“We skipped the food as we stopped in during the taco festival, but holy awesome service Batman! Victoria (maybe Veronica?) and Brie were awesome bartenders. Very fun and personable. Kept us in margaritas 🍹 and were an absolute joy! Looking forward to going back.

“We started off with the Norton flight. Must say that they was the best Norton based wines we had on the trip. The 2014 vintage was the best and the the 2016 and 2023 were almost as good. Then we tried a custom flight of dry red native grapes. Very interesting flavors in the wines. I liked the Cloeta best of what we tried even though I had never heard of any of the grapes before. Ended up buying 6 bottles, mostly of the Nortons, packed in a flight ready box.”

Did not realize it was the last day of magical dining and the place was packed on a Tuesday evening. That did not change the great service or food. “So it is Monday July 14 and we just left Joe’s BBQ and my wife told me that my BBQ is better the Joe’s any-day. Sunday night we went to Q39 and wow what a difference. My wife and I both had the 3 meat and sides of beans,and vegetables. Every single thing we had was great. Chicken(white meat) had good flavor but chicken is chicken. Sausage was full of flavor with the peppers. Ribs were fall off the bone and didn’t need sauce. The pulled pork was really soft and melted in the mouth good. So at this point I have to say if you are in Kansas City for BBQ go to Q39 last because nothing compares the it at least in Kansas City anyway.”

“A total of 12 hungry guys showed up after a long day of golf. We had traveled 5+ hours to the area for a nice long weekend of brotherhood. At the time this place was chosen to eat we didn't know how bad we actually needed it ! Food was amazing. Service amazing. Scott himself came out of the back to talk to all the patrons. Ended up giving us a mini tour of the smoke sanctuary. Beyond awesome. Bought some spicy sausage to bring home for the family. Worth your time, money and effort to go to this place. “Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us”

“In town for the week and looking for something with heart, this place popped up as a local favorite and now I understand why. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine kindness and warm energy that you could feel in the room.
It was a little busy, which is always a good sign, but we scored a sidewalk table and that is totally my vibe. The Baba falafel on pita was absolutely soul satisfying. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and made with love.
Inside, the decor is beyond charming. Whoever designed the space clearly knows how to mix color and texture with personality. Honestly, I want them to come decorate my house next.

Not super spicy, but they did have a little kick. The suya beef was also good . It came with Jollof and plantains. I also enjoyed that, but it was a little too spicy for me. Still really good though. Lastly, I had the okro soup with fufu. The soup was good, I was just really unfamiliar with how to it. It’s very viscous and kind of gooey. It had fish, a crab claw and shrimp. The fish had a lot of bones in it so be careful when eating that. And you also have to break apart the crab claw by hand. The soup is very time-consuming to eat so I probably won’t get it again. Still delicious, but it was just not my cup of tea. The woman who served me was extremely nice and welcoming. The couch I sat on was very comfortable and the music was so good! The vibes are a 10. I'd definer go back again, but in the future, I’d probably ask any of the dishes can be made slightly milder.

“So it is Monday July 14 and we just left Joe’s BBQ and my wife told me that my BBQ is better the Joe’s any-day. Sunday night we went to Q39 and wow what a difference. My wife and I both had the 3 meat and sides of beans,and vegetables. Every single thing we had was great. Chicken(white meat) had good flavor but chicken is chicken. Sausage was full of flavor with the peppers. Ribs were fall off the bone and didn’t need sauce. The pulled pork was really soft and melted in the mouth good. So at this point I have to say if you are in Kansas City for BBQ go to Q39 last because nothing compares the it at least in Kansas City anyway.”
