“This place is the best restaurant outside of Naples Italy. My wife and I have been to Naples many times and Zenelli’d reminds us so much of the restaurants in Naples.”
“@shellandbonesoysterbarandgrill ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful birthday party with my beloved wife. Her request this time was seafood, and I indulged her with this excellent decision. I highly recommend it. Especially the BOUILLABAISE 49 Scallops + Mussels + Manila Clams + Rock Shrimp + Black Bass in their red sauce was delicious! The salmon and the kids' meal were good, even though it was a Monday, the place and the bar had a great atmosphere. Food: BOUILLABAISE $49 Scallops + Mussels + Manila Clams + Rock Shrimp + Black Bass (It was delicious, my darling) SALMON WITH PEPITA COVER $40* Spiced Pumpkin Puree + Broccoli Rabe + Tomatillo Green Sauce DRINKS: Mojitos Margaritas We're almost there; An excellent place, we loved it so much that we made a reservation through Opentable, which never fails. I recommend going to Bajada del Sol. I highly recommend it. Shell & Bones Oyster Bar and Grill”
“It's going into our rotation of favorite restaurants on Wooster! Food, service, everything was amazing. My only 2 critiques was there wasn't enough heat in the Fra Diablo sauce or my expresso. But I'm going back. Love it there.”
“The staff was incredible! The food was amazing and the drinks were very tasty. Most definitely recommend and will be back.”

“As soon as you arrive you are greeted with a glass of prosecco then you take in the exquisite architecture. The staff then escort you to your table and you're given a menu which is simple but you know right then and there the food is going to be outstanding and it was the service was excellent each dish that they brought out was delicious. The sauces had such great flavor. I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a culinary experience.”
“My husband and I ordered online and were pleasantly surprised by both the price and how great the food was! The service was excellent as well. We had to call to add a few items to our order, and the person who answered was friendly and very helpful. Overall, a great experience—we will definitely be returning customers!”
“Stopped into Brick Oven as a suggestion from my high school buddy who lives in New Haven. Will be a place I frequent going forward in my travels to New Haven. The pizza was great but the customer service was even greater.. The owner actually took the time to converse with us and to have good pizza and good customer service puts this spot high on my list of places to go period. Da prez”

“This is the tenth person I put on to this place. He was sooooo in love with the margarita pizza. Usually I get the shrimp pesto (my favorite) but I didn’t want to scare him. You would’ve thought he was going crazy while eating. Thank for the many years I’ve came it turned out perfect :)”
“I had an amazing opportunity to cater a wedding of two great friends at The Brewery. I don't have enough great things to say about the place. The building and its grounds are amazing, the brewery its self is gorgeous. Attention to detail is above par in all aspects. The Brewery room and tap room one of the best i've seen. The upstairs in sophisticated and approachable. The husband and wife owners are wonderful and they way they attend to their guests and bar none. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed and their beer is AWESOME”

“Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit today, the food was delicious and the service EXCEPTIONAL. Thank you for offering the GLUTEN-FREE injera and all of the creative vegetarian dishes... we loved the fresh and flavorful salads (Key Sir Selata and the Timatim Fitfit), then had the best Ater Kik and Tikel Gomen I have ever had in my life! We will definitely return, and highly recommend to anyone in search of authentic Ethiopian cuisine!”
“My fiancé and I absolutely love Casanova! As someone who is a bit of a picky eater at times, I can confidently say that the food here is delicious and well balanced.
The ambience is great - classy, elegant, and not overwhelmingly packed on most nights, meaning that you can enjoy conversation with your meal and take a break from New Haven’s bustling energy.
And, to top it off, all the staff here are lovely and attentive! 10/10 recommend stopping by!”
“I can only say that this place surprised me a lot, everything is organic and prepared instantly. The flavors in each bite are unique, no sugar, no gluten, no processed flours. And the spectacular attention there is a lot of healthy information in each dish. I’m definitely going back.”
“Rating is based solely on the grocery store as we did not try the wine bar yet. The grocery store is a little gem. Unique with a coffee bar, great selection of authentic japanese grocery items at fair prices. Very clean and well organized. Friendly staff. We plan to go back soon and try out the rest of the place!”
“I had to review on Facebook because I already posted a Google review. I am obsessed with this place and the staff and the food. I came two nights in a row for my birthday (one night with family and the other night with friends). My waitresses were Mia and Jade. They were sensational!!! Mia was amazing and remembered I ordered the chocolate dipped strawberries for the next evening and made sure to have them prepared and ready to go. Jade went above and beyond for my birthday bringing me beautifully decorated plates. They made my birthday weekend so special!! I miss the Darien location in the sense that it wasn’t this easily accessible haha. They will get tired of seeing my face (especially at happy hour!)”
“I dined at Rawa one time but I recomme the lamb chops, pita, spicy chicken wings, chicken breast on a bed of lentils.”
“We had a fantastic meal at Caffe Bravo! We ordered the arancini and buratta for appetizers. The arancini reminded me of what you get from an authentic, local Napolitan eatery in Italy. The buratta was creamy and super fresh. For dinner we had freshly made gnocchi , the linguine and vongole, and the grigliata di mare. The gnocchi were like fluffy pillows that were made moments before getting to our table. The homemade linguine was perfectly cooked with plenty of clams. And the seafood was grilled to perfection with a tasty farro rice as a side. And then for dessert we had the homemade tiramisu and chocolate lava cake that put us over the edge. Can’t wait to go back and bring friends so they can experience for themselves. 💯 🇮🇹 #caffebravo #forzanapoli”
“We didn't even know it was a jewish/kosher place when we stopped in, until we saw some of the other customers. We weren't sure it was the place for us but left happy. The 2 of us shared our plates: The burger was very good & much fresher than a lot of other places. The hot & sweet chicken sandwich w/ candied jalapenos was excellent. The french fries could maybe have used a little more salt but that's just my preference; they were nicely crispy on the outside & I really liked the garlic mayo that came w/ them (Husband stuck with the ketchup). The service was prompt & friendly. No complaints about that at all. Restaurant prices are all crazy high nowadays. So I'd have to say their prices were reasonable for high-end sandwiches. It's a nice, homey p[lace. I'd recommend it even if you're not a jew.”

“Love their themed nights. Overall clean when I've gone. One memorable time my friend wasn't feeling well so we went outside. You're not allowed to bring drinks outside obviously, but when I asked the door guy if I could go get a cup of water he brought a bottle out to us. I'm very thankful”

“Epic Cupcakes. The ladies here are beyond awesome and were very helpful. I decided to do Cupcakes for my mom's birthday instead of a Cake this year and we are all very happy we did it this way! Everything was simply amazing...and again, the ladies that helped me out were just super-pleasant and nice, they even sent me to a local deli which was equally as awesome!”

“Do you want the best in Japanese fare (including whiskey) and the friendliest, most knowledgeable service? Then come eat (and drink) here, at the original Hachiroku!”

“What a warm and wholesome vibe, and very authentic middle eastern food! The staff is so friendly and the Arabic coffee wakes me up like nothing else. Even being a customer at Havenly makes you a part of their commendable mission - to create space for international cultures”
“My husband surprised me with a Princess cake. I mentioned I’d love to try one after seeing it in a baking show. He searched online and Marjolaine’s was the only place he could find. He drove over an hour to pick it up and it was well worth the drive! We just picked up a Dacquoise. This one was a request from our daughter. We tried a smaller version that was in the case. It was absolutely delicious! So light and airy and the flavor was divine! We are driving this cake all the way to NC and are 100% certain that our daughter will be thrilled ! We are heading back in the beginning of April for a Marjolaine for our daughter in law. It is well worth the trip!!!”
“Catering Party @ Sally’s Apizza Fairfield On Saturday September 13, 2025, we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The food, service and staff were phenomenal. We all know how great the pizza is, but the appetizers and salads were equally great. I can’t say enough about the wonderful servers, Dan and Brandon. There were efficient, kind, friendly and polite. They went out of their way to insure everyone was having a great time. The bartenders and other staff went a long way to help make everyone enjoy the party. I also want to thank the General Manager, James Layfield and the Catering Manager, Helen Blanchard for their exceptional service and hospitality. Sally’s Apizza @ Fairfield deserves a 5 star rating for making our event the success it was. Thanks so much”

“We just used Est Pizza for my daughters graduation party. They did a fantastic job. All the workers were very pleasant, the pizza was delicious. Great amount of variety! The frozen yogurt was the best frozen I ever had. I highly recommend using Est Pizza for you next event.”
“Dangle's is a black-owned business in well established downtown. The restaurant is nice and quaint giving you the feels of being connected to the owner and staff. The food was delicious - delivered hot and fresh. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It behooves anyone reading this to try this place out. You won't be disappointed.”
“NVM7 Brand is definitely one of a kind. I love it, everything is soft and stretchy. And it fits me so so well. I would recommend her to anyone, she is very professional and has sizes for everyone as well. You won’t be let down, you will be more than happy with your purchase.”
“This is the best (if not only) place in the New Haven, CT area to get authentic Levantine food, including / especially toum. Eating here brings me back to past vacations in Lebanon and the incredible food and company I enjoyed there; for those that prefer other cuisines, this place has you covered as well! Pizza, pasta, the full gamut of Mediterranean food!”
“During lunch break from having to serve jury duty I found this coffee shop down the street and decided to pop in. The two behind the counter were very friendly and inviting, and the special grilled cheese with tomato or bacon with soup was PERFECT . the chicken corn chowder came out piping hot and didn't even need any salt or pepper. I'm usually skeptical when someone has to make my coffee instead of me doing it, but unlike dunkin donuts the gentleman made it just right! they seem to have a familiar and friendly customer fan base, and I would definitely go back again.”
“Very intimate setting. The wait staff were very friendly. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and the manager came over to congratulate us as well as give us a complimentary toast.”
“Four us went last night and it was phenomenal. Brenda took her time to explain the menu and all of our options. They were also able to accommodate us wimps that didn’t want super spicy dishes.”
“I've been here four times, and it has been an Excellent experience every time I go. The Atmosphere, food, drinks, and service were GREAT. I usually have stomach sensitives when I eat out but never at Strega. They have Real gluten, not chemically processed, and low bakers yeast in their bread and pasta. Highly recommend!”
“The food was amazing! Very impressed. Love the vibes.. very cool spot and reasonably priced.”
“The best Restaurant in CT. A combination of good food, price, and attention, among other things, the kindness of its Staff. A great experience. I recommend it, you won't regret it!!”
“Its sad that Rock Fish is takeout only now. It remains outstanding and fairly priced, but they really had the best omakase around with steep competition. I don’t think you can beat it for take out sushi. Find me another place that gives you real wasabi for instance. My go to spot when I’m craving some comfort food.”
“First time dining here. Everything was wonderful....service was attentive with special appreciation for timing of drinks, appetizers and entrees. Definitely recommend”

“Was my 1st time there yesterday and it has officially become my best place for whiting and fried shrimp. Can't wait to go back and try their lobster, flounder and porgies. Cooked in fresh oil!!! Wow!!! Worth the drive from Hartford to New Haven to get it too!!!😉Prices? Go and be pleasantly surprised!!!!”
“Hands down the best Sushi I’ve EVER had in 40+ years. Can’t wait to go back. 👌”

“Great barcade, and I've been to a lot of them. This is the same co that has a– ostensibly the original– Barcade in Manhattan.
Great spot, cool shirts, good food, good games, good taps. I drank a beer that had a satellite on it and a great green tea shot, and their actual cocktails. Good service also
Games I remember: racers, shooters, digdug, Galaga, Ms Pac-Man, Asteroid, Joust, Tron, Classic Tetris, like 10 pinballs, burger time, fighting games like primal rage, frogger”
“Delicious food 👌 Chicken Shish is so goooood, just melted in the mouth. Had an amazing experience dining in outdoors. Murat, the chef/owner is a very approachable person. He even offered espresso and latte on the house. I’d go here as often as possible.”
“we went today and of course I had to have the clam pizza. It was amazing! Our waitress Charlotte was so informative and had a great personality. She has been there for 33 years and was so fun to talk to. Can't wait to go back!!”

“Great sushi, and the dinner plates are creative and delicious. My favorite Kosher sushi in CT, and better than most places in NYC and Long Island… Easily the best by price.”
“Had a great meal, the crab cakes were delicious! Love the ambiance! Waitress was fantastic with great service. For such an elegant charming restaurant, was disappointed the hostess was dressed in leggings and crop top …. took away from our first impressions unfortunately.”
“Tuvimos la visita de mi hermano en Ohio y decidimos ir de paseo a New Haven para visitar a una gran Cheff peruano, la comida peruana de primera, atención muy buena, platos variados quedamos encantados el sabor exquisito nada que extrañar a 🇵🇪 Perú, muchas gracias Don Raúl Vásquez y esposa , quedamos visitarles de nuevo un fuerte abrazo”
“We stopped by for lunch and had the best hamburgers that we have ever eaten. The french fries were unbelievable and were perfectly cooked. The hamburgers were very flavorful. The atmosphere was incredible and the wait staff did an amazing job. Joseph, the owner, came out and spoke with us, and we told him that these were the best hamburgers we ever had. If you love hamburgers, then this is a destination location for you. The food is that good! You will not be disappointed!!!”
“Ben is an amazing sushi chef! Friendly, creative, and like watching an artist! Enjoyed our sushi bar experience! Thank you!”
“10/10 as a first impression dinner. took my wife here for her birthday and she's deciding if it's top 3 or top 5 of restaurants we've been to. will be back. great service and extremely tender and flavorful dishes.”
“I give Villa Lulu a solid 4, bordering on 5, but I'm so fussy, it's probably a 5. I save 5's for something so amazing I just can't describe it. After a brief snafu with who our waiter was, the staff was super accomodating with everything. They kept their promise to get us to the show on time. So, service ended up a 5 but started as a 2 or 3. Food, we had a variety of salads and appetizers, two main courses for 4 of us. All were very good., to excellent Atmosphere, 4, and I only detract because we had to walk up a steep flight of stairs to the dining room, so if you are physically unable to make the stairs, your options will be limited. There is al fresco dining but it was too cold. I am sincerely looking forward to returning and trying more options at a more leisurely pace because it's the type of place where you can actually carry on a conversation without the clatter of dishes and the intrusion of others' conversations. It's very warm and cozy and would be good for a romantic dinner. Reminds me of "The Big Night" kind of vibe.”
“This restaurant was well worth the hour drive to get there. They served the best potato salad I have ever had - & trust me I have tried hundreds of them in my long life. The vegetable dinner option I enjoyed today was perfect. I highly recommend the cabbage, black eye peas, and Caribbean rice along with the amazing potato salad. And I must add that the moist, scrumptious, and famous corn bread couldn’t have been better. Sandra’s is a place I will return to. I’m a vegetarian newbie who’s grateful for the nutritious, delicious food and the sweet and friendly service at this gem of a place.”
“Amazing authentic Italian food; cozy & classy ambiance, private back room for parties & outdoor seating.”
“Finally tried Bella Casa Vegana and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long! Got the buffalo “wings” and veggie pizza delivered - both were insanely good. The vegan cheese actually tastes authentic (no weird fake cheese vibes) and my non-vegan roommate couldn’t stop stealing my buffalo wings lol.
It’s a bit pricey but portions are huge so I had leftovers. Delivery was quick and the online ordering was easy.
Only complaint is the location seems hard to find for pickup since it shares a building with another place, but for delivery it’s perfect. Really solid vegan option in New Haven!”
“Came here on a quiet weeknight and was amazed by the authentic Italian cuisine. Started off with a wonderful Burrata then I had the Rigatoni Bolgenese with was really good. We also bought a loaf of the Italian Bread to bring home. That bread with some Cabot butter and you are on to something!! Would visit again.”
“Amazing people, delicious food, and a fantastic atmosphere in a safe location—plus, the fresh margaritas and tableside guacamole are my favorites! Special thanks to Michael, Patrick, Tony, Katie, Steve and many more for their exceptional service! PS I can't find ANY margaritas like Geronimo in California, so stop what you're doing don't look any further, you've found the BEST spot to go!”
“We had a delicious dinner and dining experience. We will definitely go back.”
“Frozen margarita and street corn were awesome! Service was also fantastic!”
“Fantastic experience .The staff were friendly and attentive, and the owners were so welcoming. Great atmosphere , great food and service , I will definitely be coming back”
“Great food. This is authentic Puertorican food I will definitely comeback.”
“me and my brother went here for lunch and it was great ramen and bao buns! the service was a little slow but very worth the wait! great vibe and just an awesome experience overall”
“100% recommend! Food is amazing but the people are so polite and accommodating. Every chance I get I will go here love that its an option in small town North Manchester.”
“Great atmosphere, great wait staff and fantastic food. The portions are large too!”
“Excellent cocktails. One of very few places I can get excellent vegetal cocktails.”
“So this amazing place was recommended by a friend from Madison and it did not disappoint! Authentic Szechuan in a beautiful room with high ceilings and soothing decor and music. One dish was better than the last and you cannot get this quality anywhere locally as far as I've been to. Go for yourselves and enjoy. Somehow we received cheesecake and chocolate ganache cake for dessert complements of the place! Even better!😂”
“Great food choices on the menu for me. Really enjoyed my Valentines Day with my friends and great food. Thanks to the restaurant, Mgr. Ms. D. Soto and the rest of the staff. You made it complete. ⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️”
“Yesterday, they were at ShopRite in Clinton. I’m so glad they were as it was truly the best Italian sausage I’ve ever had! Top notch ingredients and no corn syrup or preservatives like the others. The best!”
“This was really, really good. I got the sweet basil chicken, fried rice, and steamed broccoli. The portions were generous, and it was absolutely affordable and worth the price. Tasted so good I went back to let them know. Such sweet people too. 100% recommend.”
“The best cemitas in town ! Come and try taquería juancho guacamoles the same owners”
“Everything about this place is great! I do a lot of traveling and this is now one of my top places! The wine selection, atmosphere, seating, charcuterie selection, all are A+ for me which says a lot.”
“We had oysters on half shells for antipasto and a lobster fettuccine and a branzino (which came with sauteed spinach and purple potatoes) for main courses, then finished with a berries cheesecake.\n\nNow the oysters were so good that we ordered another four. Then my husband had a bite of the fettuccine and told me, it's so good he felt like flying with wings. Which made me wonder what he meant, so I had a bite. The parsley worked magically with the lobster, and the fettuccine was done perfectly. And the lobster was succulent and sweet.\n\nNow back to my branzino. I actually never liked branzino the fish, mainly for its boring texture and taste. I ordered it just because I felt adventurous today, really. But this one surprised me. The crushed pistachios somehow worked wonders with the branzino, hah! And the sauteed spinach, as well as the grilled purple potatoes, were mind blowing. I will go back, if not for the lobster fettuccine, only for the spinach and the purple potatoes.\n\nOh, and we had a side of sauteed broccoli rabe which was no less miraculous than the spinach and purple potatoes. We agreed that this is a restaurant we'll visit again soon.\n\nThe dessert was a neat finish to the fulfilling meal. This was a happy, rainy evening.\n\nOh and we loved Francesco. We had servers who would constantly make remarks or gestures that left guests feeling bothered and uneasy, but Francesco was just right. He's so cordial and effective, always there when we thought to look up but never intrusive or inhospitable for the sake of being hospitable. I guess he's also part of the reason we felt so comfortable dining there.”
“Wow, best pizza I have eaten in a long time. Delivery guy was super nice, guy on phone also super nice. They delivered to our hotel, no problem. Our Pizza Haven special was delicious”
“Fresh warm delicious cookies that taste like they literally just got out of the oven. What more could you ask for??? Yummy!”
“We tried Bella’s Cafe a few weeks ago and had to go back! The food is incredible (the creamiest, most delicious cheese grits I’ve ever had). The strawberry rhubarb French toast special was next level. Staff is so friendly. If you are looking for yummy comfort food in a warm and inviting place, check out this spot!”
“Went there for my birthday on Saturday…. The atmosphere was very nice. Drinks really good. Music even better . Was having a good time until one of the bartenders told us to move in a rude way. No we have been dancing and coming back to the same spot at the bar so it was empty . Y ask us to move how abt the couple next to us. Or other people that have been standing there the same amount of time or longer. Not sure if I’ll go back which is really bad . 1 person can really ruin the way u see a place.”
“Simply put, the food, staff and restaurant are nothing short of amazing. My husband and I hosted an event this past weekend (~100 guests) and it was a literal dream! THE FOOD! I was a little nervous when we settled on a buffet-style for the main entree but that worry was immediately thrown out the window when the first person up said, wait when can I get seconds?! EVERYONE has commented on how much they loved the food. Many of our guest list is from out of town, but are petitioning that a open a location opens in Northern New Jersey The staff was just amazing during the event; almost every single person I have spoken to since Saturday has brought up an interaction where 'the staff clearly cares' ::insert story of staff member just actually giving a heck about a situation:: from a question answered, to a compliment given, and everything in between, the people who worked the event were rockstars. Brittney, their catering & event manager, is worth a million dollars; she cares, she's passionate, she is kind, attentive (she definitely works 24/7 as she emailed/ texted back no matter the day or time), & is just all around an amazing person. I will never not include her and working with her in my memory of our Reception. She and Deon will not steer you wrong in making selections that will work and will be memorable. All-in-all, if you are looking to host your event in a place where people take pride in their work, are dedicated to the customer and the food is real, feel it in your soul food, then Olives and Oil is your place!!”
“Top notch food and cocktails in a relaxed environment with reasonable prices.”
“Bar 19 is the best bar in new haven super upscale and classy, Aidan and Olson are the best!!! I broke up with my partner and they went heave and earth to cheer me up. This kinda of sympathy is hard to find nowadays. Please try bar 19 if you can, I can’t say anything except how good they are, plus they have great views on the city of New Haven 😍!”
“Had my bridal shower here - everything was absolutely perfect! James was super helpful and responsive throughout the entire booking and planning process. The staff during the event were wonderful and the food was amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better event!”
“listen...Monterey got it right! the classic chicken is the truth! you don't have to ride out to the North Haven chicken place anymore, new Haven has its own!”
“My husband and I come here all the time. We love the food, it's always been fresh. We love the atmosphere, calm and peaceful. Service has always been phenomenal. Im glad we found this tiny spot, it's one of our favorite places to go.”
“G-Hev is amazing. Of course it is overpriced, but honestly that is because demand is so high because it is the only 24 hour place around/ where else are we going to get convenient stuff? If there was no ghev there would be no love.”
“John Davenport restaurant is a great spot for a quiet dinner and drinks. The view of New Haven is spectacular. I highly recommend the Jungle bird cocktail at Bar 19. The strip steak and fries were very good. It's a little expensive and the dinner menu is small, but the ambiance is worth it. Service was excellent.”

“It is too bad these comments about customer service are so offensive. Pizza and other menu items are outstanding. I really hope these comments will not affect their business because this restaurant has been in business for 75 years with only family owners and their entire menu, what ever you decide getting is wonderful. Hopefully the owner will put a stop to this problem. Call him and ask to speak to the owner”

“The sandwich was absolutely delicious! I chose the medium spicy chicken and it was just right for me.....spicy and yummy. Braver souls can choose spicier options. The cole slaw was a perfect match for the sandwich too, a touch of spicy too! Highly recommend tjis restaurant. Best meal I've had in town.”
“Love the atmosphere and location on the River. 2nd weekend went for brunch. Still no Lobster Benedict, last week got the breakfast pizza, it was outstanding. Got breakfast sliders today, a little disappointing. Karaoke Wednesdays are fun, they tolerated my awful singing.(Maybe that's why the sliders weren't good lol). Going back next Saturday for one more try.”

“My husband and I ordered online and were pleasantly surprised by both the price and how great the food was! The service was excellent as well. We had to call to add a few items to our order, and the person who answered was friendly and very helpful. Overall, a great experience—we will definitely be returning customers!”

“First time checking out Spruce Coffee and overall it was a good experience. I got a drink from the fall menu and it was really good. The vibe is chill, super cute decor, and the staff was friendly.
Only downside is the space is pretty small, it can feel tight if it’s busy. I was also a little confused where to order since the register is right by the main door. On a crowded day I could see the line being out the door with not much room to wait.
Still, worth a visit for the good coffee and cozy atmosphere.”
“Today was my first time trying Shah Food, and I ended up going back twice in the same day. I tried the chicken burger first, and within two hours I was back for the hot wings. Their spicy sauce is really good. I grew up eating spicy food, so I can handle heat, and theirs has flavor and a kick.
The chicken and meat taste very fresh, not rubbery at all, and the bun on the burger was crispy in the best way. I’m already looking forward to trying the gyro next. Exam week has me hungry, and Shah Food is definitely becoming my go-to comfort spot.
Staff is very nice. Their shop is clean as well.
Highly recommend!”
“Walked into the shop and immediately there was the warmest smell of fresh cinnamon rolls in the oven - had to get some along with our coffee and so glad we did. Such a smooth iced americano and SUCH good cinnamon buns. The owner was so sweet! Glad we found this place to along around town”
“This place is one of the most happiest accidents of my life :>
My father needed to go to the restroom and we happened to stumble upon this place. Being that we were quite hungry and haven't had dinner yet, we decided to have a quick meal here. The food was amazing and reminded me of the time I was in Korea a few months ago, especially the interior. Pricing is honestly superb. Only around 14 dollars (not including taxes and tips) for their signature Mr.Cookbop Stew/Soup which I split between me and father since although being quite hungry, the portion sizes were suuuper generous. Oh, did I mention unlimited side dishes and rice? Was quite surprised they do this since this is the US, but indeed just like Korea they give you unlimited side dishes and refills for your rice (which is also quite rare even in Korea!) Personally for me, the fishcake sidedish were my favorite. Service is also super nice and helpful, overall an amaazing experience. Only thing I was missing was spice, since the food had very little spice in terms of heat, but to be completely fair I do have quite a bit of a spice tolerance and they'd have to cater to locals here as well.”
“I enjoy the authentic Guatemalan coffee, the bread, they go great with my coffee. Enjoy Authentic Guatemalan tamales, reminds me of when my grandmother made them, the chuchitos, they are like mini corn tamales and great with coffee too. Definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Guatemalan food. They also sell beautiful souvenirs.”
“In a red brick building on what feels like every New England main street ever written about, Ground Up Coffee has carved out the kind of space that makes you almost forget you're in a shared cafeteria complex rather than some Brooklyn-wannabe independent joint. And that's not a bad thing.
The industrial-chic interior, with its exposed ductwork and concrete floors, could easily have felt like another soulless attempt at urban cool. But there's something genuine here, maybe it's the way the snow piles up against those massive windows, or how the baristas actually seem to care about the golden-brown croissants arranged meticulously behind spotless glass.
Their menu hits all the contemporary coffee shop greatest hits, your matcha lattes (mine was decent, if a bit timid), your nitro cold brews, your fancy flavor shots that thankfully don't taste like liquid candy. The prices won't make you wince, which is refreshing in an era where a cup of coffee can cost more than lunch.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room, that missing health inspection rating. Look, I'm not saying they're hiding anything sinister. The place is cleaner than many professional kitchens, but in this business, you post that shit proudly. It's like showing up to a job interview without pants, technically you might be qualified, but people are going to have questions.
The space flows into a larger shared area, which could be a mess but somehow works, like a good jazz ensemble playing off each other's rhythms. The pastry case suggests someone in charge actually cares about food beyond the obligatory sad muffin offering, and the whole operation runs with a quiet efficiency that's becoming rare in the age of Instagram-first cafes.
Is it perfect? No. The winter draft from those picture windows could probably use some attention, and seriously, let's get that health rating up where we can see it. But these are quibbles in what's otherwise a solid operation.
Four stars out of five. It's not going to revolutionize coffee culture, but it doesn't need to. Ground Up knows what it is: a pretty well-run coffee shop that respects its customers enough to do the basics right while adding just enough flair to keep things interesting. In a world of over-hyped coffee experiences, sometimes that's exactly what you need.
Just remember to wear a sweater if you're sitting by the windows in January. And maybe ask about the health rating, if only to watch them do that little dance that every manager does when caught without their paperwork in order. Trust me, it's more entertaining than whatever latte art they're serving up.”
“Wonderful food. Well-prepared. Typical atmosphere for this type of restaurant. But the best part was the Pancho Villa cocktail—a must-have (and I learned it was also the favorite of the bartender)—made with mezcal, chili liquor, their homemade tamarind syrup and more, with chili salt on the rim and chili powder swirl stick. All of our meals were excellent, with good flavors.”
