“Hendrickx Belgian Bread Crafter is such a gem. An amazing bakery with the fluffiest croissants and genuinely solid coffee. I was working next door for a week and getting to stop in every morning felt like a small daily luxury.

I did not get the chance to try their sandwiches which I regret because everything looked incredible, so that alone is reason enough to come back. I am absolutely returning for more.

Also the man working there was so sweet and welcoming it honestly made the experience. He kind of looks like someone out of a baroque painting somehow warm + timeless. One of those places that makes a city feel special.“

Greet the seemingly rude but probably just overstimulated and direct staff member

Order the chicken Ceasar sandwich and the vodka chicken sandwich (if you’re alone its ok- nothing beats leftovers)

Order a lemon ricotta cookie and a headful of other yummy desserts- you know, for the road.

Take a seat in their very limited seating area or your car- the key is to eat these (particularly the vodka chicken) as soon as possible

Indulge in some of the greatest delicacies that are the D’Amato’s

The next day, thank yourself for the leftovers if you manage to keep any.

“I love the fresh food , reasonable prices and how polite and helpful the ladies are. I have been going to this bakery for over 18 years. I moved far from it, and I drive an hour to come buy from there.“

“We drove over an hour to get here, not knowing that whole cakes are only sold by pre-order. The gentle was kind enough to sell me one that was ready for an order that would be picked much later. That gave them enough time to get another prepared.

The cake was just a traditional 3 Leches cake. It was perfectly moist throughout the cake. The frosting was not too thick nor too sweet. I would have loved to try one of the others flavors.

It is a little small and expensive when compared to other bakeries. The quality and taste makes up for the added cost
cost.“

“So today I had a friend in from out of town and we topped off our afternoon with a visit to Miski Bakery. I was dying to try the alfajores, and they did not disappoint! The very delicate morsels melted in our mouth, and the creamy luscious dollop of dulce de leche caramel was a perfect pairing. In addition we tried the Milhojas/Napoleons in two flavors the Lucuma pastry creme and also the dulce de leche. A thousand layers is correct, these were amazingly tall, crispy and filled with air, both were delicious but the Lucuma(a Peruvian fruit) pastry creme was the standout. It had such a delightful delicate flavor I had never tasted previously. After speaking with Carmen the owner I asked whether or not they ever carried Turrón de doñja Pepa. She just happened to have some freshly baked sitting on the tray behind the counter, but alas it was still awaiting its filling. This gives me a great reason to return and indulge in that special treat. It is prepared every other week. The service was warm and friendly. This is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood you shouldn't miss out on. I will be returning often.“

“I have been enjoying breads and pastries from New Dokil my whole life from various asian grocery stores (Joong Boo, Hmart, Tai Nam, Park to Shop) and always get something the moment I see it. My favorites have to be the white bean bread, every cream bread, and mocha castella. Always fresh, super soft, and not too sweet. I would like to visit the main location one day for a special occasion cake.“

“We have been regulars for a while and couldn’t be happier with Levain’s quality, friendliness and atmosphere. Yes, it’s pricey, but you really get your money’s worth here.

While the cookies are the signature item and crowd pleaser for a reason, their breads and rolls shouldn’t be overlooked. We are very picky when it comes to bread (we usually bake ourselves) but Levain’s products are really top notch. Some personal recommendations: the ciabatta, the whole grain loaf, the country boule and the whole wheat walnut raisin loaf.

And well, the cookies - to be honest, we didn’t know how good a cookie could taste before we had our first from Levain. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but please give the dark chocolate chocolate chip a try if you can.

We also love their team - they manage to be quick and super friendly at the same time. I’d say that the warm atmosphere of the store’s interior is perfectly mirrored in the welcoming attitude of Levain’s staff.

“Really affordable Chinese bakery if you want to avoid the rush of Chinatown (but still better than like, the bakery inside of Park to Shop etc). Very affordable too, esp if you bring cash to avoid the credit card fee. The curry bun, hot dog bun, coconut custard bun, egg tarts, sugar top buns like matcha crack top, are our standard orders. They make a good customizable iced coffee (e.g., can get it with no sweetener) too. We have never had anything that isn’t fresh.“
