“Spent time on a study abroad in Japan and after coming back I was desperate to find some of the comfort food I had over there. The only Japanese place that I have eaten at in Colorado to date that provides a truly authentic menu has been Osaka's. Okonomiyaki is a rare treat in the states and I love every bit of what they serve. I can without a doubt say that this is the best Japanese restaurant that I have been to outside of Japan.Prices are a little high, but that is par for the course for Boulder.I try to eat here every time I find myself in Boulder.“
“The best sushi in Boulder. I guarantee. The green mochi with strawberry in the center was one of the best desserts i think I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The service was super nice, and the atmosphere was top?, highly recommend going out to dinner here. They deserve all the attention! On a fall night their service and the miso soup warmed my heart and my soul!!!Thanks for the amazing food sushi chefs, I never thought I would be so stunned by fish this far from an ocean!“
“I love Aoi, the food and service is always superb. The staff is always very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The quality of the fish is great, the rice has good flavor and is cooked perfectly, and the ratios in the sushi are always perfect as well. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here.“
“Hapa definitely has some of the best sushi in Boulder. I made a reservation for last night, which I highly recommend on weekends. The wait was over an hour and it was packed. ?However we were seated right away which was nice. We had some appetizers, sashimi, an orgasm roll and 4 of the happy hour sushi rolls. Between my friend and I it was $77 plus tip. I thought that was really affordable for some delicious sushi. The service was also great as always and we didn’t wait long for our food. Definitely a place I would recommend to a lot of people!“
“I almost don't want to write a positive review of this place because I love it so much and I want it to stay a hidden gem! Their lunch special is unbeatable for anywhere but is especially a good value on the hill. The food is always very fresh, delcious, and affordable. The staff is super friendly and food comes out really fast. This is the perfect lunch stop near CU and it is always quiet and lowkey. Highly recommended.“
“My wife and I love Japango and I had lunch with a friend who hadn't been in years. It was a great experience all round. The staff is always awesome and helpful, the food is always delightful as the flavors dance across your palate. Always our go to for special occasions to.“
“My friend and I went on a Tuesday around 4pm. We were the only two in there. Pricy but food was delicious! $14 for 6 sushi rolls. Great service. Very clean and tidy. Has a nice view of the mountains. Perfect spot to stop while shopping at Pearl Street Mall. Had indoor and outdoor space.“
“I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years and have always loved it though I’ve noticed a bit of a downturn recently since new management has taken over. The food is still good but it seems to be veering away from more traditional sushi to a more “fusion” type menu, which is a bit frustrating since there are already numerous sushi restaurants in the area that do that. I was particularly upset that my favorite roll, the z-9 has been “improved” in a way that makes it pretty much exactly the same as the #9 roll at any other sushi restaurant. The service is still excellent but a little disappointed in the direction the food’s going considering many of the menu staples have been kept intact for as long as I’ve been coming here until this year.“
“Title: The Great Wall of MayoSo, I embarked on a culinary journey at Motomaki, and little did I know it would turn into the Great Wall of Mayo! My bowl arrived looking like it had just survived a mayo storm – I half-expected to see a tiny mayo lifeboat floating in there. But hold your horses because here's the twist – the moment I spilled the mayo beans (literally), the staff transformed! Apologies rained down faster than a mayo downpour, and they whisked away my overly mayoed creation, promising a mayo-balanced masterpiece in return. The customer service at Motomaki was great – they handled the mayo mayhem professional and with fast responses.“
“I love this place. I haven't been in person yet, but have ordered delivery a few times. It's always SUPER fast, and the orders are always right. I put in the notes that I am sick, so to leave it at my front door, and the employee included an egg roll and sesame ball for me. That made my day. 10/10 would recommend this place!“
“I was recently at a multi-day conference at the University of Colorado Boulder and I came across Bento-ria nestled over at the Hill in Boulder. What immediately stood out to me was the delectable Japanese cuisine with affordability and a warm, family and student-friendly atmosphere. Conveniently located right next to campus, I decided to give Bento-ria a try after reading and hearing good things about this charming eatery, which is apparently a favorite among locals and students alike. And guess what? It did not disappoint! I ended up eating lunch there three days straight.Bento-ria's menu boasts a delightful array of Japanese dishes, but I always ordered the Miso Soup, Salmon Rolls, and Spicy Buff Rolls. Because it was my first time visiting Colorado and I came at a time when it was super cold, the Miso Soup really helped me out as it warmed my soul. The Spicy Buff Rolls are a spicy seafood lover's dream come true. The melt-in-your-mouth tuna, coupled with a perfect blend of spicy mayo, eel sauce, and crunchy onion flakes, created a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. Equally impressive were the Salmon Rolls, featuring succulent, fresh salmon enveloped in perfectly seasoned rice and nori. Each bite was fantastic, to say the least! Can I just say how I really respect Bento-ria's prices that will not break the bank? The affordability of its menu is particularly noteworthy for students and budget-conscious diners. Generous portion sizes and reasonable prices made it easy for me to indulge in a satisfying meal without sacrificing flavor or quality. However, what truly set Bento-ria apart was the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by this family-run establishment. The staff, who are warm and personable, made me feel like I was dining in their own home. The cashier was even kind enough to recommend nice places for me to check out around the Boulder area. Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, the staff's genuine enthusiasm and dedication to customer satisfaction made each dining experience memorable.Every time I was there, it seemed Bento-ria was the go-to spot for students seeking a delicious and convenient dining option. The sushi restaurant's location makes it an ideal choice for a quick lunch between classes or a relaxing dinner after a long day of studying. The accessibility of Bento-ria adds an extra layer of appeal, making it a hub for both locals and the academic community. As a local favorite and a haven for students, Bento-ria is a must-visit destination that effortlessly combines quality, affordability, and a welcoming atmosphere.Simply put, if you want the best bang for your buck then Bento-ria is THE place to eat.“
