“Hidden gem—almost impossible to see the name of this little restaurant, so it’s easy to miss! But what a fun surprise when you do find it. Great drinks—I tried the Hibiscus Margarita, my hubby had the classic. Very tasty! The food had great authentic flavor and was very reasonably priced for Birmingham. I had the shrimp taco and didn’t love how thick the soft shell was, but the flavor was delicious and the sauce with the shrimp was yummy. My hubby and daughter loved their dishes. He got a steak special and she got the Biria dish.
The coconut cake and churro cheese cake dessert were fabulous and worth the calories!
Service was great, friendly and helpful!

“Incredible experience with the nuns of st Roger’s abbey. The ambience and presentation of the store is incredible the staff is warm and kind and they treat you like a guest in their home the drinks are excellent and the pastries beckon to you. Beautiful hand made items that look like little works of art. We stumbled upon this place and were enchanted by its old world feel and French influence. We will definitely be back!”

“This review is for the Royal Oak Roast only. The road is full of as*holes , the world going to sh*t more and more. The people in charge care not at all and we are on a very possible path to doom. Why not stop in at Royal Oak Roast? It’s a comfy place with great people watching. The coffee is wonderful and refills are a dollar. So many different coffee choices in all styles, including espresso over over Weiss vanilla ice cream!!! The kitchen, yes I said kitchen has scrumptious food that is presented beautifully with the seasonal selections. All this sound good? Well that’s not even the best part. It’s the staff. It’s a varied collection of kind, hard working people that make you feel welcomed and are always working hard to get your order out to you. “This review is long overdue.. this is definitely one of mine and my husband’s favorite places to eat. The consistency of the food and service along with the continuity of the staff says so much. Last night I reluctantly tried the steak siciliano because I was raised with my grandma cooking this and I couldn’t imagine eating someone else’s.. let me tell you, it was phenomenal! By far, our favorite menu item and we’ve eaten everything here! Please keep up your standards of food and service here, you guys do it best! “I think these smoothies are too sugary, but I do love their food—wraps, bowls—good options. The service is generally pretty quick. Parking is on the street or in the nearby parking lot. They allow you to pull into the back alley if you order online and they will bring it out to you, which is super nice. The space is small and pretty loud honestly, so I generally take it to the nearby park. I’ve been many times and it is good for food.”

“We had the most amazing Easter brunch at Madam! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a festive vibe. The warmth and friendliness of the staff (management checked in repeatedly and server Rishikesh was perfect), the delicious food, gorgeous setting of the restaurant, and pictures with the Easter bunny made this a special and memorable holiday. Our party enjoyed short rib sandwiches, lobster rolls, crème brulee French toast, omelettes, eggs benedict and more!”

I've had a couple bad experiences but they corrected the orders free of charge and even delivered. the pizza is so delicious I have now added extra cheese to my pizza, I don't mind spending the little extra. I want to try something else like the fish or the burgers. overall the pizza is so delicious I recommend them.”

“On our latest visit (January 2026), we had an early dinner - try the crispy chicken sandwich (served on a croissant) with kale tobouli. We had a window table and enjoyed the wintery Birmingham streetscape while we dined and drank.. They still have an impressively stocked bar with knowledgeable, personable barkeeps. Try a flight of spirits and explore the full gourmet bar food menu.”

“On Set. 19, I brought my 96-yr-old mom here for a drink and hors d'oeuvres. I had sent a note on the online reservation form that we would appreciate a quiet table. The receptionist had knowledge of the request without my saying anything, and immediately showed me three locations she thought would suit. I wish I had gotten her name, for management to commend her. (We arrived at 5:15, which should help you know to whom I refer.) We sat in a booth, and our server, Usama, made our nearly 3-hr (!) visit truly joyful and perfect! Again, management - please take note. We agreed that he was the best waiter either of us have ever had - attentive, fun and funny, and going the extra mile in tailoring our drinks to our (sweet-tooth!) tastes, and making us feel welcome and special. This was likely my mom's final "fancy" outing, and I am so grateful to Usama for making it perfect. Kudos also to the chefs. Our 3 dishes were superb - beef tips, shrimp, hummus.”

“FIVE STAR RATING: We cannot praise Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse enough! We were seated at a cozy table and were greeted with the utmost, warm and friendly service. Our server, Sean, was amazing! He pointed out the menu’s recommendations, didn’t rush us, and personalized the order of when we’d like our choices brought out to the table. Every dish we ordered from appetizers to the complimentary Birthday dessert, was tremendous! We reserved a standard table in one of their dining rooms. However, even the bar area with high top tables would not disappoint. Don’t hesitate to make this a place to experience. They offer a great menu of salads, seafood, steaks, and be sure to ask about specials. They offer a vast wine menu and specialty drinks. We WILL be back! There is valet parking available if you’d choose that option.”
