“A Boulder Must-Visit

Every time I’m in the Boulder area, I have to stop at Dushanbe Tea House! Whether it’s for lunch, dinner, dessert, or simply tea, this place is truly special.

The setting is absolutely beautiful, especially if you can sit near the water fountain, the Seven Beauties, or at one of the incredibly unique tables. This is a place where you want to slow down, take your time, and enjoy the experience.

And the tea menu is amazing! From the Energizing Tea to the Strength & Spirit, there are pages and pages of teas that read almost like a wine list you’d find at an exceptional restaurant. There’s something for every mood.

Now, the food… OMG! The food is out of this world. Everything I’ve tried has been spectacular. On this visit, I had the Uruguay Chivito sandwich (and no, there’s no chivo in it 😊) — just wonderfully seasoned steak, incredibly flavorful and delicious. I also tried the Guanajuato small plate with black bean tortillas, and it was absolutely amazing!

And the staff… amazing! They took the time to explain everything, answered all my questions, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Dushanbe Tea House is so much more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. Beautiful surroundings, incredible tea, spectacular food, and wonderful service. Every visit feels like a treat, and I can’t wait for my next one! ❤“

“What can one say about Boxcar that hasn’t already been said - the coffee (espresso in my case) is the best in Boulder and the pastries are the best in the state. That’s all great, but what most reviewers are hesitant to bring up is that the, yes super friendly, staff takes an almost manic pride in delivering an un-rushed customer experience, to the point of noticeably longer than industry standard wait times, not only for the queue (exorbitant chit chat at checkout), and drink preparation (ostensibly in pursuit of high product quality), and most oddly; whisper-volume name callouts for completed orders, as if speaking the guest’s name audibly above the noise of the shop would imply impatience. Does any of this make me come to this shop less? No. We can love a thing when its virtues outnumber its flaws.“

“Our first time dining at this place though we have wanted to go for a while after someone posted about it after they opened. Finally made it and glad we made reservations as it was packed since it was peak time Friday evening. Spoke with Koji-san, the owner, while we were waiting for our table and he also stopped by each table to check on them which we thought was great. We had the takoyaki, kaisen-mix okonomiyaki and the spicy miso ramen. All came within a reasonable amount of time and were delicious! Koji-san explained the background of offering takoyaki, which was so interesting and great for him to share. We will definitely be back to try the other menu items, esp their sushi, which looked delicious! Great to see a business busy and doing well!“

“What a find in Boulder! 🌱 We loved Lotus Moon so much that we ended up going twice in two days.

The Banh Mi sandwich was SO good, fresh, flavorful, and easily one of my favorites from the trip. And then came the Black Bean Brownie… OMG. I genuinely wasn’t expecting it to be that good. Rich, chocolatey, and absolutely delicious.

“First time there and now I know why people rave about it! The service is fantastic, first of all. The food selection is limited and basic Mexican fare, however, the quality, preparation, and taste are incredible! I had the steak fajitas and I don't think I've ever had a better fajita steak...so tender and flavorful. The rice, black beans, and fajita fixings are ok, pretty basic. The tortilla soup was amazing! And the churros with the dulce whip...divine! Pricing is fair!“

I was so surprised to see an authentic Chinese menu and the pork intestine noodle is amongst the best I have ever had. The slice I got was a nice thin crust w/lots of spicy sausage & pepperoni. It had the right level of spice, cheese, & oil. The Caesar has a nice dressing. Convenient location. It’s easy to park. The staff is kind! The bathroom is clean. Open kitchen to see them put the pizzas in. I highly recommend them! There are vegetarian options & thicker crust in some styles available.“

“They made my dream sandwich. It was a toasted turkey croissant. Best I've ever had. The way it tasted being toasted was incredible. I had come from out of town, partly to find one. Usually, restaurants are out of that bread by the time I get there.The cashier was accommodating and sweet. I've been planning a special day to go back, then hike, then go back for another meal. “What a cool spot! The menu has a vast array of items and throughly explains the benefits of each one. The place is cozy with plenty of seating and overall has great vibes. The gentleman working was informative, attentive, and was able to answer any questions we had.

My partner and I had hot tea, a tonic, and did a 20 minute infused oxygen session.

“My friend and I went here for Valentine's Day. We hadn't made plans because we weren't celebrating the holiday, so we had no reservations. The place was packed. The hosts were busy coordinating reservations that went as late as past 11 pm, as they were open until midnight. They were kind in their greeting and offered us space at the bar, if we could find it. We couldn't. As the wait time was over an hour and a half, we left to go somewhere else but decided to return a little later to check back at the bar. We found some seats that had just been cleared, so we saddled up for a chill time with chopsticks and great ambiance. We were greeted by the friendliest, most energetic bartender I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with while dining out, much less when a place is that busy. She had a smile for miles as she walked us through bar suggestions featuring her alcohol favorites. The reason we rallied to try again at Hapa was that my friend has a serious gluten issue with his severe celiac disease and has never had a problem with their dedicated menu. The gluten-free menu is extensive for such a specialized diet, automatically paired with their gluten-free soy sauce. Since we were sharing our samplings of sushi, sashime, salad, and sake, I went ahead and ordered from that menu as well. I didn't taste any difference in my experience. Our servings were well-timed with salad, main dishes, accompanying sake and wine... and, again, our awesome bartender sharing company with us, a truly gifted gal of service. If I tried to recommend this place more, I'd sound silly. That said, thank you for one of the best Valentine's Day, un-Valentines evenings I've ever had! We left happy with our choice for the night and full in our bellies!“

“The Illegal Pete’s Hill location is always a fun spot, whether you’re grabbing food with friends or stopping by for a quick bite. The staff are super cool as well. The food is great too, and the burritos are a really good portion for the price—they’re filling and packed with flavor. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out, get good food, and enjoy a fun atmosphere and in my opinion is better then Chipotle.“
