“Absolutely fantastic! The lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for. Literally! I'd take a bullet for them. Their business model and employee pay structure truly is inspiring and stands out in our Capitalistic land of greed and self-centeredness. Oh, and full brunch menu on a Friday afternoon?? Yes Please!“
“This is a restaurant I've been to numerous times and each time the space takes you somewhere special, a culinary journey really. Very upscale restaurant and environment. A perfect experience. The staff were all so awesome, fun group, and very professional as well. The food was incredible. The service is impeccable, presenting each dish to highlights it's freshness and meticulous construction. Highly recommend!“
“A beautiful blend of flavors and textures. I'm giving a 4 because it's my first time there and I'd like to see what's next on their seasonal menu.I went here for my birthday so my media has no labels. I was pleasantly surprised with each of the dish that we had. Each item had their own uniqueness to it and I love how original the flavor combos were. I personally like going to restaurants that have an assembly operation in front of you because it's cool to see how these dishes beautifully come together.I will say the dessert was a very refreshing yet satisfying touch. Hibiscus ice cream on top of a rose apple with a buttermilk foam. Like...just wow.Highly recommend for a special occasion or just treat yourself. Well done chef, I'll be coming back.“
“This place is a gem of a restaurant. Started at the bar with some wine and oysters. A great selection of super fresh oysters were available.Dinner was delightful. Great Cesar salad, bread and butter was so good, and the roast chicken is worth the hour wait. Wonderfully crafted cocktails were consumed and enjoyed.Highly recommend this spot“
“My friend, Mike, who lives nearby with his wife, raved about it so much that my BF and I decided to come after a short trip to Marin. It was everything that he described and more. It was fantastic! Excellent food and atmosphere. Will definitely add to my list of favorites and will recommend to my Palo Alto friends!“
“Hands down THE best croissant in San Francisco. But they have so much more than that. Pates, quiches, desserts - and they all look so Parisian. Walking in is an exercise in self control. But the good news is, if you do cave in, it’s worth it!“
“This is one of my favorites in the Marina. Constantly very high quality food. I almost don’t want to review it because I don’t want it to get too crowded. They are very close to getting a Michelin star! Omg get the pavlova for desert. Their fish is amazing too.“
“I cannot even begin to describe how amazing our experience was at Cote Ouest. I flew to San Francisco to surprise my girlfriend to propose to her. And the service and accommodations I received here was superb. The owner of the restaurant is so friendly and personable. And he made sure I had everything I needed for our engagement meal. The staff are kind and attentive. The food here on point. Aromatic, fragrant and exciting. The atmosphere is very cute, romantic, and even slightly homey. You won't feel out of place here. They have a great variety of seating. Indoors and outdoors. All in all I would highly recommend. My fiancée and I will be returning without a doubt“
“L'Ardoise is an absolutely charming French bistro in a residential area, an easy block or so walk from the Market-Sanchez muni/bus stop. The food was simply wonderful from start to finish. Appetizers: tiger prawn ravioles and escargot in crispy potato cups. Entrees: coq au vin and duck leg confit. Desserts: Valrhona chocolate fondant and floating island (meringue) in caramel sauce with creme anglaise. Lovely wine selection to go along with anything you choose. Our server, Raoul was truly kind, helpful, and attentive without being over-solicitous. You really should make reservations, but if you're in the area, stop in and give it a shot--they also do takeaway, if you can't get a seat. ALL the stars to L'Ardoise!!“
“This has become our go-to cake for our birthdays, and we love it! The chocolate imperial cake is our favorite and it is a chocoholics dream. I never share it with anyone because it so darn tasty! It is pricier than a lot of other cake places, but well worth the money for a special occasion.“
“In just two short months, it's already my third visit to this restaurant. This restaurant is a great choice for a date, not only because the food is delicious, but also because the overall dining atmosphere is particularly pleasant.I highly recommend their fries, which are not too salty and fried to perfection, very tasty, and you can feel the chef's delicate craftsmanship. The steak is cooked to perfection and I highly recommend it as well. The chocolate soufflé dessert has a moderate sweetness, with a slightly bitter chocolate flavor, and is accompanied by banana ice cream, which is a truly beautiful combination.“
“Love what Phillipe and Helen have built over the last 28 years - a great bistro with top-notch food, wine and service. Low key, within a classic tradition of excellence, Chapeau! is a gem. A must try, which leads to adoption as a fav. Sweetbreads, cod, beef filet - all superbly prepared and presented. Deserts are something else. The “pain perdu” (French toast) was a find - must confess I would not have chosen it, but its accompanying hazelnut sauce was the perfect complement for this French classic. Love this bistro.“
“Have loved this place since it opened and though we live in the south bay, whenever we're in SF, we can always rely on this place because the food is always very fresh and innovative, the service is relaxed and unobtrusive, and the convenience to get back home is a quick 5 minutes to the freeway home and we're back in Los Gatos in 50 minutes after a day in SF. We've tried just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed.“
“Second time since 2021. While price has increased it still offers one of the best value in the area for tasting menu. Most of the courses are on point and creative. my favorite is the jidoji egg. The tortellini is a bit bland, but still good. I like that the atmosphere is intimate and unassuming.“
“Attention vegans: I called ahead of time and they were happy to prepare a fully vegan tasting menu! (It was essentially the vegetarian one with modifications.)The service was immaculate, the culinary journey was exquisite, and never once did the staff or experience disappoint. The courses were described, brought out in perfect timing, and presented and plated incredibly.I did not once think I was getting a subpar experience because I got a vegan tasting menu. Everything was crafted with care and obvious passion. You absolutely get what you pay for—and price you pay may be a barrier to entry for some. All in all, this is the perfect anniversary or special occasion spot to take your loved one or special friends.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian tasting menu. Call or email to ensure you are able to request a vegan tasting menu.“
“Was a tad skeptical at first because this restaurant was located in the lobby of the Hyatt and because I sat in the lounge instead of the main dining room, but could not be more impressed. Service was fantastic, atmosphere was incredible with live piano performance, the cocktails were deep, complex, interesting, and innovative, and the food was astounding.Of all things at a French restaurant I chose to have the burger as my main entree and it very well may have actually been the best burger I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone staying at the Hyatt or close by!“
“Great service, love the French touches including the art, the copper counter at the bar and the idea of sitting outdoors with many wondering and stores to peek into. I ordered a Nicoise salad and was so disappointed to bite into crunchy sliced potatoes. Crunchy lettuce is a yes but not the potatoes.“
“The food is SO good. My husband had the crepe sarrasine with lamb sausage and he instantly fell in love. I had the chicken shawarma and added caramelized onions. Everything about it was so flavorful. We decided to top it off with the lemon crepe - I think I died and went to heaven. If we lived closer, I would probably need an intervention. The outside seating was clean and quaint and the service was great. When we come back to the city, I will definitely be stopping in again!“
“One of our most memorable dining experiences ever. The creativity on the presentation and the ingredients were mind blowing. We also tried the wine pairing which was on point with all the dishes, and would definitely recommend to anyone doing the tasting menu. The service also was impeccable, with zero complaints. We will definitely be back when we return to San Francisco.“
“A bite of Paris in the heart of Downtown SF. Breads are fresh, meats are plenty, and the love in the preparation of the food is felt at each table. The menu was as joy to browse over to see what I will come back to get next. Thank you Chef Michael for the wonderful meal!“
“If there is one positive thing came from the pandemic, it is Philippe Delarue’s ingenious idea to open up a bake shop here in front of his flat. It’s one of my favorite places to invite friends on Saturday or Sunday morning. You can’t go wrong with any of his goods, but my personal favorite is the bread pudding. Delarue will generously add his “adults only” whiskey sauce upon ordering. He is too humble to bring up the story himself, but ask him about his journey here – including stints in Le Mans, Paris, London, and Montreal. I can’t locate the article anymore but I think he once had the honor of baking for the queen! ☺️“
“Beautiful European style coffee shop service fresh salads, sandwiches, and pastry. I went in today and the hospitality was amazing. Coffee properly done in the espresso machine and Callí (?) was so helpful. If I worked in the area, I’d go everyday. Their ham cheese croissant was so nice. It really felt like I was in Paris or Rome.“
“We made a brunch reservation to have the tea service, but were pulled away into the savory menu options. We started with the viennoiserie and moved into poached eggs, which were cooked to four minute perfection (our request). Everything we had was great, and the service and atmosphere were lovely.“
“This was a real gem. Inside this cozy , authentic French bistro , get brought right to Paris! We enjoyed authentic dishes, extremely attentive and charming service , and had a lovely dinner pre- Cirque de Soleil at Oracle Park. Tasty dinner and impeccable service. I'll schlep from Oakland to come again and again . Truly great experience .“
“First time as we had our Christmas day prix fix dinner, which was a great value. We enjoyed not only the food, had very attentive service from check in to our waiter Justin, who was terrific. Will definitely go back so I can try the Beef Wellington!“
“Came here for a friends birthday and really enjoyed the experience! The waiter was extremely friendly and fun and the live jazz music was also a plus. Everyone loved the wine selection (wine flight being the most popular) and the food was also delicious. The highlight of the menu was definitely the pistachio goat cheese with caramelized onions and honey!“
“Creperie Saint Germain had served crepes for us at our company and it was such a success. They had a lot of options for me which is not usually the case since I have gluten-free restricted diet. Their crepes are awesome, the crepe bar was a great idea to have in the office. And the holiday theme was looking awesome.“
“Came here on a rainy day and was surprised to see it packed. Seems like a popular work from home spot, which also means quite hard getting a seat on a weekday especially during lunch. The french onion soup was flavored, but dare I say a little too much cheese that most of my scoops were just hardened globs of cheese. Cappuccino was delicious and so was the pastry! Would come in again but this time take it to go and eat outside near the park :)“
“This is a long overdue review for one of my favorite wine bars in the city. Wonderful relaxed ambiance, great list of comprehensive yet approachable wines by the glass, and exceptional service. Special shoutout to Jason who is always so kind and accommodating :)“
“Very excellent food all around! Pretty reasonably priced with a tasting menu of $55! I loved EVERYTHING! we had the bread, tuna, duck and each of the desserts. The duck with marrow was especially delicious!! The Ceasar was elevated and crunchy.Atmosphere is very small and cozy, which is not super great when there is a large table of 12 next to you which was incredibly loud and kind of awkward when you're trying to talk and someone else is giving a speech so I felt like we had to leave earlier. Same for the couple next to us.Also, when asking for a box to go, make sure you specify what you want because they did not box everything up, which is a shame because I had a lot leftover( they did not give me the greens or anything under the duck , only leftover duck leg and marrow which barely anything lol.)Will definitely come back nonetheless.“
“Fun, great food, European type of service, and a really fun atmosphere. Love the French Onion soup on a cold night. Only complaint, their baguette is quite expensive, though absolutely delicious and served with really great butter. Wine is priced in line with most restaurants in Marin, so not ordering a lot of wine during our visits.Would highly recommend Amélie.“
“A California menu by chef Crenn sounds familiar? This time it comes with no Michelin star though. Petit Crenn is kind of a more simplistic and less expensive version of Atelier Crenn. The highlights of the menu are the onion tart and the trout. I believe that chef Crenn is the master of sourcing and cooking fish the French way at this point. I wish they had given us bread for the asparagus though. The sauce was simply divine. The sommelier is a big part of the experience here too. She was really fun and entertaining. Overall, another amazing experience from chef Crenn's team.“
“This was a truly wonderful and exceptional experience. My husband and I could not have asked for a better birthday celebration. The staff was so warm and welcoming and attentive and the food and wine was, of course, incredible. It was a one-of-a-kind evening that we’ll cherish.“
“Classic French dishes were on par or better than those we enjoyed in Paris recently at 4.5+ rated restaurants, particularly the rabbit, a standout that all five of us agreed was the dish of the night. Duck and fish were very good. Service was very attentive, personable and fun, especially Jean Francois who had us laughing and provided excellent recommedations. Escargot was possibly the best we've had. White Meursault Burgundy wine was also exceptional. Dessert soufflé gran marnier was delicious (we finished 3 of them!) Entrance was through the Cornell Hotel de France, very pretty and clean, greeted at the door. We didn't feel rushed at all. We also visited the very lively Starlite Room cocktail lounge nearby after dinner and parked in the Union Square garage about 1.5 blocks away. Happy to see how much cleaner and safer this large parking garage is from 18 months ago. Strong security presence on every floor and at entrances, no more odors or trash. Felt very safe even leaving near 11 pm. Nightlife was hopping.“
“Came here and got wine and bunch of food. Favorite was the mushroom and mussels appetizers. The mac & duck was more mac than any duck but was still good. I wouldn't get it again though. Their fries are super crispy and delicious. Loved the vibe and ambiance. Super European and cozy. The serving time was long but didn't mind it since I wasn't in any rush.“
“Chez Maman EastHospitality - 4/5Selection - 4/5Quality of Food - 4/5Overall - 4/5Had a quick round table in the city, and asked the local’s where a great spot was for a nice meal. Chez Maman East was the answer and they did not disappoint. My colleague and I were welcomed in and seated right away. It was early, so they weren’t too busy. The waiter was quick to serve us and was very informative. Even suggested a few items they were known for. My colleague took his suggestion and got the Sole. He was very happy he took the suggestion. It was cooked beautifully and had great flavor. To the point he licked the plate clean!I chose the bell pepper soup and their famous burger. The soup was delightful and fit perfect on this rainy day. The burger was everything everyone had told me. The burger was cooked correctly, juicy, and tender. The add-ons were just icing on the cake.If we were to suggest anything to the restaurant to improve on, it would be have fresh bread. The baguette we ordered was dry and like chewing leather. Went great with the soup, but by itself was not enjoyable.Overall, we would return to try the rest of the menu.Parking: Just your standard street parking. Might have to walk a little once you park.“
“We went on Valentine's Day but we went very early, 4:30 pm. We loved the French onion soup, the Moules et Frites and the Cafe Bastille salad. Good wine selection, full bar. The service was excellent partly because we were early but they had plenty of servers waiting for the crowd that was booked to arrive.“
“I was looking to make a reservation for 10 on OpenTable and stumbled upon this cute restaurant! They serve a 3 course meal every day from 4-5:30 for $25. What a great value for SF! The food was delicious! I loved the shrimp pasta and the salad. The sea salt gelato was delicious too. My friends had a fun time and we will definitely be back! Street parking close to the panhandle. Staff was so friendly and service was excellent ??“
“For me. Solid 4.5. Went back with my family. Really enjoyed the food. My son enjoyed the burrata appetizer. I enjoyed my salad. I really enjoyed the gnocchi. My son had the orecchiette and enjoyed it. My wife and daughter had the fired chicken and both like it. Quaint little place. Try it.“
“The restaurant is well located and it has both open and interior areas. The stuff was so gentle. They made me feeling home, either no pressure or negative vibes.Coming to food I believe its quality is way above the average. I ordered an hamburger, a super testy creme brûlée, a nice Nutella crepe and an affogato (unlikely offered by similar restaurants).Go check it out.Highly recommended!Mercieeee“
“Finally made the visit the other day & the treats did not disappoint! store front is small & is just a checkout counter with the menu, no where to sit if you had that in mind. staff was kind & quick. rose is sweet & floral flavor fluffy light chocolate flavor not overpowering strawberry is sweet & tangy, flavorful favorite caramel is perfect for caramel lovers brownie hit the spot & cannel was good“
“What a pleasure to be able to take a tasty break in this place! There we met two extremely kind and attentive employees with whom I was able to talk about their country and who showed very delicate attention to us! in addition to very good quality products, we were able to appreciate an extraordinary sense of hospitality! Well done ! We will come back with great pleasure!Kid-friendliness: yes obviously with excellent products“
“Lors de notre séjour à San Francisco nous avons découvert Le Marais Bakery. Nous avons ADORÉ, la nourriture est délicieuse et le service vraiment très chaleureux et très professionnel. L’équipe est souriante et au petit soin. N’hésitez pas à vous arrêter pour déguster les délicieuses viennoiseries et/ou les autres plats proposés, vous ne serez pas déçu(e)s!!“
“This is my neighborhood bakery it's the BEST and I basically go every morning. My go to is the Pain Suisse, delicious ? my daughter's favorite is the chocolate croissant, and my son's all about the morning bun. The staff is so friendly anf welcoming you must visit.“
“Such a great experience! Bar Crenn feels like a speakeasy when you walk in - the decor, bar setup and retro record player make it seem like an oasis. Onto the food: my favorite dish was their Bafun Uni dish which is a congee topped with Hokkaido uni. It's not often that Uni is served on a hot dish and the blend of flavors/cuisines Chef Crenn executes in this dish are super intriguing. I also got their oysters served 3 ways and the XO Scallops. The staff here is excellent. Carlos and Chris were really welcoming. Chris even showed me around Atelier Crenn next door. I'll definitely have to come back for their tasting. Thank again!“
“Just had dinner there with my lover last week or so. The staff including the owner are a riot once you get past the phony Gruff exterior who's the name is Stefan. I don't know if I've got the spelling right, so if you're reading this, S, get over it! Seriously: thanks for letting us in, I mean, genuinely welcomed in. Will be back again soon!“
“My cousin celebrated her birthday here this past weekend and my family had a great dinner here! Our party of 9 took up most of the main dining room and every other table was taken up by the time of our 6:15pm reservation. I was able to park in the lot next to the restaurant, but it's definitely small so you might have to park in the neighborhoods nearby. The interior is very cozy and intimate and the ambiance is perfect for a date night or birthday celebration. It was a pre-fixe 3 course meal for $65 each person including a starter, entrée, and dessert. I got the escargot, filet mignon, and the crème brulee. We started with warm bread and butter, and the appetizer came out in a timely manner given how large our party was. The escargot was tender and swimming in herby and garlicky melted butter, which was perfect to dip the bread into. I wish there was slightly more salt in the sauce, since it was rich but was lacking a bit of flavor. I haven't had escargot for many years, so this was surprisingly better than I remembered it to be. The entrees came out in a couple rounds, but everyone got their food within 5 minutes. The filet mignon was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked to a medium rare. It came with a peppercorn sauce, potato gratin, broccolini, and an herbed butter on top. The potato gratin was okay, I wish the potatoes were sliced a little thinner and was a little more tender. The peppercorn sauce was tasty, but I don't think the filet mignon necessarily needed it. The broccolini was cooked with garlic and lemon, and was a nice light side to the heavier main and sauce. We brought a bottle of red wine for the table, and it was so good with the filet. For dessert, I had the crème brulee and the custard was smooth and had great vanilla flavor. The caramelized sugar on top was crisp and not too thick. I also tried the mango panna cotta which was very smooth and had a great mango sauce. Overall, it was a great meal here and I would definitely come back. I had enough leftovers for a second meal, so the pre-fixe menu was definitely worth the price. Great service, nice ambiance, and solid food!“
“One of my favorite restaurants! Best hangar steak I've ever had anywhere! This is the 5th time I've eaten at Isa's, and everything both my friends and I have ordered has been great. Vegetables are uniformly wonderful; the bread is perfectly warm and toasted with just the right amount of butter, every time!. Everything is fresh! Service is attentive and unobtrusive. quiet front room, lovely back patio.“
“Reviews are consistent with the experience. The food was so good, every single dish was inventive, hearty, and non-pretentious. Good mix of flavors and food and I can tell they out a lot of thought into inventive recipes. I saw one bad review on this place and I must say that is not accurate at all. Staff was super friendly, checking on us constantly, food and wine were perfect. Very unexpected pleasant experience as it's not pretentious yet the food was amazing. Good job!“
“This garage in Sausalito is an incredible place, the whole team and Bruno the boss will take you on a journey to the best neighborhood bar in France. Just passing through for an evening I enjoyed a unique moment around the pleasure of eating and drinking France in the broad sense. Thank you for keeping this kind of place alive which clearly deserves to take a break!“
