“I was a regular here. I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves hibachi! They're always kind and always get my order just right! Try the yum yum sauce with your hibachi meal. It's so good. Remember to tip! They deserve it!“

“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!“

“Came to DC for a conference and luckily found this exceptional restaurant for sashimi and sushi. Kay, our server, is knowledgeable, attentive, and answered all questions that my colleague and I have. We ordered the Sashimi Mori, a set of 4 hand rolls, one extra "torch me slowly" hand roll along with a regular bottle of hot sake, and two special dishes from the Chief. All came extraordinary and super fresh. It was enjoyable and incredible. We hope to have another chance to come back and try other items in their menu.“

“We went for the summer restaurant week. You get a cold and a hot appetizer, assortment of sushi and a dessert. We opted for the soft shell crab and shabu shabu ramen, both were delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Sushi is top quality and decadent of course. Hojicha pudding is uniquely toasty and silky.
Not all RW deals are worth going, but I’d recommend the selection at sushi taro for the quality and the value of the food.“

“Delicious food, beautiful architecture+decor, and great service.
Must-try dishes:
1/ Sake no tataki cold dish (pictured)
2/ Arjun sake toro no aburi has a rich flavor and fun fact: it’s named after the restaurant owner
3/ Maitake mushrooms
4/ A5 wagyu was perfect: super tender, flavorful, and perfectly seared (4oz pictured)
5/ mochi - strawberry flavor tasted very natural and fresh (I also tried the mango and vanilla but strawberry had them beat)“

“When I think omakase, I think sushi. Kappo was wagyu omakase, so I didn’t know what to expect exactly. The wagyu was beyond delicious like melt in your mouth delicious. I added the sake pairing and it did not disappoint! The space was intimate with about ten bar seats and three tables of 4. Chef Ogawa was there showing us the cut of wagyu. The course took around 2.5 hours.“

“Went for dinner at opening time and there was no wait and restaurant was basically empty which I like. Immediately greeted and sat and provided menus. The service was outstanding, maybe due to how busy the establishment was at the time, but nonetheless outstanding!! Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and pleasant. The food was all soooooo good. Started with the soft shell crab which when delivered to the table had a small flame in the middle;great presentation!!! The fish was very fresh , and you could see the chefs making all the sushi to order which is great. Toll sizes were normal size about 8 pieces and all were delivered at once which I like. The restaurant is a little smaller with about 15 ish tables so I'm sure it can fill up quickly when busy. Desert was also great ❤️. Loved the presentation again as the flatware was very cute as you can see in the photos. Best sushi I have had in Virginia so far ❤️❤️❤️. Prices were reasonable for the amount of shushi and sake that we ordered and would def go back. Must try
Parking: Underground parking garage that is used for the Harris teeter as well. Lots of parking which is great“

“This is my favorite poke bowl place! The food and toppings are fresh and delicious! The fried tofu is so good. They have a small staff, so if it’s at all busy, you might have to wait a while. But it’s so worth it!
Vegetarian options: Fried tofu is a protein option“

“I wish I went here sooner. I have lived in the Palisades for four years. Sushi is one of my favorite fare and the six times I have been here in the last five months have been amazing. The sushi is impecable and the service is even better. I have come here just for a quick dinner to take home and a place to sulk after the death of my abuela. Their demeanor is unmatched to other sushi places in DC and I, regretfully, wish I could have spent more time with their fabulous staff. Kotobuki is an institution that must be respected and admired by everyone in the DMV. Thank you!“

“The place was small, cute, and charming. True mom and pop shop, the owners were so kind and doting. Tried the Bibimbap bowl and the mint lemonade and it did NOT disappoint. The owner and the cook herself, even mixed the Bibimbap for us. It felt like eating dinner at Grandma's house, and I can't wait to go back!“

“I chose Akeno Sushi to celebrate my bachelorette weekend, and I couldn’t have made a better choice! It’s my absolute favorite restaurant in DC, and this experience just confirmed why it’s one of my top spots. From start to finish, the staff was incredibly warm, accommodating, and genuinely thrilled to help us celebrate. Nadia, in particular, was a joy to work with and supported me every step of the way in planning. The food was phenomenal, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The drinks were equally impressive, featuring thoughtful details like fresh flowers that added a special touch to the celebration. The ambiance was perfect, with lovely decorations that made the night feel even more festive. Whether you’re planning a special event, a casual dinner, or a date night, Akeno Sushi is versatile, delicious, and always delivers a memorable experience. I highly recommend it!“

“Top of the top with the greatest view of the river, for me was one of the greatest sunsets in D.C. I strongly recommend to have a reservation in advance, because you don't want to miss the spot.
The service is also in the top! Very smooth and sophisticated that makes you feel part of the royalty!
I would definitely comeback and enjoy with family and friends.
Dinner or just drinks!“

“Went there to celebrate my birthday. Sushi was very fresh and perfectly prepared. The slices were excellent, which made the fish delicate, tender and without too much dark pieces which have more fishy taste, no tendons/skin/muscle to make it difficult to chew. It was a delightful experience! The amount of different fish/seafood species was surprising. A special place to go to celebrate, if you love sushi. We paired it with a nice bottle of Italian Sparkling, which was an excellent recommendation by our server.“

“A beautiful restaurant boasting an amazing and attentive staff, Sushiko provides an excellent culinary experience with high quality sushi especially of note the fresh wasabi which I highly recommend to those with a proper taste for it as it elevates each and every dish. The Hamachi crudo while a small dish, was so flavorful and well put together I had to order it a second time. The grapefruit added acidic components to the dish while also attributing to the texture while the ponzu sauce provided A wonderful savory palette.“

“Rooftop on the Marriott great atmosphere. The service was good with the chef coming out to greet everyone at their table. They have multiple heaters which was perfect after the sun went down. I had the portobello app, very tasty. Also had the Baked fish dish, good seafood variety and flavor. I wish they served bread though.“

“Temari Cafe has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with a comforting meal. The ramen with rich, flavorful broth and tender noodles were amazing!! However, the sashimi was slightly disappointing, as it didn’t seem as fresh. Overall, it’s a great spot for ramen and takoyaki .“

“Excellent choice of sushi resturant that fits in between casual and fine dining. It has an extensive menu of Japanese choices so you are not limited to sushi. I went with their sushi special offered with finer cuts of fish and was impressed with the selection. I also tried their truffle shoyu ramen and did not think it was that great. The egg which should be one of the best parts is not properly prepared. The broth just felt lacking and not rich in flavor. They gave a lot of noodles but did not find them to be very tasty. It was my fault because this is a sushi resturant and ramen is not their speciality.“

“I recently dined at Toryumon Japanese House in DC, and it was a memorable experience in every way. Tucked downstairs with moody, dim lighting, Toryumon strikes a balance between intimate and modern, creating a cozy ambiance that sets the perfect tone for a night out. We arrived on a bustling Saturday night without a reservation, but to my surprise, we were seated quickly—something I didn’t expect for a group of seven!
Our server was attentive and friendly, keeping our water glasses full and checking in just the right amount. To kick off, we ordered a variety of appetizers to get a feel for the flavors. The bao buns stood out with their freshness, soft texture, and perfect bite—definitely a must-try. We also got the kaki fry, which were beautifully crispy oysters with just the right touch of spicy mayo, elevating each bite without overwhelming the seafood's natural flavor. I’d come back just for these.
For the mains, we all dove into the ramen, and I personally opted for the Ajitama ramen. The broth was unbelievably rich and flavorful, with chashu that practically melted in my mouth. This was definitely a highlight, packed with depth and that traditional umami kick. I also tried a bit of the Fantastic sushi roll, and true to its name, it was quite fantastic, with a generous mix of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The honey b roll, filled with crab, salmon, and avocado, was another standout—each ingredient fresh and perfectly paired with a hint of honey that added a unique, sweet note.
One of my friends tried the lychee martini, which was strong yet refreshingly sweet, and paired well with the spicy ramen. I was tempted to try more from the cocktail menu, especially since each drink seemed thoughtfully crafted to match the Japanese flavors.
For anyone exploring the city, Toryumon is a spot worth checking out. And while you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by Pull Up DC as well, where the vibe keeps going long after dinner’s done! Toryumon has definitely earned a spot on my list of DC favorites, and I can't wait to return.“

“Totally underrated sushi restaurant! I lived in Japan for the better part of my adult life and every time I come to Maki Bar (at least once a month at this point) I'm impressed by the size of the cuts of sashimi, the amount and flavor of the tempura shrimp udon (my go to order!), and all my friends and family I've brought have been equally blown away. Their special rolls have all tasted great too. The Salmon Special is the photo I've attached and was a dream for a salmon lover like me! Can't recommend them enough!“

“I got the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was rich. The slices of pork were fresh, juicy, tender, slightly sweet, and abundant. There were at least 6 slices in that bowl. The assortment of vegetables and narutomaki added unique, delicious tastes and textures to the dish. Their food presentation is perfect. You'd have to see it to believe it. The ramen actually looks like it's straight out of those food commercials and restaurant food posters. All in all, it's a great place to eat.“

“This is quick service food Japanese but absolutely some of the best ever for this type of service. I’ve eaten and tons of these and so far this is the highest quality and best prepared I’ve had since moving to Maryland 5 years ago. Delicious chicken and shrimp and the teriyaki sauce is as close to a real thick rich teriyaki as I have found outside of a really nice traditional restaurant. love traditional sit down Japanese and this really holds its own for a quick service offering. Very reasonable price considering the quality especially. Wish they had one closer to me in Columbia MD!“

“Ordered hamachi kama and chicken teriyaki at the front desk. Promised ready to go in about 25 minutes. However, after checking three times, two boxes were not ready for us to go until 40 minutes… At home, two items were tasted average. The hamachi kama (priced $25) was expected to come with more vegetables.“
