I’ve always been a loyal customer to my local donut shop in San Rafael, but today I had the chance to stop by Bob’s Donuts in Mill Valley, and I’m so glad I did. As I met Ryan Murphy, a young high school student who works there and truly represents the shop with excitement and positivity. His energy was refreshing, and he took the time to ask what kind of donuts I usually go for. After I told him that chocolate is my go-to, he highly recommended I try theirs—and I’m glad I listened.

The chocolate donut was impressive—great texture, rich flavor, and clearly made with care. Bob’s Donuts has a delicious recipe that sets them apart. They’re definitely more than just another donut shop—they’re a local gem at 252 Almonte Blvd, Mill Valley, CA 94941.

“I get dozens of bagels from New York Bagels in Strawberry Village every Saturday with my kids; it’s become our weekend ritual. The bagels are fresh, chewy, and come in tons of flavors. We love the friendly, speedy service and the option to buy by the dozen. A top spot for bagel lovers in the area!“

“First time here. Ordered the pizza focaccia and the rosemary garlic focaccia. You can taste the aroma of the tomato sauce and the light texture of the bread. The sauce didn't make the bread soggy as I was thinking it would. The garlic/rosemary was my favorite of the two. For you garlic and rosemary lover, this is the one you must try. Fresh garlic taste with the awesome smell of the rosemary. This would go great with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. You need to go early before they get sold-out. I will be back for other selections.“

“Tried two scones (cherry corn per review suggestions and strawberry blackberry) and a coffee. Both were great, but I’m still thinking fondly about the strawberry blackberry scone - you could taste both berry flavors distinctly and they melded so nicely with the scone dough. Best berry scone I’ve ever had - I’ll be thinking about it for awhile.“

“Had a great experience at Maison Nico today! I ordered a Pain au Chocolat and matcha, and both exceeded my expectations. The Pain au Chocolat was beautifully made - so light and delicate with those perfect flaky, crispy layers on top that you expect from a well-crafted pastry.
What really stood out was their matcha. Finally found a place that serves it the proper way - no added sugar at all! It's refreshing to taste the pure, earthy flavor of quality matcha instead of the overly sweet versions you get at most cafes.
I was fortunate to walk in without a line, but within several minutes there was a steady stream of customers forming a queue. That's always a good sign that locals know this place is worth the wait. The quality of their pastries and attention to authentic preparation definitely shows. Will be back to try more items!“

“A very cozy place in the financial district. Even though we went on a weekend, there were still a lot of people working there. Their pour over coffee is reasonably priced and they also provide coffee beans in the shop. I like the paintings they have inside. The coffee also comes with a postcard telling us where the coffee beans come from and the history, which I think is very nice. If you like coffee, I recommend giving this place a try.“

“I ordered the strawberry shortcake for my daughters 2nd birthday and was delighted to pick up this beautifully decorated cake. She was so excited when we presented her cake and she loved the bee, lady bug, and butterfly decorations, which were an extra special touch added by the bakery! “I bought a mini day pass and took the opportunity to ride around town today with my mom. We came out to Dinner Richmond specifically to grab some pork buns. There was a line when we arrived and another when we left, so this place is popular. The person in front of me actually came from Sacramento to stock up. She got 6 dozen buns in total, including roast pork, pineapple custard and green onion. She said she preordered the day before since she was getting so many. So, I had high expectations. I ordered 10 pineapple and roast pork buns and asked for 1 to be set aside so Mom and I could sample it in the store. It was delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of the other buns or else I may have gotten some more. Next time....

“BEST pineapple bun hands down in the universe! And I'm Asian! Served warm and fresh from their oven, this bun is out of this world. Go pass the friendly old guys who are there all day, and a super nice lady behind the counter will give you the best .. did I mention BEST...pineapple bun!!

Also tried the other hot buns which were REALLY good, but the Pineapple bun is king!“

Let me be clear. These pastries? They're amazing. The taste? All I can say is this: walk over, order one, walk out, take a bite, and tell me if you didn't immediately turn around and go back for six more. It's that good. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a chocolate croissant with an espresso latte and I finished every sip and not a crumb was left behind. “One of my favorite bakeries in the city. The pastries here are all so unique with them all being Korean inspired. My favorites are the galbi and injeolmi croissants but you can't go wrong with any of the pastries here. If you do go here though I'd go as early as possible because they sell out of things fast. Coffee and tea here are great as well with the honeycomb toffee latte being a favorite of mine. The actual bakery itself looks very nice with a minimalist design but it's very small so they have you wait outside if you order a drink.“

“The best babka I've ever had. Incredible texture, chocolate quality, and baking skills on presentation here. I would go so far to say this babka is an achievement on the levels of the great SF bakeries (Tartine, Jane, b. patisserie). As an at home chef, I know how hard making things to scale can be and I commend the owner for scaling something this special.

Had a picnic with the babka pie, cake, and rolls. Cardamom, chocolate and hazelnut, and pumpkin. My personal favorite was the chocolate but everyone in my group had a different favorite. You can't go wrong at this wonderful bakery!“

“I've come here for over two decades now. I love to come here for the har gow. The best I've had anywhere hands down. The other dumplings are also really good as well as the congee. I wouldn't say the sweet pastries are all that good though. The staff are very efficient but minimal on the charm as is common with these kinds of places. Finally they brought back seating after many many years without it due to covid. Cash only.“

Be greedy. Eat and eat and eat. And, what is that one? Can I have one of those too? Eat more. When only one pie is left, don't say "you can have it" to the next person in line...give them some credit, they wouldnt have said it either.

Be spoiled. Never eat a Frenchish dessert at anything less than a Michelin listed restaurant ever again.

Be obnoxious. Tell all your friends "this is okay, but I know this Fren...". Watch their eyes roll. Roll your own eyes at their lava cakes and sacher tortes.

Be cold. It's the outer Richmond / Land's End region. Brrrrrrr.

Be glad you read this review now. The French Riviera is calling, and aint no one getting any younger, you know.

I grew up in the area but now live out of the country and my family has relocated to the east bay but I still make the 60 min drive all the way to Jelly Donut whenever I come to visit them. Ladies houses.

We stumbled across this bakery and were extremely pleased with the outcome.

I ordered coffee and a ham and cheese croissant, delicious. My husband ordered hot tea and the number 7 which was toast with hummus, cauliflower and something else (he forgot). He said all ingredients were fresh and it really delicious.

If you’re coming to Alamo park or to see the Painted Ladies houses, i definitely recommend coming here to pick up a quick bite and bringing it to Alamo park for a quick picnic. You will not be disappointed.“
