means the wait will be longer.Get the tamago. It is heaven in a little split yellow cake.Kid-friendliness: Bring your own high chair. We bring our toddler and she does great, but there are only two tables for small children and we have to bring our own modular high chair.“
“I wanted to let you know about our recent dining experience at Irori Shushi. Jess was our waitress, and I must say that she provided exceptional service. Not only was she attentive and friendly, but her recommendations for our meal were outstanding. Every dish she suggested was absolutely delicious. I wanted to take a moment to commend Jess for her professionalism and expertise. She truly made our dining experience memorable and enjoyable. Her knowledge of the menu and her ability to make recommendations based on our preferences was impressive. In light of our positive experience with Jess, I wanted to share my recommendation with you. If anyone ever asks me if they should come to your restaurant for sushi, I will definitely tell them to ask for Jess. She made a significant impact on our dining experience, and I believe she is a valuable asset to your team. Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back in the future.“
“Went back to back days because of the food was so good. The service was impeccable as well as the drinks. The lovely hostess was able to seat me despite it being super packed and I did not have a reservation. Definitely a revisit when in LA!“
“I like this place! Japanese food, Hawaiian music, it's like I'm in Hawaii visiting family, lol. Parking might be a little inconvenient, but not a problem. I parked in the back. It's pick-up style and the hours are limited. Definitely will be coming back to try other things“
“My boyfriend and I love eating here. It's a very popular spot, so if you don't want to wait in line for a long time, I recommend coming on a weekday or early. If you eat at the bar, you do not have an option for the lunch menu. At the bar, sushi is made in front of you. It's very good, but prices add up quickly if you like to eat a lot. Sitting at the table, they have a really good lunch special.“
“Tucked away in Koreatown is this intimate dining experience. We went to hibi for date night a few weeks ago and it was great! We ordered a wide array of food to try as much as the menu. The chef mentioned that a tasting menu is coming soon so we will be back for another visit! All of the food was super delicious and the presentation was neat. My favorite dish was the steak! The staff were attentive and very kind. Highly recommend checking it out!“
“This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Sushi Enya. The place is on the same street as the popular ramen place. We orders the 18 piece sashimi set twice and the chef was thoughtful enough to put different fish slices on the two orders. We also tried their specialty eel roll which is served on a very long dish since eels are long? Quality of the fish are quite high and attention to details are there. There are not many tables so it gets crowded. Usually there is a wait so suggest to arrive early (5PM) or use table reservations. They have a cancellation fee if you make table reservation. There is no parking on site so you have paid street parking or paid parking structure near by.“
“So good!! Food: Amazing. I ordered the assorted yaki gyoza (veggie pork chicken and shrimp) and it was so good I ordered 6 more pork gyoza. Perfectly cooked with a nice crisp to the bottom, amazing flavor, and so juicy. They have different ways to prepare, I think yaki, maybe steam (don't quote me) and in the soup. The soup was also really flavorful and good (and hot haha watch out). They also have a ton of side sauces to choose from, but I love the basic ponzu. Better gyoza than a lot of ramen shops (IMO those usually have too much garlic) and reminded me of great gyoza spots in japan. Price: dude so cheap. I bought food for two people: an assorted bento, an assorted 6 piece, rice, and edamame for around $30. Ambiance: super chill, decent amount of seating, not super loud and can have convos easilyCustomer service: super friendly, explains everything, super cute drawings on the containers, quick as well.I think it's fairly new so business is still trickling in. Hoping they thrive so that I can keep coming back, I'll definitely be craving this again very soon.“
“I came here recently on a weekend, and there was a small group of people waiting outside for their orders. It took about 20 minutes but so worth it. We got the beef and chicken curry omusibi. They are filling & well worth the price of $4.95 each. The seaweed is perfectly salted and slightly crispy and they didn't skimp on the meat which I appreciated.“
“Been going here with my little siblings for a few years now. Their ramen is delicious and never disappoints, always finishing the last drop!!Their waiters are sweet and great service. I would go here from time to time and it's still good as always!!“
“We have come here a few times and each visit has been great. The food is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Definitely try the soba! They make it in house and it’s so good! My absolute favorite is the Asari appetizer. The flavor was amazing!!!!“
“4/5 stars (Vegetarian here for a plant-based/vegan review):We visited Suehiro Mini in Chinatown after the Chinatown Neighborhood Night Market hosted by CCEDLA in October, but I'm posting this review after learning that Suehiro's Little Tokyo location is facing eviction. Suehiro is a small family run restaurant chain with two generations of history, and the location in Chinatown has a smaller menu and storefront than its other locations. We were seated around 10:30 pm and the store wasn't too busy but it took us around 20 minutes to get our orders in and another 20 for the food to come out. Service is on the slower side so if you're on a time crunch definitely factor that in! There are four vegan options: vegan tomato ramen, vegan mapo don, vegan vegetable udon, and vegan yakisoba. I ordered the vegan tomato ramen. The broth was super thick and flavorful, and topped with fried and battered zucchini, tomato, and eggplants. While the portion sizes are quite large, the broth had a bit of a one note flavor and wasn't able to continue eating after I got through half. They have to-go containers so I was able to bring home the rest and it served as another meal. My friends ordered a Haiyashi Rice and Curry Rice and both really enjoyed their meal too. Their portions seemed even bigger, so if you have a small appetite I recommend sharing! Though service wasn't the quickest, we still enjoyed our meal, and I would love to return to try the other vegan options. If you're in the Chinatown area, try this ramen spot (as well as other small legacy businesses who are being pushed out by wealthier corporations that are actively working on gentrifying Chinatown).“
“I really love ramen, Can't get tired of eating anytime I find a good spot, and this is one of those places, whenever I'm nearby. Personally I highly recommend the slurping ramen combo, and chashu bowl. Price is very reasonable.food is delivered pretty fast, workers are very friendlyParking: Is a big lot with many business as well, but Parking shouldn't be an issue to enjoy a great ramen“
“I recently had dinner (reservations are a must) here in Downtown L.A.'s Arts District and was blown away by the entire experience from the moment I walked through that giant heavy wood door. With an evolving menu dependent of local California produce and focusing primarily on wood-fired and charcoal-fueled grill and stove cooking, Chef Junya Yamasaki and Team take you on a journey for all of your senses. This is progressive Japanese cuisine at its best! We had: Brown rice sake sangria; Passionfruit/sweet potato shochu & tonic water; Crispy Japanese Eggplant Fritters w/hot chili honey; Blue Fin Tuna Tartar w/cured egg yolk, breakfast radish & potato crisps; Grilled Saikyo Mido Marinated Black Cod, Mochi Rice & Sweetcorn-wrapped in fig leaf; Grilled Matsutake Mushrooms W/ roasted whole baby pumpkin stuffed w/an egg; Grilled Peads & Barnetts Pork Collar, mashed cannellini beans & charred peppers; and Irish Coffee Kakigori (shaved ice served w/coffee & Irish whiskey syrup, dates. & whipped cream)“
“Amazing! The fish is so fresh and the seaweed is perfectly toasted and crisp! Some of the best handrolls I’ve ever had and honestly affordable for the sushi quality! I like the counter service and although the menu is limited, I really don’t need any extra frills when the handrolls are this good“
“I always wanted to try Omakase and was in LA for the day. I had the lunch special and it was unbelievable. I have been eating sushi since the early 90s and this was by far, the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend trying this place.“
“Shunji Japanese Cuisine located near Santa MonicaRun by husband and wife Shunii, both very talkative. They almost kept interacting with the guests throughout the dinner. VerykindThe Omakase set meal price is 280$/per. There are 26 noodles in total on the day.Tao is the most filling omakase I have ever eaten. Even the chef said itIndeed, I had a lot of courses that day, usually about 22 courses, and the price/performance ratio was super high!My favorite is tomato tofu and cod liver toast (Picture 56)Shirako sushi is also very specialThe other two performances were also on par. However, I may have eaten too much at the beginning and was a little tired and full at the end, which made the impression of desserts mediocre.I still love this place and will visit again.Next door, there is Shunji's apprentice Miki's omakase room. I heard that the styles and tastes are different, so you can try it out!Shunji Japanese Cuisine located near Santa MonicaRun by husband and wife Shunii, both very talkative. They almost kept interacting with the guests throughout the dinner. “Shabu is great for groups, and really fun though may be a bit confusing for people who've never had Korean hot pot (or fondue chinois!). It's a little expensive if you want just a little fish in addition to a veggie hot pot, and the music is *party* loud.. great for fun but could be difficult for some with older ears. We didn't try the sake but there looked to be a great selection.. maybe next time !Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian hot pot option, and a small selection of veggie starters, as well as some great glass noodle salad and plenty of other noodles to cook, but the selection could be a little bigger (albeit there aren't too many proteinaceous veggie options in Korean food!).“
“This restaurant is tucked away from the busy part of Little Tokyo. We walked in at 6:30pm on a Thursday and were seated immediately. We came here for the famous uni pasta and mentai japanese cream pasta. Both were creamy, rich, and filled with umami. The mentai japanese cream one was slightly more fishy than the uni one. Can we talk about the portion sizes? Each plate of pasta was huge! Great value for the price. All pastas come with complementary sad and bread. Save some of the bread to soak up all the pasta sauce!“
“This is the second time I've brought some clients in for dinner and it was EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME!! The quality of the fish is top notch, and the staff and chefs are professional, outgoing, and attentive. I live up in the San Ferndando Valley, but won't hesitate to make the drive into traffic on the 405 to eat here again and again. Well done Sushi Enya, and we'll be seeing you soon!“
“Parking is free and plentiful here. Nice location because it’s next to other shops and close to Costco. This is a good place for a quick bite to eat, I love the spicy tuna hand rolls and the shrimp tempura. I usually do take-out but I had time to dine in today and the place was clean and comfortable. Nice that they have Jarritos available as a drink option!“
