“The night before the Marine Corps Marathon, we celebrated our anniversary dinner with family and relatives at Satay Club, a cozy Malaysian restaurant tucked in the heart of Washington DC. I’m always on the lookout for authentic flavors — and this place truly impressed us with every bite.
We started our feast with their signature Satay — both chicken and lamb. Perfectly grilled with smoky charred edges, the skewers were tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the rich, nutty peanut sauce. It felt like a taste of Kuala Lumpur in DC!
Next came the salted fish fried rice, aromatic and full of wok hei (that irresistible smoky aroma). The balance of savory salted fish, soft egg, and crisp vegetables made it comfort food at its best. The calamari dish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with colorful bell peppers and crunchy shallots — a delightful mix of texture and spice.
We also loved the tofu and eggplant stir-fry, which came in a deliciously savory sauce — rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. To end the evening, we indulged in ice chendol and fried banana, a sweet and refreshing finish that brought nostalgic memories of Southeast Asia.
Satay Club is a gem — family-run, warm, and truly authentic. A perfect place for Malaysian food lovers and a wonderful way to celebrate before marathon day! 🇲🇾🍢🍚💛“

“not. a. single. miss. went here for a date and the vibes were immaculate -- we were seated at one of the window seats, allowing us a great view of passerby. we ordered the salmon belly with jeow som, perfectly fatty and tangy; the jaew bong wings with the sauce that was so unforgettable that i had to scoop it over my rice; incredibly tender thom khem (pork ribs); sweet-but-not-too-sweet black sesame sticky rice with green tea ice cream as dessert. absolutely going to return. recommend a reservation if possible.“

“It was a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming.
The host / waiter were super friendly, super nice which made my experience even better. Thank you Nancy
The restaurant was tidy and clean 9/10.
Talking about the food: I ordered,
● Fresh shrimp summerroll: it was fresh and done the right way, and the peanut sauce was good.
● Chiken spring roll: was crispy and not greasyat all, I did not like the souce that comeswith it (you need to make a new soice please).
● Dumpling: I had netter, can be much better.
● Pho beef combination: was just perfectly done, the broth was flavorful so as a whole it was just delicious.
Food quality was great and fresh, survise was really good and fast.
Would I come back? Yes I would and Highly recommend it.“
“✨So grateful for Taku Sushi to have opened on H st! 🤩I finally got a chance to try it out, everything was wonderful. It’s just what H st needs, a classic Japanese restaurant with delicious food, cozy environment and kind and friendly staff. I got the salmon bento box, something I usually don’t go for but WOW am I glad I did! Everything was cooked/ prepared perfectly! You can tell it’s all made fresh, I actually feel healthy after eating. I took it to go but snapped some photos before eating it all-not pictured is the miso soup. Can’t wait to make it back again soon 😊✨ ✨✨“

“MohMohLicious is delicious! They have an extensive menu, including lots of vegetarian options, and the portions are substantial—I get two days of leftovers from one entree. The food is fresh, piping hot, and just generally delectable. All in an unassuming little shop on Georgia Ave. The in-restaurant seating is limited (and chilly in the winter), so you might want to consider takeout.“

“My experience at Kata was a great one. From the food, music, service, and the ambiance. Diona handle my reservation and was sure that I had everything I needed. There was even a slight mix up with the bill and she got it taken care of on her day off. I would definitely recommend.“

“$2 Crazy Hour is absolutely insane! They have a great selection of sushi and various appetizers. The sushi is the same high quality as their dinner service ,the fish pieces are huge and incredibly fresh. The alcohol are 50% off, and the selection is massive, they're not stingy like other places that only offer one or two brands. It's a super friendly restaurant, and you absolutely cannot find a better deal in town!“

“DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Tiny portions and mediocre food for insane prices. Do Not Recommend! We waited 15 minutes to be asked if we needed water. then 10 more until they even brought it. The Thai rice was kinda mushy, the Peanut noodles were so so and the Garlic noodles was such a small portion I thought I was being punked which i tried eating made it half way and didnt finish. Then when the staff asked why were weren't eating the food they didn't even bother to comp or just apologize after we told the manager how we felt. Terrible experience and honestly the worst food I've eaten in DC in the last few months of visiting! I would have rather gone to CAVA.“

“Visiting DC for the weekend and had to look for some halal Chinese food. As a houstonian, I’m picky about my food choices. Oh my god I’m so happy to have tried New Dynasty. Mom and pop shop run by a husband and wife. They’ve been open for 30+ years. Such a sweet couple and so kind. The food came quickly and it was all so delicious. It was so good I had to DoorDash it the next day. Definitely will be back if I’m back in the city!“

“Not only is every dish delicious, but the service at Isshin is so warm, so welcome and so lovely. Secret menu item is the handmade dumplings (they have two types so ask for these specifically). Their miso soup is very rich but not overly salty, which can be difficult to find, yet it is here daily and for a good price. I’m particularly in love with their udon noddles, which I get vegetarian with tofu, and the veggies are perfectly crisp. Their sushi rolls are fresh and I never get the seaweed burps. They know us when we walk in and make my wife and I feel like family. Become a regular, it’s worth it.“

“I just really enjoy everything on their menu. Today I tried the wings, it was moist on the inside and just the perfect crunched on the outside. Drizzled with calamansi sauce ... i'm drooling thinking about it. Stop by and try their loco moco, lumpia, or a vegetarian dish!“
“I stopped by for a bowl of the pork wonton soup on my lunch break and it was delicious. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the ease of using the self kiosk to order. I was also impressed with the reusable bag and utensils set for to go orders. I will definitely be back to try other menu items.“

“A really pleasant surprise in Union Station, an alternative to sandwiches, fast food. Very diverse oriental menu. Both my and my spouses dishes were very tasty, served up quickly, and really ample (burp!). Most tables out in the open of the station so ambient noisy is present. We were in transit and this place will be on our list of where to eat.“

“I went at noon and it was not crowded at all, and it was quiet, a big bonus for me these days. No loud music and people shouting in order to converse over it. The food was very good, very fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant for Asian fusion cuisine and sushi.“

“Quick service, yummy, one roll was plenty for me! They even brought it over to my table! I got the orange dragon roll, which perfectly combined shrimp tempura, tuna and salmon with spicy mayo! Those are my fave rolls! The place is near the ice rink and not a ton of seating. But overall, I would eat here again!
Edit: I walked around, got hungry and came back for a second roll!“

“Quick competent service, a little under flavored combination fried rice. Needed a little vinegar as over oiled. The individual meat, tofu and veg items in the fried rice were cooked perfectly.
I guess just ask for a little less less. They are just get some vinegar or chili oil and add it. When I added the chili oil, that's pretty good.
Only a couple outdoor tables.“

“Decent poke bowl and spring rolls. Good for a quick bite. The poke bowl seemed a bit smaller than other places Ive been to but the ingredients seemed fresh. I saw the guy who made it chopping.
Casual atmosphere. Nothing fancy at all about this place.
The service was slow but I'm not sure if it was because they were short staffed or what. You could tell the workers were hustling. They did pretty well for the amount of orders coming in and amount of staff they had but there was a bit of a wait. I saw some other patrons getting a bit impatient. But otherwise good. Id go back for a quick bite.“

“I regularly order sushi from this restaurant and usually go for either the Shrimp Tempura Roll or the Salmon Tempura Roll with added cream cheese inside the roll. However, today was a disappointing experience. I ordered two lunch specials (which should include a total of four rolls) through Uber Eats, requesting the Salmon Tempura Roll with cream cheese inside the roll.
Unfortunately, I only received one lunch special (just two rolls), which I reported through the Uber Eats app for a refund. On top of that, instead of adding the cream cheese inside the roll as requested, it was just placed on top—which really affects the flavor and overall experience. Anyone who enjoys sushi knows that how the roll is made impacts the taste.
While I’m disappointed with this order, I still enjoy their food and hope this was just a one-off mistake.“

“I love mayflower! Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Great sized portions and fast service. A lot of reviewers seem to be confused about the delivery system, they deliver through DoorDash, not their own driver. So all the bad reviews complaining about delivery should really be directed towards DoorDash. Anyways, great place and lovely family owned business!“

“Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!
We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!“
